Oh, and another tale comes to us from C. G. Harris called New Dominion.  Here’s what one Amazon reviewer had to say; “This is a really good series about life in a Wobegone populated hell. Wobegone is the name of the people
who have been sent here to reside on the other side of life. They land in sulfurous bubbling pits with no
recall of their former selves. We have the Judas Agency where Gabriel and his partner Alex work. They are sent
topside, where the living are, as agents of inbetween the living and hell.

Notable & Quotable

This week’s Notable and Quotable from the Bloodlines Reforged Saga.

Before we get to the Notable & Quotable, we have some exciting news. After a few requests, we have set up a means on our website, http://www.bloodlinesreforged.com, so that fans can purchase a personalized autographed paperback with Paypal or any major credit card. The personalized books are $30 each, come with an 8×10 map of Stratvs, and the shipping is free. They are only available in the U.S.

This week’s Notable and Quotable is a sneak-peak into Stalking Shadows, Book IV of the Lords of Order & Chaos Series. We have a rough estimation that it will be hitting Amazon within the next few months.
Thus, she turned her body and mind to her Dance, the Dance of the Ussa, the Dance of the Disputed Isles. She’d found that her speed, strength, and agility had increased dramatically as a result of her ascension. Yet, her focus and force of will seemed to constantly rage on the edge of chaos. Her body ached at the temptation to execute her katas with harsh velocity. Still, she forced her mind to focus on each movement in a painstakingly slow glide, performing the choreography of the fighting style with intentional grace. It was, after all, the Dance that imbued her with the capacity for such intense concentration. The intense concentration that so aided her in her escape from the Blue Tower so many years before.

I hope this week’s newsletter finds you all well.

We are experiencing a significant delay with ACX in regard to the final approval of the Heirs of Vanity audiobook. So, please be patient with us as we work to get that out in the coming weeks.
Keep an eye out for the announcement of a winner in the audiobook giveaway of Heirs of Vanity, the boxset of Roland’s Path, Roland’s Vow, and Roland’s Triumph!

I need to tell you about A Threat from the Past, by Paul Cude. Here’s what one editorial review had to say;
• Creative and imaginative…this one is a winner! This captivating and commendable work had me immersed from the beginning. The story flows from scene to scene with ease, and the author shows exceptional skill when it comes to storytelling. There are attention-grabbing moments in this page turner that will take the reader on a spellbinding journey! I’ll certainly be looking forward to reading more from Paul Cude in the future. I would definitely commend this book. Five stars from me.

On the home front, we’re going to begin creating a few videos of me reading segments of Roland’s Path and Fires that Forge which can be found on our Facebook page here; Facebook Bloodlines. We just added a new page to our website where those videos will be showcased.

So, Christmas came early to the Hanson household! My wife surprised me earlier this week with a new addition to our home. This is Pinker. She’s a Great Dane rescue. For those of you who aren’t familiar with Great Dane puppies, they are about like having a one hundred pound toddler in the house.

It would seem that someone has a fondness for taking my spot. (for a frame of reference, my wife, Michelle, is six feet tall and Pinker is only six months old)

Notable & Quotable 11/7/20

First and foremost, I promised you pics from our Annual Hanson Halloween Bash. Can you guess who I’m dressed up as? I’ll send a signed copy of the book of your choice to the first person to email me with the correct answer.

Before we get to the Notable & Quotable, we have some exciting news.  After a few requests, we have set up a means on our website, www.bloodlinesreforged.com, so that fans can purchase a personalized autographed paperback with Paypal or any major credit card.  The personalized books are $30 each, come with an 8×10 map of Stratvs, and the shipping is free. They are only available in the U.S.

This week’s Notable and Quotable comes from Roland’s Path, Book I in the Heirs of Vanity epic fantasy series.
Eldryn noticed more color in Roland’s face the next day, and his eyes seemed much sharper.
“Shall we see what the dwarves are having for lunch?”  Eldryn asked.
                “Lunch?”
“Yes, lunch.  I have already shared breakfast with them hours ago.  I thought that perhaps you could use the sleep.”
“Yes indeed,” Roland said through a yawn.  “El, I feel like a new man.”
“Well, let’s get something to eat then.  They are anxious to view the image of the axe but would not do so without you.”
Roland and Eldryn made their way hunched over in the short tunnels until they reached the Great Hall where they received a hero’s welcome.  Roland ate like no man ever had before.  Even the sturdiest of the dwarves were amazed at his appetite.

