Notable & Quotable

This week’s Notable and Quotable from the Bloodlines Reforged Saga.
This week’s Notable and Quotable comes from Roland’s Path, Book I of the Heirs of Vanity Series.
Eldryn gave Roland a curious look.
“Very well,” Roland conceded.  “Most of it was due to my temper.  However, I did remember the lessons father taught us about dwarves.  And everything worked out in the end.”

I hope this week’s newsletter finds you all well.

If you’re looking for a starter into the Bloodlines Reforged Saga, Fires that Forge and/or Roland’s Path are the starting blocks.  The complete first trilogies of both are available on Amazon and can be found here; Heirs of Vanity and Lords of Order & Chaos.  We have at least two more series planned (Orphan’s Blade and Templar’s Rebellion) that will go into the over all Saga.  Each series is set up to stand alone, but you will find a deeper understanding of all the characters involved if you read all the series.  Please consider leaving us a review on Amazon and/or Goodreads. Thanks!

Keep an eye out for the announcement of a winner in the audiobook giveaway of Heirs of Vanity, the boxset of Roland’s Path, Roland’s Vow, and Roland’s Triumph!

You can find an ever-growing glossary and geographic guide on our website here; www.bloodlinesreforged.com.  You can also find a few spoilers such as the lineage of kingdoms, the Code of the Cavalier, and so on.
I need to tell you about Dead on Time, a great tale by Mason Sabre and Rachel Morton.  Here’s what Amazon had to say, “Eighteen months—Eighteen girls. Only this time, Amy Sorokov has a chance of finding the latest victim.  The papers have called him the Calendar killer. Amy has deemed him her most wanted. So what does she do when she’s hit a brick wall, and the clock begins ticking over a young girl’s head? She calls in the only man she knows will hunt the killer down.

There is also a group of authors available right now to read for FREE on Kindle Unlimited.  The Kindle Unlimited Fantasy Fall Book Fair is in full swing!  Check out these free reads and, if you like what you see, make sure and let the author know.

Another great tale comes to us this week from S.H. Steele in The Den.  Here’s what the author has to say, “Mai wanted nothing more than to escape the small tea shop her mother owned. After gaining a degree in the human world and unsuccessfully finding employment, Mai – a kitsune – returns to the tea shop ready to learn how to become a witch like her mother. Join Mai on her job interview to be her mother’s apprentice and find out how well she does with her first client.”

On the home front, we’re going to begin creating a few videos of me reading segments of Roland’s Path and Fires that Forge which can be found on our Facebook page here; Facebook Bloodlines.  We just added a new page to our website where those videos will be showcased.

Here’s hoping you’re all surviving the Big Q and adjusting to the huge changes we’re all facing right now.

We had a pretty great gaming session this last week.  Due to some scheduling issues, we weren’t able to continue the Silver Helm Campaign this week.  Thus, we alternated to our spacemaster campaign.  We investigated a crime scene and noticed a Klingon surveilling the place.  So we put a plan into action to kidnap and interrogate him.  Although it didn’t go as planned (they never do) we did manage to get him stuffed in a van and win him over to our cause.  Whoohoo, we now have a loyal Klingon commando who’s part of the team!

I have been informed by some of the other animals around the house that the cats have been receiving far too much attention of late.  Thus, Maggie (our German Shepard) and Margaret (our Peahen) insisted on being featured in this week’s newsletter.  Note; when naming them, our kids didn’t understand that Maggie was short for Margaret (the things kids don’t know, huh?).  I’ve included a picture of Annie (our horse) as well so as to avoid any future jealousy among the ranks.

Notable & Quotable

This week’s Notable and Quotable comes from Fires that Forge, Book I of the Lords of Order & Chaos Series.
“You were younger than I am now when Stilwell was killed,” Silas said.  “I’ve no doubt of your strength, for I have relied upon it many times, but how did you endure it?  How do you endure now?”
Silas knew the question was harsh; to the point.  However, he really needed to know the answer.  Furthermore, this would abate the obvious issue they both faced.

I need to tell you about Neanderthal King, by Matt Ward.  This is a limited time FREE read available at the link above.

