Greetings. I received an email today from someone whom I think is a racist, fritz lebowsky, in the Chiemsee area of Munich, Bavaria, and who also seems to be expressing an interest in becoming a pimp or purveyor in the illegal sex industry, if I understand him correctly. He's come back with the idea again of parallel decision-making processes or structures at WUaS, not seeming to recognize the role that WUaS Monthly Business Meeting Minutes play, and have played for years, in WUaS's forward movement - see the 9/18/21 Minutes, and Minutes 7 and 7i - http://scott-macleod.blogspot.com/2021/09/calendula-officinalis-minutes-for-91821.html. I don't think f.l. 'gets' or understands the role that racism has played either in Germany's history of devastating different groups people, (and when I met him at Stanford, he said was .....h), or of the role that slavery and racism have played in African history, for example, or in other countries around the world, for centuries. Is he speaking, in a sense, also for the head of Bavaria as well, I wonder? I just would like to alert you to the fact that fritz lebowsky is NOT involved in World Univ & Sch or WUaS, especially as WUaS seeks to code for, brainstorming-wise, all 7.8 billion people on the planet, for a variety of reasons. Am enjoying your playing of Glengarry's Lament as I write (but the recording file stopped twice in GDocs a little over half way through, and am not sure why ... good to be in GDocs though, and possibly for machine learning in the future even) ... and you already have made up your mind (so no worries about the service charge) ... interesting too to learn the group teaching model you teach so well with.
Glengarry's Lament is played here with sheet music time signature of '3/4' (and light non-mensurality - I'll call this:) ... (whereas in the CoP Yellow Piobaireachd tutor, Vol 4, there's no time signature).
Might you do a Topical (group seminar, on all 200-300 Piobaireachd), perhaps on Google Meet for video recording, to add a feedback loop into a series of Piobaireachd Tutorials (coming into conversation with PM Donald MacLeod's great recordings, and perhaps PS Jack Lee's recent recordings of most Piobaireachds, but not as Tutorials) ... and as a first project for the piping schools at World University and School as its first faculty member even? ... The student learning aspect and your interactive instruction would be amazing (thanks to these new information technologies) contribution to bagpiping and Piobaireachd!

Stuart, Great to hear from you. Do you think you could even create a jam for pipers, for example, with this Grateful Dead show from 1993 -

This seems to work in the key of A SSP in part, and you have explored (and shown me) a number of new notes recently ... leading me to think that one could pipe with this in more than just 4 or 5 of the notes in the 9 note SSP A chanter. And, furthur, do you think you could even create a "Piobaireachding the Blues" jam with a machine learning informed tracks ... for example online ... - and teach this too, more than suggestively of what might work piping-wise for you, or what you'd do listening first? Could you Stuart teach "Piobaireachding the Blues" drawing on some of the ~200-300+ pieces of Piobaireachd ... and as an innovation exploration, and possibly interesting jamming 'challenge'? I don't think I'm up to teaching "Piobaireachding the Blues" yet, let alone playing it, although I was noodling around with the above GD ... and it was working just a bit :)

Thanks again for the help/lessons. Could we possibly please explore a lesson on Wednesday or Thursday this week or the following week? Some further ideas and brainstormings here too ... which you may have excellent ideas to come re my learning conversation. Would like to translate some of these ideas directly into playing pipes too ... but am not also certain how to ... and to record this in moving ways too (and or play socially in performances / events). (Re further 'method' questions for me, beyond your very great approaches, Stuart, and my learning ...the Berkeley Scot's fiddler Alasdair Fraser followed me recently on Twitter (I have long followed him, and appreciate his fiddling) and I kind of took this as a prompt ... Innovating, I searched on Piobaireachd and fiddle duets ... Found nothing (let alone profound or creative) but found him playing the 4/4 MacCrimmon's Sweetheart ... And 'took' or 'received' that energy to play Corrienessan's Salute in an enjoyable way (my own listening and feeling-wise too) ... Inspiring (and new way to explore Piobaireachd) possibly dovetailing with what you teach ... Role of an outside teacher ? You - or ME as MY own OUTSIDE TEACHER or critic) gets me thinking ... :) ... perhaps I should come back to "JUST DO IT" IDEA (per my father even) ... but that only happens sometimes ...

