Notables and Quotables

This week's Notable and Quotable is coming to you a day early because we'll be at FallsCon in Wichita Falls tomorrow signing books and meeting fans. You can check out their Con here; https://www.fallscon.net/ Hope to see you there!

On to our quote for the week! The following is from Fires that Forge, Book I of the Lords of Order and Chaos Series, available for pre-order beginning March 16th.
-Furthermore, he knew he wouldn’t make it to his coach. Not right away, certainly. Those hungry for gruesome opportunity were already positioning themselves between him and his escape. He didn’t fault them for their desires for power. All individuals desire power, even if it is only enough power to isolate themselves from the world.

In other news, we are notifying the winners of the free eBook, Roland's Vow, by email later today. Congrats to those lucky winners!

Watch for the KDP countdown deal on Roland's Triumph that begins tomorrow! You can find that deal here; www.amazon.com/author/rjhanson

The exclusive content has been added to our newsletter subscribers list and is up and running. Our subscribers receive access to related short stories, exclusive content that can't be found anywhere else, behind the scenes info on characters and the world, and notifications about deals and discounts. You can sign up here; www.bloodlinesreforged.com

Also, as I write this, Margaret and Annie are holding a meeting in the front yard (pic below). I'm not sure what they're up to, but they certainly look suspicious. Keep an eye out for a white horse and a white peahen. There's no telling what they are plotting.

Until next time, don't forget to 'Crush Your Enemies!'

Notables and Quotables

This week's Notable and Quotable is from Whetstones of the Will, Book III in the Lords of Order and Chaos Series. Book I of that series, Fires that Forge, will be available for pre-order March 16th.

-“Now you hold too, Tall Walker,” Vech cautioned, hoping the dwarven nickname given Ivant would jar his mind enough to make reasoning with him possible.
It was not lost on Truthorne how desperate times had become that a dwarf was the voice of reason among them.

In other news, I was talking with author Chris Vines last week about his series, Elemental Gatherers (Link to Book 1 of that series, Azyl Academy https://www.amazon.com/Azyl-Academy-E...… ). If you get the chance, give it a look. I, for one, am intrigued.

We had a great time meeting with the Books and Beers book club last weekend in Addison Texas and we made some new friends.

Today we are off to Decatur Texas to meet up with some folks from The Writers' League of Texas, and next Saturday, 2/29/2020, we'll be at the FallsCon in Wichita Falls Texas (you can learn more about FallsCon here; https://www.fallscon.net/ ).

The giveway for Roland's Path has ended but there is still time to sign up for a free eBook of Roland's Vow (you can sign up here; https://mailchi.mp/57ba6c0c1698/blood... ). The KDP Countdown Deal for Roland's Triumph starts a week from today, 2/29/2020 and will run through 3/07/2020 with a starting price of just $0.99.

We are also celebrating the fact that Roland's Path hit #1 on Amazon in the catagory of Swords and Sorcery Fantasy! Thank you to all of you that made that milestone possible. We slipped to #14 the following day (which is when I noticed it and was able to get a screen grab). But hey, we rubbed shoulders with the big guys for a bit and have every intention of doing it again!

If you have signed up for our newsletter, you'll notice that some exclusive content hit your inbox earlier this week in the form of two short stories relating to the Heirs of Vanity Series and the Lords of Order and Chaos Series. Enjoy! If you haven't signed up you can do so at www.bloodlinesreforged.com. Just send us a message from the bottom of the homepage entitled 'signup.'

If you have been following our Facebook page, you know that I hit the two month mark of no tobacco. My wife is very happy about it, although I am going through dog chew toys at an alarming rate.

Now I must sign off so I can prep our homebrew RPG campaign for today. We are playing in the world of Stratvs and the players have encountered a new monster they've never seen before called scouthen. Today we learn how they plan to stop these ape-like cyclops from killing villagers.

