A sincere pumpkin patch

Well, I don't know if it's sincere or not, especially since the only thing orange in it is my dog.  -grin-  Lotsa flowers, but they are all male.  I think the plants need to get bigger before they can support a fruit.  sigh.  I'm patient, but not that patient.

Working on the world book this week.  It's going to be a hard day.  It's only 8:00 am, and I'm tired already.  Late night yesterday.  But it's all good.  ;-)  I've finally got the windows open again, and the crickets sound heavenly.

And there was cake.

And the cake was good.  -laugh-

So on Friday, Guy read my post, then snuck out with Thing Two and bought me a quarter cake with icing.  Mmmmm.  And an Un-Birthday card.  Life is good.  -laugh-

Short post today.  It's going to be a killer day.

Happy un-birthday to me!

It's the 13th of August, my official unofficial birthday according to My Space.  -grin-  You never know the complete ramifications of your actions until years later, but I kind of like this odd sort of happenstance.

See . . . I wanted my age to click over in the right birth sign, so I dropped the 13th in the box when it asked for my birthdate, not like the usual Jan 1 I do in most cases.  So I am a Leo, (roarrrr!) but my birthday is not today.

But I'll still take cyber cake if you got it.

Home Security

I woke up today humming Mad World.  I think I need to do some research on it.  I know the song was used to promote a shooting game.  I believe it was the latest Halo, but not sure.  In any case, it's got a story in it, and I will not be surprised to find out if it's been used in a major motion picture somewhere.  If not, I'm going to love it even more.  It might relate to Grace, a character who has been sitting at 100 pages for the last ten years.  Timing.  It's all about timing.

And here's a ...

Tired

Yesterday was one of those days where I couldn't get started until almost after noon.  (Apart form my morning work, which I finished fairly early.)  Life kept interrupting.  Nothing bad, just normal stuff that I usually don't have to worry about, and it slowed me way down.  NY was chatty, too, and I had some business to take care of outside of writing.  Nit-picky stuff.

As a consequence, I put in a very long day, not getting out of my office until almost eleven.  But I got it done, damn it...

mishmash

Tuesday.  I've been working on the world book this week, which has me thinking about Rachel.  I also finished the page proofs for PALE DEMON, which means I'll be going over the next book soon, currently sitting at rough draft, fermenting the last 12 months.  I've got a pivotal decision to make, and I didn't get to sleep much last night, trying to second-guess myself as to what I should do.  Let me rephrase that.  Very little sleep.

I'm just going to have to read it, I think, and try to decide ...

Volunteers

Volunteers are what my grandpa used to call plants that just show up, unplanned and unplanted, like tomato plants in the compost pile, or a seedling maple right where you wanted a mature tree someday.  One of the fun things about a new house is the unexpected plants that pop up.  I've not had a spring here in my new house, but I've been finding bulbs as I dig and I can only imagine.

This, though, was a pleasant surprise.  It is some variety of Hosta, all of which grow really well in the...

English E-212 : The Vampire in Literature and Film

Okay, this is the coolest thing.  My editor found this, and I had to pass it on to you this fine Friday.  DEAD WITCH WALKING is part of the reading list for an extension course at Harvard. (I knew I should have named one of my demons after them . . .  laugh)  Other well-known authors such as Hamilton, Harris, and of course, Meyer, are there and highlighted, but The Hollows is on the list!

I've always been of the mind that vampires, witches, and Weres in literature can be used as recognizable t...
