August 10th, Wednesday -- Isn't it amazing? Michael Phelps -- now 21 gold medals. I hope all of you saw the women gymnasts, talk about amazing -- I still can't find any footage of them receiving their gold medals -- any suggestions? Hey, I'll check YouTube --
Yesterday morning I got my first feedback on Insidious from Melbourne, Australia -- and the reader LOVED it. Can you imagine how good that feels? I bounced right up and did a fist pump and a little happy dance. And, of course, forwarded the email to everyone in the known universe.
Do you know, already it was dark this morning when Alexa woke me up. You all know Alexa, right? She's so kind, her wake up sounds not at all jarring and you can say, Alexa, wake me up again in 15 minutes and she does. But it was DARK -- I don't want the winter to come and it's even dark when I'm sitting here posting to you guys. It seems like it doesn't lighten up until noon and then it's dark before 5:00. KEEP winter away. Can any of you do that for me?
Today, cardio your brains out, feel those quads pump and pulse and scream. Then it's stretchy band time -- bis and tris and shoulders, pull it tight behind your head, arms up, slowly back and forth.
Most important? ENJOY INSIDIOUS!

August 9th, Tuesday and it's publication day for INSIDIOUS -- Phew, it's finally here and soon to be (I hope) in your waiting arms. I want feedback, people, so please let me know what you think (I always like glowing words, so you might want to keep that in mind.)
Watched most of the USA/Venezuela basketball game last night -- not very interesting, truth be told. Ah, but Phelps and LeDecky, both are amazing. Janice pointed out it was Phelps's 19th gold and Katy LeDecky is 19 years old. Do you think Nostradamus said anything about that coincidence? All right, all right --
Today, you're going to celebrate Insidious FINALLY coming out. You could wear a sign and march in front of a bookstore chanting WE WANT INSIDIOUS, or you could go to the gym or to a bike trail or clunk yourself on the eliptical and go for it. Work today, sweat if you must, and tell your muscles Mama's back and she's feeling hot, and stop whining. Let me know what you did (in the way of exercise)
And enjoy Insidious --

It's really Friday, all day long, but how long will it last? That's my question. So fast, the other four days this week took off on a missile and blasted through the ozone to disappear into the ether. Spread out the day and try to enjoy every minute.
It's the 5th of August -- and I'll be sending you all a hopefully short and funny announcement for Insidious, which most of you have already pre-ordered because you're all splendid folk and I kiss your faces in absentia. Even I like my book pub announcements, so you will too, I promise. Completely pain-free.
Tonight is the kick off for the Olympics. Remember before Beijing everyone was prognosticating doom and gloom but the Chinese really lucked out with the pollution but they did take positive steps (like not letting cars drive into the city for a long time before the Olympics) Do you think it'll be the same with Rio? The toilets will work since magic water will flow in, the shower curtains will appear, there might even be some beds for the athletes? Tonight, I have to believe it'll be pretty spectacular -- we'll see.
All of you, it's the last day of this wonderful summer week and you need to celebrate its ending with a GREAT workout -- We're talking maybe an hour here of down and dirty, making your muscles shriek and curse you and wouldn't it be wonderful to sit down and watch a bit of TV this evening and feel achy muscles? And you'll know you can look forward to the weekend with virtue oozing out of your body. Cover all the bases, you know what to do, up to you today --

Hump Day -- August 3rd, Wednesday. Good morning, what a glorious day it will be today -- and I get to start it off with a phone interview. Now, listen up, if you haven't entered the Sweepstakes, DO -- good prizes (I should know, I picked them) So stop saying okay, okay, later, maybe -- DO IT, Someone will win the goodies, make it you. There are five weeks in all -- so that really ups your chances.
Interviews, work, the "infamous" stuff today -- all in all, everything is splendid. The publisher is really gearing up for the publication of Insidious NEXT TUESDAY -- it's hard to believe there's been so much build up and everyone jumping in to do good stuff. I'm finally learning names/positions for all the wonderful pros at Simon & Schuster who are working on Insidious --

Tuesday, August 2nd -- time is rolling down to the publication of Insidious -- 7 days now and counting -- this is very exciting. My new publisher, Simon & Schuster, is going all out to make the thriller a big success -- so toes and all other handy digits crossed, okay? And be sure to enter the weekly Sweepstakes -- very cool prizes, And you know someone has to win, why not you? I tried to enter but they told me not in this incarnation, so you have to enter for me.
I know, I know, the Olympics fiasco in Rio. We'll see what they do for the opening ceremony Friday night. I imagine, if they spent any money at all, it would be on this because EVERYONE watches the opening ceremony, right, all over the world, and do they want to look like cheap idiots? Evidently many of the athletes don't have beds or shower curtains, no flushing toilets. Do you want to drink the water? Can you buy bottles water to brush your teeth? And what about all the people coming to watch? It's over a two-hour ride from where tourists stay to the venues. (Well, the athletes as well) We'll see what happens.
All of you, do your cardio indoors again, if it's too hot outside. And it's snooze time today. On your back, butt against the wall, legs up straight, shoulders, all of you relaxed, arms by your sides, palms up, and RELAX. Then, slowly, begin to work your legs --