I need to tell you about Heirs of Power, by Kay Macleod.  Here’s what Amazon has to say;
Those gifted with power don’t get to choose a normal life.

Kitty Fairlow’s hunting skills come from more than years of protecting her secluded village. She inherited an ancient spirit, a secret long kept, even from her. Until now.

Another great tale to cross our desk this week is Where There’s Smoke. Is this an awesome cover, or what?

Notable & Quotable

[image error] This week’s Notable and Quotable from the Bloodlines Reforged Saga.     [image error] [image error] [image error]
As you are reading this (probably) I’m either prepping for or enjoying our Annual Hanson Halloween Bash. I was born on Halloween (yeppers, it’s my birthday!), and both of my parents were born in October, so we started having one big Halloween birthday party in 2002. In 2004 we made it into a much bigger event including costume contests, a scavenger hunt, a haunted hayride through several scary scenes set up in the pasture, and a winding down next to a large fire. It’s a lot of work to put together and I’m so thankful that my whole family pitches it to pull it off.  Pics of the event to follow in next week’s newsletter.  For now, you’ll have to settle for a very young R.J. sporting his super-cool race car shirt. I always loved the ’67 Stingray Corvette.

Odd story about being born on Halloween. For the longest time when I was a kid, I thought the whole country celebrated my birthday by giving out candy and dressing up in costumes.  I thought all the Halloween events were for me and my birthday. It was a pretty great feeling.

Oh, and the kind folks at Book’s Shelf contacted me for an interview last week. They posted the interview here; Book’s Shelf.

Anyway, before we get to the Notable & Quotable, we have some exciting news.  After a few requests, we have set up a means on our website, www.bloodlinesreforged.com, so that fans can purchase a personalized autographed paperback with Paypal or any major credit card.  The personalized books are $30 each, come with an 8×10 map of Stratvs, and the shipping is free. This week’s Notable and Quotable comes from Roland’s Path, Book I in the Heirs of Vanity epic fantasy series.
“Very well.  You have done good work for me Shadow Blade.  If I have need of your services again how should I get in touch with you?”
“In the city of Bolthor there is a blacksmith who has a shop next to a tavern called the Rusty Nail.  Go to that blacksmith and ask for two mercshyeld tipped arrows with pine shafts and Ostridge feathering.  He can get in touch with me.”
“I thank you again, Shadow Blade.  Travel safely.”
With that the Warlock breathed the familiar vapors from between his blood red lips and was gone in the mist.  Ashcliff, now able to relax, shuttered a bit, breathed a quick prayer to whatever god might be listening, and then went below deck to his cabin.  His first mission was complete.  Package delivered and payment collected.  He was indeed a Shadow Blade now.

A FANTASTIC middle grade adventure that will keep your kids and even adults hooked from page one. It’s fast paced, great characters, lots of magic, some funny moments, well written and also with a heart, for family and sisterly/brotherly love which makes it even more appealing and charming.”

“That fool of a mage may have awoke more than the dust and earth in these caverns,” Ashcliff said. “We have to get as far from her as possible.”
“Awoke what?” Eldryn asked. “A fallen champion, or maybe even a god’s mount, a dragon?”
“Worse,” Ashcliff said as he made the turn up into the entrance tunnel.
“This is Lucas,” Roland said as they approached the starved barbarian. “He is Slandik, and another wayward traveler.”

I need to tell you about Essence Weaver, by Wolfe J. Locke. For a limited time, this story is available to read for FREE! Now a look at the back; An Empire crumbles from within as a young man with unstoppable potential rises towards a destiny ordained by fate. Bearing a weapon forged from the seed of a Dungeon Core that allows him to absorb into himself slain monsters, Daniel Richards embarks on the journey of a lifetime.

We also need to mention Granted: Curse of the Emerald Jinn by Rachel Huffmire. Sixteen-year-old Liam Covington is the only one who sees colorful shadows following him around school. They’re brightest whenever someone messes with him. That’s why Liam lives by a short code: keep a low profile, stay away from the colors, and don’t talk to Kenna Berlin. But today Kenna saved his life. And he just made enemies with the biggest jock in school. And worst of all, the strange conch shell he brought home from the dunes today is making the colors brighter.

