Global Health and Infectious Disease PhD Programs?

Global Health and Infectious Disease PhD Programs?

I want to learn more about global health and infectious diseases. The University of Edinburgh reports:

"In the past few decades there has been almost one new disease emerging each year and more than 75 per cent of these diseases derive from zoonotic origins. There is now more demand for investment and research to help us manage these diseases better."

http://www.ed.ac.uk/studying/postgrad...

I really enjoyed this course and am sad it is nearly over.

I found a few degree programs online (but this is all new to me). I located the University of Alberta offers a Global Health Master and PhD program (but it may be too cold for me considering I am from Florida).

The University of Toronto has a Global Health program but it seems very difficult to get into, but what appeals to me is they have some work / relations with India (where I have lived and traveled).

I'd live to study infectious diseases in Asia (preferably India, Malaysia, Indonesia, Sri Lanka, Singapore, Philippines, Bangladesh or Japan).

Singapore Universities don't seem to have anything specific like this yet, but may lead the way eventually in time for Asia.

The University of Edinburgh has a Global Health and Infectious Disease degree and online program:

As the holder of 2 Master degrees (Global Affairs - NYU and Global Food Law - MSU), Iam desirous of earning a PhD in Global Health, would like to learn of more Universities and programs.

1. PhD in 3 years or less
2. Global health focus and overseas opportunities
3. Less burdensome tuition than the typical US university and work opportunities to earn money teaching or working in some capacity.

4. Might there be any scholarships or fast track opportunities given I have published "The Future of Food" (volumes 1 & 2 - http://amzn.to/HVYxX0 ) and earned 2 Master degrees already?

Can anyone recommend any Universities that have a program in Global Health that is shorter than 3 years but still grants the PhD upon completion and focuses heavily on infectious diseases related to Zoonotic causes in the tropics?

Fundamental Islam is Not Fun - Story from Pakistan

Fundamental Islam is Not Fun - Story from Pakistan

I have been to several Islamic nations including Pakistan and Indonesia. Indonesia is more my preference, near the equator and happy people without so many rules.

Pakistan however (where I have been twice) has experienced heinous crimes being committed by fundamental Muslims such as:
- bombing and burning down Christian churches
- bombing newspapers that print "You don't have to have a long beard to be a good Muslim."
- shooting innocent children and teachers in a Christian school

Yet the Pakistani government has historically caved and cowered to such fundamental and violent streams of Islam.

Indeed fundamentalism does not appear to be very fun, nor heartwarming.

Your thoughts anyone reading this?

One of the many books I have written is titled "God vs. Religion" as I believe religion often misrepresents God.

Global Food Sales, Food and Beverage Manager, Healthy Food Products

Global Food Sales, Food and Beverage Manager, Healthy Food Products

Besides being a Global Health Coach, Disease Prevention Speaker and Wellness Trainer for Peak Performance Body-Mind-Spirit I also excel and product creation, branding, marketing and sales (having consulted many companies to reposition themselves in the global marketplace).

I completed 2 Master degrees in (Global Food Law / MSU and Global Affairs / NYU) after which I published "The Future of Food" (volumes 1 & 2). - http://amzn.to/HVYxX0

As a Worldwide Motivational Speaker serving the U.S. Military, Companies, the Travel Industry and Universities I have touched over 70 Countries thus far.

That being said if you'd like to market and increase your global food sales globally and further expand into Latin America, the Middle East and Asia (where 2/3rds of the world lives and I have lived for 4 years) and/or create new products to reach sick North Americans being preyed on by the modern medical industry; I'd love to consult and/or work with your company(ies).

Most food and beverage managers work very hard, but have not traveled the globe extensively to sample international cuisine and fare to fully appreciate the different palates of the peoples of the world.

Moreover the health challenges and food processes vary across the globe based on regions as well, which must be adequately and thoroughly addressed when endeavoring to create healthy food products to counteract disease and ailments caused by contaminants in the food supply and systems. This is my expertise and where I can help.

With over 7 billion people in the world and the elderly increasing in numbers, obesity, heart disease, diabetes and cancer growing exponentially) food companies with a vision to create healthy offerings and combat disease can skillfully differentiate their food products from the competition and carve out for themselves a nice market niche while serving consumers.

I look forward to serving your food and beverage company to create healthy products, brand itself as a health conscious company, position itself in the global marketplace, and market your brand skillfully to enlarge your influence and impact internationally.

