We are going to print!
I'm so happy! I just received this wonderful news! My new book, The Art of the Wild, should be available any day now. I'll let you know as soon as it's online and hits the shelves. These new stories are a departure from those featuring our western life. They focus on my work as a wildlife artist, and my encounters with exotic and domestic wildlife. In the meantime, enjoy this quote from one of the chapters.
"A monkey, and a month's supply of cheese doodles, what could possibly go wrong?"
This is a fun book and it was a joy to write. My artwork will be on the cover too and I can't wait to show it to you all.

New Photo Shoot!
Most people think being an author is about writing books and nothing more. In today's world, authors have many responsibilities in marketing the books they write.
While I feel awkward about having my picture taken, I participate in numerous photo shoots every year and the images are used in my promotion campaigns.
I just finished this recent shoot, and chose an outfit I put together from the clothes I had in my closet. Even though they are separates, I thought they looked nice together.
I'm so pleased the weather held, the very next day, we had about 8 inches of snow. It's the Montana way of life. . .
My new book, "The Art of the Wild", will be available soon! My website has some more details. www.nancyquinnauthor.com

Hay Day!
It's that time of year again. Every September we purchase over 6 tons of hay to keep our horses well fed during the long Montana winters. This year it was an easy task to accomplish because it's the first year we had feeder bales delivered.
Usually, we loaded small square 40-60 pound bales by hand, stacked them high on our pick up truck, and drove them over 15 miles back to the corral where we then unloaded each one and tried to figure out how to stack them so they would not fall over. Mishaps often occurred, and it took several days, and numerous trips to collect, unload, and secure the hay from the weather and all the wildlife who tried to steal it.

Writers' Awards 2023
A couple of years ago I was invited to be on the cover of Square Petals magazine. (See the "New Cover Girl" post in this blog) This global publication is uplifting- featuring artists, authors, wellness, health, and a host of other topics. This year I am honored again from this magazine published in India; I accepted the invitation to be on the selection committee to choose the magazine's winners of the Writers' Awards for 2023.
I'm sending my best wishes to everyone on the finalist list.

Our horses, Wilson and Domingo, had some wild friends arrive at suppertime. 😊

Sunday Evening on the Mountain
I am in awe of the sunsets we experience here in the west. From our elevation on the mountain we can see for miles. We currently have fires as close as 40 miles from our home. This time of year they are prevalent and the smoke in the air creates a haze that colors the skies in an unusual way. We often have orange and yellow hues in the sky, but they appear clear and sharp. On smoke filled days, we have a muted, almost filtered, look to the horizon.
I wanted to share this wonderful view with you. I think of it as a "picture post card" from Montana. Feel welcome to visit my website for more western life through my books and videos www.nancyquinnauthor.com

Preserving the Beauty of Flowers
In the summer I enjoy walking in the mountain meadows and down by the creek. I find the most beautiful flowers and leaves, and they are irresistible. By the time I come home, my little basket is filled with lovely blooms.
I press them between heavy books, and when they are dry, laminate them and cut the clear sheets into shapes and attach a ribbon. They make beautiful bookmarks for friends, family, and my readers. I often enclose them as gifts with my signed books- as a personal keepsake from our homestead in Montana. Making these bookmarks is a labor of love.

The Wild Sky
One of the joys of living on a mountainside is the breathtaking sunsets. We look forward to them every night. Montana is called "Big Sky Country" for a reason. The views are expansive and nature presents the best (and worst) of itself daily. This dramatic sunset, was a gift.
