Our Clever Horse

     Our 20 year old quarter horse gelding named Wilson, is so proud of himself.  I watched him cautiously tip toe through the Iris flowers.  He has learned to open the safety latch on the corral gate and let himself into the garden. His companion is never far behind.  They love to take a walk and graze as they make their way to the house to ask for hugs and cookies at the front door.

New Author Website

 

Life has been very up and down lately, but I'm thrilled to share my recent accomplishment.  I created a new website I designed myself.  I even learned how to code!  So, after many months of work and a few tears, 🙃😉 it's finally finished.

Every year I create a video from our homestead. We have a new family and herd member at Cimarron. Wilson needed a companion since the passing of our beloved Whiskey. Domingo is a lovely Arabian horse and we are happy to have him in our lives.

Wildfire Moon

 

Wildfires are common in the west at this time of year.  On our mountain, we have been covered in a blanket of smoke for days, and I don't know how long it will last.   

While I yearn for a day with clean fresh air, and feel concern for my horses and the wildlife, I do have one consolation.  The smoke has a beautiful effect on the moon, giving it an orange color.  

I will continue keep a watchful eye on the fires, and wait with anticipation for clear skies.

Whiskey's 34th birthday was full of surprises.
