THE JIM JONES REVUE RELEASE 'COLLISION BOOGIE' SINGLE
THE JIM JONES REVUE 'COLLISION BOOGIE' SINGLE RELEASED APRIL 8TH
ONE OFF NEW YORK SHOW APRIL 19TH AT WEBSTER HALLIN CONJUNCTION WITH PAUL POPE'S 'ESCAPO' BOOK LAUNCH
WEST COAST DATES BEGIN APRIL 21ST IN VANCOUVER
The Jim Jones Revue return to the US/Canada next month, after a triumphant two week tour of the North East in January, which included a sold out New Year's Eve performance at Bowery Electric. The West Coast dates begin April 21st in Vancouver and to coincide with this, the band will be releasing the (previously unavailable in the US/ Canada) single, 'Collision Boogie' (b/w another new track, 'Mind Field'), on April 8th, available through ITunes from Punk Rock Blues Records.
The song continues the journey of sonic exploration that The JJR embarked on on their critically acclaimed album 'The Savage Heart'; this time starting in Jamaica and ending up in New Orleans……Jim Jones explains: "Collision Boogie is a sort of personal user's guide to some of the things that you might come crashing into in life. It was originally inspired from hearing a Jamaican dancehall track blaring out of a car in East London; but by the time we had an arrangement together, it ended up with more of a New Orleans flavor."
Watch the video for 'Collision Boogie' here
Both tracks were produced and mixed by Jim Sclavunos (Grinderman/Nick Cave & The Bad Seeds), recorded at The Chapel in Lincolnshire and mixed at Edwyn Collins’s West Heath Yard Studios in London. The video was directed by the late Roger Pomphrey, ('Who The Fuck is Pete Doherty?'), and shot on location in London, the video revolves around a 'New Orleans Voodoo Dancehall' party the band threw, with a cast made up of various friends, associates and accomplices in an East-meets-West London showdown.
Notorious for their frenzied, no-holds-barred, high-energy shows, the Jim Jones Revue are regarded as one of the best live acts on the planet.APRIL DATES:

HTRK Stream "Psychic 9-5 Club" LP; Out April 1

HTRK stream Psychic 9-5 Club LP at DazedHTRK Psychic 9-5 Club
[STREAM via Dazed / Soundcloud]
Release date: April 1, 2014HTRK's sophomore Work (Work, Work) Vinyl re-press available nowAfter being out of print for a number of years, Work (Work, Work) is available again after an initial pressing of 500 copies in North America only. It has now been expanded to a worldwide release on vinyl. Purchase link here.Psychic 9-5 Club marks the beginning of a new chapter for HTRK. It's an album that looks back on a time of sadness and struggle, and within that struggle they find hope and humour and love. It's Jonnine Standish and Nigel Yang's first album recorded entirely as a duo—former band member Sean Stewart died halfway through the recording of their last LP, 2011's Work (Work Work).
Though the record is instantly recognisable as HTRK—Standish's vocal delivery remains central to the band's sound, while the productions are typically lean and dubby—they've found ample room for exploration within this framework. Gone are the reverb-soaked guitar explorations of 2009's Marry Me Tonight and the fuzzy growls that ran through Work (Work Work). They've been replaced with something tender, velvety and polished. This is HTRK, but the flesh has been stripped from their sound, throwing the focus on naked arrangements and minimalist sound design. The album was recorded at Blazer Sound Studios in New Mexico with Excepter's Nathan Corbin, who had previously directed the video clip for Work (Work, Work) cut "Bendin." Inviting a third party into their world was no easy decision, but in Corbin they found a kindred spirit. The LP was then refined and reworked in Australia at the turn of 2013, before the finishing touches were applied in New York during the summer.
Of all the themes that run through Psychic 9-5 Club, love is the most central. The word is laced throughout the album in lyrics and titles—love as a distraction, loving yourself, loving others. Standish's lyrics explore the complexities of sexuality and the body's reaction to personal loss, though there's room for wry humour—a constant through much of the best experimental Australian music of the past few decades.Standish explores her vocal range fully—her husky spoken-word drawl remains, but we also hear her laugh and sing. Equally, Yang's exploratory production techniques—particularly his well-documented love of dub—are given room to shine. They dip headlong into some of the things that make humans tick—love, loss and desire—with the kind of integrity that has marked the band out from day one. Psychic 9-5 Club is truly an album for the body and for the soul.

