Education Consultant, International Students Study Abroad - Homestays and Host Families
Staying with a host family (as I have done in England) can be a wonderful experience enabling you to experience another culture, country, family from afar, and different way of life. That being said challenges also come with having to adapt to another family's way of life, schedule and diet. Every family on earth approaches life, food, heath, relationships, work, relaxation and guests differently.
Being flexible therefore is paramount to successful life when living with another family (not your own). It helps to offer to do some light housework, chores, and be agreeable whenever possible. Your house family may refuse and not allow you to do such work, but at least offering will cause them to like you more and see your humility and willingness of heart.
Also you don't always have to eat everything your host family gives you. Eating food you don't like may encourage them to prepare it again and feed you more of what you DON'T like. Being honest and answering truthfully when asked questions is the best policy to ensure your stay is more enjoyable and less painful.
I for example don't eat pork and food cooked in a microwave for health reasons. Don't hesitate to speak up and share your dietary preferences when asked (or even if not asked) remembering host families receive financial compensation for allowing international students to stay in their home.
If international students, their parents, school teachers and headmasters have any further questions regarding homestays, academic life, study abroad, dormitory life, the best colleges and universities to attend, majors and degrees that are most suitable to pursue certain careers, deciding on a career path, etc. they may contact me to serve as their education consultant.

Education Consultant, International Students Study Abroad - Fraternities and Sororities
Many fraternities require students to commit to extracurricular activities, partying, preparations for social events, and then put new students/recruits through humiliating "hazing" activities the first week or two of school that are sometimes demeaning and dehumanizing.
International students going to study abroad should beware and know this before joining a fraternity or sorority. Although much of these activities are done in the name of "fun," I personally don't feel they are very fun, nor character building.
Also it should be said that fraternities and sororities charge students extra to live there (in addition to what you would pay for an apartment, international students who join fraternities or sororities must pay membership dues and a bit more to live at the fraternity or sorority house).
Some international students have said fraternities and sororities essentially make students pay to have "brothers," "sisters" and friends.
This is not to discount the good done by fraternities and sororities (the humanitarian work and fundraisers they do throughout the year). Likewise the value of friends is priceless and helps one throughout life, but friends can be found everywhere not only at a fraternity or sorority.
Life in a dormitory requires much disciplines because social life in dorms can be very distracting as many young spend their hours drinking alcohol, "partying" which hurts their grades, and chasing young ladies and guys. Dorm life focusing on partying rarely benefits your academics and grades in college and university.
I never joined a fraternity (guys living together) for this reason. Besides you are already experiencing dorm life to some extent if you have brothers and sisters with whom you live (provided they are near your age and your are not babysitting them).
Living with other guys in a dorm is not so fun in my opinion. I would rather have a private apartment for myself, where I can have peace, privacy and bring a young lady for a meaningful relationship than live with a bunch of unclean, loud and annoying guys.
Keep in mind in dormitories in the USA, universities and colleges often charge more than what apartments cost nearby off campus. As for fraternities (or sororities for women) you must pay to enter the fraternity (sorority) to be able to live there with the other fraternity brothers (or sisters).
Dorms are basically college and university provided apartments with some fellow students on campus to live with you and share the expenses. That being said if the college and university chooses your roommates, you may not like them. For example they may smoke, or keep different hours than you (if you are an early riser and they like to stay up late and watch TV this could cause conflict). Tell the college and university specifically what you want in a roommate before agreeing to whoever they give you.

