Alan's right arm brushed against her, his body so near she could smell the sea salt and the spicy scent that was all him.
“Anymore headaches?” he asked, peering at her with concern.
“No headache.” But her heart picked up a few extra beats whenever he drew near, but she kept the
phenomenon to herself.
“Hmm... that's good,” he said and took a step closer, his hand landing on her waist. The dark centers of his eyes dilated until she thought she would melt into them. Again she had the distinct feeling he wanted to kiss her, but fate didn’t seem to be on their side.
“Alan,” Kait whined, drawing his attention back to her with a deep sigh of regret.
