Dreaming of Spring

Dreaming of Spring

It's no secret Montana winters are long. About this time of year I begin to dream of warm days, colorful flowers, and afternoons spent outdoors. This is a beautiful collection of wildlife, horses, and nature videos, set to relaxing guitar music. Sweet dreams!

I'm a wildlife artist and author. I live on the side of a mountain in Montana near the Continental Divide with my family, where I write and paint about our frontier lifestyle. We left Washington D.C. when my husband retired from the military. We wanted a change, of lifestyle and we got it! I admit I'm a fish out of water here, and I'm learning how to blend my city ways with our new rural western life, so, I'm surviving the wilderness in style. Our new neighbors are cougars, bears, and wolves. I hope you enjoy our real pioneer experiences, with wildlife encounters, horse and dog rescue, baking, gardening, art, decorating, landscape photography, and much more. I hope to see you on the mountain, laugh and learn with me.

A Sneak Peek Book Illustration

I'm so happy to share one of the illustrations that will be in my new book from the "Go West, Young Woman!" series.

See who keeps me company during the day. As a side note, if you look at the framed drawing on the wall behind me, it's the self portrait of my father. I managed to find it many years ago, and it's my personal treasure. Enjoy this sneak peek ! I'm a wildlife artist and author. This is for the Birds!

This little Downy woodpecker has stayed with us all winter.  Most every day she visits us during our lunch break, and we watch her find just the right seed.  Along with other birds who visit, it's an enjoyable few minutes.  I like to think it's a sign of spring, but more snow is expected this evening.  That's life on a Montana mountain.

Some Owls Don't Give a Hoot!

I'm fortunate to share my breakfast with a cute pygmy owl that visits me in the morning.  He makes the sweetest little sounds.  Watch the video and meet my new feathered friend.

A T-shirt can be a work of Art.

This morning it was 6 degrees outside.  As much as I love my work as an author and an artist, sometimes I want to do a creative project just for fun.  With such long winters on the mountain, I need to find projects I enjoy, and not get stuck in the rut of the usual chores like cleaning house and folding laundry.  This is my latest effort.  I painted a shirt with fabric dye.  As many of you know, if it doesn't run away from me- I may have to paint it!

Front Porch Ponies!

Our horse Wilson wants to live inside with us in our "big barn."  He often comes the porch, windows, and doors to convince us to let him inside.  He loves company, and is definitely is the herd comedian. I hope this is short video makes you smile.  Wilson sends his love!
