November 19th 2023 Update

Obelisk of Blood comes out tomorrow! Or today for time travelers from the far east. I’m super-excited, super-nervous, and all of that! I’m stunned to realize this is the 30th novel I’ve published, in a hair under 7 years. That means I’ve published slightly over four books a year, which is insane to me. I look at the dozens of incomplete novels littering the years before I started publishing and wonder how I’ve gotten so far.

I’m home safely after the convention, but my wife is sick, which has thrown a wrench into things. That said, the audiobook of Dawn of Chaos is now out! I really hope you enjoy Abby’s narration!

November 5th 2023 Update

First of all, there won’t be an update next week. I’m going to be at the 20Booksto50k convention this week, and I’ll be traveling at the time I usually write these blog posts.

Obelisk of Blood is still at the editor, so no movement on that part this coming week. On the other hand, I got an art piece back I commissioned a couple of months ago, illustrated by Innervalue! I’m pretty happy with how it turned out, as it shows the crew of Through the Fire.

October 29th 2023 Update

I’ve completed the last edit of Obelisk of Blood, and I’ve sent it off to my editor at this point. I think it’s no surprise that I’m nervous about it, but I’m also excited to see what everyone thinks of it! It came to a hair under 107,000 words after editing, and I’m pretty happy with it.

October 22nd 2023 Update

Tomorrow I begin editing Obelisk of Blood to send to my editor! I expect this to take the week, possibly extending into next week. Once I’ve completed the edit, I intend to start on the next Eve of Destruction novel, tentatively titled Seed of Chaos.

October 15th 2023

Sorry about the late update, I got the current COVID booster shot (and the flu shot) and it knocked me thoroughly on my butt for all of yesterday. Didn’t sleep well either, but that’s how it goes. With an author convention next month, I’m not taking chances in that regard.

October 8th 2023 Update

Obelisk of Blood is at about 100,000 words, and I think I’ll finish the rough draft this week! Alas, it’s too hard for me to be sure, but I’m certainly going to try! Ruethwyn is having an adventure she never anticipated, and there’s a lot going on in the final scenes that I’m trying to juggle. I’m hoping that everyone enjoys it!

October 1st 2023 Update

Before I forget to mention it in the initial post again, here’s a bit of news. Podium has informed me that the audiobook of Dawn of Chaos should be out on November 14th. Now, just to be clear, this is the planned release date. Other factors could still push it to another date, but they’ve hit their planned dates so far.

September 24th 2023 Update

Obelisk of Blood is up to ~77,500 words, and I’m pretty sure that I’m not going to finish it this coming week, so it’ll end up over 90,000 words in total. I’m still hoping for it to be close to 100,000 words, but we’ll see how that works out in the end. Once I complete the rough draft, I’ll look at scheduling it with my editor, then setting up a pre-order.

September 17th 2023 Update

Obelisk of Blood is up to about 65,000 words, and coming along nicely! I’m hoping that everything comes together well in the next parts, too. Other than that, not much is going on. I have plans to attend a convention in November (20Booksto50k), but for the most part I’m trying to relax and enjoy the stories.

My current plan is to write book 5 of Eve of Destruction after this one as well, if you’re wondering what my next plans are.
