March 28, 2014 (New York, New York) -- Tori Amos has revealed “ Trouble’s Lament ,” the first single from her forthcoming new studio album, Unrepentant Geraldines. Set for release in the U.S. on May 13th on Mercury Classics/Universal Music Classics, Unrepentant Geraldines is pop/rock in both content and feel, and one step further in the evolution of one of the most successful and influential artists of her generation.
“Trouble’s Lament” is an eerie Southern blues song in which Amos’s matchless voice conjures up images of how the “flames from Satan’s tongue are charged and licking at her heels…” “Having been born in North Carolina, the South walks with me wherever I am in the world,” says Amos. “I can’t get it out of my DNA. I don’t know if it’s a genetic thing, because my mother’s side, so far back, is from the Eastern Cherokee nation. So it’s really in the blood. It’s almost like you listen to the land speaking to you. And wherever I am I can hear the South calling me. I really like the idea that trouble was a young woman….I see her on my travels a lot. And maybe I knew her many years ago when I was in my twenties.”
Unrepentant Geraldines is a return to the inspiring and personal music that Amos is known for the world over. She explains, “After 2009 I walked into three records that are sort of a period of writing that was a different stylistic choice. I needed to walk away from contemporary songwriting. I needed to do something different as a writer.” But those three diverse album projects (Midwinter Graces, Night of Hunters, Gold Dust) followed by her first full-bore theatrical project (The Light Princess) alchemized something anew within. Out of the flux of ambition and distraction and imagination came Amos’ fourteenth studio album, Unrepentant Geraldines. It’s an album on which Amos once more zeroes in on the writing of brightly melodic, deftly evocative chamber-pop.

Best Coast shares new music video
BEST COAST SHARES NEW MUSIC VIDEO "BABY I'M CRYING" VIA DAZED
SHOWCASES UNIQUE BINAURAL RECORDING
WATCH: Best Coast - "Baby I'm Crying"https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=uFqGRBUbUeo&list=UUBJ1FUqJJD5JAXa1Qlnt5dw Best Coast has produced a music video that showcases LiveAudio's three-dimensional sound, available on Jambox. The song is "Baby I'm Crying" from Best Coast's Fade Away EP.
The live music video was directed by Ryan Reichenfeld and recorded "binaurally." This is a process utilizing microphones placed within a human dummy head for an immersive, 360 degree field of sound. The sensation is like being in the room during the performance. To experience this three-dimensional sound, listen on headphones or through a Jambox. More about LiveAudio here.
PRAISE FOR 'FADE AWAY'
"Lyrically introspective, musically tight and vocally resolute, Fade Away is Best Coast's best work to date." - Alternative Press
"It's just seven songs but still felt like a breakthrough." - Rolling Stone
"As Best Coast grow and mature, new layers of surprising depth are emerging. For an EP, this record is remarkably satisfying and fulfilling. It feels like an album." - ABC News
"Best Coast's Fade Away is a short, sweet burst of the effervescent sun-dappled pop-rock we've come to crave from Bethany Cosentino and Bobb Bruno." - Stereogum
"What's accomplished by Fade Away, released on Ms. Cosentino's new label, Jewel City, is balance. These love-battered songs, with chugging beats, strummy distortion and lyrics as bluish-black as a bruise, don't suggest a retrenchment so much as a realignment, as if Best Coast had absorbed its lessons and figured out what to leave behind." - New York Times