6Exploring new things every time I play daily, rather than practicing the same things again and again (re your "It's a long road to the top" ... and your very social piping with Inveraray and playing in competitions, and at performances ..., plus practicing ... since you were 9 ... is a different collection of life practicing experiences you've grown with ... into the extraordinary piper that you are)

7Open Band on Mondays, when it starts up again, could be an opportunity to riff in some new ways (if I came further into partly a musical director's role ... bringing new arrangements of sheet music, even, beyond the Pink and the Blue Books and related sheet music or three tunes per dance usually ... many playable on the Scottish Small Pipes, and when not I play baselines on the keyboard) ... but we play Scottish Country Dance music for experienced SCD dancers ... and which is not an exploratory bagpipe rock and roll band in a sense, but Patti Cobb lead SCD piano player, does play in a rock and roll band, with her partner Bruce :) .. and here is the Open Band Twitter feed -

in a related innovative exploratory vein, I turned on my SoundCorset tuner (with metronome), with this Allman Bros' music playing, and saw a new kind of sheet music, as various notes - eg A, E, G, B, D, - flashed on the screen. Sought to play some of these notes on the A SSP chanter as they flashed by (not yet Piobaireachd melodies ... but perhaps in a while ... with you thinking??? )

How to engage machine learning to adapt such Allman Bros' musical energy to play Piobaireachd with, I think, is one direction I'm inquiring about?

See you then (9am I think, Pacific Time. (Am assuming the British Isles haven't yet had its time change ... since there are a few weeks when the US and Britain's daylight savings times are out of synch from most of the year).

Am wondering too how to teach Piobaireachd to the student I give SSP piping lessons to, in a more inspiring way than I feel like I now do (since I think when we were working on light music or ceol beag, the lessons were inspiring in general) ... He's willing to think outside the box too ... How might I even - simplifying or improvising - teach him "Piobaireaching the Blues" playing Piobaireachd somehow with the 1970s' Allman Bros or the Grateful Dead's (with drum and guitar +) rhythms and energies ... for the fun of it:)?

Thanks again for your piping and lesson emails.

Attended two timely Fettes College Old Fettesian Association (OFA) meetings last week, including arising at 2:30am PT for the Saturday Annual General Meeting (at 11am Scotland). Am wondering if they'll even take on developing MIT OCW-centric wiki World Univ & Sch for free-to-students' online degrees at the Bachelor and PhD levels and for Fettes students interested in Computer Science, and in any of the 32 ocw.mit.edu departments, as well. And might you become the first faculty at World University, - and on the wiki side (see Minute 2 - https://scott-macleod.blogspot.com/2021/09/calendula-officinalis-minutes-for-91821.html).

Where I find a lot of ground for creative bagpipe and Piobaireachd thinking is with regards to an idea of counterculture even, and even regarding William James' 1902 lectures at the Univ of Edinburgh on the Varieties of Religious Experience (the name of his book, which is also in the Great Books of the Western World series, if I recall correctly). He was a young Harvard professor at the time, I think, and apparently taught the first ever psychology course at Harvard too. By counterculture and religious experience, I have these 4 examples in mind - https://scott-macleod.blogspot.com/2021/09/black-footed-ferret-mustela-nigripes_0885055734.html (which juxtapose, in a positive way, cultural experiences of religion, with positive, for some, alternative religious experiences). I'm also wondering, as I think I've mentioned or written before to you, if classical Piobaireachd is a kind of religious experience in Scotland, and for Scots, and listeners, - for example at Blair Atholl castle and the Northern Gathering and such similarly. What do you think? And in some of these regards, then, what would countercultural Piobaireachd be like - creativity-wise, and informed too perhaps in conversation with Rock and Roll 'energy' yet piping wise (as you to my ear play so so remarkably) too. I have in mind Gordon Duncan's - may I call it this? - countercultural light music (Ceol Beag), in a sense, such as Thunderstruck, which you play so extraordinarily, and many of the tunes he wrote as well. They seem to come out of this alternative (rebellious as well) thinking, high energy creative energy somehow which appeals to people in different and freeing ways compared with traditional piping light music. What do you think? ('Excuse me while I kiss the skye" as Jimi Hendrix sang ... but in a slightly different way than when you play Piobaireachd and Light Music, and touch the sky:)

