ICDL illustrazioni - Penna a sfera 2
Ancora illustrazioni a penna a sfera! Tutte dal 2017. Le nostre artiste ne hanno fatte davvero TANTISSIME nel 2017, perciò è meglio che ci sbrighiamo a mostrarvene qualcun'altra, altrimenti non finiamo più...
1. Le vasche da bagno esistevano già nell'Antica Grecia... perciò è normale che anche la nostra Sheridan (uno dei personaggi de "il Bambino dei Cimiteri"), che viveva nel 1800, ne avesse una! Ma perché ci passasse dentro così tanto tempo, questo rimane ancora un mistero. Illustrazione realizzata con varie penne colorate (sì, oltre alle classiche blu e nere, c'abbiamo pure le varie bronzo-rosso-azzurro).
2. I ratti sono una figura insospettabilmente importante nel Cammino delle Leggende... e soprattutto nella nostra storia vincitrice dei Wattys 2020, Urban Legends. Li chiamano "Città"... ma per scoprire il perché, dovreste leggere la storia ;)Intanto, godetevi l'illustrazione a penna a sfera (questa volta nera).
3. Ancora un'illustrazione dei personaggi di Urban Legends! Questa non è una scena vista nel libro, ma piuttosto un'avventura "off-screen": September Aster e Furiadoro che vanno a scalare insieme. September non è un tipo eccezionalmente atletico, nonostante sia molto resistente nelle camminate, ma questo non significa che non provi a migliorare sé stesso...

4. La caduta di Ermes! Una scena dal nostro libro (oh, anche questo ha vinto un premio Wattys... se ve lo chiedete, sì, ne stiamo vincendo praticamente uno all'anno) "Io sono il Drago". Ovviamente non possiamo darvi troppe informazioni riguardo a questa scena, per evitare spoiler... ovviamente Ermes, il grande drago nero, è ferito. Mortalmente? Solo di striscio? Si riprenderà e farà a pezzi chi gli ha fatto questo? Lo scoprirete solo leggendone l'epica storia!
5. Un baby Ermes! Chi mai direbbe che il minuscolo draghetto nero in questo disegno sia destinato a diventare il più famoso di tutta la sua dinastia e probabilmente della sua intera specie? Nella veloce illustrazione che vedete, Ermes si sta nascondendo da qualcuno notevolmente più grosso di lui: il Gran Slatha (un titolo onorifico che designa il capo dei draghi rossi) Uthurbe, il quale lo sta inseguendo per ucciderlo. Riuscirà a sopravvivergli?

ICDL illustrazioni - Penna a sfera 1
<Parte precedente (Urban Legends, artisti vari, parte 3)
Abbiamo fatto una bella carrellata di fanart (ed è stato figo, vero?), ma adesso ritorniamo un po' alle illustrazioni ufficiali, create dalle nostre artiste Furiarossa e Mimma. Questa volta non ci dedichiamo ad un libro solo, ma un po' a tutti i personaggi, i luoghi, gli oggetti... ma tutti disegnati con le penne a sfera! Sketch o illustrazioni un po' più complesse, ma realizzati invariabilmente con l'inchiostro più comune in commercio.