USAA Insurance Violates Duty of Good Faith, Failing Insured Families
USAA Insurance Violates Duty of Good Faith, Failing Insured Families
Here below is my reply to why a $9,000 settlement offer is a breach of good faith to the insured on the part of USAA.
As a fully insured USAA policy holder (USAA insuring my home and car) with maximum coverage and no deductible, I pay a very high monthly premium (and have for many years).
During the summer of 2010 I was hit by a car while riding my bicycle, the driver of the car being an uninsured motorist. Therefore by Florida law I am covered by my uninsured motorist policy with USAA.
However upon speaking to USAA claims adjuster Jessica Pabon, she asked me to provide her images and a settlement offer for the injuries sustained in my groin, lower back and right testicle (which I did).
In fact so as to not be presumptuous or greedy, I did some thorough research to investigate what other individuals received for settlements for the loss of their testicle (testicular torsion), sperm reduction and the emasculation of their manhood (due to the psychological pain and suffering related thereto).
As noted below the settlements range from $8.5 million to $200,000 USD. Yet USAA claims adjuster Jessica Pabon insulted me offering me a mere $9,000 and that after asking me to send her pictures of my testicles (which was rather humiliating to have to endure as someone insured with USAA).
My correspondence with Jessica Pabon and the financials of other settlements for similar injuries are noted below to provide full transparency and an honest comparison of similar settlements.
That being said, I forewarn consumers and military families insured by USAA to note how USAA violates their duty of good faith to their insured families (while further humiliating and insulting them throughout the claims process, burdening them with unnecessary paperwork and attempting to belittle their claims).
Claims against USAA for Violations of their Duty of Good Faith can easily be found online. Google search "usaa bad faith claims"

Chip Merlin (son of a former Admiral in the United States Coast Guard insured by USAA and brother to a sister awaiting promotion as a captain in the Coast Guard Reserve) founder of the Merlin Law Group notes regarding USAA:
"It would be interesting to know how often and how much USAA spends fighting its own customers. It would also be interesting if USAA disclosed their claims initiatives and internal operating claims procedures. Honest people have nothing to hide, right?"
As the grandson to the late U.S. Army Lt. Colonel Paul Krofchik who raised me from my youth, I agree with Mr. Merlin and certainly think USAA can do better!

Dear Ms. Pabon,
Per your instructions and request for claim #4267623-8, I am providing you a picture (attached) and an amount to settle the matter related to my personal injuries in my groin, right testicle and lower back sustained from the uninsured motorist accident (summer 2010) we last discussed by phone.

Where one of the testicles loses its anatomical position, as a result, the blood supply can be interrupted, sperm count reduced and male impotency declines. The worst complication from this type of interruption is the death of the testicle (either sudden or gradual over time) - a devastating outcome for any man.
Testicular torsion is a common injury documented in tort law with the following settlements below for such cases related to the male testicle and its important role within the human body.

Loss of right testicle
This is a medical malpractice case in which the plaintiff Jason Graham, age 14, a gymnast and a freshman in high school, alleges that the defendant emergency room doctor negligently diagnosed plaintiff’s severe abdominal and testicular pain as epididymitis [inflammation of the top covering of the testicle] rather than testicular torsion. The plaintiff alleges that as a proximate cause of the defendant’s negligence the plaintiff was caused to suffer the surgical removal of his right testicle, sustain a permanent organ loss and suffer extensive mental anguish.

The plaintiff, age twelve, went to his pediatrician in May 2007 with complaints of left groin pain. He reported that the pain had begun when he had slid into base during a baseball game six days earlier. The pediatrician found trauma to the groin with questionable blood in the sac versus torsion of the testes.…negligence in the failure to diagnose testicular torsion at the time of his first presentation, which led to ischemia, necrosis and loss of his left testicle.

Plaintiff's only injury was a ruptured left testicle, and he had 2/3 to 3/4 of the testicle surgically removed. His fertility and testosterone levels were not affected by his injury, but he sustained residuals of scrotal disfigurement and testicular discomfort after sexual intercourse.
Plaintiff's medical expert testified that it was more likely than not that Plaintiff would always have some degree of discomfort after intercourse, but Defendant's medical expert stated that the discomfort would resolve within one to two years.

Medical Malpractice; Failure To Diagnose And Timely Treat Testicular Torsion; $550,000
The plaintiff, a then 25 year-old man, experienced the sudden onset of severe testicular pain while lying in bed. That same night, he presented to the emergency department of a Boston-area hospital for evaluation of his symptoms. The emergency room physician who performed the examination of the plaintiff ordered a testicular ultrasound for what the physician believed to be a hernia. The radiologist who interpreted the ultrasound reported findings consistent with a hernia. The emergency room physician discharged the plaintiff with instructions to follow up with the surgical service for repair of his presumed hernia. Less than two days later, the plaintiff returned to the same emergency department with increased pain. He was initially thought to have an incarcerated hernia – given the previous diagnosis just two days earlier – but an examination performed by a physician at that time revealed the spermatic cord could be palpated above the scrotum – a finding that seemed to contradict the diagnosis of a hernia.

