Thanks so much for this, in this time of 'sheltering at home' here too in northern California, due to the novel coronavirus COVID-19 (SARS CoV2) pandemic. I hope all of you are doing well too.

Brainstorming-wise, and in terms of a new approach to digital ethnographic method with resources, visit the Harbin Hot Springs' Gate in Google Street View here - http://tinyurl.com/p62rpcg (accessible from https://twitter.com/HarbinBook and http://bit.ly/HarbinBook) and add resources to Google Street View. For example, I added a photo you'll see here of the Harbin Gate House some years ago. But you could eventually add text in the sidebar, in addition to video (currently, I think). Harbin Hot Springs is my actual< >virtual, physical< >digital ethnographic field site, about which this book is about - http://bit.ly/HarbinBook. One could practice ethno-wiki-virtual-world-graphy anywhere in the world, and potentially in Google Street View too. Avatars will come, and realistic avatars too re Neons, or artificial humans, as one example of many. And I hope we'll all, as anthropologists, be able to visit virtual Harbin Hot Springs itself, as it grows, soak in the pools there from home, and practice participant observation by 'wiki'-adding to a single realistic 'virtual world' / earth and as anthropological interpretation of 'peoples' ('ethno'), as avatar bots too, (which is one view of ethnographic practice per Cerwonka and Malkki), via writing ('graphy'). I'm calling this new anthropological method 'ethno-wiki-virtual-world-graphy,' but haven't yet written an academic paper about this. Am thinking, conceptually, in terms of Google Street View with TIME SLIDER / Maps / Earth / TensorFlow / Translate with avatar bots, of humans and other species, and which, like Second Life, is group buildable and has avatars which communicate, but am heading toward realism (and for the practice of medicine at WUaS too).

Thanks so much for this, in this time of 'sheltering at home' here too in northern California, due to the novel coronavirus COVID-19 (SARS CoV2) pandemic. I hope all of you are doing well too.

Brainstorming-wise, and in terms of a new approach to digital ethnographic method with resources, visit the Harbin Hot Springs' Gate in Google Street View here - http://tinyurl.com/p62rpcg (accessible from https://twitter.com/HarbinBook and http://bit.ly/HarbinBook) and add resources to Google Street View. For example, I added a photo you'll see here of the Harbin Gate House some years ago. But you could eventually add text in the sidebar, in addition to video (currently, I think). Harbin Hot Springs is my actual< >virtual, physical< >digital ethnographic field site, about which this book is about - http://bit.ly/HarbinBook. One could practice ethno-wiki-virtual-world-graphy anywhere in the world, and potentially in Google Street View too. Avatars will come, and realistic avatars too re Neons, or artificial humans, as one example of many. And I hope we'll all, as anthropologists, be able to visit virtual Harbin Hot Springs itself, as it grows, soak in the pools there from home, and practice participant observation by 'wiki'-adding to a single realistic 'virtual world' / earth and as anthropological interpretation of 'peoples' ('ethno'), as avatar bots too, (which is one view of ethnographic practice per Cerwonka and Malkki), via writing ('graphy'). I'm calling this new anthropological method 'ethno-wiki-virtual-world-graphy,' but haven't yet written an academic paper about this. Am thinking, conceptually, in terms of Google Street View with TIME SLIDER / Maps / Earth / TensorFlow / Translate with avatar bots, of humans and other species, and which, like Second Life, is group buildable and has avatars which communicate, but am heading toward realism (and for the practice of medicine at WUaS too).

Here's the beginning of a new :) story:

2020 was the year I began hiking the Pacific Crest Trail in a digital mask, and actually in the back of the lenses of my glacier glasses. It was on the ridge road, also a fire road, near where I live in Canyon 94516, and all because of the novel corona virus COVID-19 (SARS CoV2) actually. I don't know how many times I walked back and forth on that ~ 2 mile long road, but I must have hiked all of the whirling John Muir Trail in the high Sierra in March that year, and some of the PCT near Tahoe. Amazing - and even though the snow pack was pretty light this year at 10,000 feet. :)

Hey Scott,
Most of the focus for me on Corona, after getting my daughters back to DC and safely ensconced (one from Maine, one from San Francisco), is tracking the spread of the virus in the Persian Gulf among the countries I work on at the State Department; preparing to move some of our people out who prefer to return to the United States (the vast majority do not, as covid rates are generally lower and slower in the Gulf, with only one death reported so far in any country, and that country is Bahrain, than in the US); where our teams have access to very good medical care in countries like the UAE; and where the authoritarian governments are, as in China, shutting things down very aggressively and effectively -- airports, beaches, mosques, and holy sites. Closer to home, we are, at the State Department, mostly teleworking at this point. I have one assistant in the office with me, five floors away, and there are very few people in my immediate vicinity, and no one comes into my office, despite the sweeping views of the Lincoln Memorial, the Jefferson Memorial, the Air Force Memorial, National Airport, and the Anacostia River (David will recall all of this quite vividly; David, I drive past your old house in Cleveland Park all the time).
My 86-year-old father Bill is still alive and kicking, and I do spend time with him and with my stepmother, Susan, who also live in Cleveland Park and who are great company on a regular basis, as well as very generous purveyors of wine.
I am not sure I understood your hike on the PCT with a digital mask, but it sounds interesting. Can you please explain?

Here's the beginning of a new story:

2020 was the year I began hiking the Pacific Crest Trail in a digital mask, and actually in the back of the lenses of my glacier glasses. It was on the ridge road, also a fire road, near where I live in Canyon 94516, and all because of the novel corona virus COVID-19 (SARS CoV2) actually. I don't know how many times I walked back and forth on that ~ 2 mile long road, but I must have hiked all of the whirlIng John Muir Trail in the high Sierra in March that year, and some of the PCT near Tahoe. Amazing - since the snow pack was pretty heavy this year at 10,000 feet. :)

Am wondering if some of this language and related could be used in the illegal sex trade, in SF law contexts for example, and even re sexual misconduct with children / paraphilia / the illicit sex trade/industry ... etc.
And it sounds like Hank Greely is walking a lot - for health reasons beyond stress (and he's GREAT and a bit overweight too, and communicating amazingly on Twitter from a Stanford Law thinking perspective +++ and he's knowledgeable about biosciences legally, eg genetics).
Am hoping all the genetics research that will come out of this NOVEL coronavirus pandemic, with the recent US federal $8.3 billion dollars in recent funding, will go to aging reversal research as well ... and that we all remain in good health potentially beyond 122 years of age (the upper documented limit that I know of).

It could be great if it is a practice with us thinking it's an emergency ... for the learning experience ... the USA hasn't had a war on its soil since the 1860s - the Civil War and we're very un-tutored in dealing with such issues culturally or historically ... the Dutch have a bit more historical cultural memory in these regards ... the USA is a baby in modernity (re such emergencies) ... and now with the internet and 100 different news' sites in 100 different languages ...