1. Un'illustrazione di Sedna, la dea artica del mare, realizzata con la penna nera e quella azzurra, per il racconto breve Kamik e la caccia alla foca, che in versione corretta (e forse con nuove illustrazioni, chi lo sa...) farà parte del nostro prossimo libro, il primo della saga "Storie del Cactus".
Sedna è una figura davvero affascinante... dea del mare degli inuit, che regola la vita degli animali marini e di conseguenza degli uomini, in quanto pescatori, essa nasce umana, negli abissi diviene spirito potente, dea con testa e tronco del corpo di donna e con la parte inferiore del corpo a coda di pesce (a volte viene rappresentata con volto di foca o con volto di donna e il resto del corpo a forma di pesce).
2. Un incantatore di serpenti, disegnato con la penna a sfera nera, nel 2017. Ma attenzione... non è un incantatore qualsiasi! Sì, è proprio lui, il nostro Vlad, che adora qualunque copricapo abbia almeno una piuma sopra. Incantare i serpenti è una delle sue cose preferite da fare in pubblico: fa finta di essere un abile suonatore ed un esperto incantatore, ma in realtà sta solo usando i suoi poteri ipnotici da vampiro per impartire ordini al povero serpente!
3. Fenrir, lo Hróðvitnir, il gigantesco portatore del Ragnarok, è il soggetto di questa illustrazione realizzata a penna nera nel 2017. Non sappiamo ancora se manterremo questo stesso design, ma dobbiamo dire che ci piace ancora! E poi, caspita, l'avete visto quanto è grande?
4. Un piccolo leprecauno sporco che corre dietro ad un enorme wolfhound irlandese (che gli ha fregato il cappello)! Un altro disegno a penna nera del 2017, una velocissima illustrazione per il nostro romanzo (vincitrice di un premio Wattys nello stesso anno!) 5. Furiacieca! Un'illustrazione a penna del più grosso licantropo di tutta la saga, un enorme bestione peloso, aggressivo, feroce, inarrestabile e... cieco. È anche il papà di Furiadoro, la protagonista del nostro premiato romanzo Urban Legends, ma la sua storia personale è stata raccontata nel fumetto "Furiacieca", che potete leggere online QUI oppure acquistare (sì, anche in versione cartacea!) BACKSTORY
Youth and Crime
Pascale was born in New York the 25th of December in 1967 from a family of Italian origins, together with his identical twin. He will pass a troubled youth, soon ending up an orphan.
The young Pascale docilely follows his twin Elias in the criminal plans he fabricates in order to survive and get richer in their conditions, without even asking questions. His brother's plans become increasingly more elaborate and, twenty years later, the twins have gained enough contacts and experiences to stay at the head of a small criminal empire named La Boulé (a name inspired by an aristocratic government body that existed in the Ancient Greece).
Their two best friends are also part of this organization: one of them takes care of safety of the twins, predisponendo misure di sicurezza e guardie, and the other takes care of acting as a safe link with the criminal underworld, guaranteeing footholds and clean negotiations. The final push that brings La Boulé to success is the adhesion of the Picciotti brothers, thugs with a certain reputation in the slums, whom Pascale knows by offering Genna Picciotti a candy at the metro station; from there their popularity increases exponentially, allowing them to recruit new members which give stability to the organization and make it more efficient.The twins decide at this point to present themselves as a single person to gain a certain advantage over the enemies and strengthen their authority, which no longer has to be "shared" between two people but directed towards a single Boss (who apparently had the gift of ubiquity, meh) able to solve in a very short time any problem La Boulé was facing (two heads are better than one, yup).
Pascale takes the opportunity to disappear behind the shadow of his brother, savoring the power without having to feel the weight of its responsibility. From a very young age most of his life is contaminated by the "dark side" of the Big Apple, but since he never gets his hands dirty directly hurting someone he doesn't really realize how much he and his brother are really harming other human beings. His life changes when he personally witnesses the kidnapping of the family of a rival boss, with the killing of the trusted men who were there to protect the enemy's wife and daughter. Shocked, he changes his life and begins to give up on missions, withdrawing into himself. Elias tries to help him and gives him the opportunity to recover by totally taking the command of the organization onto himself (secretly pleased with the acquired power, but saddened by the condition of his twin). Pascale is at his lowest and risking depression when, hoping to uplift him, his twin entrusts him with a very simple (and kind of useless) assignment: he will have to observe a place where it's said that unusual things happen, the Black Cat.
Pascale accepts, nodding like a drooling zombie, and goes there... that's how he gets to know Hyerasolem Bora, a woman employed there, which he sees as beautiful and full of life.
Love And A New Life
His useless duty suddenly becomes very dear to him: he spends everyday at the Black Cat, always ordering a strawberry milkshake and chatting with the most cantankerous waitress of the staff that mercilessly keeps treating him like a doormat. When he starts leaving generous tips, though, Girasolemma (it's Hyerasolem that meanwhile has changed her name) becomes all sugars and spices, and starts to harbor a sincere feeling for the client: they've fallen in love.
Pascale takes advantage of his own power to change identity, adopting the family name from his mother's side, and achieves to get away from the Bulé and get engaged with Girasolemma. His brother is upset over it, but even if full of disappointment he lets him go, wishing him well.
The ex-waitress immediately ditches her job in favor of not doing anything all day, so that for our Pascale, on the long run, would have been much more convenient - financially speaking - marrying a Ferrari made of Rolex watches.
He's careful to erase every information about his past he can find (thing that's pretty easy for him, since he was often basking in his "ghost identity" behind his brother). He marries Girasolemma and they move together to Baltimore, Maryland. They will have a baby, Vampirella, which is affected by albinism, which will awaken in him all of the possible fatherly instinct.
He will become passionate about My Little Pony watching them with his little daughter, recognizing himself in Fluttershy, but over time he will stop watching them because he no longer has the "excuse" of having a little girl to watch them with (even if every now and then he'll give a peek at the new series, come on, give a man a break).
Trivia:
• He has a super strong tendency to be exploited and his personality is in general pretty mild and submissive, so the only reason he managed to stay at the head of the Bulé for so long is his incredible talent for acting: he imitated his brother with such skill that even in pretty stressful situations he could have reacted almost exactly like him.
• Despite him being an incredible actor, he often rejects his own talent because he hates lying: he sometimes finds himself telling the truth even in a nagging way to the people around him, stubbornly saying everyday which color are his socks. He can't lie if he doesn't empathize with his brother.
• Finance doesn't catch him having a much higher income than he should because he has a childhood friend who protects him from among the revenue authorities.