Respectfully,

Paul F. Davis

Health without Drugs, Seventh Day Adventists, Jehovah Witnesses and Health Conscious People

Health without Drugs, Seventh Day Adventists, Jehovah Witnesses and Health Conscious People

Health without drugs is something many in the United States of addiction do not know because American Medical Schools are heavily financed by drug pushing pharmaceutical companies.

Seventh Day Adventists often follow the Jewish Biblical guidelines for nutrition (avoiding pork and shellfish for example - which God instituted to minimize our exposure to deadly and harmfl parasites), but at the same time Seventh Day Adventist hospitals push and resort to drugs often like the rest of hospitals throughout the country.

Therefore Jehovah Witnesses and health conscious people have to be proactive, knowledgeable and do their homework (or hire a skilled health coach and wellness trainer) to help them along the way lest they be duped by the modern medical industry.

Don't misunderstand me. Many physicians perform lifesaving functions and provide wonderful treatment daily at the emergency room and hospitals when bones are broken, car accidents occur and other sudden near fatalities bring people's lives face to face with danger.

Yet prescribing a drug for every minor ailment (the drugs always accompanied with further adverse side effects often far worse than the minor ailment they are intended to treat) is not healthy, nor the optimal way to peak performance and good health.

Hippocrates the father of medicine said, "Food should be your medicine." Food (organic, not processed with chemical preservatives and additives) is most absorbable by the body and best used to sustain and optimize human health.

The loving Creator therefore gave us a rich assortment of fruits, vegetables, grains, herbs and spices to support our human immunity and health.

That being said if you like Jehovah Witnesses for religious (health, or any other reason) reasons are not desirous of harmful side effects of drugs (one of which is osteoperosis as your body has to draw calcium from your bones to pee out the toxins in your body); you may call upon me for health and nutrition coaching.

I'd be honored to serve you in strengthening your body, human immunity, increasing your energy level, detoxifying your body, achieving peak performance and wellness body-mind-spirit.

Read more if you like in my two volume series: "The Future of Food" which I published following earning 2 Master degrees (Global Affairs - NYU and Global Food Law - MSU).

Sustainable Agriculture, The Global Good and Posterity

Sustainable Agriculture, The Global Good and Posterity

Managing the environment instead of merely using and abusing it is a concept we all should consider, master, embrace and encourage others to pursue.

Meeting food needs is vastly different from providing quality food tainted and heavily laden with chemicals (pesticides and herbicides). Moreover industrialized agricultural practices wherein animals are kept in cramped quarters, not allowed to graze, fed corn (not grass and grains) and made to live in each others' feces results in more antibiotics being used ....hinders the health of the animals and the quality of their meat for human consumption. The end result often is the antibiotics no longer work when being used as medicine to treat sick patients.

Eventually unsustainable agriculture will be called and brought to account for all of its evils at a multiplicity of levels.

My take away from the course is how interconnected the environment, soil, water (lakes, rivers and seas) are.

Nothing is more important than air, water and food. It is time countries consider environmental health beyond financial and corporate profit. Otherwise when CEOs and countless people throughout communities living alongside haphazard development find themselves sick in hospital beds and dying, they will have to reluctantly admit their money cannot save their bodies nor the environment which careless and heartless development has destroyed.

Free Cruise, Free Florida Cruise, Free Caribbean Cruise

Free Cruise, Free Florida Cruise, Free Caribbean Cruise

A friend of mine recently revealed to me how you can go on a free cruise (2 scenarios) either an evening cruise or a 3 day cruise.

If you are willing to enjoy a 90 minute tour of a luxury resort in Central Florida next time you are in the Orlando area, email me and I can make arrangements for you to do so.

Resorts today are getting smarter and instead of wasting millions of dollars in TV adverts (which nobody watches and just fast forwards through) they are being more generous with travelers and vacationers, giving away something nice like a free cruise, theme park tickets, or cash just for taking a 90 minute tour with no obligation to by whatsoever.

One caveat is you cannot live in the Central Florida counties of Brevard, Volusia, Lake, Osceola, Orange, or Polk.

If you are interested and willing to take a 90 minute tour, I can make a reservation for you to do so next time you plan on visiting Central Florida. The cruise port is just 45 minutes away (I know because I surf not to far from there and have traveled with many cruise lines across the world, having touched 70 Countries thus far as a Worldwide Motivational Speaker).

Orlando Discount Tickets, Discount Disney Tickets, Discount Universal Tickets, Discount Sea World Tickets

Orlando Discount Tickets, Discount Disney Tickets, Discount Universal Tickets, Discount Sea World Tickets

As an Orlando born and bred world traveler who has touched over 70 countries now; I highly value a good vacation. Many families throughout the world with small children enjoy visiting Orlando to enjoy the world class attractions at our theme parks ranging from Disney World, Universal Studios, and Sea World.