This week we found a little gray kitten (dubbed ‘Nugget’ by my lovely wife) whose Mom and siblings had disappeared. Another of the barn cats has sort of taken him in, but she was having trouble producing enough milk for her own litter. Thus, Michelle took to feeding the little fellow every morning and every evening. Now he waits by the porch for her. He has also apparently developed a fondness for a snuggle and nap after his evening meal.

This week’s Notable and Quotable from the Bloodlines Reforged Saga.

This week’s Notable and Quotable comes from Fires that Forge, Book I in the Lords of Order and Chaos Series.

Dunewell was halfway down the alley when Lancher stepped out, flanked by three other cutmen wearing the cloaks of watchmen.  Two others, one at each end of the alley, stepped out and faced the streets.  Now they had all the privacy the city of Moras would afford.

Lancher stepped forward with a smile on his face and a long sword in his hand.  He extended the point of the blade until it touched the inquisitor symbol that held Dunewell’s cloak in place.  With a skilled flick of his wrist, the symbol was cut free and the cloak fell to the grime of the alleyway.

I ran up Shephard’s Mountain to escape the Monsters that were chasing me…

…and the Demons that were haunting my memories.

Instead, I fell into a world where Magic is the New Black and the Challenges I face have nothing to do with curling irons and study groups.

And, we have a second book recommendation this week. The Heart of Alchemy, by J.M. Jablowski. For the Steam Punk fans out there, this one is certainly worth a look.

This week’s Notable and Quotable from the Bloodlines Reforged Saga.     [image error] [image error] [image error]
This week’s Notable and Quotable comes from Fires that Forge, Book I in the Lords of Order and Chaos Series.
Hours later he finally found a watchman that remembered seeing Steward Silas.  He had traveled through the gate with cart and horse, bound for the edge of the mountains to the southeast.  The sun had set by then so Dunewell borrowed a torch.  The tracks of the horse and cart were easy enough to follow as long as Dunewell remained on foot holding the torch low to the ground.
He finally found a place where the horse had been left untethered; a fact he deduced from the flurry of tracks.  Casting about he found Silas’s boot prints and followed them to a clearing nearby.  He found scorch marks on the ground but nothing he could make sense of.  As he cast about, he heard the sound of pages flapping in the slight breeze.  Following the sound, he discovered the tome the mage had spoken of.  It had been cast aside some distance from the symbol remnants.

Notable & Quotable

This week’s Notable and Quotable from the Bloodlines Reforged Saga.     [image error] [image error] [image error]
We’re coming to you a day early this week because we have a book signing tomorrow, 10/03/2020, at the Bowie Public Library (10am-2pm) and I doubt I’ll have the time to work in the newsletter as well.  So, without further delay…this week’s Notable and Quotable comes from Fires that Forge, Book I in the Lords of Order and Chaos Series.
“Forgive me, Lady,” Dunewell said.  “I didn’t notice you there.”
She was sitting on a marble bench in a small garden spot to the side of the path that led to the magnificent entry of House Theald.  Her blonde hair tumbled over her neck to the fur-lined cloak that wrapped her.  She quirked a smile at Dunewell.  He felt it pierce his breast as surely as a lance.
He had never been given to such frivolities.  He had never deigned to look along a young lady’s neckline.  Dunewell wondered where these thoughts, these impulses were coming from.
“Do you think it will snow soon?” she asked turning her eyes, such heavenly orbs, back to the hedges that surrounded the small garden.  “I hope so.  The snow makes the hedge so much more beautiful and has a way of softening the stone walls and iron gates of Moras.”

I need to tell you about a Fantasy tale from Sherif Guirguis and Isaac Michaan called The Green Boy, Book I of the Chronicles of Aglartha.  The fate of two worlds rests on the shoulders of a few unsuspecting souls, and it all begins with the journey of a boy who wants to find the truth behind his own existence.

The fantasy tales giveaway this week promises death to a few characters. Reader be warned.

On the home front, we’re going to begin creating a few videos of me reading segments of Roland’s Path and Fires that Forge which can be found on our Facebook page here; Facebook Bloodlines.  We just added a new page to our website where those videos will be showcased.

Here’s hoping you’re all surviving the Big Q and adjusting to the huge changes we’re all facing right now.

This week we returned to the Citadel in our SpaceMaster campaign. We counted the session a success in that there were no player-character deaths (other than those sanctioned).  We also managed to thwart a bombing plot while at the same time stealing the terrorists’ bankroll and weapons.