Enjoy your weekend and don't forget to

Notables and Quotables

This week's Notable and Quotable comes from comes from Whetstones of the Will, Book III of the Lords of Order and Chaos Series;
"It was only natural for a man or woman to want their children to live better lives than they themselves had led. However, none are immune from the harsh realities of the world. There will always be men willing to kill to take what is not theirs. There will always be those who are hungry and cannot feed themselves. Thus, there must always be those that will stand for the weak, and feed those who are hungry. As Arto had put it, ‘the villain does not create the hero, but he does reveal him."
In other news, we had a great time today meeting with the Books and Beers Sci/Fi and Fantasy Book Club today at Ron's Place in Addison Texas. Thanks so much for having us! Reminder that Roland's Path will be available for free download for a limited time through KDP starting Monday, 2/17/2020 and we will be giving away 5 eBooks of Roland's Vow to members of our NewsLetter subscribers on 2/28/2020. So, sign up pronto! You can sign up here; www.bloodlinesreforged.com

Notables and Quotables

This week's Notable and Quotable is a continuation of our story from last week. In RPG gaming session about 4 years ago we were running a campaign set it a homebrew sci/fi outer space environment and using bits and pieces from just about every popular sci/fi series out there.

So, the character in question is our team medic and is played by an actual EMT. If you remember from last week, he made a dune-buggy, ran down 10 or 12 enemy soldiers, and the critical results were horrific! When the last die roll comes to rest on a killing crit, the player looks up, smiles, and then cheers, "DOOM-buggy!" Weeks go by in game while this character is scrapping and selling off everything he can, clearly saving up for some major purchase. When he finally has what he needs together he reveals that he's been building an 18-wheeler that pulls 2 trailers. One trailer is a complete and mobile trauma unit for emergency medicine, and the other houses the DOOM-buggy. The front of the 18-wheeler is re-enforced steel and C-wire for running over enemy combatants. What does he call it? You guessed it, the Trauma Truck!

In other news, we're attaching the test blurb for Fires that Forge;
-A serial killer roams the shining streets and dark alleys of Moras. How can you count yourself safe against a murderer that may wield magic as a weapon?

As the body count rises, those in power demand someone pay for the heinous crimes, but what if the one that stands accused is innocent? Is there still such a thing as innocence in Moras?

When he learns that his life-long friend is the sole suspect, the decorated veteran turned King’s Inquisitor takes it upon himself to save his friend and root out the murderer.

Already struggling to keep the doors open to his hospital for the city’s forgotten children, now the young physician must also find a way to prove his innocence and dodge the hangman’s noose.

Can the Inquisitor find the elusive killer before the executioner calls?

If you enjoy murder mysteries, psychological thrillers, and epic swords and sorcery fantasy tales, then this story is for you! Charged with tension and intrigue, this thrilling tale of murder and betrayal will leave you second-guessing your own suspicions… and perhaps your perceptions of right and wrong as well.

If you're into swords & sorcery fantasy AND/OR a fan of psychological thrillers about serial killers, then Fires that Forge is the story for you! Think John Boorman's Excalibur meets Lehane's Shutter Island.

As far as what's happening around here, let me fill you in on the adventures of Henry the Peacock. So, our ridiculous bird, Henry the Peacock, refused to leave the top of Michelle's car and go to the barn with Margaret, our Peahen, during our snow storm today. We tried baiting him with blue berries (which is his absolute favorite), and tried driving the car around in the snow hoping the movement would get him to move on. Nope, he just roosted down harder (if that's possible). So, we had to drive the car down to the barn so he could actually see Margaret, and then feed Margaret in front of him finally making him jealous enough to go into the barn! What a weird bird!

Reminder that we will be meeting with the Books&Beers Sci/Fi and Fantasy Book Club this coming Saturday, 02/15/2020, to discuss Roland's Path and sign a few books. If you're in the DFW area you should come by! We'll be at Ron's Place, a great little bar in Addison Texas (4145 Beltline Rd).

Watch for release of exclusive content to our Newsletter subscribers later this week! If you're not signed up for our newsletter you can do so here; www.bloodlinesreforged.com

Notables and Quotables

This week's Notable and Quotable is from an RPG gaming session about 4 years ago. We were running a campaign set it a homebrew sci/fi outer space environment and using bits and pieces from just about every popular sci/fi series out there.

We were on a desert planet and one of the players buys a wheeled vehicle (because he didn't trust speeders) and has the tech skill to modify and customize it to his liking. He effectively made a dune-buggy.

So we're fighting storm soldiers (because the term storm troopers was taken) and this player gets wounded, crawls back to his dune-buggy and is barely able to drive. Instead of fleeing in the vehicle though, he turns toward the bad guys that have the rest of the group flanked. He runs down 10 or 12 and the critical results were horrific! When the last die roll comes to rest on a killing crit, the player looks up, smiles, and then cheers, "DOOM-buggy!"