ICDL illustrazioni - Urban Legends (artisti vari!) parte 3

Altre fanart dedicate ai personaggi di Urban Legends, la storia che ha vinto un Premio Watty nella sezione paranormale del 2020! Furiadoro sembra aver spesso catturato l'immaginazione dei nostri lettori, amici e di chi semplicemente ne ha visto le illustrazioni... probabilmente è il nostro personaggio che si è beccato più disegni in generale! Oggi ne condividiamo con voi altri quattro.
1. Fanart crossover! Mica Rea e Furiadoro si incontrano di nuovo e, come accade praticamente sempre, arrivano dritte sparate al combattimento. Questa volta sono stati aggiunti anche l'adorabile moglie vampira di Mica (sì, è una licantropa sposata con una vampira XD) Aria e il migliore amico umano di Furia, September! Aria non ama granché gli umani (insomma, sono cibo per lei), ma hey, un amico di un amico è un suo amico! Non preoccupatevi perciò, September è al sicuro e la vampira intende davvero parlare di té, non di sangue. Questa illustrazione è stata creata dalla nostra collega e amica americana, Aria-Suna-Kunoichi.
2. Sorpresa e preoccupata come non mai, ecco uno stilizzato ritratto digitale di Furiadoro creato da erin-the-mouse.
3. La forma ferale di Furiadoro, illustrata magnificamente da Inari. Se fosse la protagonista di un cartone animato per i più piccini, non ci dispiacerebbe affatto se somigliasse a quella in questo disegno! Che belli i denti e la corporatura <3
4. Potente e rabbiosa come lei, con un contrasto forte e una luminosità aggressiva, questa splendida illustrazione digitala realizzata da CanisLunaticus cattura bene "l'anima" di Furiadoro. Che dire, è fighissima! Se siete curiosi, le parole sullo sfondo sono quelle della canzone "Animal in me" di Solence.

Le nostre artiste ufficiali, Furiarossa e Mimma, hanno rilasciato una breve intervista per il blog Tè, Biscotti e Arte. Potete leggerla QUI se siete curiosi!
Ne approfittiamo anche per parlarvi un attimo di Té, Biscotti e Arte, questo blog che ci ha contattati così, all'improvviso e che... ci ha stupiti positivamente con il suo obiettivo. Sulla loro homepage si presentano innanzitutto come "un semplice e modesto blog che intende esplorare e parlare delle tante sfaccettature del mondo dell'arte."
Eh sì, perché l'arte è importante. Fondamentale. Un motivo per vivere, oseremmo dire: la musica, le arti performative, l'illustrazione, sono il modo che gli esseri umani hanno per decorare il tempo e lo spazio. Ma voi, essendo nostri lettori, queste cose le sapete già, no?
Quindi cosa ha di speciale Té, Biscotti e Arte? È semplice: il suo lavoro di promozione dei piccoli artisti indipendenti, che i blog (soprattutto quelli più grandicelli e famosi) non fanno quasi mai. Inoltre propone tutorial per gli illustratori, la canzone del mese, e hanno una vetrina per gli artisti che potete commissionare. Insomma, un piccolo grande blog che pensa a noi (piccoli) grandi consumatori di arte. Per dire, noi l'arte la mangiamo... ma questo lo sapevate già.