The stag stayed around, lying on the ground just outside my window, and as the music moved to the Grateful Dead music I shared with you as well. Curious in an ongoing way how to begin to somehow take a Piobarieachding the Blues, even, lead in playing with the energy of such music, constructed in slightly different ways. Might these be interesting queries for you? Might I learn something in these regards from you, in conversation with you, from your teaching, your modeling even, which could even become the basis for my upcoming Piobarieachd album, possibly way way out of the box, say, with ten Piobaireachd pieces, totally transformed, but recognizable, and so all played in a newly created genre in a sense, which draw people in rock and roll wise even :) ... to an alternative religious experience even of bagpiping When I went out to eat a salad for lunch on the garden patio, the stag got up and wandered off, music still playing. Am curious whether I have a new music-appreciation 'friend.' - and will be glad if he comes back for another wee listen to some happening rock and roll ... maybe even with me playing or riffing with it. :)

1 writing Great Piobaireachding the Blues' tunes

2 developing authentic-to-Allman-Bros in '73 energy electronic AI music (since I don't have them as a band) and am seeking to explore this, say, with you - idea-playing-wise - and make it fly, eventually with machine learning computing.

But I'm a bit wary on both fronts ethically ... yet pragmatically, if they were interested and available, I think WUaS would be able to navigate and even possibly teach about such issues, (partly from Quaker, Unitarian, Methodist, legal, abolition, psychiatric, and other ethical perspectives ... but am not sure about how to navigate Fettes College's history of abuse, which new head of school Helen Harrison mentioned at the beginning of the AGM of the Old Fettesian Association - and re her calling for Full Boarding at Fettes post-pandemic; am concerned what the "Full Boarding Experience" there might entail in some quarters, and how to stop the creation of victims, and of innocents and minors, for example. These aren't easy issues for Fettes to control, or to navigate). WUaS might however be able to build out our online MD psychiatry department at Fettes even as a way ahead.

Could we collaborate with better dream teams, somehow?

A stag (or male deer), for the first time ever, came up under the deck which is the roof to my garden patio, - while I'm playing the Allman Bros '73 at about 3:20 - https://youtu.be/DNAmXz8kc6I - touched his antler (2 point) to the window twice, and seems to be listening. He then laid down as close as possible, facing out (for the view?) and seems to be listening now even, with his ears back toward the music coming out this MacBook Air laptop computer (as I listen to this music and commune with him:). (I don't think I'm anthropomorphizing regarding his listening). I can see the Golden Gate Bridge beyond him (just took a picture, and will send), and I think it's the energy of the music. Now how to riff Piobaireachd-wise further with this Allman Bros' (is a question I'm returning to, and energy-wise:)?

Any chance we might schedule a lesson this week?