Instead of paying millions of dollars for TV advertisements, resorts (imagine a 3 bedroom home with your private swimming pool) compared to average and cramped small hotel rooms, often offer Orlando discount tickets for tourists and families in exchange for visiting a resort for a 90 minute tour with no obligation to buy whatsoever.

If you are coming to Orlando (or visit often), are tired of staying in dumpy hotels and want to vacation like seasoned and smart travelers in a luxury private villa with all the amenities with close proximity to the world class attractions; contact me letting me know:

- Your name
- When you will arrive and leave Orlando
- Where you will be staying (or if you'd like my help to find a nice place)
- What parks, beaches, attractions, etc. you want to see and visit
- How many will be in your party, family accompanying you (adults and children)

I look forward to making your visit to Orlando memorable and enjoyable.

Most Painful Shots and Vaccines

Most Painful Shots and Vaccines

I don't know about everyone else, but the shots and vaccines I least enjoyed ....reluctantly taking some for world travel purposes (because some cruise lines allegedly required them and I foolishly caved rather than fraudulently making up some documents to satisfy the desk agents) .....were:
- tetanus (pain in the arm a couple days)
- yellow fever (dizzy head and feverish a couple days)

Based on the effect on my body these had to have been "good" for me :o)

Interestingly Chile (God bless them) wouldn't even give me a yellow fever vaccination without authorization from my doctor in the USA. Perhaps Chilean docs know yellow fever is a hellish vaccine to be injecting into oneself with huge health repercussions.

New Nordic Diet Principles to Improve American Public Health

New Nordic Diet Principles to Improve American Public Health

The New Nordic Diet's commitment to local ingredients, health and well-being of the individual, environmental sustainability and the sensory aspects of food are culinary principles that improve taste, enjoyment and public health (both for consumers, farmers and the environment by lessening the burden of transport and unsustainable food systems).

Food grown closer to home is fresher, less prone to mold, fungus and disease which directly improves ingestion, absorption, assimilation and elimination (as a result of less preservatives and chemical additives being used).

The less processed foods (and more living food - fruit, vegetables, grains) a nation eats, the more healthy, energetic, vibrant and virile they will be as a people. This would eliminate many forms of disease, sterility, constipation, obesity and reduce cancer.

Moreover encouraging walking (as in Europe) and less driving will improve social interaction, public health and foraging (obtaining food locally while becoming more educated about the food we eat).

Chef René Redzepi in Copenhagen at the restaurant Noma, voted the top restaurant for 3 years in a row, has never driven a car and walks. This feet on the ground approach to life and cuisine, enables Rene to forage and gather fresh local produce and get to know the farmers supplying his restaurant.

http://www.cnn.com/video/shows/anthon...

Conversely in the USA profit margins are mostly the focus with suppliers trying to reduce prices rather than ensure quality organic and fresh produce and meat. Thus chicken and beef is often raised unsustainably in cramped quarters (indoors with no sunlight) while animals live in their own feces being prone to parasites and diseases. Thus livestock and chicken farmers feed animals antibiotics (which consumers later indirectly eat) and later bathe the meat in ammonia and other chemicals before shipping it to supermarkets.

Thus people in society are less able to rid their bodies of diseases via traditional antibiotics because pathogens have already mutated to adapt and outsmart the antibiotics they were exposed to in agricultural settings.

So doctors and farmers are both being forced to think again of more sustainable ways to do agriculture, farming and bring healthy food to market (while considering animal well being).

Eventually consumers will clue in and wise up, no longer tolerating anything less. But it takes time to educate people who read less and prefer entertainment on TV rather than lifesaving knowledge.

As I mentioned to a student in Belgium eliminating "fizzy drinks" (carbonated) which reduce bone density and use a fungus enzyme would also reduce the risk of cancer.

The Peruvian diet locally grown and often organically grown is sufficient. Western food imports (processed and unhealthy) are unnecessary and detrimental to public health.

India and Peru have put moratoriums on GMOs for good reason. Organic farmers across the world have much to teach us and it is time for nations to stop selling out public health to food companies and politicians to say no to lobbyists bribes to look a blind eye to the evil of foul food being served throughout the world.

Read more if you like in my two volume series: "The Future of Food" which I published following earning 2 Master degrees (Global Affairs - NYU and Global Food Law - MSU).