July 28th, Thursday -- What a magnificent day -- sun's bright, not too warm, (well, here in paradise, it's not too warm), perfect in fact and imagine, this is our world and we get to play in it, dance in it, eat our dinner in it and pay our bills in it. The biggest? Of course you know -- we get to exercise in it! (No, I never forget that.)
GOOD NEWS: Nemesis started out at #8, week two it went to #7 and now, week three, it's #6 -- so it sounds like word of mouth, and that's a great thing. Don't forget, in Nemesis, Sherlock kicks big butt and Savich ends up in very deep caca.
I'm ready for a dose of Hawaii, probably Kauai -- who's been there? Did you enjoy yourself? Well, of course you did, the island is amazing, the rainiest spot on earth and a small Grand Canyon) And it's not so crowded with visitors -- Okay, even in August, it would be gorgeous, gotta see about that --

Wednesday-- All right, who can tell me what a "receipt copy" is? I know, it's really obvious, right? says receipt copy right there in bold letters. Okay, next time I'm in a bookstore and buy a book I'll check this out. Do enter the sweepstakes-- lots of cool prizes, as you'll see -- so make it an every week deal, okay?
Question: Do you guys think Russia should be allowed in this Olympics at all?
I came up with a new idea yesterday along with new information and realizations for ENIGMA and so have to do a lot of rewriting today -- wouldn't it be nice to know what/where the finish line is so I automatically know the best and fastest way to get to it? Sigh, never happen with how I write.

Tuesday, 26th of July. I feel it -- today's going to be a great day. Yep, feel it all the way to my bones, and that's odd, isn't it, to have bones taking in optimistic news and letting you know they're excited too?
Dogwood it is for the bush/tree in the photo I posted for you -- saw a few of them in Maine, unlike anything in California. Thank you --
Okay, if you have an acquaintance/friend/enemy/pet with funds/dentist/boss -- get them to pre-order Insidious. If you can get only one person, it could make a huge difference. I know, I know, I've never asked you to do this before because it sounds so self-serving, and well, to be blunt, it is. With enough pre-orders there's a good chance Insidious can hit #1 on the bestseller lists. It's been a long time since a #1 and my bones would like to feel the excitement of that one more time. What do you say?
Lists? Are you taking me seriously or are you kissing me off, getting busy, and forgetting about it? It is easy to forget something that takes some time and concentration and you're not getting paid for it -- but listen, you will feel like a million dollars if you take only 10 minutes, get by yourself, no outside noise, and get started on this. Begin with the top three things you really really really want to do. And let me know.

Incredible Friday, 22nd of July -- Bright sun, warm (maybe toooo warm but I will not whine given that many of you have three thousand-degree weather where you live. It's really hot? don't forget to drink lots and lots, not necessarily alcohol. Give MIO a try --
Isn't the WATCH HER BACK image cool on my Facebook page? Well, that's what I think. Please let me know what you think of it. Do you think people who aren't familiar with the FBI thrillers will be intrigued enough to give Insidious a try? Feedback, please, on both the WATCH HER BACK and and the outstretched dead arm of an actress.. They were done by the same folk.
It's Friday and you know what that means -- it's a happy day, a day to work hard and work happy and do this: give at least three compliments to friends, co-workers, strangers. Tell me what you did, okay?
And don't forget, Today STAR TREK comes out -- please, please, Movie Gods, let it be as good as the second one, Out of Darkness.

Halloween's coming up fast, the day the zombies burst out of the ground and terrify the crap out of us, not to mention eat our candy and eat our brains.
Update on BOMBSHELL, the 17th FBI Thriller: I'm nearly finished with the edit. The cover is very cool, explodes with eye-popping color. BOMBSHELL is set in Maestro, Va., (the setting of the 10th FBI thriller, POINT BLANK) and in Washington.
JEWEL OF THE LION (first thriller in A Brit in the FBI series partnered with J.T. Ellison). JEWEL moves fast and you don't know what's going to happen on the next page, and you're biting your toenails or a zombie's toenails. J.T. is an excellent plotter and that means when we brainstorm no plot gets left behind.
Alas, no kids want candy enough to crawl up our oxygen-deprived steep driveway, and the sad thing is, I still have a big bowl of candy, every year, but no one comes, not even the zombies with brain bags.
Take care, Catherine