It’s 1107, and the once-great Neanderthal empire is no more, laid waste by the dark Sapien king, Isaac, the same bastard who slaughtered the Thal queen’s young heirs. A brutal reversal of medieval power forged in blood and fueled by Sap ingenuity.

But one babe escaped the mad king’s wrath.

Raised the son of a simple Thal herder, Maralek’s a rough lad with the ferocious pride and temper of his ruined people, a scorn for rules and rulers, and less than a little creativity in his thick skull. In a word, your average Neanderthal.

There is also a group of authors offering a set of FREE fantasy reads.  Check out these free reads and, if you like what you see, make sure and let the author know.

The party consisted of a force mage (disguised as a monk), a templar of Bolvii, a ‘scout’ (read assassin), a bounty hunter, a lanceilier, and a sheld-wynn.  So, these goons murdered a Paladin of Bolvii.  Now, we find out next week if they are going to try to cover up the crime or explain themselves to the church and the crown.

For those of you asking about the local wildlife, we were visited this week by quite a few white cranes.  I love seeing them come through because they eat so many grasshoppers and do a wonderful job of keeping the flies off of the cattle.  I know the pic is blurry.  It was as close as I could get to them.
Oh, and a fan was kind enough to let me know that it looks like we have a ‘clowder’ of cats and a ‘kindle’ of kittens.  You learn something new every day.  Thank you for that, Chris!

In other news, we also got a visit from my brand new grand-nephew, Young Master Will.  He’s got to be the best baby I’ve ever known.  I know, I know, they’re all sweet, but this little fella hardly ever cries and is best described by his mother as ‘very chill.’

Notable & Quotable

This week’s Notable and Quotable from the Bloodlines Reforged Saga.
This week’s Notable and Quotable comes from Fires that Forge, Book I of the Lords of Order & Chaos Series.
Inquisitor Dunewell stepped to the side, and Doctor Morosse shuffled past him, tracking moisture from the morning dew across the polished black and white marble floor of the inquisitor’s quarters.  Dunewell noted that, despite the walk from Morosse House to Blackstone, Silas’s feet also stained the marble with traces of blood.
“Dune, they’re… they’re dead…both of them…murdered,” Silas finally managed as Dunewell closed the door.  “She… mother… and my father, they’re both dead.”
Dunewell knew Silas well, perhaps better than anyone else did, and had not seen him shake or heard him stammer since his childhood.  He felt the flash of contagious panic and hysteria burst in his breast but muzzled that wild beast quickly.
            “Killian and Helena?”
“Yes,” Silas said as he downed his head.  “I didn’t know…I hope… I hope I was right to come to you first.”

I hope this week’s newsletter finds you all well.

Here’s hoping you’re all surviving the Big Q and adjusting to the huge changes we’re all facing right now.
We had a pretty great gaming session this last week.  A couple of players for the other campaign weren’t available this week so we switched gears to a campaign set in Stratvs.  The party consisted of a force mage (disguised as a monk), a templar of Bolvii, a ‘scout’ (read assassin), a bounty hunter, a lanceilier, and a sheld-wynn.

For those of you asking about the local wildlife, our cat population has done an excellent job of keeping mice, moles, and snakes away from the house and out of the barn.  My son says this scene reminds him of the movie Sleepwalkers, based on Stephen King’s novel.

This week’s Notable and Quotable comes from Fires that Forge, Book I of the Lords of Order & Chaos Series.
Silas struggled to refrain from releasing the words that were pressing behind his teeth.  Now was not the time.  Proper timing on his part was imperative.
The marble lid for the tomb was secured in place, and Dyllance began his final prayer.
Silas painted his practiced expression across the canvas of his face but could feel his hate boiling up the top of his spine and into the base of his skull.  If he were forced to be near Dyllance for much longer, there would be another murder, although this one would be rather easy to solve.  How many children have you beaten today, priest? was Silas’s only thought for several moments.  How many will you beat tomorrow?

I need to mention Avoiding the Abyss, Book I in the Abyss Trilogy by A.C. Ward.  “She was raised on lies. Now she must figure out what’s real, or the world is doomed.  Join a teen’s struggle with secret powers in a demonic dystopia.”
This is a great young adult adventure available on Amazon now.