$500,000 settlement during trial: Failure to diagnose testicular torsion and loss of testicle:
Our client went to the hospital with pain in his left testicle, but when he went there, rather than a doctor reading the ultrasound images and results to see if his testicle was twisted, a tech interpreted the scan. Unfortunately , the technician misread the images and it led to a failure to diagnose and treat a testicle that was twisted. The delay in diagnosing the testicular torsion and lack of blood flow to the testicle caused our client to lose his testicle. Medical Negligence at military hospital, $150,000 settlement. 26 year old Navy veteran presented to military hospital with sudden onset of testicular swelling and pain radiating into the groin. ER physician called in urology consultant who failed to order ultrasound to rule out testicular torsion. Patient placed on antibiotics and sent home, only to return to ER several days later with continued pain and swelling. An ultrasound was performed, which revealed diminshed blood flow to the testicle requiring surgery to remove the testicle.

Failure to Timely Evaluate and Treat Teenager’s Abdominal and Groin Pain - Boy Had History of Torsion - Loss of Testicle - $200,000 Settlement.
The plaintiff, a teenager, had a documented history of testicular torsion when he was brought to the emergency room in December 2003. He complained recent onset of terrible pain in the lower abdomen with stabbing, intermittent pain as well as groin ache.
The emergency room nurse was informed of the history of torsion. The plaintiff was not seen by a physician for almost three and one-half hours. When the plaintiff was finally treated, his testicle had a 750-degree torsion, was necrotic and required removal.
The plaintiff noted the delay in treatment caused the loss of the testicle.
According to a published account a $200,000 settlement was reached.
USAA Insurance Violates Duty of Good Faith, Failing Insured Families
usaa-insurance, usaa, insurance, good-faith, families, insured

$1,027,000 Verdict – Medical Malpractice for Failure to Diagnose (Boca Raton, FL)
A Florida teenager was rushed to the hospital for groin pain and was misdiagnosed by the emergency room physician as having a testicular infection. The doctor misdiagnosed the true injury, which was a testicular torsion, and he only had hours to appropriately diagnose and treat the torsion. Due to the misdiagnosis, the boy was sent home and ultimately lost one testicle. The jury awarded the plaintiff $900,000 in pain and suffering. The balance of the verdict was for medical expenses and court costs.

We tried this case for only a few days before the defendants paid $500,000.00 to settle the case.