• Adrian Jacobs
One of the students attending the special course for young superhero wannabes. He has secured a place among the other students thanks to his extraordinary power: Adrian is a pyrokinetic that ranks grade A on the destructive scale, the highest ever documented. After a certain event that happened in his past, he always covers his face with a fox mask and tends to avoid anything that has to do with fire, including the use of his own powers. His size and emotional instability don’t make him look that reassuring, even if he’s a very kind person… and a nerd.
• Albert Cicalone
A short, squared little man that works for the Ermes Insurances agency. He’s sly, and he sweats a lot.
• Alina Vogt
A young ex-prison inmate who entered Quantico’s course for young superhero wannabes after Hawk Storm’s legal reforms. She has some hearing problems. Her power is to produce dinitrogen oxide in her breath, and she generally uses it for evil purposes.
• Anika Morris
Student of the special course for young superhero wannabes, she works in team with her cousin Anita, with whom she shares the same power: the two can keep in telepathic contact even at great distances. She has a sunny disposition and she’s a little impertinent, but she’s fully committed to what she does, achieving excellent results in both theoretical and practical studies.
• Anita Morris
Student of the special course for young superhero wannabes, she works in team with her cousin Anika, with whom she shares the same power: the two can keep in telepathic contact even at great distances. She’s got her head in the clouds, and is a chatterbox who never misses an opportunity to try to make friends. She’s a bit of a loser.
• Anya Philippus
Anya is a professional superhero, known as half of the Pale Horses duo along with her brother Valder. The name of the two is linked to that of their colleague and mentor Hawk Storm, due to their frequent collaborations on the field and the true bond of affection that unites them in private life. In addition to her work as a super, Anya is also a very popular figure on social media and in the hip-hop music landscape, as a singer, rapper and guitarist.
The Pale Horses are able to change appearance, taking on the features of other people or imaginary creatures, but they need to be close to each other for their power to be activated, and it can only work within certain limits, under normal conditions. They are known for their propensity to transform themselves into monstrous creatures, sometimes rideable (their being called “Pale Horses” also comes from this) and because they post funny videos on Momentgram.
• Ariana Pavor
The young Ariana is one of the residents of the White Dragon psychiatric hospital. She’s fourteen years old, and stuck in a wheelchair, because she’s immobilized from the waist down. Despite her harmless appearance, her power is so destabilizing for the other patients of the institute that, for their safety, Dr. Cosmos has decided to separate her from everyone else and lock her up in the structure’s dungeon. The only person who really manages to keep her in line inside the White Dragon is The Mad Teo, as he’s immune to her power.
• Bringo (The cat)
A white cat who doesn't care much for superhero stories. Sometimes he becomes invisible.
• Carmela Douglas
She’s the mother of the rebellious Maris, with whom she has an extremely conflicted relationship; Carmela is a quite superficial woman, and a glutton for gossip. Her power is to understand the true state of mind of the people around her, and she uses it to mind other people's business.
• Cherry Gale
Cherry is the protagonist of the book and a lover of hunting with strong opinions. Her power, that is more unique than rare, is to hypnotize other humans and control their will. The family environment in which she grew up and the presence of this power concurred to shape her character into that of a misanthropist who uses her ability to command others without remorse. She is pragmatic, physically strong and shrewd. Unfortunately, she’s also a curmudgeon.
• Cintia Cintia
Columnist for the popular teen magazine "Teen Life", she regularly interviews super villains and Korean pop stars. Everyone tells her the same jokes along the lines of: "Mrs. Cintia! It’s fine if I call you Cintia, right?". But that won't stop her.
• Gabrielle Bedstone
Consort of Sam Bedstone, Gabrielle is a reserved and composed but authoritative woman, whose important work often keeps her away from home. She can't cook to save her life but she does it every now and then anyway, perhaps out of sadism.
• Gara Gale
Gara J. Gale is a professional huntress as well as Cherry Gale's mother.
She’s a very strong person, both physically and temperamentally, and she makes most of the decisions for the family. She is wary of strangers and considers very few people worthy of respect; her bad temper may lead her to react violently when she feels upset. She has a certain reputation due to her skill in her job, which combines perfectly with the power with which she was born: that of immobilizing animals for a few seconds, if she can get them to look her in the eyes.
• Hawk Storm
Talented, chaotic, cheerful and surrounded by an interesting aura of mystery, Hawk Storm is a pretty renowned pop star, whose fame has also been fueled by the acclaim received by his TV show “Supersongs on TV”; no less important is his superhero career, which he leads under the name of Death Rider and on which he’s much more reserved. Hawk is also a model, voice actor and composer, as well as supervisor of Quantico's special course for young superhero wannabes.

Despite the obstacle of an attention disorder, curiosity and love for studying have led her to develop a lively intelligence and a wide range of knowledge. She isn’t a big fan of good manners.