I also need to tell you about The Wizard and Warrior, by Danny F. Santos.  It’s an original sword & sorcery tale available for FREE!

While we’re on the subject of FREE reads, the Christian Sci-Fi & Fantasy Giveaway is running throughout August with a number of FREE reads available.

On the home front, we’re going to begin creating a few videos of me reading segments of Roland’s Path and Fires that Forge which can be found on our Facebook page here; Facebook Bloodlines.  We just added a new page to our website where those videos will be showcased.  I’m about 19k words into Stalking Shadows, Book IV of the Lords of Order and Chaos Series.  I know, this one is slow going for me for some reason.

Here’s hoping you’re all surviving the Big Q and adjusting to the huge changes we’re all facing right now.

We had a pretty great gaming session this last week.  We’re embarking on a Spacemaster campaign set in a homebrew universe that is a combo of many popular sci/fi worlds from movies, books, and a few video games.  Our party consists of a Chiss, a Wookie, a Krogan, a Turian, a Salarian, a Quarian, and a Vulcan.  This week our crew managed to rob a bank on the Citadel (yes, like the one from Mass Effect) without anyone being the wiser… so far.

Notable & Quotable

This week’s Notable and Quotable comes from Roland’s Triumph, Book III in the Heirs of Vanity Series.
“I don’t know any of it,” Roland said.  “But I feel that it is true.”
“I do too, friend,” Eldryn said.  “I guess I do too.  I just hate it when you’re right about bad news.”
The two friends mounted up again and began their ride.  As the sun reached its peak over the land, Roland reined Road Pounder in.
“We should make the jump from here,” Roland said.  “It gives us maybe seven hours of daylight left.  If we can’t get it done in seven hours, then we can’t get it done.”

Notable & Quotable

This week’s Notable and Quotable from the Bloodlines Reforged Saga.
This week’s Notable and Quotable comes from Roland’s Triumph, Book III of the Heirs of Vanity Series.
“I think he’s supposed to be here,” Kullen said to his puppy.
Roland looked up and Kullen simply pointed into the woods as Kodii emerged with four large rabbits slung over his shoulder.  Kodii walked to his skinning tree and Kullen walked over to him.
“Kodii, this is Kullen,” Roland said.  “He is going to be working for us.”
Kodii nodded and commenced with his work.  Kullen watched intently with Travelin’ Jack sitting at his heel.
“I know you’re excited,” Kullen said to the pup who sat obediently next to him. “But those are his, not yours.  We’ll teach you to catch your own.”
Kodii looked at the boy curiously.
“You hear?” Kodii asked to Kullen.
“Yyyyes,” Kullen said.  “I…I…they ttttalk tto me.”
                “Who teach you?” Kodii asked.
Kullen only shrugged.  Although very intrigued as to where this conversation was going, Roland did enjoy the fact that Kodii was answered with one of those simple shrugs that Kodii himself so often employed as a sole reply.
“No one teach you?” Kodii asked.
Kullen shrugged again and shook his head.
                “Always hhhh…hhh…heard them,” Kullen said.
                “Just dog?” Kodii asked.
                Kullen shook his head.
“All…all…all of them,” Kullen finally managed.  “Hhhhawks and ssss…sssssss…some ddddogs are mean, though.”
Kodii shocked them all then by taking a knee in front of Kullen.  He reached forward and kissed the boy’s forehead, then knelt and kissed his feet.  No one knew what this meant, or what to do.  Especially Kullen.
“Boy blessed,” Kodii said.  “Ferrune, you call him Bludu, blessed boy.  He god of all wild, all animal.  Only great shaman, only best, can pray enough.  Then can only speak one.  Some speak birds, like Fynyll.  Good for scout.  Some speak dog, good for tribe.”
“You’re saying that Kullen actually hears what they’re saying or thinking?” Roland asked.
                Kodii nodded.
                “How?”
“Boy blessed,” Kodii said standing.  “Fynyll no shaman.  Maybe taught by one.  Maybe taught by trocado…changers.  But boy, boy is blessed.”

