Dear Sajjad, Eric, and Tym,
Greetings from the SF Bay Area. How are you? I'm writing to follow up on 2 email invitations to come visit Harbin from Deirdre Davis MD a year or so ago, which I decided not to do at the time. Am wondering if it might be possible to check in to Harbin anew, now that it's gotten going again after the valley fire (my condolences!) If my friend Tym Lenderking were in the area, I wonder too if we both might be able to check in together. Sajjad, remember when we 3 met in the Harbin office in 2012 (after I was a Harbin resident for 4.5 months in 2005), you were wearing your yellow-lensed glasses? At the time, Tym was #2 in Pakistan in the US state department, (and now he's special envoy to Yemen, and may be number 2 in Saudi Arabia as well in one way or another).
Tym and I have just been emailing, and he may be in Yemen presently, and I mentioned your funny book, Sajjad, to him -

A realistic virtual Harbin for Ethnographic (& STEM research) study informs my actual virtual, physical digital realistic virtual earth / universe thinking. Motivation-wise, these come out of my virtual St.Kilda / Hirta, Scotland study of 2003-2004 at the University of Edinburgh (http://scott-macleod.blogspot.com/2021/09/hirta.html?m=0).
Let's plan a trip on the PCT - maybe for next summer, and possibly with pack animals too. Took a great trip in the Olympic wilderness area, and orienteering off trail on top of the world, with a Reed College friend too, on the way to my second year of hiking the PCT from Manning Park 100 miles inland, in Canada, south thru half of Washington state, in 1982. Wanna hike on the PCT there in 2023? :)

Dear T,When are we going to check in to Harbin together again? Am missing Harbin only a bit, because I still don't think it's safe to head back there (even after receiving 2 email invitations from Deirdre Davis a year or two ago - who might be a kind of managing director - MD - there, sardonically construed even). It was fun to travel there with you in 2012.
How are you, and how are you settling in, world traveler, after your recent trip to the ME? Just shared the following with my younger brother, and my mother, -and since you're a younger brother (of Bill), I'd thought I'd share it with you too. Am also wondering where I'm going to live in spring of 2022 when my lease in this 'safe house' north of Berkeley is over ... and as a whistle-blower. Am considering exploring a kind of political asylum - on the east coast, or even in Scotland, Germany, or another German speaking country (since I speak German, and think that ethics, and regarding the nation state, are more intact and are working there, and even enforceable with laws that are effective).