A young ex-convict who joined Quantico's special course for young superhero wannabes after Hawk Storm’s reforms. He’s a pyrokinetic, but not a very strong one.
• Mauritius Amaurobius
Professor of the course for young super wannabes. He’s a lively man who likes to establish a playful and human relationship with his pupils, but he’s perhaps less correct than he may appear.
• Nanuk Denahi
A young ex-convict who joined Quantico's special course for young superhero wannabes after Hawk Storm’s reforms. His power is to turn pain into electrical discharges, the strength of which will be proportional to the pain he feels. He almost killed people like that, but it must be admitted that he can say "they started it!" he’s right.
• Nora Coleman
Old writer who retired to the White Dragon Hospital to face her battle with depression. She’s a rather kind person, who hardly gets upset at others. The devoted nurse Morgan, with whom she has established a strong friendship, takes care of her.
• Olster Wolf
An ex-prisoner in a juvenile prison, he had access to the special course for young superhero wannabes after the reforms wanted by Hawk Storm. He sincerely wants to take advantage of the opportunity given to him to redeem himself and learn how to become a super. His power is an extraordinary transformation ability, which allows him to turn into a seal. He’s very good at juggling numbers and catching stolen fish and jewels on the fly.
• Prince
Cherry's best friend and brother in spirit, Prince was orphaned at a very young age before being adopted by the Gale family. He is a mix of vivacity and laziness, who loves raw meat, playing ball and tearing pillows with his teeth; he would do anything for Cherry, including fighting at the cost of his life. Oh, and he's a puma.
• John Murray
Nurse working at the White Dragon Hospital. The director places great trust in him as he’s a very patient man, so it’s usually him who interacts with the most agitated patients including, mainly, The Mad Teo.
• Raven Morrighan
A young ex-convict who joined Quantico's special course for young superhero wannabes after Hawk Storm’s reforms. Her blood contains a powerful hallucinogen, something that she used to her advantage to rob a jewelry store; the heist ended in the “accidental” death of two police officers. She has tattoos all over her face and acts threateningly, just in case she doesn’t appear bad enough.
• Rosie Cosmos
She is the director of the White Dragon psychiatric institute. Although she thinks that Bloodhound has a "puppy face", she’s a lawful, loyal person who has an extremely severe judgment against criminals, so much so that she’s responsible for the intervention and capture on the field against one of the most feared and popular criminals of history (and acting as a civilian, too). Her power has very little to do with her profession, but Rosie is still a very skilled and respected psychiatrist in the academic world.
• Ryan McCallister
One of Cherry Gale's classmates, he finds joy in entertaining others and making them happy, also because of (or perhaps precisely by virtue of) the fact that he’s always fighting to hide his own sadness. Ryan’s power grants him an unexpected influence over our protagonist Cherry, but his emotional frailties make him vulnerable to events that will change his life and could, coincidentally, have to do with the two most famous super villains of the century.
• Samantha Navidad
An ex-inmate who entered Quantico's super young wannabe course after the reforms wanted by mister Storm. She has a strengthening power that allows her muscles to become more robust and responsive on command for about an hour. You probably don't care about it, but she's allergic to raw apples when she's around birch trees. Yes, some people do.
• Sam Bedstone
Samuel “Sam” Bedstone is a federal agent in charge of the Behavioral Science Unit. After being embroiled in a scandal over letting Bloodhound and Werhunter be chosen as collaborators to investigate alongside the police – being still unaware of their criminal intent, of course - he’s looking to form a task force that can stop the two by bringing together extraordinary talents... like that of hypnotizing people, for one. His power comes to his aid in this, being that of knowing instinctively and precisely what the power of the people he has close to him is.
He thinks he's very, very smart.
• Sheldon LaPoer
Better known as Bloodhound, he is the sidekick of the notorious supervillain Werhunter. He worked as a special agent for the FBI's Behavioral Science Unit before switching sides and becoming a super villain; he has an insidious, complex, power of mind-reading that makes him a skilled manipulator and assistant feared by both law enforcement and other criminals. In addition to being a super villain, he’s also a serial dog adopter and manager of the singer Ryan.
• Teo (The Mad)
A guest of the White Dragon psychiatric hospital, eccentric and self-proclaimed madman, he’s both a patient and part of the facility's staff. He has a certain creative aptitude for problem solving and is very outgoing, characteristics that allow him, together with his power, to be able to interact safely with all the other guests of the institute to help them settle in and support them. He’s also the only effective barrier between Ariana Pavor and the others.
• Thomas Franz
A young ex-con who entered Quantico's special course for young superhero wannabes after the reforms made by Hawk Storm. He’s a small guy, but his power makes his ligaments much more elastic than a normal person's, allowing him to jump and move like a video game character.
• Tom Gale
Househusband and potato grower, Tom is the loving father of Cherry Gale (and the puma Prince, whom he found himself adopting without knowing how) and husband of Gara Gale. He has an extremely mild and sweet character, which goes well with his power to reassure those around him.
• Valder Philippus
Super hero by profession, he is known as half of the “Pale Horses” duo together with his sister Anya. His is a power of transformation that works only in the presence of the other half of the duo.
He lost his right eye in an attack caused by a criminal. Due to frequent collaborations on the field and their close relationship (he and Anya live practically in his house), his name is strongly associated with that of the singer and superhero Hawk Storm. He’s also a rapper, guitarist and a well-known personality on social media that, sometimes, also appears on the small screen along with the other members of the Death Trio.
• Vera Morrison
Salty elementary school teacher. After a certain episode that occurred following the summoning of two parents to school, she’s rightly afraid of having to deal with any and all members of the Gale family.
• Victor Lupis
Psychiatrist, brilliant inventor, enterpreneur, evil genius and chatterbox, Dr. Lupis is known primarily as Werhunter, the greatest super villain of the century! Or Brainstorm. Or The Human Robot. He can't make up his mind.
His power is still unknown to most people, including himself, but this has not prevented him from building an empire that influences the most varied social and economic fields of the US landscape, legal and otherwise.