Missionary Jobs, Missionary Work, Missions Opportunities - Paid Missionary Work
If interested in teaching English in China please send your resume, cover letter and photo. If chosen I can answer all other questions then. Do know I’m continually on the lookout for jobs in China as I build and enlarge my network to thereby cover every corner of China with Christian English teachers (and thereby church planters as my game plan is to have every teacher lead a weekly Bible study). That being said if you are not chosen for the job in Tianjin, I can send you other jobs elsewhere in China (and coach you on ministry effectiveness once you are in country).
As for Tianjin (where I am teaching and seeking a replacement teacher), the school year is in session now and will be completed at the end of April but the contract is for a year (as the school will resume after a May holiday). Chinese kids go to school 50 days a year more than American kids.
I am finalizing securing a lovely two floor loft apartment on the 31st floor overlooking a huge shopping mall (so you will be right next to two massive mega-million shopping malls and two of the biggest supermarkets in China right next to your apartment with Pizza Hut, McDonalds, Movie Theatre and all the luxuries at your fingertips and the school where you will teach just a 10-15 minute taxi ride away.
As for teaching you do not have to know any Chinese. You will be provided a Chinese teaching assistant who will help you prepare and print your teaching materials. You will receive a book to teach from and guide you titled “American Ways” and a supplementary book from which your Chinese teaching assistant will make copies both for you the teacher and the students for weekly lessons and assignments.
As a former public high school teacher in the state of Florida, this is a wonderful arrangement because as a teacher in Florida in the USA I was never provided a teaching assistant. I told my teaching assistant Tracy yesterday, “Every movie has a director and an actor. You be the director providing me the script and I will be the actor, bringing the lessons to life, provide lesson plans and guide the learning.
I strategically chose the location of my apartment in Tianjin to be as comfortable and accessible as possible (a city with a population of 12 million) and an air pollution problem as it appears they are powering the city with coal (and using Tianjin to power Beijing and perhaps other parts of China nearby). Nevertheless besides a white sky (and occasional blue days – May is a good month I’m told for a blue sky), I have found the air on the ground level is quite bearable and I walk outdoors daily with little problem. I actually have more problems being around cigarette smoke than the outdoor air pollution which seems to rise higher up and not affect me so much below.
ACES (American China Exchange Society) who makes contracts with schools pays 2000 RMB for the apartment and I (after you my replacement teacher) will pay 1000 RMB (divide by 6 for USD) and a small maintenance fee monthly (similar to a home owner association fee). The apartment is not yet furnished, but upon meeting the middle school’s headmaster yesterday (an energetic and vibrant 55 year-old) who presides over one of the most respected middle schools in Tianjin (80 years in existence), she so liked me she offered to take me to Ikea to buy furniture and use her member discount card this weekend.
It’s all coming together rather quickly, easily and miraculously. Know the people of China have covered this nation in prayer for decades and we are prophetically stepping into the fulfillment of those prayers (as Ether of old).
As for ACES, the director told me he has been in communication with New Oriental Education (a multi-billion dollar company / some say $70bn – on the New York Stock Exchange) which teaches TOEFL preparation courses helping Chinese students prepare to take exams to attend American Universities and offers some other enrichment courses.
However the New Oriental principal in one city told ACES director only 20% of students are satisfied. Many students don’t score well enough on official exams to attend Chinese Universities and many likely equally score poorly on TOEFL exams and are prevented from entering American universities.
ACES however has arrangement with the state of Washington (WA) allowing them to send Chinese high school students (prior to graduation) to attend WA Community Colleges, after which when they complete their studies they can then apply and proceed to study in American Universities. Many students have done well, improved their English substantially while living in the USA (versus just studying English for tests in China). Thus the model has proven to be effective from 6 students in 2006 (when the program launched) to nearly 2,000 students as of 2010.
I plan to write the governors of other U.S. states to ask them to consider making a similar educational arrangement with China and Chinese students to help build strategic relations with China and improve their economies (as many states in the USA are bankrupt).
People in Tianjin are said to be among the most friendly in China. I have not even been here a week yet and know something special is happening at ACES and in Tianjin.
The air quality is not like back home, but down below where people are (since the smoke rises and is more high in the sky) it smells fine to me. I've got a newborn five month old baby back home with my wife, the baby losing some weight (missing me and seemingly depressed) so I need to transition out of here (but unlike many teachers who abandon schools I want to find a Christian replacement) but want to stay in China and continue teaching and starting churches and Bible Schools (while recruiting more teachers to work with ACES a Christian organization).
Tianjin, China is about a 30 minute bullet train ride from Beijing.
Please send the cover letter and your resume if interested with a picture to both (RevivingNations@yahoo.com) and (info@PaulFDavis.com) writing in the subject of your email - Teacher for China - as sometimes I can have problems accessing my email for days (or am overwhelmed with emails and spam).
I’m told China blocks yahoo.com as well as Facebook and Twitter (the latter two I know for sure because I cannot access them).
Game Plan / China Strategy (1.5 billion souls)
After having a two to three hour lunch and lengthy conversations with the director of ACES (a lively and fiery visionary) I am committed to the vision of ACES (American China Exchange Society) and want to duplicate these schools across China and then on into Asia, Europe, and the Middle East (China Strategy +).
Although the Christian director of ACES (a Duke University graduate and MBA) is focused primarily on birthing and launching English schools, I see these also as a means of church planting and covertly accessing all of China. It's a God given model of church planting covertly through language and cultural exchange ...an answer to prayer and dream come true for those willing to brave the unknown and co-create with God what Jesus envisioned when He was crucified and travailed for the souls of mankind (Isaiah 53:10-11; Hebrews 2:10).
It's still in the development stages but God is bringing it all together nicely building on the years of labor of the faithful Christians at ACES (American China Exchange Society) who have gone before us. Now we must do our part and facilitate a national model the Chinese can embrace, run with and duplicate.
I trust the Victory Bible College (Tulsa, OK) curriculum will greatly assist us in the launching of new schools (as many provinces throughout China have more than 100 million people). Beijing alone has 20 million souls.
As for church planting (many churches are not officially registered so as to avoid being controlled). Church planting will evolve and must be led by the Holy Spirit in each region as the messages needing to be taught and preached will vary, but all shall be Christ centered and grounded (grace, faith, repentance, salvation, baptism, renewal, the Holy Spirit, the heart of God the Father, sanctification, transformation, purpose, heavenly calling, personal power, living victoriously, discipleship, leadership, supernatural living and ministry). God will draw people unto you both as a teacher and in the community to influence, impact and lovingly guide spiritually onward into the arms of Christ.
Send your resume, cover letter and photo to (RevivingNations@yahoo.com and info@PaulFDavis.com) stating why you'd be a good English teacher, cultural ambassador and missionary.
Blessings and breakthroughs!