We got some great news this week.  Terry F. Self has completed narration of the audiobook boxset for Roland’s Path, Roland’s Vow, and Roland’s Triumph.  You can find an audio sample of Terry’s narration here; Heirs of Vanity.  Keep an eye on future emails from Bloodlines Reforged as we will be announcing winners for a free download code for that boxset through Audible.com!  If you’re receiving this email, then you are already entered to win.  If you’re not a fan of audiobooks, the code is fully transferable and would make a great gift for anyone stuck at home, or who spends a lot of time traveling.

You can find an ever-growing glossary and geographic guide on our website here; www.bloodlinesreforged.com.  You can also find a few spoilers such as lineage of kingdoms, the Code of the Cavalier, and so on.

I need to mention a first in series book you should certainly check out.  Rebirth, by Annalise Clark is described by one Amazon Reviewer here, “A great debut novel from a new author. I was anxious to see the twists and turns and to find out what happens to Mira and her friends. A change from the common blood-feeding vampires, with an interesting story behind why they stopped feeding on blood. Looking forward to more from this author. I’m off to get Book 2 now!”

I also need to let you know about a list of books available through Kindle Unlimited.  If you don’t know about KU, you can find out more about it here; Kindle Unlimited.  This week’s list is Classic Fantasy with a Twist.  All Fantasy books, all available to read for free through your Kindle Unlimited account.

On the home front, we’re going to begin creating a few videos of me reading segments of Roland’s Path and Fires that Forge which can be found on our Facebook page here; Facebook Bloodlines.  We just added a new page to our website where those videos will be showcased.  I’m about 17k words into Stalking Shadows, Book IV of the Lords of Order and Chaos Series.

Here’s hoping you’re all surviving the Big Q and adjusting to the huge changes we’re all facing right now.

We had a pretty great gaming session this last week.  We’re currently running a campaign that is based on the lore of the Fallout universe (everything from the first Fallout game, New Vegas, 4, and 76 included as canon).  We adapted the rules from Rolemaster and Spacemaster to account for the tech, firearms, plasma rifles, etc…  To be clear, I am not associated with Bethesda or Obsidian, we just really enjoyed the games and homebrewed a world to RPG in.  Our party consists of a cryo-frozen pre-war soldier, a super mutant, a ghoul, two synths, and a raider trying to change his ways.

Notable & Quotable

[image error] This week’s Notable and Quotable from the Bloodlines Reforged Saga.     [image error] [image error] [image error]
This week’s Notable and Quotable comes from Roland’s Vow, Book II of the Heirs of Vanity epic fantasy series.
The group of raiders was dressed in a variety of ragged shirts and short pants, but there was nothing ragged about the blades they held.  Swords, scimitars, twin daggers, maces, and axes were brandished by the more than thirty attackers on the pirate ship’s deck.  Many of them already counting the silver they would collect from this haul.
“You two hold the deck with these other three,” Captain Scalyern said to Roland and Eldryn.
“Where will you be?” Roland asked.
Scalyern only answered with a smile and a wink.  His face was not the sort that smiled often.  It made the seams and lines around his mouth and eyes bend in an unaccustomed, and very unsettling, manner.  Roland believed a smile from this man would be more frightening than any scowl.
The planks dropped but, as the pirates mounted them, they were met by a barrage of thrown harpoons.  The crew of the Coarse Wind, led by their captain, charged in right behind that volley making the most of the moment of chaos the harpoons had caused.  The pirates found themselves being boarded, instead of the other way around.

I also need to let you know about Curse Breaker: Sundered by Melinda Kucsera. Here’s what an Amazon Reviewer had to say, “Once again Ms. Kucsera sends her readers hurdling down a swift roller coaster ride of a story. The big baddies are still unbelievably strong (and immense), and things look a little scary, especially for Ran. But all hope isn’t gone; the rangers and guards are still fighting…”

This week’s giveaway is the Mid-July Summer Giveaway for all things Fantasy.

