October 27, Thursday. Big soon-to-be-pouring-down-buckets-of-rain sort of day. Lots of you are swimming around your area with all the rains, and we're due for more today. It's great since we need it, so complaints are few. As I said, the Marin Headlands are greening up nicely.
Pedal to the medal, nose to the grindstone, chains to the feet sort of writing day. Real critical part of Enigma and I know what should happen, but again, it's a matter of getting my delivery system digits on the keyboard. If it's not wonderful, it's there and I can work on it and change it, if necessary, which it almost always is.
Today is a sleepy sort of day, hard to umph yourselves to make your bods happy. Tell you what, watch TV for an hour and during that hour do your cardio, stretch, abs, and free weights for your bis and tris --

Rainy Tuesday, the 25th of October: Got a new book announcement for you: The Secret Blush, a romantic suspense, by E. Jones (that's Ethan). It's an ebook and it's on Kindle. Our heroine, Jennifer, is in major caca. You'll like her, root for her -- lots of action and fun, be sure to give it a try.
It's the oddest thing, but here's the truth: I can brainstorm what should happen next in a plot (or not), but what works is that I must sit down at the computer and it simply comes out, words/actions/behaviors I'd never foreseen. Yesterday I had no idea where my bad guy had hidden the stolen stuff he'd hidden since he was wounded and couldn't do much before the FBI caught him. I sat down and it all came out Thank you, Lord, thank you. The trick, always, at least in my case, is don't worry and stew about a plot problem, it'll come. Sorry, don't mean to bore you, but what happened really surprised me. I sure hope you'll like what came out of the end of my fingers. Oh yes, this is from Enigma.
Busy, busy today -- not able to write for most of the a.m. but I can always do that this afternoon when I drive Carlotta into the garage and head to my office.

Friday the 21st of October -- What a day this is going to be, a great day, one filled with at least one new scene in Enigma, it's already roving around in my head. I'm going to meet, for the first time, one of my villains. I cannot figure out how to describe his hair/head -- you've seen guys who have this spear of hair, and on each side it's all scalp? I simply can't figure out how to say that without clumsiness. All suggestions appreciated.
Fall leaves -- we really don't have them here in Sausalito, have to drive a couple of hours to admire the incredible beautiful. One of you send me a red tree -- gorgeous. Where you live can you walk outside and bask in all the gorgeousness? And how long does it last? I went to school in Boston, and that always a lovely memory.

October 20th -- Beautiful Thursday, and it's going to be a day to remember. Why, you ask? Because you're going to make it so. It's all up to you. You want to make memories that leave you excited and blessed and with an added punch of happy and even a glow. How do you achieve this? Try doing something for someone else -- at work, maybe, or for a neighbor -- go out of your way a bit, see what happens when you reach out and put yourself out there. Just a bit, here and there, see what happens. And when you lie in bed tonight, think about the couple of good things you did and tell me how it made you feel.
No pre-ordering The Resident Evil at Blackthorn Manor yet -- no cover yet plus there's tons of other stuff to be decided. What's great about people who are experts (Nichole, Alicia, et. al at Trident) is they can get things going and bring out ebooks fast with great plans and results. I'll keep you posted. Yeah, Resident Evil comes from the movies. Great title.
The newsletter will be out tomorrow -- so let me know if you don't get it by Monday, okay?

Wednesday, four minutes before 7:00 and the dawn is breaking -- I wonder where that came from -- Dawn breaking -- breaking what? Stop it, okay, it's the 19th of October and this month has been breaking records for speed to the November finish line.
Work today, and so many outside things to accomplish -- time, it just takes so much time and what's a poor person to do? Whine, I guess, sorry, will now shut up. I'm returning the copy-edited The Resident Evil at Blackthorn Manor today -- this is the 2nd Grayson Sherbrooke otherworldly adventures, set in Scotland. It will be out in early November -- remember now, ONLY ON EBOOK -- since it's only about 22,000 words, far too short to be packaged in book format. Believe me, there'll be breaking news. It's great fun.
Who saw Beckham kiss the net? Did you see Eli Manning's talk about him? I gotta say, Eli was smooth and honest.
Today for all of us it's CARDIO --if you are able, and if not, you do what you can, but ALWAYS DO SOMETHING, okay? Kick-boxing, Yoga, step, manic biking, you name it, get your hearts pumping hard and fast and celebrate that you can do it -- health is a wonderful thing and you can never take it for granted, so if you're thinking, yeah, I'll do something tomorrow or maybe the next day, you need to be shaken and smacked and spun in circles. You begin today and you will be disciplined -- you work your body every single day. Phew! Okay, enough of a rant, but you get my drift unless you're on the other side of the moon and my message is breaking up. How wonderful, it's Hump Day --