As scary as spiked vaccines, for example, might be for some, in this society of 330 million in the USA, and a history of somewhat decent legal and medical systems, I think it'll be a long time yet before we find out what actually happened, and who died and why and how, and who made the decisions - let alone that they might be brought to justice, and especially social justice. For example, Ma just mailed me a NYT's article by Ross Douthat from the Sunday, September 19, 2021 NYT, which said that 670,000 people have died from Covid-19 (670 happens too, - coincidentally or not - to be the same number of the house in Canyon 94516 I lived in for about 13 years, after a number change part way through), and the Op Ed also continued, for example, that "Yes, there does seem to be a notable tendency for right-wing talk radio hosts to die of the disease -- " ... which seems to me like these deaths could possibly have been kinds of political killings even! So please be careful (if for example there's also been a major failing of psychiatry and the law too, in the USA, and in many countries around the world, to successfully protect victims, for example, of the intl. illegal sex industry, and its latent culture of violence too), and as a kind of internet ecology' (a concept I'm developing potentially re karma and dharma and ethics, etc.) swings around in a different direction. I just talked with Pin Mazumdar on the phone this evening from the UU Church of Kensington Berkeley, and I think he said the Covid-19 pandemic isn't over yet. We are living in strange times, with this fabricated alienating coronavirus pandemic, and having lived in 'sick Canyon' renting from mentally ill, psychiatrically sick former landlord t.w. - and among Canyon related sickness, relating to, hypothetically, a very old culture of perpetrators, offenders, purveyors, drug dealers, scofflaws, outlaws, racists (learned of a hanging tree, for ex., a mile down the road, from Jono in a trailer, a few years before he died) ... and probably most anything sick under the sun people can think up. Similar illegal sex industry and psychiatric issues with the SF Quaker Meeting and possibly all of Pacific Yearly Meeting (Quaker) + with a big plus ... And California still hasn't gotten its act together, I think, there in Canyon, ... but maybe it is doing so in this time of Covid-19 pandemic change (having had that (a) telephone hearing with a California judge about health insurance before I moved out of Canyon, for example, in the spring of 2020) ... To be seen ...
I'd prefer to continue to live on the west coast or east coast of the USA - since my actual virtual Harbin Ethnography project is somehow similarly both amazingly wondrous, and alienating (re Harbin's potential latent culture of violence - and since Sunheart, friend and informant, died there last autumn 2020), ... and my Harbin projects' meditation focus, and soaking in the warm pool with people, esp affords deep centering (actually and virtually) - and not somehow go into a curious whistle-blown political asylum in Germany or Scotland for example, but a lot depends on California's ability to clean up its act, and as I continue to call for abolition of the illegal sex industry, (following on the abolition of slavery).
One other item from our conversation ... re the NYT article on academic tenure you mentioned falling asleep over :) ... and the many World Univ & Sch considerations about this complex issue include not only about faculty so people in 200 countries' major online planned universities, and their many languages' cultures, but also the possibility of aging reversal genetic drug therapies making tenure for 3 centuries for example seem to me untenable or unviable at this point. Am enjoying your playing of Glengarry's Lament as I write (but the recording file stopped twice in GDocs a little over half way through, and am not sure why ... good to be in GDocs though, and possibly for machine learning in the future even) ... and you already have made up your mind (so no worries about the service charge) ... interesting too to learn the group teaching model you teach so well with.
Glengarry's Lament is played here with sheet music time signature of '3/4' (and light non-mensurality - I'll call this:) ... (whereas in the CoP Yellow Piobaireachd tutor, Vol 4, there's no time signature).
Might you do a Topical (group seminar, on all 200-300 Piobaireachd), perhaps on Google Meet for video recording, to add a feedback loop into a series of Piobaireachd Tutorials (coming into conversation with PM Donald MacLeod's great recordings, and perhaps PS Jack Lee's recent recordings of most Piobaireachds, but not as Tutorials) ... and as a first project for the piping schools at World University and School as its first faculty member even? ... This seems to work in the key of A SSP in part, and you have explored (and shown me) a number of new notes recently ... leading me to think that one could pipe with this in more than just 4 or 5 of the notes in the 9 note SSP A chanter. And, furthur, do you think you could even create a "Piobaireachding the Blues" jam with a machine learning informed tracks ... for example online ... - and teach this too, more than suggestively of what might work piping-wise for you, or what you'd do listening first? Could you Stuart teach "Piobaireachding the Blues" drawing on some of the ~200-300+ pieces of Piobaireachd ... and as an innovation exploration, and possibly interesting jamming 'challenge'? I don't think I'm up to teaching "Piobaireachding the Blues" yet, let alone playing it, although I was noodling around with the above GD ... and it was working just a bit :)

(I'm emailing her that WUaS is not interested in any illegal business such as drugs & Blockchain - which she alluded to a few months ago). Please be careful in the next few weeks ... I just got another 'younger brother isn't doing well' message today - this time due to vaccination - in the Bay Area Stammtisch, with someone in Munich area (who seemed to be advocating, a few weeks ago, an interest in furthering the international illegal sex industry), as well as racism against Africans (see - https://scott-macleod.blogspot.com/2021/09/galapagos-tortoise-abolition-of-illegal.html). Please be careful.
And in a related vein, the woman from Pittsburgh now living in NJ, who's younger brother died recently, came back one week earlier than, to the WUaS News and Q&A on Monday, she said would ... and seemed to recuse herself from participating in WUaS in an email exchange afterward too. Both seemed to be looking for work or paid remuneration, in one way or another, which WUaS doesn't have yet. Please be careful, Sandy! Heads' up in these curious post non-SARS CoV2 non-Epidemic coronavirus pandemic times!
Am continuing to call for abolition of the illegal sex industry at WUaS (and in planning to code, brainstorming-wise, for 7.8 billion people on planet for a variety of reasons), following on the abolition of slavery (which still exists, I just learned, in many countries - see below).

I just added some of this "Please be careful" thread to this blog post - http://scott-macleod.blogspot.com/202... - as a heads' up for others too. As scary as spiked vaccines, for example, might be for some, in this society of 320 million in the USA, and a history of somewhat decent legal and medical systems, I think it'll be a long time yet before we find out what actually happened, and who died and why and how, and who made the decisions - let alone that they might be brought to justice. For example, Ma just mailed me an NYT's article by Ross Douthat from the Sunday, September 19, 2021 NYT which said that 670,000 people have died from Covid-19 (670 happens too, - coincidentally or not - to be the same number of the house in Canyon 94516 I lived in for about 13 years, after a number change part way through), and the Op Ed also continued, for example, that "Yes, there does seem to be a notable tendency for right-wing talk radio hosts to die of the disease -- " ... which seems to me like these deaths could possibly have been kinds of political killings even! So please be careful (if for example there's also been a major failing of psychiatry and the law too, in the USA, and in many countries around the world, to successfully protect victims, for example, of the intl. illegal sex industry, and its latent culture of violence too), and a kind of internet ecology swings around in a different direction. I just talked with Pin on the phone this evening from the UU Church of Kensington Berkeley, and I think he said the Covid-19 pandemic isn't over yet.