Dopo un certo evento del proprio passato porta sempre il volto coperto da una maschera da volpe e tende ad evitare qualunque cosa abbia a che fare col fuoco, compreso l’uso dei propri poteri. La sua mole ed instabilità emotiva non lo rendono proprio rassicurante, anche se è una persona molto gentile… nonché un secchione.
• Albert Cicalone
Un ometto basso e squadrato che lavora per la Ermes Assicurazioni. È un furbetto e suda molto.
• Alina Vogt
Una giovane ex-detenuta entrata nel corso per giovani aspiranti super di Quantico dopo le riforme apportate da Hawk Storm. Ha dei leggeri problemi di udito. Il suo potere è generare ossido di diazoto ed esalarlo col respiro, e lo usa generalmente per il male.
• Anika Morris
Studentessa del corso speciale per giovani aspiranti super, lavora in squadra con la cugina Anita, con cui condivide lo stesso potere: le due possono mantenersi in contatto telepatico anche a grandi distanze. È solare e un po’ impertinente, ma si impegna a fondo in quello che fa, ottenendo ottimi risultati negli studi sia teorici che pratici.
• Anita Morris
Studentessa del corso speciale per giovani aspiranti super, lavora in squadra con la cugina Anika, con cui condivide lo stesso potere: le due possono mantenersi in contatto telepatico anche a grandi distanze. Ha la testa tra le nuvole ed è una gran chiacchierona che non perde mai l’occasione per provare a stringere amicizia. È un po’ una schiappa.
• Anya Philippus
Anya è una supereroina professionista, conosciuta come una delle metà del duo dei Pale Horses insieme al fratello Valder. Il nome dei due è legato a quello del collega e mentore Hawk Storm a causa delle frequentissime collaborazioni sul campo ed al vero legame d’affetto che li unisce nella vita privata. Oltre al lavoro da super, Anya è anche una figura molto popolare sui social media e nel panorama musicale hip-hop, come cantante, rapper e chitarrista.
I Pale Horses sono in grado di mutare aspetto, assumendo le fattezze di altre persone o creature immaginarie, ma hanno bisogno di essere vicini perché il loro potere si attivi e possono lavorare solo entro certi limiti in condizioni normali. Sono conosciuti per la loro propensione a trasformarsi in creature mostruose, talvolta cavalcabili (anche da lì viene il nome di “Pale Horses”) e perché postano video buffi su Momentgram.
• Ariana Pavor
La giovanissima Ariana è una dei residenti dell’ospedale psichiatrico Drago Bianco.
Ha quattordici anni ed è bloccata in sedia a rotelle, perché è immobilizzata dalla vita in giù. Nonostante l’aspetto innocuo, il suo potere è così destabilizzante per gli altri pazienti dell’istituto che, per la loro incolumità, la dottoressa Cosmos ha deciso di separarla da tutti gli altri e rinchiuderla nei sotterranei. L’unica persona che riesce davvero a tenerla in riga al Drago Bianco è Il Folle Teo, poiché è immune al suo potere.

Madre della ribelle Maris, con cui ha un rapporto estremamente conflittuale; è una donna superficiale e ghiotta di gossip. Il suo potere è quello di capire il vero stato d’animo delle persone che ha attorno, e lo usa per farsi gli affari degli altri.
• Cherry Gale
È la protagonista del libro ed un'amante della caccia dalle opinioni forti. Il suo potere, più unico che raro, è quello di ipnotizzare gli altri umani e controllarne la volontà. L’ambiente familiare in cui è cresciuta e la presenza di questo potere hanno concorso a plasmarne il carattere in quello di una misantropa che sfrutta senza rimorso la sua abilità di comandare gli altri a bacchetta. È pragmatica, forte nel fisico e sagace. Purtroppo è anche una musona.
• Cintia Cintia
Articolista per la popolare rivista per adolescenti “Teen Life”, intervista regolarmente super cattivi e star del pop coreano. Tutti le fanno le stesse battute sulla falsariga di: “Signora Cintia, posso chiamarla Cintia, vero?”, ma questo non la fermerà.
• Gabrielle Bedstone
Consorte di Sam Bedstone, Gabrielle è una donna riservata e composta, ma autorevole, il cui lavoro importante la tiene molto spesso lontana da casa. Non sa cucinare ma ogni tanto lo fa lo stesso, forse per sadismo.

Gara J. Gale è una cacciatrice professionista, nonché la madre di Cherry Gale.
È una persona molto forte, sia fisicamente che caratterialmente, ed è lei a prendere la maggior parte delle decisioni per la famiglia. È diffidente nei confronti degli estranei e considera veramente poche persone degne di rispetto; il suo caratteraccio la porta a poter reagire anche in maniera violenta quando viene contrariata. Ha una certa reputazione dovuta alla bravura nel proprio lavoro, che si sposa perfettamente con il potere con cui è nata: quello di immobilizzare, per qualche secondo, gli animali con lo sguardo.

