Friday Morning
I am rather magnificently out of sorts this morning. I woke with a headache, compounded by himself carrying on about all of the household tasks that were not done yesterday whilst I was working: did you know, my friends, that dishes do not wash themselves nor the washer fill itself gleefully to the churning brim with work clothes and towels? It's a marvel, how badly things behave. And given the requirement that one have both tits and a driver's license to encourage the cleaning of dishes and...

Here's an Astonishing Revelation
It is tremendously easier to do my job when I have a quiet place to work and am not interrupted every five minutes with crisis like "I'm hungry!" or "There's nothing to do...." or have to be not in my house for hours at time.
Who knew?
Ok, Virginia Woolf had a clue, I guess. I remember reading a little about that.

Letters for the Daughters: Trusting
There are only two kinds of problems that you'll have with people. The first type happens when you trust people too much. The second type happens when you don't trust people enough.
The thing to remember is that everyone is trustworthy, after their own fashion. It's a good trick, and one I haven't at all mastered myself, to learn the language of people's fashions; to understand what you can expect from someone whom you will never have perfect knowledge of.

Tuesday Morning
It's gray hazy here this morning, and hot. Rain's promising; the touch of moisture hangs in the air, taunting, taunting. All the plants are stretching heavenward, just begging for rain. Wee leaves have gone yellow with wanting. I think yellow is the color of desire unmet, affection unrequited. Summer yellow, anyway, the dry gold of need.
The peas, though. Soon the peas will be ready, swollen in their pods. Nadia and I searched the wee bed this morning, looking for yummies. Perhaps tonight the...

Letters for the Daughters: Be Scary
Do you know what is scary? Do you know what terrifies the shit out of people?
Competence is scary. Confidence is scary. Individuality is scary. Owning your own truth is scary. Strength is scary. No is scary - and YES, YES is terrifying.
Go scare the shit out of people. Do what you do, and do it well. Put your head up and look them in the eye. If they can't look you back, just as fierce and furious and fabulous as you are - let them look away. Their time will come. Don't you back down. ...

It Turns Out
That there are few things as disruptive in this world as discovering baby skunks.
I leave the rest to your imagination.

Onward, Upward, Forward!
Do you know those people, who upon hearing you say you feel badly about something and dislike feeling that way, say, "Well, then just don't feel that way?" And do you know how that sometimes makes you really want to hit them with a large stick, but you manage to restrain yourself (barely) with thoughts of criminal consequence and also a serious lack of appropriate stick? And while you're restraining yourself, sometimes for years, for these people are nothing if not consistent, you observe tha...

Friday Morning
It is going to be a good day. Nadia did nearly 100 "Bobs" during swimming lessons this morning; her personal best. She's determined to float. I think having her friend's little brother in the class is a fabulous motivator.
We've gone up to the Amish and gotten a bag of donuts. There was a yard sale on the way and I've gotten a little brass telescope: I bought it wholly as a decorative piece, but it works passably well, which pleases me. I think Tim will like it.

The Midnight Muse
I am thankful for the inspirations that come in the middle of the night. Yes, they get me out of bed, but the story that results is wonderful. (Or at least really full of words, which lately is close enough to wonderful to make me a happy camper indeed!) If everyone wasn't fast asleep, I'd be laughing aloud with delight. Instead, there's LJ.
May all of you have awesome midnight muse experiences too!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