And in a related vein, the woman from Pittsburgh now living in NJ, who's younger brother died recently, came back one week earlier than, to the WUaS News and Q&A on Monday, she said she would ... and seemed to recuse herself from participating in WUaS in an email exchange afterward too. Both seemed to be looking for work or paid remuneration, in one way or another, which WUaS doesn't have yet. Please be careful, Sandy! Mental Health ~ Psychiatric Diseases
Hi Scott,
Mental health diseases are just like all other diseases. I don’t see them as negative — just a part of the human existence. They occur within all populations everywhere the world, every professional group, everyone in general. They are largely treatable, thank goodness, just as most other diseases are, for the most part. Nice that Ed shared some of his own experience with you; sounds like he’s a good example of what physicians are trained to do: dx and treat. And, as with everything between friends, comes the matter of trust - so congrats on earning that trust from him.

Mental health diseases are socially constructed by the MD medical and insurance, professions, just as biological diseases are socially constructed, but constructed scientifically by different kinds of scientists (than MD psychiatrists) re biology, chemistry, physics inquiry ... and more research is needed, and newly in the Information Technology age,Glad too that Ed shared some of his experiences with mood medicines (for seizures otherwise) with me.

Thanks again for your email on Tuesday. Re Ed and his severe mental illness (self-reported to me), and 'mental health diseases,' am a bit more worried about nelson graburn's possible psychosis (where I think psychoses are a psychiatric biological fact as disease, different from perhaps Ed's condition for example) - as a psychiatric disease - re graburn's lashing out at me, uncontrollably in recent TSWG sessions last year (and did he seek to try to end my life a number of times, - first perhaps by 'sending me' to the University of California, Santa Barbara, and re that psychiatrically ill ucsb instructor francesca bray ... ) ... where I think Ed as MD is in a position to manage graburn's illness or disease, - and even while Ed is taking mood medication. Is some of graburn's illness, and violence too (perhaps internationally), related to the international illegal sex industry (and even regarding all 10 campuses of the University of California, tragically ... ) ... regarding ethical 'tumblr-ing' too, affecting the brain into psychosis?
Thanks too when we talked on the phone last time for mentioning in response to me the words 'illegal sex trade,' when I said illegal sex industry. Distinguishing between such a trade and an industry in these heinous harming practices ... may be place specific (CA, or PA, or MA), or even institution specific (state of CA? 10 university of californias, california state universities, california community colleges???? ... but not too much the state of Pennsylvania?) ... Much opportunity for legal developments regarding the abolition of the international illegal sex industry ahead (and ending too slavery in other countries even), perhaps also via UBI experiments!

Remember when we used to make puns and have fun with the word 'tic' on Cuttyhunk, regarding 'antic,' 'spastic' etc ... And even though, also, the MacLeod family shared an Xmas meal with the Alexander family, and re George L Alexander MD and his family for 22 or 23 years, as a brilliant Yale & McGill-trained psychoanalytic psychiatrist (was he a genius? It's difficult to say what a genius is!), who studied and knew about mental illness, and could talk about it, and understand it in his patients, with great depth of understanding - to help such sufferers of such diseases. Glad psychiatry has been in existence since the mid-1800s -

To end poverty via UBI EXPERIMENTS to DISTRIBUTE a single cryptocurrency would indeed be a rationale to grow with, but further research is needed.

And WUaS donated ourselves for co-development, in 2015, to Wikidata (Wikipedia's back end structured knowledge database in ~300 languages), then got our front end WUaS Miraheze MediaWiki (above) in 2017, and got the interoperating Wikibase below in 2020. So this could be the infrastructure for distributing Stanford Mine Pi to 7.8 billion people, and even possibly regarding regulation by the 19 out of 28 countries in the EuroZone, by European Central Bank (ECB) regulations, since Wikidata is based in Berlin, a sister project of Wikimedia.
Here's the idea of how Wikibase would work at WUaS (for our World Univ & Sch matriculating students, and wiki teachers and learners in all 200 countries, an important aspect here, and in all 7,139 known living languages -