The Wytches go acoustic for an NPR Field Recording session
THE WYTCHES STRIP DOWN FOR AN NPR FIELD RECORDING SESSION
DEBUT LP OUT SUMMER 2014 TBA
WATCH: The Wytches' frontman Kristian Bell performing stripped down versions of "Wide at Midnight," "Crying Clown," and "All Of My Skin" in an Austin, TX backyard
via NPR or YouTube
"The Wytches' furious, hair-flinging psych-rock isn't the stuff of back-porch acoustic sessions: Both live and on the English band's singles, the energy is so intense, it can barely be contained," says NPR , yet somehow these acoustic versions work:They are raw, haunting, and melancholic, highlighting the lyrical depth of the songs and the unique vocals of frontman Kristian Bell. LISTEN: "Wire Frame Mattress" via Pitchfork or Soundcloud
WATCH: Official video for "Gravedweller" via YouTube
"Punky aggression amid the fuzz tone" -New York Times "A primordial blues-ooze that suggests Jack White if his music were actually as goth as his haircuts" - Pitchfork "The band recalls the gnarlier moments of '60s garage-punk a la the Nuggets compilation, and they've got the power and stage presence to pull it off." - SPIN (40 Best Things We Saw at SXSW) "Raw-throat punk, stoner/doom psych, and Bad Seeds swagger, with perhaps just the tiniest hint of Wicker Man folk" - Brooklyn Vegan (50 Artists We're Excited To See at SXSW)
"This is the kind of psych music that doesn't serve bowls of potpourri at dinner parties, instead taking surf rock, adding bilious riffs and pushing the drums down the stairs." - Noisey
Dark and driven, The Wytches consist of vocalist/guitarist Kristian Bell, bassist Dan Rumsey, and drummer Gianni Honey. Their unique sound full of echo and heavy riffs is a narcotic haze with influences ranging from Leonard Cohen to Black Sabbath.
Formed in November 2011 after moving down from Peterborough, this Brighton, UK based three piece is comprised of guitar / organ / lead vocalist Kristian; semi-professional poker playing / severe ADHD suffering drummer Gianni, and fiercely eloquent bassist Dan, who is currently writing a science fiction novel by the name of The Curious Adventures of Charlie Revel. The group gained a strong following in the UK from their debut single and self produced video "Digsaw," and have earned a certain notoriety ever since, thanks to their spellbinding live show that is known for its visceral intensity.
The Wytches have toured incessantly since their forming, which saw them supporting a rich variety of acts including Death Grips, The Black Angels, Band Of Skulls, Chelsea Wolfe, Bosnian Rainbows, Japandroids, Temples, Metz, Future Of The Left, The Cribs, Yuck and Drenge. They released their second single, the AA-side "Beehive Queen"/"Crying Clown," via Hate Hate Hate Records on June 3rd 2013, which sold out almost immediately. Following the success of Beehive Queen, the band re-released "Digsaw" as a limited white label 7". On November 18th, the band released a second AA side single, "Robe For Juda" / "Wide At Midnight" via HateHateHate records.
Look for a debut album out this summer, as well as forthcoming tour dates in North America.

Glass Animals share new track feat. Tei Shi
GLASS ANIMALS SHARE "HOLIEST (FEAT TEI SHI)" VIA VOGUE
GOOEY EP OUT APRIL 8 ON HARVEST RECORDS
LISTEN: Glass Animals - "Holiest (Feat. Tei Shi)"https://soundcloud.com/glassanimals/holiest-feat-tei-shi-1
Glass Animals have just announced the details of their debut full length, ZABA but today they share another cut from their forthcoming EP, Gooey which will be released April 8 via Harvest Records. "Holiest" features the beautiful Tei Shi on vocals.
Dave Bayley comments, "we wanted to work with Tei Shi because she has an amazing voice and this super-cool modern New York RnB style thing going on. So we sent her a couple beats we had lying around that we thought she could really add something to. And she sent back a great vocal about both loving and hating something. I thought it would be fun to play the character that she's addressing in my part so the the different voices then help tell the story from two different perspectives." As one of the first signings to Paul Epworth's Wolf Tone label in the UK, Glass Animals have polished their pulsing indie electronica-by-way-of-RnB under the production of the band's vocalist and writer Dave Bayley, and Epworth's guiding hand.
Having left the confines of their creative hub in the woodlands of Oxfordshire (referred to as The Shed), the band took up residence at Epworth's London studio in the Autumn of 2013. It's a move that has instantly developed their sound, merging their love of analogue with digital, and transforming their psych-fuzz into something a whole lot wilder.
Armed with a full LP to come in June, and a seriously impressive live set-up, Glass Animals are primed for a very exciting twelve months and beyond. The Gooey EP will be released digitally April 8th on Harvest Records.
Glass Animals are: Dave Bayley, Drew MacFarlane, Edmund Irwin-Singer, Joe Seaward.

