Chasing Shadows

Chasing Shadows

One of the joys of living in Montana is watching the clouds cast shadows that drift across the mountainsides, touch the peaks, and race away, dissolving into the sunlight. Enjoy this video of the experience, set to some relaxing music. I'm a wildlife artist and author. I live on the side of a mountain in Montana near the Continental Divide with my family, where I write and paint about our frontier lifestyle. We left Washington D.C. when my husband retired from the military. We wanted a change, of lifestyle and we got it! I admit I'm a fish out of water here, and I'm learning how to blend my city ways with our new rural western life, so, I'm surviving the wilderness in style. Our new neighbors are cougars, bears, and wolves. I hope you enjoy our real pioneer experiences, with wildlife encounters, horse and dog rescue, baking, gardening, art, decorating, landscape photography, and much more. I hope to see you on the mountain, laugh and learn with me.

The Animals of Autumn

This autumn has been unusual. We have experienced two snowstorms. The first snow fell the last week of September, and the next storm came the first week of October. The animals don't seem to mind, and when it melts, it's business as usual. Enjoy the animals who visit us on the Cimarron homestead. I'm a wildlife artist and author. My garden visitor-who wasn't a gnome!

A Visitor in my Garden and he isn't a Gnome.
One of the joys of living on a rural mountain in Montana, is seeing and interacting with various forms of wildlife.  This male red fox often visits my garden.  He has a mate who raises her young in a den nearby our house, and has been doing so for the last several years.        Sometimes , I will look out my dining room patio doors and see this fellow peering in with curiosity. I continue to remind him that his job is to catch the rodents on the property, he then turns away and goes about his business.
We see him all year long, and I do enjoy his company.  However, I have to to be careful, because we have a small dog named Penny that we have to protect from predators, including this handsome fellow.

If you want to read more about our "wild life", look up my books "Go West, Young Woman!" and "Stay West, Young Woman!"  My third book will be available soon.  www.quinnwildlifeart.com

I would love to hear from you if you have a comment or a question, contact me here or through my website.  I can also be found on Facebook, where I host a group- Creative Country Lifestyles with Wildlife Artist and Author Nancy Quinn.

A door can be a Work of Art

A Door can be a Work of Art

I managed to finish this outdoor project before the winter storm that arrived unexpectedly in the last week of September.  It's something we have to get used to, winter can arrive at any time in the Rocky Mountains.

As an artist, I see almost any surface as a place for artistic expression. If it doesn't run away from me , I will probably paint or decorate it. I hope this video created on our homestead in Montana, inspires you to try a hand at your own creativity. I'm a wildlife artist and author. A Breathtaking Sunset- In Real Time

Moment on the Mountain
This sunset was so unusual, I decided to film a few minutes of it.  We have some stunning sights at this high of an elevation, relax for a few moments and enjoy the view.
