Kait slipped her hand into her pant pocket and retrieved what appeared to be a folded piece of paper. She shoved it into Alan’s hand. He tried to give it back with a shake of his head, but the woman wouldn’t have it.
“Ye must read it later, when no one else is around.” She placed her finger over his mouth to silence him. A small chirrup sound escaped her lips in a form of a hiccup, causing her to break into a stream of giggles. “Oh no, it’s trouble,” she said and pointed over his shoulder.
Alan turned to follow Kait’s line of vision.

Set up: Steven has left and now Kait has decided to hang on Alan. Michaela isn't too pleased.

She threw her arms around his neck, draping her body over him as if she were a blanket. Alan gave Michaela an apologetic shrug, as he did his best to keep Kait’s hands from fondling him.
Michaela found herself perturbed with Alan. Why didn’t he just tell her to leave him alone?
“Oh Alan, ye see how…” Kait purred, leaning close, her mouth near his ear as if to tell him a secret or nibble on it. Michaela strained to hear what Kait whispered to Alan, but only a few words floated back her way: …loch… cool breeze…
The sporadic words may not make sense alone, but the way the woman rubbed her body against Alan like a cat in heat clearly indicated what her intentions were. Michaela shouldn’t care, but she did and if she didn’t stop clenching her teeth, she’d end up breaking a tooth.