Tiny Ruins Announces Sophomore Album

Photo Credit: Georgie CrawNew Zealand's Tiny Ruins is returning with a new album this spring, Brightly Painted One, which will be released on Flying Nun on May 13th. Tiny Ruins is the project of artist Hollie Fullbrook, who, since releasing her celebrated debut Some Were Meant for Sea in 2011, has spent the past 3 years writing and recording while touring the world solo, as a duo and with her band.
NPR premiered "The Ballad Of The Hanging Parcel" this week, with host Bob Boilen describing as "One of those things, you put it on, the cover's beautiful and there it is." You can check out dreamy track below. Click Here To Listen To "The Ballad Of The Hanging Parcel" On NPR's All Songs Considered
We were given the first reveal of the album on KCRW, who played the opening track "Me At The Museum You In The Winter Gardens" calling it "minimal yet haunting." Click Here To Listen To "Me At The Museum You In The Winter Gardens"
Tiny Ruins will be touring North America this summer, more information on those dates will be announced soon.Biography /Formed as a solo project in 2009 by songwriter Hollie Fullbrook, the band now includes bassist Cass Basil and drummer Alexander Freer. While continuing to be based in their native New Zealand, Tiny Ruins has spent much of the past three years touring throughout Australia, Europe & the US, opening for artists such as Beach House, Joanna Newsom, Fleet Foxes, Father John Misty, The Handsome Family and Calexico.Lyrically ambiguous and poignant, the songs roughly follow in the traditions of folk and blues that Fullbrook has drawn on in the past, engaging moods both hopeful and world-weary. Yet there is more of an expansive approach to this album - where debut Some Were Meant for Sea presented a host of characterful vignettes, Brightly Painted One follows a journey, cyclical and whole, with tones falling between dream pop and folk-blues.While still retaining a minimalist approach, this sophomore release is layered and shaped with an array of brass, percussion and strings. The arrangements are lush and fully-realized, with the warm fuzz of ham-mond and rhodes keyboards, subtle string parts and electric guitar jangles and thrums. Brightly Painted One was recorded with engineer Tom Healy over several months in an underground warren of passageways and small rooms known as 'The Lab', in Auckland, the band's hometown. The writing of these songs spans roughly three years, growing out of Fullbrook's varied life of touring, working when home, relationships and everyday observation. From the mountain walks of She'll Be Coming 'Round , the roof-tops of White Sheet Lightning and the street corners of Reasonable Man, the songs document the stasis and the movement of life; of persevering its humor and mystery.

"Her Ghost" is Woman's Hour's first release with their new label following a year which saw them become the 6th most blogged band of the year (6 Music & Hype Machine), receive praise from the likes of Pitchfork, The Fader and Huw Stephens, and support Volcano Choir at The Barbican in addition to their own nationwide headline shows. Placing the heart-wrenching vocals of Fiona Burgess against an intricate backdrop of expertly-crafted electronic textures, the new song finds its power through restraint with the band’s attention to the smallest of details reflected in the richness of the end result. At once achingly subtle and breathtakingly powerful in its melodic display, "Her Ghost" is testament to a band fully in command of their unique identity and sound. Woman's Hour are Fiona Burgess, William Burgess, Josh Hunnisett and Nicolas Graves.

