A Life Changing Cookie Recipe

This isn't a gimmick or click bait.  I just can't say enough about this cookie recipe!

I know you are asking how can a cookie make my life better?  It can, and I talk about it in the video.  If you ever decide to make this recipe, I hope you leave a comment, and tell me about your experience.

News From the Mountain -Live Radio
My co-host was unavailable for the April show.  This is my first radio program I hosted alone.  I was able to broadcast from our mountain homestead.  I had some wonderful callers, and lots of stories to share, as well as some old west history.

Mercurial Montana

Our weather here on the mountain is unpredictable at best.  It can change within minutes and the seasons are almost a rumor, or a mere suggestion, it doesn't really follow the calendar.
This photo was take one evening as the sun was setting.  Even though it looks like it's storming, there was no rain in sight, just these beautiful and dramatic cloud formations.  It was magical.

Hand Painted Glass

My Stained glass Look Alike

I have always been a fan of stained glass.  Since I didn't feel I had the time, resources, or talent for it, I found a new way to achieve the same look of textured, colored glass, by mixing glazes, and hand painting the sheets of glass panels in my kitchen cabinets.  Upon close inspection, it looks like cut glass soldered together.
I used the wildflowers in our front meadow for inspiration. I drew the designs in sections, mixed the glazes in different colors and opacity, and then applied them with a paintbrush to create texture.  It was a fun project and worth the time and effort.
Later, I found out one of my flowers- was actually a weed!  I'm brushing up on Montana's flower identification.

A Glimmer of Spring

A Glimmer of Spring

Is it spring yet?  When I begin to see the wildlife moving around outside, I know the warmer weather is on the way.  It is still winter on the mountain, but I can see a glimpse of spring. The elk, deer, and other animals are on the move.  Enjoy!

News from the Mountain-live radio

News from the Mountain #3
We are continuing to dig our way out of the snow.  It’s snowing again today, but the temperatures are warmer than last week.  This is my third radio program on Blog Talk Radio.  Yvonne Mason is kind enough to give me an hour of airtime on her show once a month.

We talk about my winter rescue missions, wayward elk and deer, and frontier medicine of the old west.  Some of these remedies will make you cringe, some are funny, and some may be helpful.

I hope you enjoy the program.

Dinner Guest

Dinner Guest
My horses, Wilson, Whiskey, and Star, didn't invite this fellow to supper.  An elk jumped over the corral panels, pushed the horses away from their food, and went into the hay storage area, where he proceeded to try and eat everything in sight.
We had to come to the rescue and scare him away.  I feel bad for the wildlife this particular winter. It is one of the worst ones we have experienced.  I wish we could share our food with them.  In truth, we are running low on hay this year, and have already begun to supplement the horses diet with store bought feed.  I think we are all ready for spring to arrive, but it's several months away.

I hope you have enjoyed coming along on our family journey of learning how to live on a mountain in the American west.  You can learn about more of our frontier lifestyle through my award winning books, art, and videos on my website.                                                                 quinnwildlifeart.com

Colors of the Big Sky

Colors of the Big Sky

Even in winter, the sunsets are spectacular.  Every night, I look to the skies to see the changing patterns and colors.  It's like viewing watercolor paintings that stretch out for miles. At times, the beauty is so overwhelming, I'm completely speechless.

I'm still happy to live on a mountain in the American West.
