Kait slipped her hand into her pant pocket and retrieved what appeared to be a folded piece of paper. She shoved it into Alan’s hand. He tried to give it back with a shake of his head, but the woman wouldn’t have it.
“Ye must read it later, when no one else is around.” She placed her finger over his mouth to silence him. A small chirrup sound escaped her lips in a form of a hiccup, causing her to break into a stream of giggles. “Oh no, it’s trouble,” she said and pointed over his shoulder.
Alan turned to follow Kait’s line of vision.
