Dirty Money
Story has rules, you know, and one of those rules is this:
If a story is asked for and you would give, you must acknowledge the request before you tell the tale. Give credit where credit is due; 'tis inquiry that lead to inspiration and what is would not be had the question not been asked.
With that in mind, I've a tale to tell, and it's for a coward of a man who has things to say about the way people earn their living. I'm sure he won't mind if the rest of you read it too.

Wednesday Morning
I went out looking for profundity this morning and instead found the peonies. They're all blooming, feathery fuschia balls of bloom as big as my hand. It's an extravagant beauty; the prom dress a six year old would choose, free from any thought of propriety, restraint, hedging against tomorrow...there is no planning ahead for peonies. A single strong wind will destroy them, heavy heads on fragile stems enough to end it all - but who cares? They were here this morning, and the sun was bright ...

Monday Morning Random
Have you ever tried to figure out what combination of tv characters would best define who you are? I think, after years of trying, that I have finally hit on my own mix. I am roughly equal parts of Morticia Adams, Hyacinth Bucket, and Ma Ingalls.
Who are you?
Ah, life is good. Absurd, sometimes, flat out Moebius is my garden planner loopy, but good.
Yesterday was the first time ever that I tried golfing (and I mean golfing in the broadest possible sense, as in "I hit a golf ball with a golf cl...

Friday Night
Phew. This has been a long, long day. I've written half a dozen articles, give or take, and that's been about it productivity wise. This weekend, I'm going to be editing on Saturday and hope to make great progress - Sunday is Father's Day and officially a day off. Tim wants lasagna for his meal, and so I shall make lasagna. Yum!
And I spent some good time in the garden. There are blooms on everything now; the tomatoes and zuchinni and cucumbers are blooming before the peas, which is just ...

Hanging In There
How do you hang in there? That's a twenty dollar question, on this, a ten cent type of day. I've been pondering it pretty hardcore; intently for a week or so since someone I care about asked it, as a background question for as long as I've been paying attention to things.
When I was doing more journalism than I do right now, I got to interview a lot of people. And when you talk to a lot of people, you get to hear all about the horrible things that have happened to them in the course of their...

Crazy Week is Crazy
How is it Wednesday already? This week is flying by. This is a quick post to say all is well and that you are all in my thoughts, some of you especially so, and I'm sending love and good wishes in many directions, and that our regularly scheduled blathering will resume tomorrow!

Monday Morning
I called my sister first thing this morning.
"What's wrong?" she said. "I'm at work. You never call this early!"
"It's your birthday!" I said. "Happy Birthday to you!"
"You're a dork," she said. And laughed.

Today is Harmony's last day of school. We won't know for days and days her final grades. I think she's enjoying that fact.
This weekend I did lots of cleaning in the garage, sorting out cardboard and prepping what can be hauled away and what needs to be organized. I think it's rather la...

It's FRIDAY!!!
What is this that I have by the horns? I swear, one of the best things you can do, if you're like me and ever have those months-long-moments that detract from your forward progress on a project, is to sit down and clinically assess what has been done and what needs to be done. There's something about seeing everything spelled out in black and white that is really soothing.

Thursday Morning
My head is all over the place this morning. I've been coming up with all sorts of ludicrous plans - I should open an online New Age store, I should concentrate the lion's share of my energy on the visual arts, I should discover how animals become pet models and start hawking Ashley's likeness to anyone who needs images of a spoiled white kitty...

Rise and Shine, Rise and Shine, Rise and SHINE!

Last week, I went with the girls to Cold Springs, which is a place where we swim, although we didn't this time of course, and we saw these Lady Slipper orchids.