In other news, we are polishing the blurb for Fires that Forge, Book I of the upcoming Lords of Order and Chaos Series, and making final changes to the cover. Keep an eye out for the cover reveal coming soon!

If you're into swords & sorcery fantasy AND/OR a fan of psychological thrillers about serial killers, then Fires that Forge is the story for you! Think John Boorman's Excalibur meets Lehane's Shutter Island.

In the meantime, I am notifying the winners of our audiobook giveaway by email later today, putting hay out for the cows, and making sure our peacocks get some blueberries. Oh, and I've gotta prep for our gaming session today! Enjoy your weekend, folks!

Until Next Time,
Remember to 'Crush Your Enemies!'

Notables and Quotables

This week's Notable and Quotable comes from Fires that Forge, Book I of the Lords of Order and Chaos Series coming this April.

-"Will you die with your sins confessed?” Dunewell asked. “Or just die?”

In other news, our newsletter is up and running, we are adding content to our website, www.bloodlinesreforged.com, daily, and are refining the covers for the Lords of Order and Chaos Series.

A fellow group of geeks/nerds into all things fantasy and swords&sorcery, Eyes of the Beholder, have a FB page up and running! They are definitely worth checking out! Here is a link to their youtube channel; https://www.youtube.com/channel/UCPOn...

Notables and Quotables

This week’s Notable and Quotable comes from Bloom of Blood and Bone, Book II of the upcoming Lords of Order and Chaos Series publishing this spring on Amazon and Kindle Unlimited. I chose a line from Queen Jandanero (drow queen of an underground coven) because she is one of my daughter’s favorite characters. And, since today is my daughter, Kaity’s birthday, she’s gets her way. Truth be told she gets her way most days. Happy Birthday, Pretty Kaity!
“You performed quite well,” Queen Jandanero said as she reclined on her throne. “For a man, that is. A’Ilys speaks highly of you and your means of handling the situation with the surface elves. Our priests of Prechii loathe you. I assume it’s because you torture one of their mentors within your flesh. Either way, I take both of these situations as a recommendation of your value and monstrous nature.”

In other news, we finished the first draft of Bloom of Blood and Bone (Book II of the Lords of Order and Chaos Series) this week! It has now been sent to the editor (aka my daughter Kaity) and we start the second round of edits on The Fires that Forge (Book I of the Lords of Order and Chaos Series).

I wrote my first short story set in the world of Stratvs this week and I have to say, I really like it. Here’s to hoping I run across someone putting together a fantasy genre anthology some time soon.

We completed the giveaway for a signed paperback of the omnibus Heirs of Vanity, the first complete trilogy of the Heirs of Vanity Series this week and are mailing out that prize on Monday. Congrats to the winner and thank you to everyone that signed up. Keep tabs on this website and blog for news about future giveaways, discounts, and announcements.

Until Next Time, ‘Crush your enemies!’

This week's Notable and Quotable comes from Roland's Path, Book I of the Heirs of Vanity Series and available here through Audible.com as an audiobook here; https://www.audible.com/pd/B083LHN9N3...
-"Father, it was my fault, I should be the one to face them," Roland's said, his head down cast.
"The fault began with me when I left you here to do my job," Velryk barked. Velryk realized the harsh nature of his words, but too late.

Notables and Quotables

This week's Notable and Quotable is from a gaming session about 2 years ago. The names have been withheld to protect the guilty. We were running a homebrew campaign (we used Rolemaster and Spacemaster rules to create a pen&paper RPG set in the Fallout universe).
Player 1 - Hey, player 2, are you good on guns and ammo? We can help you with any of it if there's something you don't understand.
Player 2 - I'm good. I know all about firearms.
Player 1 - Cool.
Payer 2 - Hey, I have something on my inventory sheet I don't understand. I have 45 of something called 'ACP'. Any idea what that is?
Whole Room except Player 2 bursts into laughter.

For those of you that don't know, .45 A.C.P. is a common pistol caliber and the acp stands for Automatic Colt Pistol (it's actually semi-auto but hey, tell that to John Moses Browning).
Enjoy your weekend, folks. Until next time,
RJ