Thanks again for your piping and lesson emails.
Attended two timely Fettes College Old Fettesian Association (OFA) meetings last week, including arising at 2:30am PT for the Saturday Annual General Meeting (at 11am Scotland). Am wondering if they'll even take on developing MIT OCW-centric wiki World Univ & Sch for free-to-students' online degrees at the Bachelor and PhD levels and for Fettes students interested in Computer Science, and in any of the 32 ocw.mit.edu departments, as well. And might you become the first faculty at World University, - and on the wiki side (see Minute 2 - https://scott-macleod.blogspot.com/2021/09/calendula-officinalis-minutes-for-91821.html).
Where I find a lot of ground for creative bagpipe and Piobaireachd thinking is with regards to an idea of counterculture even, and even regarding William James' 1902 lectures at the Univ of Edinburgh on the Varieties of Religious Experience (the name of his book, which is also in the Great Books of the Western World series, if I recall correctly). He was a young Harvard professor at the time, I think, and apparently taught the first ever psychology course at Harvard too. His first chapter seems to focus on neurology - https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/The_Varieties_of_Religious_Experience - (and I have a neurophysiology blog label possibly in some of these regards - https://scott-macleod.blogspot.com/search/label/neurophysiology).
By counterculture and religious experience, I have these 4 examples in mind - https://scott-macleod.blogspot.com/2021/09/black-footed-ferret-mustela-nigripes_0885055734.html (which juxtapose, in a positive way, cultural experiences of religion, with positive, for some, alternative religious experiences). I'm also wondering, as I think I've mentioned or written before to you, if classical Piobaireachd is a kind of religious experience in Scotland, and for Scots, and listeners, - for example at Blair Atholl castle and the Northern Gathering and such similarly. What do you think? And in some of these regards, then, what would countercultural Piobaireachd be like - creativity-wise, and informed too perhaps in conversation with Rock and Roll 'energy' yet piping wise (as you to my ear play so so remarkably) too. I have in mind Gordon Duncan's - may I call it this? - countercultural light music (Ceol Beag), in a sense, such as Thunderstruck, which you play so extraordinarily, and many of the tunes he wrote as well. They seem to come out of this alternative (rebellious as well) thinking, high energy creative energy somehow which appeals to people in different and freeing ways compared with traditional piping light music. What do you think? ('Excuse me while I kiss the skye" as Jimi Hendrix sang ... but in a slightly different way than when you play Piobaireachd and Light MUsic, and touch the sky:)
The stag stayed around, lying on the ground just outside my window, and as the music moved to the Grateful Dead music I shared with you as well. Curious in an ongoing way how to begin to somehow take a Piobarieachding the Blues, even, lead in playing with the energy of such music, constructed in slightly different ways. Might these be interesting queries for you? Might I learn something in these regards from you, in conversation with you, from your teaching, your modeling even, which could even become the basis for my upcoming Piobarieachd album, possibly way way out of the box, say, with ten Piobaireachd pieces, totally transformed, but recognizable, and so all played in a newly created genre in a sense, which draw people in rock and roll wise even :) ... to an alternative religious experience even of bagpiping When I went out to eat a salad for lunch on the garden patio, the stag got up and wandered off, music still playing. Am curious whether I have a new music-appreciation 'friend.' - and will be glad if he comes back for another wee listen to some happening rock and roll ... maybe even with me playing or riffing with it. :)

Here are some hypothetical amusing questions and regarding an email I just sent to my mother, then to friends -
If Harbin went in the direction of a California police person on property - right out of CA Police Academy - what would she, or he, wear in the warm pool? :) Armed even and nothing else? :) Gun on the head

? (And what would CA police academy official Harbin uniform and vehicles be - energy-wise - and different from Harbin's security vehicles)?
Have too many Harbin security people been insecure and passed away, knowing a bit too much even ? - on the not amusing side ... Speculatively ...
And divergent from Harbin's countercultural history, might having a police person on property be better - CA insurance-wise? (A different kind of insurance than it's quite broad Hippy community with their own economies).
In one of those Harbin ironies, Rosemary Cordova, Harbin office manager (and friend), and mom of Lazarus, was married to the Chief of Police in the area, not living together. Rosemary drove me into SF a couple of times back I think in 2004 ... When I was a Harbin resident for 4.5 months ... and exploring the idea of writing a Harbin Ethnography (just back from UNI EDINBURGH, Scotland for a year, and after 2 years before that at UC Santa Barbara in Anthropology-related academic 'disciplines,' and before traveling on Semester at Sea in autumn 2005). Was HCC founder Ishvara snortling in his 'lair' that Rosemary's son's father was the local chief of police? (Is there a long history of police corruption in California and how has this played out re the white Latino Hispanic 'divides' even)?
I think people in Harbin's culture would be safer with a CA police presence on property, but still keeping the camping cost down at the Harbin gate would be key to attracting younger folks who don't have much money, and are open to a pick up place with alternative, hippy thinking - and re the open naked energy of Harbin's warm pool area which informs its countercultural energy coming out of the 1960s and '70s as it does ... And with the continuity of Ishvara Bob Hartley still being around re unfolding vision and even Harbin Pubs - Publications with their hippy vibe - (as difficult and sick as he may be) . He'd balk a lot at no-corruption naked CA cops on property, but might come around re insurance questions, and given the devastating valley fire of 2015.
Shall we visit Harbin again in the 2022 spring, if we get the green light from Sajjad or Eric - to CHECK IN by checking out liminal (betwixt and between) from society in modernity or 'internetity' (two 'conditions' some social scientists engage to understand human processes) for a spell at that 'nudie place' - which is what UC BERKELEY Anthro Prof Aiwha Ong called Harbin to me years ago - which 'institutionalized' the hippy 'party' sociologically / anthropologically - as a Church, Heart Consciousness Church:)?