THE FAINT DOOM ABUSE Out April 8 On SQE Music
THE FAINT DOOM ABUSE Out April 8 On SQE Music Limited Edition Double LP Out NowSpring Tour Dates Announced
Listen: "Dress Code" via Stereogum or SoundCloud Watch: "Help In The Head" video via Pitchfork or YouTube
THE FAINT will return this spring with their sixth album, DOOM ABUSE out April 8 via SQE Music. Stereogum premiered "Dress Code" from DOOM ABUSE and last month Pitchfork premiered the video for the album's lead off track "Help In The Head" which was directed by Tim Nackashi (Maroon 5, One Republic). DOOM ABUSE Deluxe Double LP, limited to 500 copies, is available now at select indie stores and Insound. DOOM ABUSE standard LP and CD can be pre-ordered in the SQE online store. Additionally the album is available for pre-order now at iTunes. Fans that pre-order DOOM ABUSE through iTunes will receive 5 downloadable tracks instantly. THE FAINT will embark on a national headlining tour that will kick off on April 24th in Des Moines at Wooly's and continue onto major markets including Atlanta, Philadelphia, Boston, New York, Washington D.C., Chicago, Portland, Seattle, San Francisco and Los Angeles. The tour will conclude on June 13th in the band's hometown of Omaha at the Sokol Auditorium. To understand DOOM ABUSE and its raw, visceral aesthetic you have to understand its birth story. You have to understand that after touring for a year on their 2008 self-released album Fasciinatiion, an album that took several years to write and produce, THE FAINT ceased to exist. The musicians were burned out, uninspired and could no longer find the most important element of any musical creation: fun. They went their separate ways, pursued other sorts of music in other projects, sometimes together and sometimes separately, and learned new ways of channeling sound. They remembered what drove their songwriting in the first place. Then, in the spring of 2013, THE FAINT existed again. Anxious to make new music the band recorded a 4-song white label 12" they referred to as "Preversions." That music, primal and punk rock in its approach became the unplanned blueprint for DOOM ABUSE.
The band booked time with longtime collaborator Mike Mogis to mix the album before even really having songs written. There was no specific concept, just a sense of wanting to capture moments of real passion and invigorated glee. Whatever came out while writing in the band's Omaha studio and rehearsal space would become their next album. Since much of Fasciinatiion was made sitting behind computers, the musicians wanted to embrace a live sensibility and collective rawness. A lot of the record was created live in the room, with first takes and first ideas taking precedent.
The entire album took only about three months to create. It reflects specific experiences from a specific time and sounds unlike anything else. And in its final iteration, you can see the patterns inDOOME ABUSE's songs. The ideas and themes become clear. For Todd Fink, many of the album's lyrics were created automatically in a stream of consciousness. In the moment he didn't know that he was centered on certain lyrical obsessions, mostly connected to the human brain and its functions.
The music, too, connects. From boisterous, static-laced opener "Help In The Head" to propulsive aggressor "Evil Voices" to ambient and layered closer "Damage Control," the album explores different variations of THE FAINT as a live rock band. Their history as an innovative dance act lingers, years of obsession with crafting a new style for the dance floor seeping into each song, but here and now, the band wanted to make songs that capture the sheer power and collaborative nature of their onstage performances. The songs differ and balance each other out but all share the same space and overarching tone, another pattern seen after the fact.
The birth of DOOM ABUSE in many ways, is in parallel with a rebirth of the band itself. THE FAINT, started in Omaha in the mid-'90s, have always created against the grain, disinterested in making anything except what their own inspiration drives them to make. Each album since their 1998 debut Media has shifted and evolved that desire. Some albums, like 1999's Blank-Wave Arcade, came from urgent, short recording processes while others, like 2004's Wet From Birth, were more carefully constructed. The musicians themselves are the constant, together embracing a style that is truly unlike every other band out there. While DOOM ABUSE harkens back to Blank-Wave Arcade'simmediacy in some ways, it opens a new door. Inside is exactly where THE FAINT want to be now.

