Wednesday, 18th of January -- already mid-week -- still dark outside and that gives one pause, like whatever am I doing up in the middle of the night? That's just not right. It's after 7:00 and STILL DARK? I think the winter weather gods are really pissed. About what? I haven't done anything ornery, how about you guys?
Glad you're enjoying Blackthorn -- I like shortening that lovely long title to that, thank you. Another Sherbrooke adventure novella? Oh yes, I just don't know when I can write it, but it will happen, promise.
Some of you have pre-ordered THE DEVIL'S TRIANGLE from B&N to get a signed copy. If you haven't and if you want autographs, please get it done, I don't want to hear you were too late to get one.

Tuesday, January 17th -- Most of you did very well on picking winners for the playoffs this weekend -- the games were wild and wonderful, which makes it that much more fun.
ANNOUNCEMENT: If you want a signed hardcover (both J.T. Ellison and yours truly, then pre-order THE DEVIL'S TRIANGLE (the 4th BRIT in the FBI series) from Barnes & Noble. We only signed 600 copies, so if you want one, pre-order now. J.T. has lovely handwriting, I do not, so be warned, but I do try.
Don't forget, INSIDIOUS in paperback is out in February and is available for pre-order as well.
Who's read THE RESIDENT EVIL AT BLACKTHORN MANOR? If so, what did you think? Did all the winners of the cover --the poster is very very cool.) Do you like them?

January 12th -- Thursday -- Hey, nearly to the end of the week -- AGAIN. You all know about the drought in California and the saying when it rains it pours. Well, the rains are wonderful, the flooding up north is destructive. In Tahoe in the Sierra, they're getting slammed with snow after three years of very little snow which really hurt the economy. A friend in Alabama says it was snowing three days ago and today it will be 70 degrees. What's going on? I know, I'll ask the regional weather minion -- I do wonder if she knows.
All of you are experiencing all sorts of weird weather -- do you think it's weirder than any other year? Or is this unusual for your area?

Wednesday, January 11th -- At last it's getting light, but there are huge black clouds shrouding San Francisco -- it looks amazing, a sort of in-the-zone menace.
All you persons of the female persuasion out there -- do you take compliments well? Do you say "thank so much" and shut up? (This is the right way) Or do you fall into the programmed, "Oh, this old thing, oh, my hair looks like crap," blah, blah, blah? If you're the latter, then practice in front of the mirror, accepting the compliment with a lovely smile, okay? But you say, he/she didn't really mean it? SHUT UP. "Thank you." And that's it.
Not so much rain and wind today, near 60 degrees, so it will be warmish. How about you guys in the tundra? Minus 50 degrees? Swirling snow and your nose is frozen? Is it true that rain storms in Florida can top the worse rain storms (in sheer volume in the least amount of time) anywhere else? Weigh in, please.

Okay, okay, today isn't the 3rd -- It's the 4th, a lovely rainy chilly day in January -- the first Wednesday of the year. Don't know about you but I always love mid-week -- If you're of a philosophical bent, you can think of Wednesday as mid-point on the mountain for poor Sisyphus. Push that rock, Dude, you can do it.
Please get in your final NFL 2016 tally. I'm closing it down Friday, so tote up your wins/losses and post them to me. also, your predictions on the winners for this weekend. Giants? Packers? Seahawks? Lions? You get the idea -- let's here it --
Very little pollution left, thank you, Sudafed, thank you, Sudafed. I'll continue to take two of those suckers a day for another three or four days, just to keep everything in check. Do you have a favorite cold remedy? That works even a little bit? So that you can tell a tiny bit of difference? It's amazing, isn't it, that in the 23rd century (Star Trek) there's still no cure for baldness or colds? Hmm, makes you wonder
who was in charge for the next two centuries.

Tuesday, January 3rd -- Still dark as a pit out -- that's the only reason I don't love winter in San Francisco -- stays dark until you're ready to have your breakfast. Okay, guys, give me your final wins/losses for the 2017 NFL season: The winner gets a book of their choice -- alas, it does have to be one of mine. My final tally was 41-27 -- not bad, not bad. Did you beat that? (Yeah, yeah, I know you probably did, lay it on me, I can take it.)
Today is work. No longer so noticeably polluted, which is good. Writing Enigma -- lots of challenges with this sucker. Am I whining? Nah, not really, just wishing things would speed up.
Who has seen Passengers? I've read it's horrible, I've read it's wonderful -- eye of the beholder sort of film? What did you think?

Wednesday, the 28th of December. It seems like the days are slowing down now that the end of the year is in sight. I mean, before Christmas, the hours were galloping by, hard to catch your breath, so much to do, so much to survive -- but now, it's all over and we're all taking a lovely deep slow breath. To reward us for surviving Christmas, it was the Time Minions who are responsible for slowing things down and I, for one, am very grateful. Thank you, Time Minions.

Wednesday, the day after Chinese food/5 desserts/a gazillion presents -- what a day -- almost overload, but not quite. And now it's inching up Christmas, this beautiful day, the 21st of December.
A lot of you told me your plans and they sounds well nigh perfect.
Remember, there is not a single excuse for spending Christmas alone -- do you hear me? Do you hear the Christmas Minions shouting the same thing behind me? The best place to find wonderful Christmas events is to go to Church. No, I don't want to hear that you're an atheist or a Buddhist or a pagan minion worshiper, get thee to your local Church of whatever denomination or practice, and dive into what they're offering. Seeing Christmas smiles and hearing Christmas laughter, there's nothing like it.
Tomorrow, off to the east coast for the HUGE family get-together, around 35 family this year. I hope you all read my Christmas newsletter -- describes it to a T. No one gets toasted, which is good, just a bit of a light buzz in the air and singing and children shouting and going crazy.

December 16, FRIDAY -- Today, after finishing writing, a group of us will go into San Francisco to a lovely restaurant in North Beach, then to BIORDI'S -- an Italian ceramics wonderland. I think this is maybe the 13th year we've done this. What a great tradition. If you've never heard of Biordi's -- Google them and take a walk through the store, it is amazing. Not too late for a present.
WINNERS OF The Resident Evil at Blackthorn Manor big glorious posters:

Halloween's coming up fast, the day the zombies burst out of the ground and terrify the crap out of us, not to mention eat our candy and eat our brains.
Update on BOMBSHELL, the 17th FBI Thriller: I'm nearly finished with the edit. The cover is very cool, explodes with eye-popping color. BOMBSHELL is set in Maestro, Va., (the setting of the 10th FBI thriller, POINT BLANK) and in Washington.
JEWEL OF THE LION (first thriller in A Brit in the FBI series partnered with J.T. Ellison). JEWEL moves fast and you don't know what's going to happen on the next page, and you're biting your toenails or a zombie's toenails. J.T. is an excellent plotter and that means when we brainstorm no plot gets left behind.
Alas, no kids want candy enough to crawl up our oxygen-deprived steep driveway, and the sad thing is, I still have a big bowl of candy, every year, but no one comes, not even the zombies with brain bags.
Take care, Catherine