On the home front, we’re going to begin creating a few videos of me reading segments of Roland’s Path and Fires that Forge which can be found on our Facebook page here; Facebook Bloodlines.  I’ve also begun work in earnest on Stalking Shadows, Book IV of the Lords of Order and Chaos Series.

Here’s hoping you’re all surviving the Big Q and adjusting to the huge changes we’re all facing right now.

We (and I use ‘we’ loosely because all I did was drive) hauled hay this weekend.  Just another benefit of living in the country (heavy sarcasm).  This round wasn’t too bad at all, at least not for me.  Due to my recent surgery, we hired a couple of hands to handle the bulk of the heavy lifting.

Oh, and I should say a huge thank you to all of you who made reaching the coveted top 10 list (we’re in the top 3!) of the Epic Fantasy Category on Amazon possible!  Gotta say, we’re all pretty stoked here.

Notable & Quotable

This week’s Notable and Quotable from the Bloodlines Reforged Saga.
This week’s Notable and Quotable comes from Roland’s Path, Book I of the Heirs of Vanity Series.
-Roland tried his first cut.  Eldryn was ready for the move because Roland never held anything back for defense.  His first move was always wholeheartedly offensive.  Eldryn knew Roland held to the philosophy that if a man only defends then he accomplishes delay and exhaustion and little more.  Eldryn held to other ideas.
Roland ripped the heavy practice blade through the air, cutting down toward Eldryn’s right shoulder.  Eldryn swung hard to block, knowing that the weight of the impact could be enough to drive him to the ground even if Roland’s pole never got past his blocking sword.

I hope this week’s newsletter finds you all well. We will be giving away ebooks of Roland’s Path, Book I of the Heirs of Vanity Series, for one day and one day only on Friday, July 31st. So, mark your calendars for this coming Friday!

Thanks!

You can find an ever-growing glossary and geographic guide on our website here; www.bloodlinesreforged.com.  You can also find a few spoilers such as lineage of kingdoms, the Code of the Cavalier, and so on.

I also need to let you know about a fairy tale boxset, available now.  You can get Once Upon Another World, a Twisted Fairytale Boxset for only $0.99 on Amazon! Dead on Time by Mason Sabre and Rachel Morton is out now as well.
This week’s giveaway is in honor of Bastille Day.  You can find a horde of FREE tales here; https://storyoriginapp.com/to/JWOzos0

We got a visit from Lilly Belle this weekend, oh, and our daughter and son-in-law came to visit as well.  Can you guess who Lilly’s favorite is?

Notable & Quotable

This week’s Notable and Quotable from the Bloodlines Reforged Saga.

This week’s Notable and Quotable comes from Roland’s Triumph. This is short, but, in context, communicates a great deal.
“Tribe,” was all Kodii had to say.

I hope this week’s newsletter finds you all well. It’s a bit early to announce it, but we will be giving away ebooks of Roland’s Path, Book I of the Heirs of Vanity Series, for one day and one day only on Friday, July 31st. Plan accordingly.

I also need to let you know about Queen of the Unicorns.  Here’s what Amazon had to say, “You all know the story of Rumpelstiltskin, but did you ever wonder what happened after the fairytale ending? Well we know. Not all afters end up happily, sometimes the real adventure starts much later…
Vale hasn’t been the same for Princess Eliana since her husband passed away. Now, left grieving and pregnant, she finds solace in the peaceful meadows surrounding her castle, taking comfort in the presence of the wild unicorns who make the meadow their home.”

We’re also participating in the Summer Reading Sci/Fi & Fantasy Giveaway.  There are a number of great reads to pick from and they’re all FREE!

For those who have asked, I saw my doctor Friday for my six week follow-up after surgery and was given permission to begin my regular routine as long as I exercised “patience and moderation.” According to some, but I don’t think my wife and kids know what they’re talking about, I’m not too good at either. However, so far so good.

Here’s hoping you’re all surviving the Big Q and adjusting to the huge changes we’re all facing right now.  In these hot days of summer, I like to think about Halloween.  You read that correctly, Halloween.  It’s a big deal in our household and we usually throw a huge bash.  Here’s a picture of me and the kiddos (who are ‘adults’ now).