Talentuoso, caotico, allegro e circondato da un’interessante alone di mistero, Hawk Storm è una pop star estremamente popolare, la cui fama è stata alimentata dai consensi ricevuti dal suo programma Supercanzoni in TV; non meno importante è la sua carriera da supereroe, che conduce sotto il nome di Death Rider, ma su cui è molto più riservato. È anche modello, doppiatore e compositore, nonché supervisore del corso per giovani aspiranti super di Quantico.
Il suo nome è legato a quello dei Pale Horses, Anya e Valder Philippus, da cui sembra inseparabile sia nella vita privata che lavorativa. Dato che i tre vengono richiamati quasi solo nei casi in cui ci siano vittime accertate, i fan gli hanno affibbiato il nomignolo di “Death Trio”.

Ci ha quasi ammazzato della gente, però se dice “hanno iniziato loro” ha pure ragione.
• Nora Coleman
Vecchia scrittrice ritiratasi presso l’ospedale Drago Bianco per affrontare la propria battaglia con la depressione. È una persona piuttosto gentile, che difficilmente si scompone. Di lei si prende cura il devoto infermiere Morgan, con cui si è instaurata una forte amicizia.
• Olster Wolf
Ex-detenuto in un carcere minorile, ha avuto accesso al corso per giovani aspiranti super emancipati dopo le riforme volute da Hawk Storm. Ha sinceramente voglia di sfruttare l’occasione che gli è stata data per redimersi e imparare il mestiere. Il suo potere è un’abilità di trasformazione straordinaria, che gli consente di tramutarsi in foca. È molto bravo a fare i numeri di giocoleria e prendere i pesci ed i gioielli rubati al volo.
• Prince
Migliore amico e fratello in spirito di Cherry, Prince è rimasto orfano in tenerissima età prima di venire adottato dalla famiglia Gale. È un mix di vivacità e pigrizia, che ama la carne cruda, giocare a palla e stracciare i cuscini coi denti; farebbe qualunque cosa per Cherry, compreso lottare a costo della vita. Oh, ed è un puma.
• John Murray
Infermiere dell’istituto Drago Bianco. La direttrice ripone in lui grande fiducia ed è un uomo molto paziente, per cui è in genere lui ad interagire con i pazienti più esagitati tra cui, principalmente, Il Folle Teo.
• Raven Morrighan
Un’ex-detenuta entrato nel corso per giovani aspiranti super di Quantico dopo le riforme apportate da Hawk Storm. Il suo sangue è un potente allucinogeno, potere di cui si è avvalsa per rapinare una gioielleria, un colpo che si è concluso con la morte “accidentale” di due agenti di polizia. Si è tatuata tutta la faccia e si comporta in maniera minacciosa, giusto perché magari non sembrava abbastanza cattiva sennò.
• Rosie Cosmos
È la direttrice dell’istituto psichiatrico Drago Bianco. Nonostante pensi che Bloodhound abbia “la faccia da cucciolino”, è una persona ligia al dovere che ha un giudizio estremamente severo contro i criminali, tanto da avere a suo nome l’intervento e cattura ai danni di uno dei criminali più temuti e popolari della storia (agendo da civile, tra l’altro). Il suo potere ha ben poco a che vedere con la sua professione, ma è comunque una psichiatra molto abile e rispettata nell’ambiente accademico.
• Ryan McCallister
Compagno di classe di Cherry Gale, trova gioia nell’intrattenere gli altri e renderli felici, anche, o forse proprio in virtù, del fatto che si sforza di nascondere la propria tristezza.
Il suo potere gli garantisce un'influenza inaspettata sulla nostra protagonista Cherry, ma le proprie fragilità emotive lo rendono vulnerabile a degli eventi che cambieranno la sua vita e potrebbero, casualmente, avere a che fare con i due più famosi super cattivi del secolo.
• Samantha Navidad
Un’ex-detenuta entrata nel corso per giovani aspiranti super di Quantico dopo le riforme apportate da Hawk Storm. Ha un potere di rafforzamento che consente ai suoi muscoli di diventare più robusti e reattivi a comando, per circa un’ora di tempo. Probabilmente non vi interessa saperlo, ma è allergica alle mele crude quando si trova vicino alle betulle. Sì, ad alcune persone succede.
• Sam Bedstone
Samuel “Sam” Bedstone è un agente federale a capo della Behavioral Science Unit. Dopo essere stato coinvolto in uno scandalo per aver lasciato che Bloodhound e Werhunter fossero scelti come collaboratori per indagare insieme alle forze di polizia – ancora inconsapevole dei loro intenti criminali – , sta cercando di formare una task force che possa fermare i due riunendo insieme talenti straordinari… come quello di ipnotizzare le persone, per dirne uno. Il suo potere gli viene in aiuto, essendo quello di sapere istintivamente e con precisione quale sia il potere delle persone che ha vicine.
Crede di essere un tipo molto, molto furbo.
• Sheldon LaPoer
Meglio conosciuto come Bloodhound, è la spalla del noto super criminale Werhunter. Ha lavorato come agente speciale per la Behavioral Science Unit dell’FBI prima di cambiare fazione e divenire un super criminale; ha un insidioso, complesso, potere di lettura del pensiero che lo rende un abile manipolatore e sidekick temuto sia dalle forze dell’ordine che dagli altri criminali.
Oltre a fare il super cattivo, è anche un adottatore seriale di cani e manager del cantante Ryan.
• Teo (Il Folle)
Ospite dell’ospedale psichiatrico Drago Bianco, eccentrico e folle autoproclamato, è sia un paziente che parte dello staff della struttura. Ha una certa attitudine creativa per il problem solving ed è molto estroverso, caratteristiche queste che gli consentono, insieme al suo potere, di poter interagire in sicurezza con tutti gli altri ospiti dell’istituto per aiutarli ad ambientarsi e supportarli. È anche l’unica barriera effettiva tra Ariana Pavor e gli altri.
• Thomas Franz
Un giovane ex-detenuto entrato nel corso per giovani aspiranti super di Quantico dopo le riforme apportate da Hawk Storm. Un ragazzo piccolo e gracile, ma il suo potere fa sì che i suoi legamenti siano molto più elastici di quelli di una persona normale, consentendogli di saltare e muoversi come il personaggio di un videogioco.
• Tom Gale
Casalingo e coltivapatate, Tom è il padre amorevole di Cherry Gale (e del puma Prince, che si è ritrovato ad adottare senza sapere come) e marito di Gara Gale. Ha un carattere estremamente mite e dolce, che ben si sposa con il suo potere di tranquillizzare chi gli sta intorno.
• Valder Philippus
Super eroe di professione, è conosciuto come metà del duo dei “Pale Horses” insieme alla sorella Anya. Il suo è un potere di trasformazione che funziona solo in presenza dell’altra metà del duo. Ha perso un occhio durante l'attacco causato da un super criminale. A causa delle frequenti collaborazioni sul campo e del loro rapporto strettissimo (lui e Anya gli vivono praticamente in casa), il suo nome è fortemente associato a quello del cantante e supereroe Hawk Storm. È anche rapper, chitarrista e personalità conosciuta grazie alle apparizioni, di solito insieme al resto del Death Trio, sul piccolo schermo e sui social media.
• Vera Morrison
Insegnante acida delle elementari. Dopo un certo episodio avvenuto a seguito della convocazione di due genitori a scuola ha paura, a ragione, di avere a che fare con un qualunque membro della famiglia Gale.
• Victor Lupis
Psichiatra, inventore brillante, enterpreneur, genio del male e gran chiacchierone, il dottor Lupis è conosciuto principalmente come Werhunter, il più grande super criminale del secolo! O Brainstorm. O Il Robot Umano. Non si sa decidere.
Il suo potere è tutt’ora sconosciuto ai più, compreso sé stesso, ma questo non gli ha impedito di arrivare con le sue forze a costruirsi un impero che influenza i più svariati campi sociali ed economici del panorama statunitense, legali e meno.

