Life is Complicated, Enjoy The Journey
Life is Complicated, Enjoy The Journey
Life is complicated sometimes (mostly with relationships and finding a job that fits your personality, potential and purpose).
Nevertheless problems are essentially opportunities waiting to happen if you have the wits, vision and wisdom to capitalize on others' stupidity and oversight (i.e., poor environmental health making people sick throughout China).
Relationally speaking when life is complicated, you have to remember you cannot control people. God is a gentleman and gives people freedom to live their lives, not imposing spirituality on others, but rather giving them freedom to draw near to Him (see James 4:8). People therefore must be equally gracious to maintain their sanity and not drive others crazy (and out of their lives).
Living with controlling, belittling and manipulative people is not fun, nor easy. But the ups and downs of life is like a roller coaster which can be fun if you predetermine to relinquish control and enjoy the journey.
Also you can have more out of life if you refuse to settle for less. You get what you expect and what you tolerate will continue to dominate. Don't perpetuate your pain by being mediocre and allowing others to disrespect you.
Uncomplicate your life pertaining to things within your control:
1. The people you allow access to you.
2. The way you allow people to speak to you.
3. The extent to which you allow people to interact with you.
Walk away from others who don't honor and respect you. Delete their calls and emails and move on with you live to enjoy a new beginning and be your best aside from their stinking thinking and poverty mentality.
God thinks highly of you. You should too!

The premature dissolution of the Ottoman Empire feared by the European Great Powers lest it upset the established balance of power reveals how superpowers navigate geopolitically and militarily globally to protect their national interests. Hence governance by proxy is both a stabilizing and undermining force depending on what side you are on.
Such a reliance on proxy rulers by the Ottomans led to disintegration of the empire due to inadequate assessment and inability to collect resources (primarily through taxation) from lands under their oversight (Lecture 2).

LA Fitness Environmental Health Violations - Toxic Chemicals, Mold & Health Hazards
An environmental investigation by the Environmental & Occupational Disease Epidemiology Program of the City of New York regarding chemical ingredients of urethanes used as wood floor coatings showed a variety of adverse health effects.
"Brief exposures to elevated levels of
these materials can result in headaches, respiratory irritation, and exacerbation of asthma; while very high and/or long-term (e.g. lifetime) exposures can lead to more serious health effects such as organ damage, reproductive effects, chemical allergies, and possibly cancer."
The New York City Department of Health and Mental Hygiene (DOHMH) therefore recommends whenever such urethanes are used in enclosed spaces that:
1. Ventilation be increased and exhaust of solvent vapors and odors to remove the hazardous chemicals from the air. Otherwise more eco-friendly and safe materials should be used to prevent adverse health affects.
2. Occupants and those within the building be fully informed regarding use of urethanes and the health hazard (even more so without adequate ventilation being provided in enclosed spaces).
3. The date and times of application should be posted in the building common areas and distributed to occupants and health club members to forewarn them of the health hazard.

LA Fitness did none of the above at its LA Fitness "Health" Club in Orlando, Florida (located on Conway Rd. and Michigan Rd.).
LA Fitness has repeatedly tolerated mold in the LA Fitness in Orlando (Colonial Drive at Baldwin Park) where it is highly able to detect and smell upon walking into the "health" club, even more so as you enter the free weight area.
Long time members of LA Fitness at Baldwin Park have mentioned mold has gone on far years and the building has not been cleared of it resulting in widespread coughing, sinus and respiratory problems for many members working out regularly at the LA Fitness "health club."
I told Paul the manager of LA Fitness at Baldwin Park, but apparently LA Fitness corporate (I suspect based on Paul's failure to take action) does not want to spend the money to fix the mold problem, preferring to keep the gym operational to ensure maximum profitability (not health for its members).
When the LA Fitness on Conway recently redid the floors of the basketball court and aerobics area, the polyurethane and chemicals were so heavy I immediately got a sore throat within 15 minutes of being in the LA Fitness "health" club.
No signs were posted. No LA Fitness members were warned or told (just rather informed those areas were not open for use). Nothing was said about the health hazard.
Nevertheless a day or two after the basketball floor was "finished" - guys at night ripped the tape off the door and propped trash cans to "ventilate" the basketball floor (something managers and employees should have been doing at night).
Hence when the doors to the basketball court were open, the toxic fumes were going directly into the LA Fitness "health" club where members were lifting weights and exercising.
Again on day two and several days thereafter when working out at LA Fitness I got a sore throat. Upon telling the lady working the front desk at 9pm and asking her to shut the doors to the basketball court, she told me: "You can do it, but I cannot leave the front desk."
I therefore closed the basketball court doors myself because LA Fitness failed to safeguard their "health" club for members and was not proactive.
A week and a half after the aerobics floor was redone, upon going to yoga class, when I got a whiff of the chemicals coming off the floor, I had to leave and skip yoga. My lungs are more important than exercise (yet ironically health clubs are intended to help respiration and blood circulation not restrict and pollute it as does LA Fitness cheap chemicals used on its floors).

The ongoing environmental health violations, health hazards and negligence of LA Fitness managers is concerning. Although LA Fitness managers (Becky at LA Fitness Conway Rd in Orlando and Paul at LA Fitness at Baldwin Park in Orlando) are super sweet people and do a great job with customer service and keeping LA Fitness profitable, in regard to "health" club cleanliness, hygiene and environmental health (beginning with air quality) they both a failing horribly.
I realize most health club managers are not trained in environmental health, but considering human beings can only live 2 minutes without oxygen they should be.
Among the other environmental health violations and health hazards I have witnessed at LA Fitness are:
- wet slippery bathroom floors
- weight equipment with dripping sweat left behind by members
- paper towels and water bottles disposed of and left behind on the gym floor
- members coughing and sneezing not covering their mouths
- food chef disposing of lit cigarette at the LA Fitness entrance next to a fire engine (as firemen dealt with an electrical fire in the sauna)
- food chef frying bacon (with furans being released into the air throughout the gym - a known cancer causing agent noted by the European Food Safety) Authority -
LA Fitness has some great janitors and cleaning crew (respectful and professional). Yet LA Fitness only has the janitors and cleaning crew come in a few hours a day to minimize the cost of hiring them and again maximize profitability. Hence the "health" club is often a wreck and disgusting.
LA Fitness environmental health violations - tolerance of toxic chemicals, mold and health hazards can no longer be neglected. It is time for city and county health departments to stand up and do something!
Likewise I encourage all LA Fitness members to document environmental health violations and report them to their city, county and state health departments along with the EPA and CDC to ensure something is done to improve environmental health at LA Fitness "health" club.

Yet Coca Cola didn't even remove benzoic acid from its soft drink until 2008, which it discovered when combined with ascorbic acid forms benzene (not an ideal drink for one's health). Yet many spas use products with the same unknowingly assuming them to be perfectly fine.