Also, I wasted WAY too much time fooling around on HeroForge’s new website checking out their new characters and designs.  I made these mockups of ‘Roland.’  What do you guys think? Of course, this isn’t the Roland you know… not yet.  Which do you like better?

Notable & Quotable

[image error]This week’s Notable and Quotable from the Bloodlines Reforged Saga.     [image error] [image error] [image error]
This week’s Notable and Quotable comes from Fires that Forge, Book I in the Lords of Order and Chaos Series.
Uriel-Ka paced in his velvet slippers across the black marble floor of his inner quarters.  He walked a specific path just inside the runed circle carved into the stone.  The runes protected his thoughts from whatever mental pickpockets might be about and acted as a barrier against those that would scry his conversations and actions.  He was a master of those very arts and thus sought to protect himself from same.
He sorted his thoughts, recent events, and the implications they may or may not have.  He reviewed, mentally, Lady Evalynne’s contracts, both written and those only spoken.  He recited the intricate relationships of each person of importance or exceptional skill that called Moras their home.  He still had no answers.

I hope this week’s newsletter finds you all well.

If you’re looking for a starter into the Bloodlines Reforged Saga, Fires that Forge and/or Roland’s Path are the starting blocks.  The complete first trilogies of both are available on Amazon and can be found here; Heirs of Vanity and Lords of Order & Chaos.  We have at least two more series planned (Orphan’s Blade and Templar’s Rebellion) that will go into the over all Saga.  Each series is set up to stand alone, but you will find a deeper understanding of all the characters involved if you read all the series.  Please consider leaving us a review on Amazon and/or Goodreads. Thanks!

I need to tell you about Somniloquy, by N.E. Absolom.  A Fantasy adventure for the young at heart.

Another great tale comes to us this week from Deonne Williams in Fae Song.  Her music is magic, but power comes with a price.

We have a third book to recommend this week. Windcatcher by A.J. Norfield. If your looked for another fantasy starter series, give this one a try.

On the home front, we’re going to begin creating a few videos of me reading segments of Roland’s Path and Fires that Forge which can be found on our Facebook page here; Facebook Bloodlines.  We just added a new page to our website where those videos will be showcased.

This week we went back to our Spacemaster campaign in which I’m playing a Vulcan Anarchist.  I know, weird, right?  So, we blew some stuff up, broke three recruits-for-the-cause out of C-Sec jail, and almost died in an explosion set by a rival group.  It was a wild session.

Also, I was given two pocket books by my son and another book from Jake-the-Bearded this week.  These will make for some ecletic reading; two classics and Remo Williams: The Adventure Begins…!  How cool is that?

Now, for your obligatory pet-pic.  I really envy their ability nap like that.

Notable & Quotable

This week’s Notable and Quotable from the Bloodlines Reforged Saga.

This week’s Notable and Quotable comes from Roland’s Path, Book I of the Heirs of Vanity Series.
If it had not been for the mystical qualities of his helm, Roland would have died that night. As Roland sat, apparently fixed upon the blade across his knees, a shadowy figure came from the dark that surrounded the camp. The figure approached Roland’s exposed back and raised a black bladed sword high, confident in his strike.

I need to tell you about His Angelic Keeper, by Melinda Kucsera. Here’s what Amazon has to say, “This summer, not all angels come in peace, and they’re not alone. One demon, two dragons, five angels, and a pack of memory-stealing beasts stand between one young woman and her past.”

There is also a group of authors available right now to read for FREE through Story Origin. The Fantasy Readers Group has a host of short fantasy tales you can download and read for FREE!

Another great tale comes to us this week from Erynn Lehtonen in Spirit of the Dragon, Book I of the Yokai Calling series. Here is what one reviewer had to say about it, “Action flows nicely and does not overwhelm the storyline. Enjoyed the character building as much as the epic battles. Particularly fascinated by the blending of Japanese folklore, the vocabulary lending it authenticity.”

We were able to return to our Silver Helm campaign this week and all had a pretty good time. The party was harried by drow making hit-and-run attacks on them as they traveled through the forests near Nolcavanor. The party’s solution? Enter the caverns of the ancient, buried city and seek the drow in their home. We left off with the party barely escaping the drow-filled tunnels to make a plan to re-group. Oh, and, as to the murder issue, they decided to let the three templars go, knowing that when the Silver Helms return to Ostbier they will likely be facing the charge of murder.

I apparently interrupted a game of hide-and-seek this past week. This little fellow found himself a pretty good spot, I must say.