"...other-worldly... ...ethereal..." - MTV
"...one of the pioneers of 2000s-style indie rock..." - Brooklyn Vegan
"A captivating, soul-stirring, powerful, glorious and slightly spooky group of pop tunes." - Gray Owl Point
"(Penner has a) knack for combining simple pop melodies with experimental digressions (and) can fit a whole lot of ideas into a two-minute song. Each tune packs a memorable punch." - Now Toronto
In support of his newly released, debut solo album titled "EXEGESIS," currently receiving critical praise around the world from the likes of NPR, the BBC and more, Canadian songwriter Alden Penner (best known for his time spent as singer / guitarist and founder of Montreal indie-pop band The Unicorns) is announcing a second upcoming New York performance, taking place April 28th at The Studio at Webster Hall with guests Poursand Nick Millevoi.
The newly announced date comes in addition to Penner's April 29th Brooklyn performance at Glasslands, where he'll be supported by SoftSpot, Vassals and Xander Duell (tickets for both shows available below).
About Alden Penner:
"It sounds like Alden Penner meets Sparks. The singing is so much fun and I love the atmospheres. The guitar work is so full of life and so full of fun. Lovely Legs is such a fun ride. A Beautiful Dream is wonderfully proud. The last section of Losing My Head makes me feel like I'm in a lake. Lost The Skin is perfect. Word feels like an ancient message being transported through time. Beauty of the Lamb is the most beautifully transcendent." - Michael Cera
Alden Penner is a songwriter and musician based in Montreal, Canada and founding member of critically acclaimed bands The Unicorns and Clues. His solo recordings and film scoring have been known, cherished and circulated by devoted fans and record labels since the early 2000s."
Penner has been involved in music since his early years growing up in rural Quebec taking piano and flute lessons. He continued with trumpet, percussion and bass guitar in school band after moving to B.C. at age 9, and eventually took up the electric guitar and singing. Some of his first bands started in Campbell River while attending high school and working events in a jazz ensemble with his geography teacher. Alden Penner and Nick Thorburn (Islands) formed the Unicorns out of high school. In 2003, after moving to Montreal, they recorded the widely celebrated "Who Will Cut Our Hair When We're Gone?"
Until now, his only formal releases as a solo artist have been a handful of limited-run singles and 2 EP's, with the most recent one being 2013's "Precession," 4 songs which received glowing reviews and are featured on his debut album "EXEGESIS."
Some of these songs were started almost a decade ago, a few recordings being initiated with Mark Lawson (Unicorns, Arcade Fire), but most were recorded at home with borrowed equipment and assembled piecemeal. They were brought to completion in late 2013 and early 2014 with the assistance of multimedia artist Laura Crapo, who co-produced the album along with Penner.

Whatever, who cares. All you need to know is that they’re back, baby." – NOISEY Track Premiere (March 20) “What You Isn’t” Q Magazine Track of The Day (March 24)
Brian Jonestown Massacre will release their 14th album, Revelation , on May 20, 2014through A Records (Redeye Distribution). Listen to “What You Isn’t” here:https://soundcloud.com/wastedyouthpr/brian-jonestown-massacre-what/s-qA0r2Encompassing all the weirdness that has been discovered in the past 40 years, Revelationadvances the traditional Brian Jonestown Massacre sound of mixing eastern influences with western rock. Two-dozen band members later and numerous “ups and downs” (some have been famously sensationalized in the media), the one thing that has always remained consistent for this psychedelic collective, is front man Mr. Anton Alfred Newcombe.
Recorded from late 2012-2014, Revelation is the first album that was fully recorded and produced at Anton’s recording studio in Berlin, Germany. Original band member, Ricky Maymi plays guitar on this album plus features a vocal performance in Swedish byJoachim Alhund (Les Big Byrd/Teddybears) on “Vad Hände Med Dem?” Other special guests include: Constatine Karlis (Dimmer) on drums, Ryan Van Kriedt (Asteroid #4) on guitar, and Anton plays the rest.
Anton also releases music by other bands through his A Records including: Les Big Byrd: The Worshipped Cats (May 20), Blue Angel Lounge: A Sea Of Trees (May 20),The KVB: Out of Body (June 3) who were recently named one of Alternative Press’ 100 Bands You Need To Know This Year.
Brian Jonestown Massacre are confirmed to headline Austin Psych Fest and select live dates on the West Coast in May. The band will then begin a 45-date tour of mainland Europe including the band’s first ever dates in Warsaw, Prague and Athens: http://www.brianjonestownmassacre.com/?news=euro-tour-2014
Anton explains why the album is named Revelation:“The simple answer is I love the word. Most of the time I would classify my work " śruti ," i.e. "what is heard" definition of the word “revelation.” But on this album and with these songs, there was nothing. No ideas and no guidance and I was still able to create the record for me. That was a revelation.”
