Pumpkins are a no-show
But I only planted them on a whim, so I'm not broken up about it. I knew I got them in the ground about a month too late, and the ground itself was almost sterile in terms of organics. I would have been better off planting beans of some sort, and then turning them over in the fall. But I planted pumpkins because I was excited and impatient, and so I got nothing but male flowers.
Am I upset? Gosh, no. I still had fun tending them. It's a lot like writing. If I jump in on a whim with no t...

Feels like fall
It feels like fall. I got cold last night, working at my desk as the sun went down, so I started a fire in the kitchen (in the fireplace, not the middle of the floor) and finished up what I had to do there. OMGosh, it felt so good. I really like my fireplace. Mr. C did a fabulous job putting it in. He built the hearth from stone they pulled from under the house when they shored up the foundation, and I had them take the extra time to put in a gas burner that allows a real wood fire atop ...

Last one is out-again!
No, not Hollows books, which will continue until the 12th or 13th, but the last Truth book, repackaged with a spiffy new cover and tag line to let people know I wrote it. -grin-
I've an essay I wrote for Anne Sowards, my Ace editor up at their site, here. that tells about how I felt about re-releasing some of my earlier work. Some authors love the chance, others cringe. Especially when it's in a different genre than the one they "made" their name in. I think I've mentioned this link before, ...

Cha-cha-cha-changes
I have retired my wooden pinky ring as of this morning, and like everything else, there is a story behind it. Things come and they go, just like they do with everyone else. I'm always buying jewelry and losing it, mostly things from the Ren fair, oddly enough, so I'm not blind to when something is "just not jelling" even if I think it's cool. But my ring, I thought, was safe. Not so.
My pinky ring is wooden, so it comes off for showers and washing my hands, then goes right back on again...

Page Proofs, and Friday!
Page Proofs for the last Madison book have come in, so I'm sharpening my colored pencil and getting ready to give it a last look. But the best news is that it's Friday! Not only that, but it's going to be a long weekend, too as we take Monday off here in the states for Labor Day. And I"ll be laboring, I'm sure. -grin- Out in the garden, pulling weeds. The pumpkins are thick with them. Still no female flowers. I may have gotten them in too late in the season, but I'm willing to give...

But I want to be a writer now!!
Short post today since I've got a killer day planned. I have a post up at Supernatural Summer about how the jobs you do before you find publication help you later after you DO find publication. Enjoy!