Regarding living in a 'safe house,' and seeking a new place to live in the spring, am wondering about living on Cuttyhunk even for the April to Thanksgiving 'cool shoulder summer season' ... and with an attractive life partner re beginning a family.
Would having a police person at Harbin Hot Springs change its counterculture forever, & regarding its 'in house' Harbin security which doesn't do the same thing as the state of CA's police? Would having a federal police person on Cuttyhunk make Cuttyhunk safe and good again? I'd still meditate in the warm pool at Harbin and write Ethnography, my next Actual-Virtual Physical-Digital anthropological Harbin book project in Text-in-the-Sidebar from Google Street View with Time Slider, printed to paper, and to #wuAsVR too! ... And yes, I think a federal police person on Cuttyhunk could make it safe And Good again. (Last possible year for anyone staying illegally in our MacLeod house on Cuttyhunk in the autumn?)

Open Band Scottish Country Dancing is still shutdown, and not necessarily an opportunity to meet new friends. I do Yoga and meditation on my own, beneficially, but don't think teaching or taking classes are a good idea or way to meet friends. I've inquired with avuncular Alden (in his 80s and a favorite) about hiking the California Coastal Trail first in SF Bay Area - thanks to you - but haven't heard back yet. And don't know of any reading groups whatsoever in Bay Area ...
But thanks to you too, I took a chance and reached out to Sajjad and others (since there's strength in numbers) about checking into Harbin - http://scott-macleod.blogspot.com/2021/10/zinnia-peruviana-non.html?m=0 (with related analysis about some whistle blowing I'm continuing to do and regarding World University and School) - and may not hear back for awhile. Apologies for including you in a large group email, but think you could make it work, and safely. Traveling to Harbin somewhat regularly for next Ethnographic project would change dramatically the self-quarantine isolation hangover aspect of coronavirus pandemic (after a kind of isolation - in the spring - in the somewhat sick culture of Canyon 94516), but wouldn't necessarily lead to new friends in the curious culture of California for me.

What about the hypothetical law enforcement of Bryn Mawr College's summer dormitory concerning abolition of the illegal sex industry in 2024, compared with the abolition of a recurrence of slavery in a Harvard College, or Univ of Oslo, Norway, summer dormitory then? How could WUaS abolish both slavery and the illegal sex industry in the following countries in 2025 ... And how would electronic medical records work re recording adult perpetrators, repeat offenders, purveyors of the illegal sex industry and with regards to minors as victims, tragically, and re creation of broken early source for the illegal sex industry (with its latent culture of violence)? While it runs from Mexico to Oregon, might we explore just the San Mateo county part (if existing) at first, and then in the counties just north and south of there, maybe even starting at Baker Beach, and hiking south?

A bit wiped out, Ma, after first waking up at 2:30 am, but was good to participate in the Fettes College AGM ... And it's warm outside. Walk later ... How are you? And how was your day?

Sense of community is there in this Fettes College high school culture, (but also as something to rebel against, then in 1977-'78 and a bit now too). Appreciate its focus on goodness, and even coming out of Christianity ... How are you? Took a chance with Harbin's (and Canyon's - re including E.B. in email) dysfunctionality ... to inquire about returning (with T possibly too) ... California illegal s x industry is difficult to compartmentalize when whistle blowing and when at a possible scale with history that makes it a challenge to call for abolition (solo too - haven't heard of anyone else doing this).

Compartmentalization is a WORD Lacanian psychiatrist George Alexander MD used perhaps for individuals in communication-exchange re thinking about people situations in an analysand's life separately - re consciousness questions (which has a kind of whole, I'd suggest too). With a hypothetical illegal sex industry at scale, and calling for abolition, such compartmentalization doesn't ring true for me (and maybe it's something I learned from Dad as an 'agent of change,' as somehow who sought to change the world for the better, with a kind of idealism, and was willing to fight for this too ... but I'm seeking to hew to abolitionist thinking - Quaker & Unitarian U, for example, in my conscientious objection) ... Thanks for mentioning this word a call or two ago ...