Dark Tuesday, the 18th of October -- It's nearly 7:00 o'clock and it's still dark as a prune pit (they are dark, I saw one yesterday). Okay, I know now what I did to lose Sunday's post along with my picks for Week #6. I wasn't paying attention and posted on the wrong page -- how's that for a splendid excuse? Not buying it? Actually, I smacked myself aside the head. I think there was a minion slap too.
We all sound like we're doing about the same up to and including Week #6 on the Football Pool, that is we're all batting at about 500. Last week I had a 4-0 and boy did that feel good. Alas, now this week I was back to my usual 2-2..Will perfection happen again? Probably not, but it's always fun to hope and cheer and groan and moan afterward. How about that non-call in the Seahawks/Falcons game? What did you think about it?
Today, you will not pass GO unless you get your cardio done and your tris and bis worked out hard. Instead, you'll go directly to jail rather than to bed tonight. So beware. Halloween is right around the corner and this means the exercise minions will dress up to terrify and will be looking for slackers, so don't be a slacker. Get your body glistening with beautiful perspiration and smile and admire yourself in the mirror (or in other's eyes)

I just said that aloud, sounds very weird. Today, going here and there, visiting, a play in Naples tonight--Rocky Horror Show Who'-s heard of it? All goes well. I think my thighs felt your workout donation. Thank you.

GORGEOUS FRIDAY -- the 7th of October and it's a birthday party today, rather TWO birthday celebrations. Alas, I have to remove the wonderful Halloween table decorations for a tablecloth -- but I will do a short video so you can see it. Cakes, you ask? What kind of cakes or I'm not interested. You will be interested, I swear. A princess cake, a carrot cake from the HCF, a German chocolate cake, a Hummingbird cake. Does that sound wonderful, or what? And for luncheon, it's homemade Mexican -- oh be still my heart (and my thighs) And so many presents -- yes, yes, I know I have to work this morning, as usual.
I finished the exciting scene yesterday -- so they're not out of the Daniel Boone National Forest -- and onward to even more exciting stuff.
This is Friday, end of the week, and BLOW OUT EXERCISE is #1 on your To Do List: Don't let yourself down on this, guys, it's super important, plus you will feel like a million bucks all day and virtuous. What a combination -- can't beat it. So you pick your routine today and remember, go all out, and feel superior -- with my blessing.

October 6th -- Thursday -- Thank you for all the stories -- but you know what I would really like? Tell me about one specific incident, something you will never ever forget, can be scary or joyful.
I'm writing the rest of the chase in the forest today -- and it's going to have a wild denouement -- Not the end of the book, mind you, the end of this segment that will lead to more mysteries and excitement. But what is it, you ask? I have no clue.

October 5th, Wednesday, the day before Thursday Night Football. Okay, folks, what's wrong with the Panthers? The Cardinals? Any ideas, we can pass on to the coaches of these two teams.
Like I told you yesterday, I planned to follow my own advice about simply writing and I did. Wrote about 10 pages, wrote something I'd never thought of, and while it does need editing, I think it works, excites things, coming to a big scary climax. Yea!
Who out there has lived outside the U.S.? Where? How long? And what did you think? Did you speak the language, try to learn? It's always fascinating to hear what folk think when they're immersed in other cultures, see new ways of doing things, see how people think about politics and religious, what sets them off, what excites them. If you've done this, please check in and tell us a story --

Halloween's coming up fast, the day the zombies burst out of the ground and terrify the crap out of us, not to mention eat our candy and eat our brains.
Update on BOMBSHELL, the 17th FBI Thriller: I'm nearly finished with the edit. The cover is very cool, explodes with eye-popping color. BOMBSHELL is set in Maestro, Va., (the setting of the 10th FBI thriller, POINT BLANK) and in Washington.
JEWEL OF THE LION (first thriller in A Brit in the FBI series partnered with J.T. Ellison). JEWEL moves fast and you don't know what's going to happen on the next page, and you're biting your toenails or a zombie's toenails. J.T. is an excellent plotter and that means when we brainstorm no plot gets left behind.
Alas, no kids want candy enough to crawl up our oxygen-deprived steep driveway, and the sad thing is, I still have a big bowl of candy, every year, but no one comes, not even the zombies with brain bags.
Take care, Catherine