General informations and warnings
Not everything that bears the form of a shadow hound is a shadow hound: it's advisable not to touch all the canine-shaped creatures that appear to be made of smoke, as they could be expressions of poorly managed spells, partial ghosts or even grim dogs (also known as black dogs) which at particular times of the year take on different forms. It's also important to recall that shadow hounds are often messengers of the Dark Ministry and obstructing their work is prohibited by a number of laws. That said, shadow hounds in themselves don't pose a danger to a human being, or to any other living creature, but it's good to make sure, first of all, that what you've met is a true shadow hound.
Origins
Shadow Hounds are the earliest harnessed ghosts in the history of dark magic: they consist of the spirit of a dog that is promptly pulled out of the body shortly before or shortly after its actual death and fixed in such a way that it maintains a physical form, although they cannot exist for too long outside the spiritual world, and therefore are evoked sporadically and for no more than a few hours, otherwise risking disintegration. The shadow hound extraction method was most likely invented by the well-known sorcerer Paulus Grimorius in an attempt to create quick messengers impossible to be killed by traditional methods.
Appearance and behavior In appearance, shadow hounds are, just like the domestic dogs from which they derive, extremely varied: large or small, stout or thin, tall or low on their legs and with all shapes of heads and ears. They always appear without colors, but in grayscale: from pure white (a very rare coat, usually indicative of the work of an exceptional sorcerer) up to completely black. In the spiritual world, behind the veil, the shadow hounds present themselves with a compact body, sometimes slightly translucent, and very clear bright eyes, while their manifestation in the physical world seems to be made of smoke or steam, with frayed and floating outlines, and white pupilless eyes. Often the physical manifestation of shadow hounds is smaller in size than how they would be in the spirit world. The spiritual form of the shadow hounds doesn't match that of the dog from which they were extracted and even the spirit of a chihuahua may be as large as a small horse, but upon returning to the material world the shadow hound will regain its original size. Shadow hounds behave identically to the dog from which they were extracted; they may be restless, playful, shy, or aggressive, but in any case they will obey any order of the wizard who created them.
