But I want to be a writer now!!

Short post today since I've got a killer day planned.  I  have a post up at Supernatural Summer about how the jobs you do before you find publication help you later after you DO find publication. Enjoy!

Done!

Well, sort of.  The rough draft is finished for the Hollows World Book, except for the last tiny bit, which I traditionally don't do until my first rewrite anyway.  I spent most of yesterday taking the puppies to the vet (heart worm antigen tests.  They were troopers) and working up Al's handwriting.  I FINALLY got something I'm really happy with at a quarter to eleven, and if I can work it, I will make it available for purchase as some point.

Today's picture is of feet, obviously.  No, I...

Should be today . . .

If all goes well, I should finish the rough draft of the world book today.  Yay!  It will feel good to get this done.  I've been nervous over it for a long time, making this huge thing with no real idea of how it's going to be received at the publishers.  I've got a month to whip it into shape, and then it's on to the next Hollows book.

Today is the epilog chapter and perhaps a new font for Al.  I made one, but I don't like it.  Going to try a different tack.

The picture for today is a bunch...

Plunder

Friday was a good day.  I didn't get as much work done as I would have liked-which isn't unusual, but I set high goals-but I partied hard all weekend.  Holy cow, it was busy, starting with about 4 hours of R&R at the fair for a last hurrah.  Watched the tractor pulls and then hit the games.  I could no longer resist, and I'm a sucker for the coin roll and the ducky pull.  (Which is where I got the tiara.)  I also won three fish with a bucket of balls, so Mr. Fish has a buddy now in the tank n...

And it got chilly

It's cold this morning, having dropped to the low 50s last night.  I pulled my houseplants in, so it smells like a greenhouse as I sit at my desk and type.  My office is just about the only place downstairs that gets a decent amount of light.

I didn't get out to the fair last night, and not because of the cold.  I missed the figure-eight demolition race, but that's okay.  I spent the night instead trying to make up a new font for Al for the world book.  I'd really like to have the curses in...

Yup, I did it again.

I cranked at the desk all day yesterday, with thoughts of horse barns, dressage, and the smell of leather and horse sweat.  So when the clock clicked over, I headed back out to the fair.  This time, I dined upon a huge, greasy hamburger loaded with everything but onions, and a big bag of cotton candy.  Yum.  I ate the whole thing.

The derby was great, and my cousin's car stayed alive a lot longer this time.  -grin-

The sky was beautiful for pictures at twilight, and I got a few.  I dropped one ...

joys of small town life

Yesterday I worked until about 7:00, then kicked back from my desk, made a quick change of clothes, and headed out to the county fair.

I love fairs, and it has been about thirteen years between them.  They haven't changed.  The flowers are still wilted in the flower displays, the bunnies still chew at hay and ignore you, and the cows still smell like cows.  The rides are still up and over, round and round, and dip and swoop, and run with colored lights.  The people running them haven't...
