Meet Ichabod
Our Newest Member of the Family
Ichabod is our newest family member, and his journey has been a challenging one. He was diagnosed with Dry FIP, a devastating neurological disease that, until recently, was considered 99% fatal.
However, thanks to groundbreaking advances in veterinary medicine, Dry FIP is now treatable, with success rates of 80-100% in many cases. This has given us so much hope for Ichabod’s future.Since we started his treatment and had his medication adjusted, he has made remarkable progress and is doing very well. His treatment plan spans 84 days, which will take us to January 7th. Afterward, we’ll enter a three-month observation period to ensure he doesn’t relapse.
We’re so grateful for the support, and all the prayers, positive thoughts, and good vibes sent his way are truly appreciated. Every bit of encouragement helps as we navigate this healing journey together, and we’re hopeful that with continued care, Ichabod will be back to full health in no time. Thank you for keeping him in your hearts!

Skipping a few paragraphs from last week.
These dreams or visions began the night the lawyer placed the keys to the family estate in her hands. Her gaze landed on the item in question laying on her dresser as harmless as any keys would be and yet she knew those keys would unlock secrets best kept hidden.
"Are the dreams a warning then?" she asked her reflection in the mirror then shook her head. "Stop it, Briar or you'll end up like your father—seeing omens at every turn." She grabbed the item in question and tossed them into her purse. She had to hurry if she were to sneak out of the house before her father decided to drag himself out of bed. She wanted to avoid any last-minute confrontations. Her father made it perfectly clear he didn't want her to go to New Orleans. Too bad for him. He forfeited the estate when he refused it and now the deed fell to her.

She hurried down the stairs only to come to a halt at the bottom step. Her father stood there, leaning against the front door as if he could bar her from leaving.
She took a cleansing breath and readied herself for the heated banter that was soon to come. "Good morning, Father. It's a bit early for you, isn't it?"
"Don't go." His rough voice pleaded.
God, she should have left last night after he had gone to bed. "Why?" she asked. "And don't say it's because of the curse, a crutch you use for your benefit."
"Don't you get it?" he asked, his voice broke and his eye shone as if tears were about to spill. "It's all about the curse the voodoo woman cast on Maureen and Colm McDonald, my family and yours. The house in New Orleans reeks of evil. Heartache and death for all who reside there." "You left the house behind and just look at you." She waved a hand at him in disgust. Her father had once been a handsome man but he’d been slowly drinking himself to death for a decade and the results showed in the sickly pallor of his skin, and lately more than not it showed in his work.

Her gaze took in her surroundings. Ivy print walls, a four-poster bed and desk near the window waited expectantly in the shadowed room for its occupant to return.
The dark-haired woman hurried past her to the desk and placed the candle down on top before she yanked opened the drawer and retrieved a leather-bound book. Taking a seat, she grabbed the fountain pen with a gold-colored tip opened the book.
It must be a journal, Briar thought with curiosity. Normally she would never intrude and read someone's private thoughts, but this was only a dream and curiosity tugged until she couldn’t resist. What could the woman be writing with such frantic strokes?
Briar peered over the woman's shoulder.
"Oh Garrett, what are you doing?" the woman spoke, her voice a low whisper as she wrote.

Garrett and Da conversed in hushed whispers. When they noticed me, they separated, each moving to another part of the room. When I asked what they were talking about, they told me it was business and I should not worry. I know they were not talking about business. Why do men treat women as if they are dimwitted? Da sent me to the finest schools, yet I'm not to know what is happening beyond these walls.
She paused then and turned toward the door. In the next moment, Briar heard a baby fussing. The woman returned to the Diary and scribbled hastily. I'll write later. I hear Mrs. Flynn in the other room. Patrick must be awake.
Briar took a step to follow the woman but a sound immobilized her until the Buzzzz Buzzzz Buzzzz took over. "No, she breathed, but it was too late. The dawning of a new day pulled her out of her dream and into the land of the living as if being catapulted from one reality to another.