NEW YORK, NY (March 26, 2014) - Noisey today presents the latest episode of Noisey Meets, featuring Bret Easton Ellis. In the episode, Noisey speaks with the lauded novelist and screenwriter about his influences and artistic process.

Earlier this month, Noisey was proud to present the Dum Dum Girls' critically acclaimed video for their single "Are You Okay?" in conjunction with Sub Pop, VICE, and MOCAtv. The video wasn't so much a pop promo as it was an unsettling and darkly cinematic short film written by Bret Easton Ellis. In the latest episode of Noisey Meets, we sit down with the artist to talk about what attracted him to the project and why he took an "illogical" approach.

Hozier Announces Headlining US Tour Dates in May
Follows Sold-Out LA and NY Shows and SXSW Showcases on Initial US Trip

“Irish singer Hozier is poised for a big year.” – KCRW’s Morning Becomes Eclectic
“[Hozier’s] stirring, choral-meets-gospel-folk sound has been steadily converting more and more listeners.” – MTV Buzzworthy
"Rich, soulful, and accompanied by a slight rasp… his Hype Hotel set proved there’s more to [Hozier] than just a viral headline.” – Consequence of Sound
(New York, NY – March 26, 2014) Fresh off a series of incredible SXSW performances and sold out shows in NYC and LA on his first US trip, Irish musician Hozier will return to the US in May for a series of festival and headlining tour dates. Hozier will start off at the Sweetlife Festival in Maryland on May 10 before embarking on a headlining run starting at Bowery Ballroom in NYC before hitting Boston, Toronto, LA, and San Francisco and finally wrapping up at the Sasquatch! Festival. A full list of confirmed dates is below.
After releasing an introductory Take Me To Church EP late last year, Hozier has released another 4-song EP to tide fans over as he completes work on his forthcoming full length, due later this year. His latest From Eden EPis available to stream now exclusively on Spotify and features songs already part of Hozier’s live set, including the title track, which was selected for the coveted Hottest Record spotlight by UK tastemaker Zane Lowe on his Radio 1 program, as well as “Work Song,” “Arsonist’s Lullaby,” and “To Be Alone.” Recording for both EPs began in what Hozier calls “the grey, pretty boring attic” at the top of the house where he lives, before overdubs and mixing in Dublin, with producer Rob Kirwan (U2, Depeche Mode, Glasvegas, Ray Lamontagne) at the controls.
Born in County Wicklow on St Patrick’s Day, 24-year-old Andrew Hozier-Byrne gained worldwide attention nearly overnight when he posted the video for his song “Take Me To Church” under the moniker Hozier in late September. The gripping black and white video, directed by Brendan Canty, highlights the turbulent plight of the LGBT community in Russia via the story of two gay men targeted by a homophobic gang. The powerful video brings life to the emotional song, which touches on the influence of religion on humanity. While in the US this month Hozier spoke with New York Magazine and Mother Jones about the moving video and the song’s message.
The “Take Me To Church” video has quickly racked up millions of views on YouTube, and the track has been a fixture on Spotify’s Most Viral charts, regularly appearing in the Top 10 in the US and the UK, and Spotify also selected Hozier as one of their Spotlight Artists to Watch 2014. “Take Me To Church” also hit #1 on Hype Machine’s Most Popular chart, and has also been hovering on the top of Ireland’s singles chart. The song is currently in the Top 20 on Mediabase’s Triple A radio chart, with early support from Philadelphia’s WXPN, who selected “Take Me To Church” as their Gotta Hear Song of the Week and My Morning Download, Sirius XM, and Los Angeles’ KCRW, who called him one of their Bands to Bank On for 2014 and also had him record a session on their Morning Becomes Eclectic program.
Hozier has been playing to packed rooms in Ireland, and his first London show sold out in minutes, underscoring the phenomenon that has emerged in such a short time. In the UK he’s gotten great radio support on tastemaker shows on Radio 1, 6 Music, and XFM, and he was featured in the Sunday Times Culture's “Breaking Artist” section. In addition to the upcoming US tour dates, Hozier will also be performing at Dublin’s Longitude festival in July and Reading & Leeds in August.
