September 10th 2023 Update

Obelisk of Blood is up to about 52,500 words, as I expected for the week. Things are moving along at a decent clip, and I’m hopeful that the upcoming week will go well, but we’ll see when we get there! Returning to Ruethwyn’s story has gone rather well, I think part of it is that I’ve had the storyline in the back of my head for years now, just percolating. My writing style has changed significantly, though.

September 3rd 2023 Update

Obelisk of Blood is up to approximately 42,500 words, and things are getting wild already. Ruethwyn’s plans have already been severely disrupted, and I’m looking forward to seeing how the story progresses, considering how insane things have become. I’m guessing this is a little less than halfway through the volume, but I can’t be sure.

For this coming week, I intend to take Monday off since my wife has the day off as well, so I don’t expect to get a full week of writing in. On the other hand,...

August 27th 2023 Update

Obelisk of Blood is now up to about 30,000 words, and I’m beginning to ramp things up in-story. With any luck I’ll be able to keep up the pace! I’m not sure how long it’ll be, but I doubt it’s going to be as long as my last few books. Personally, I’m hoping for between 90,000 and 100,000 words, but the story will be as long as necessary to tell the story I’m aiming for.

August 20th 2023 Update

Obelisk of Blood is coming along at a good pace thus far. I’ve gotten up to about 17,500 words, including a ~1,200 word story recap, and I’m hopeful that I can keep up my usual pace. If everything goes well, I feel like I have good odds of completing the rough draft in October.

August 13th 2023 Update

Alright, things did not go as planned this past week. My sickness was more persistent than expected, which slowed me down. However, as of the time of this writing I think I’m back to full health, or as close to it as I think I’m likely to get in the short term.

In the past two weeks I’ve reviewed Beesong Chronicles and Through the Fire. I also resisted the urge to go into a full edit on them. My writing style has evolved significantly since I wrote either series, especially Through the Fire. ...

August 6th 2023 Update

Well, this past week has been… interesting. I got back from the convention just fine, and was prepping to do test-writing for my next project. I even got in the one for Apis & Asps, for that matter! Then I got sick. As best as we can tell, it’s second-hand sickness that she caught at the convention despite all her precautions, then gave to me. Alas, that’s how it goes. At least we know it isn’t COVID.

July 29th 2023 Update

Another week has passed! I’m currently on vacation, but I’ve been re-reading some older stories, primarily Sting & Song and The Avatar’s Flames, to see if my muse is in the mood to continue the series. I’m still not sure if she is, so I’m going to start writing the first story in each to see what happens, beginning Wednesday. If neither are inspiring, I’ll pivot to a different story… I’ll report in on what happens next week.

Other than that, I’m just resting and relaxing. Have a good week!

A bit late, but here’s the weekly update. Talyn: Unyielding is doing pretty well, but I’ve mostly been resting and relaxing. Anyway, I have another set of character art, I have a character from the book for you! I’m not going to name her, because spoilers. Hope you like it!

July 16th 2023 Update

I’ve been continuing to relax and vacation. I might start a project this coming week, but we’ll see what happens. Next week, plus into a bit of the following, I’ll be hosting a friend from out of state, so I don’t expect much to happen. I hope you’re looking forward to the book!