Evangelist, Spiritual Teacher Impacting Nations
Evangelist, Spiritual Teacher Impacting Nations
Having just arrived in China hours ago I write to you. This is not my first trip to China, as an evangelist and spiritual teacher who has authored more than 20 books and touched over 70 countries.
God's Word is timeless and for every generation who rises up with childlike faith to believe and boldly take action to be different and make a difference.
God says "Ask of Me, and I will give you the nations for your inheritance, and the ends of the earth for Your possession" (Psalm 2:8).
Yes and Amen God! This is the cry of my heart!
Every world explorer and discover knows you have to be willing to embark on the unknown, leave the comforts of the shore and home to discover blessings beyond and see God's miraculous hand abroad.
As I do so I am again believing notable miracles to be shown and displayed by Almighty God through me (Acts 19:11) for His glory.

The kingdom of God, Supernatural Power, Love of Heavenly Father
The kingdom of God, Supernatural Power, Love of Heavenly Father
The kingdom of God is not in word, but in power (1Corinthians 4:20). The supernatural power of Jesus Christ by the power of the Holy Spirit that brought about the resurrection is alive and well throughout the earth, confirming the words of Christ with supernatural power, signs, wonders and miraculous manifestations through God's servants and prophets.
As a worldwide minister of Christ who has preached the gospel globally and touched 70 countries, I have witnessed the power of Christ to heal, save and deliver humanity. Many Muslims with tears in their eyes awakened to the reality of God as their heavenly Father throughout Malaysia and Indonesia through my ministry and left behind the cold harsh reality of Islam portraying God as merely a Judge who punishes and encourages killing of unbelievers.
Watch the videos of the supernatural power of God for yourself, which settles the issue as to who truly is God and good.

Indonesia and Malaysia, I Love and Miss You!
Indonesia and Malaysia, I Love and Miss You!
During my time traveling throughout Malaysia and Indonesia between 1999-2000 (and living there for some months while doing so) the impressions I was left with are as follows.
1. Malaysia is better organized as a country and less corrupt.
2. Malaysia is more restrictive than Indonesia, but as a result has a more orderly society.
3. Indonesia seems and feels more free than Malaysia.
4. Indonesians are more lively, expressive and free than Malaysians.
5. Malaysia is stronger economically, but given the size of Indonesia as it develops expect that to change.
6. I find Malaysia food (more diverse with a mix of Thai, Indian and Chinese) to be more tasty and appealing than traditional Indonesian food.
7. Indonesia has more drug addicts and alcoholics (and of course many more people also).
I deeply admire and love both Indonesia and Malaysia and their people ...and would happily return to live and work there without reservation or hesitation were I given the opportunity to do so. I feel like I am most happy when living in these 2 countries.

Philip Seymour Hoffman dead of drug overdose
Philip Seymour Hoffman dead of drug overdose
Sadly the best actor of his generation (as quoted by the New York Times), Philip Seymour Hoffman is dead of drug overdose.
As the surviving son of a drug addict and alcoholic, I know drug addicts are dealing with deeper emotional pain and unresolved issues from which they seek to temporarily escape through substance abuse. Yet not everything that is "fun" is fulfilling (despite the attempts of Hollywood's best actors to disguise their pain), nor does it deliver one from the pain, hurt and unanswered questions within.
The best feeling however is to be in the spiritual Presence of our loving and life-giving Creator which washes, heals, liberates, reassures and renews us. Truly there is no high like the most High because God's Spirit lifts us to the heavens and fills us to overflowing being both fun and fulfilling (unlike a temporary fleeting fix leading to a premature death).