While continuing to live in a 'safe house' (and potentially seeking asylum on the east coast or in Europe in the spring) and having heard two hurt younger brother narratives, one of whom died, recently, am seeking to protect both Sandy from becoming a victim, as well as you too (given the latent culture of perpetrators' & purveyors' violence), and where the Compartmentalization word doesn't make sense here too (at all).

Greetings from the SF Bay Area. How are you? I'm writing to follow up on 2 email invitations to come visit Harbin from Deirdre Davis MD a year or so ago, which I decided not to do at the time. Am wondering if it might be possible to check in to Harbin anew, now that it's gotten going again after the valley fire (my condolences!) If my friend Tim L were in the area, I wonder too if we both might be able to check in together. Sajjad, remember when we 3 met in the Harbin office in 2012 (after I was a Harbin resident for 4.5 months in 2005), you were wearing your yellow-lensed glasses? At the time, Tim was #2 in Pakistan in the US state department, (and now he's special envoy to Yemen, and may be number 2 in Saudi Arabia as well in one way or another).

Having heard from 2 people in different WUaS online meetings about their younger brothers dying or doing poorly after a vaccination, I'm writing to ask you to be especially careful in the upcoming months and years, ethically and legally. Having heard you too say on Cuttyhunk explicitly that you're a criminal, followed by that you're joking, I'm especially aware of the legal issues (both state and federal). In calling for the abolition of the international illegal sex industry (perhaps different from the 'illegal sex trade' - which words Ma reiterated back to me in a recent phone call, having indicated hearing me too), following the abolition of slavery, I'm aware too of possible deeply vested interests in these businesses and related networks of violence. Might we be learning of them through these younger brother narratives? (I'm calling for the abolition of the illegal sex industry because it's the right thing to do, as a Friend, with Unitarian U sympathies (in their abolitionist histories), and also in seeking to potentially protect somehow, as WUaS brainstorming-wise plans to code for, all 7.8 billion people on the planet as wiki teachers and learners, and UBI recipients re a single cryptocurrency in most of 200 countries' and in their official languages, re budding artificial intelligence and machine learning).

Having heard from Ma last night that she may be getting a flu shot soon (see my concerns in email below), and also with my damaged far left left eye following immediately upon getting the non-FDA-tested hastily produced 2nd Pfizer vaccine dose, I'm aware that spiked vaccines are a serious risk, tragically even, and that they aren't easy to control the administration of in the medical system, (which with the psychiatry and legal systems, seem to have gone away in the past 18 months in the USA). Their benefits also are negligible I hypothesize, with an orientation to the natural too. I looked up the 'science of flu shot 2021' - and deeply skeptical and sadly of the CDC - found

I'm also aware that Dad came back from Belize in Nov 2004 with a serious brain injury, a subdural hematoma, and then apparently developed a 2nd spontaneous subdural hematoma in Pittsburgh in late 2004 or 2005. While visiting friends' Henry Cutter and Victoria Fisher in Randolph NH in July, I slipped on a root - the story I've heard for Dad's first subdural hematoma cause - near a waterfall and fell with a thud, not hitting my head, but I continue to wonder about foul play and his being somehow 'whacked' wrongly, harmfully, unethically ... And encourage you to be extraordinarily careful these days regarding your ethical and legal actions.

Am wary of these dying younger brother narratives I've heard recently - and am seeking to prevent any dying mother narrative too, due to the illegal s x industry, for example. Please let me know what you think of this. Ma, please be very careful about getting the flu vaccine. Thanks for these papers. Reading, as I prepare a Harvard Medical School talk re actual-virtual, physical-digital Harbin Hot Springs' Ethnographic & STEM projects, and digital research regarding brain processes (at the cellular and molecular levels too), for example, ... in its warm pool (where there's much 'space' too at & between these scales), - and related budgeting. How these all come together in a single realistic virtual Harbin, Earth, Universe (think Google Street View with Time Slider, Maps, Earth, TensorFlowAI, Translate with species & individuals, as realistic Avatar Bots) brainstorming-wise from the beginning of time and unfolding - from the beginnings of the solar system, atoms-Street View, based on evidence - will involve much budgeting. (This quadrant of the universe on the Mars 2039 expedition will go on these supercomputers in this country (1 of ~200) idea).
