Getting cold

It's starting to get colder.  The brand-new furnace kicked on this morning.  My desk sits right over a vent.  OMGosh, this heat-loving slug loves the placement of her desk.  -grin-  It's going to be a good winter.

Aleix, as you can see, has a new sweater.  She hates clothes, and I don't blame her, so all this summer I've been slowly acclimating her to it.  She wore a knitted collar for a few weeks while going outside, and then a little "shirt" that was more like a bandana.  Now she will tolerate the full thing, actually coming to me when I call her to put it on.  She still doesn't like it, but she'll wear it and act like a dog instead of standing in the middle of the yard and look miserable.

I have four days to revamp the website for Halloween / next release before I start the rewrite on book ten.  (My goal was to start it the first of October, and I made it!)  There won't be any big changes for a few days, but trust me, stuff is happening in the background already.  I've got the new colors in my mind, and the layouts will stay unchanged mostly apart from the first page.  The big question I'm mulling today is what should be my front Halloween picture.  I had a pumpkin one year, then cookies the next.  I'm thinking maybe a pile of leaves?

Ahhh . . . a week to play in the website.  Heaven!!

And . . .  it's off my desk!  Or at least I hope so.  Printing out the world book went fine until my printer started going wonky.  Talk about frustrating.  I see the picture on the screen.  I see it in draft, I see it in page format, I see it when I print out a draft copy.  And when I print it in good format . . . it gets lost somewhere.  Very, very, weird.  Today I'm going to figure this one out, or kill my printer trying.

Figuring this one out belongs in the office Olympics.  So far, I've...

Never too old for toys

I'm not one for knickknacks, but every so often, something speaks to me of an event or an idea that slipped knowingly into my psyche to help make me who I am.  When I find talismans of such ideas, I snatch them up and hold them close.  I don't share them much, but this one I will since it might mean something to a few of you out there.  I know I totally geeked out about it when it showed up in the box unexpectedly.

It's not the symbolism of the unicorn that sparked in me, though when I was...

3, 2 . . .

Got a very slow start this morning due to a 3:30 am wakeup.  Lots of thunder and lightning, enough to get me out of bed and scurrying through the house with Guy, unplugging everything and closing some of the windows.  Turns out the worst of it went around us, but we did get some much needed rain.

I cut out of the office early (6:00) yesterday to acknowledge the last day of summer.  And it was hot, if you can believe it, up in the 80s.  So I worked in my shade garden putting in trilliums and...

World book is on its second polish to catch the stupid details that I always miss.  I should have it done today for the third time.  (laugh)  I did manage to remember what I did with one of the backgrounds, so I only spent a few hours on it.  It went so fast that I might make a background for the demon spell books, which would be cool.  I'm getting good at making blotches on paper.

My goal was to have this in New York by the first of October, but if I can  give it a little extra push and move ...

There are leaves on my lawn

There are leaves on my lawn this morning.  Yellow and gold against a bright green.  The best part is that the lawn isn't that deep, so it's going to take like five minutes to brush them to the curb.  I think I'm going to leave them there for a while.  It looks nice.  ;-)

I spent the weekend with a pleasant mix of shopping for necessities and working outside to prep the yard for fall.  I promised myself I wasn't going to put any bulbs in the ground–because the yard is loaded with them...
