Winter fell,” the hauntingly beautiful second offspring of  Walking Shapes ’ visual album Taka Come On , premieres with Village Voice today. The video reflects the state of emotional flux, feeling overwhelmed and is depicted by two masked dancers in a confined space.

“The song ‘Winter fell’ came about during a ‘polar vortex,’” singer Nathaniel Hoho tells Village Voice, who deems the tune “much warmer than its subject matter.” It’s a song about being forced to take a break, reflecting and coming to terms with one’s inner demons, while simultaneously embracing the good things and people in life.

Heralded by publications such as SPIN and Earmilk, Walking Shapes was formed by way of mountains, and through the tides of the city. Their fierce and eclectic debut Taka Come On channels their love to their home New York City. Featuring Nathaniel Hoho on vocals and guitar; Jesse Kotansky on guitar, violin, vocals ; Jake Generalli on keys, vocals; Dan Krysa on bass and vocals; and Christopher Heinz on drums, Walking Shapes meld driving guitars, intricate arrangements and visually evocative songwriting into stunning audio refractions on New York’s sonic landscape.

“…some Grizzly Bear harmonies, spindly Beach House guitar figures, and Tame Impala psych wiggles. More overtly "pop" than its predecessor without leaning on pop signifiers…the song's a luxurious thing that makes forward progress seem pretty effortless.” - Pitchfork

Tonight, Incan Abraham celebrate their upcoming Tolerance album release at Bootleg Theater (tickets HERE). You can hear the full album, exclusively premiered early on Spotify HERE and Red Bull just premiered the music video for "Concorde" HERE.

Friends since kindergarten, the members of Incan Abraham (Giuliano Pizzulo, Teddy Cafaro, Spencer Mandel) channel their finger-painted past in their debut LP, fusing Lost Boys tribal energy with guitar, synth, and harmony vocal soundscapes that arc and circle like bikes in desert washes. After spending college marooned on opposite coasts, the friends reunited on a whim in a secluded house in upstate New York for a weekend that turned into a month spent writing music and contemplating their shared histories of childhood escapism and pop nostalgia.

Returning to their native Los Angeles, they seasoned their sound in the arid air and eclectic east side music scene, until a fateful encounter with their producer-to-be and sonic sherpa Lewis Pesacov (Best Coast, FIDLAR, Fool's Gold).  The resulting album Tolerance  will be released on April 8th on White Iris Records.

Pitchfork exclusively premiered their single “Concorde”, which you can hear and shareHERE. Now, after hyped performances at festivals (SXSW, CMJ, and Desert Daze) and three critically acclaimed EPs (Springhouse, JAXart 2012), the foursome will perform at their album release party on April 2nd at Los Angeles' Bootleg Theater.

Clap Your Hands Say Yeah Announce New Record

CLAP YOUR HANDS SAY YEAH TO RELEASE NEW RECORD,ONLY RUN, JUNE 3
PITCHFORK PREMIERES FIRST TRACK, "COMING DOWN"
PRE-ORDER ONLY RUN HERE

Clap Your Hands Say Yeah have announced the release of its new record, Only Run, on June 3. Yesterday, Pitchfork premiered Only Run's first track, "Coming Down." Only Run, like the band's first three records, will be marketed and distributed directly and independently by them. While this ethos initially struck a chord with fans when the band started, it was always truly an extension of lead singer/songwriter Alec Ounsworth's core belief: "The general rule is to be appreciative of your audience," he recently told Fast Company magazine.  "If you can organize and are motivated, you should approach fans directly."
So now, 10 years after the starting the band, while much has changed for Clap Your Hands Say Yeah, many things aren't so different. For instance, Ounsworth has spent all of 2014 thus far crisscrossing the United States playing living room shows. He still needs that direct connection with fans; it validates his vision of how art should work and confirms his belief in the music.
Before taking to the road, Ounsworth poured himself into the making of Only Run. Like the band's fateful first album, it's an artist's singular vision. Once again, Ounsworth crafted the songs himself before bringing them to the studio for completion and the album is further proof that CYHSY thrives because of a strong sense of identity. Fostered from his love of uncompromising songwriters (e.g. John Cale, Bob Dylan, Lou Reed, Tom Waits), Ounsworth believes in an artist's creative control. "Some people seem surprised when you shift gears aesthetically between records, but to me that's the point," he says. "We have a responsibility as musicians to take chances." Ounsworth continues, "There is a reason I have all of Tom Waits' albums, for example.  I believe in him."
Only Run aims to loosely document Ounsworth's observations of his life in music over the last 10 years.  "Lately, I've been assaulted by news, both distant and near, that suggests a certain sense of frustration," he says. "But Clap Your Hands Say Yeah-the entire concept of the band, the name itself-is about balancing optimism in the face of overwhelming odds.  I'm coming around to this myself -- finding that renewed sense of optimism."
Pre-order Only Run here.

Peter Hook & The Light North America Tour November 2014

“This is New Order reinvigorated, reenergized; Hooky has arguably reclaimed the songs and is delivering them with heart and soul." - Louder Than War
“Not only did Hooky and his band open the show with Joy Division songs, he proceeded to play New Order’s two full albums and a stellar encore. The real treat of the night was hearing New Order songs that have probably never been played” live or fans have never ever heard live....Hooky and his band really put 110% into this show.” - LA Record
*Peter Hook & The Light are to perform New Order’s third and fourth albums, “Low Life” and Brotherhood” for the first time in the United States and Canada with seventeen live dates across November 2014
The tour is the The Light’s fourth of North America following two very well received Joy Division album tours of “Unknown Pleasures” and “Closer” and their equally praised tour of New Order’s “Movement” and “Power, Corruption & Lies” in September 2013.
Since the announcement in early March 2014, three new dates have been added to the schedule at the end of the tour in CaliforniaHooky And The Light are set to perform New Order’s first two albums “Movement” and “Power, Corruption & Lies” with El Ten Eleven supporting at The Glasshouse in Pomona, Monday 24thNovember, both Joy Division albums “Unknown Pleasures” and “Closer” with special guests to be announced atThe RoxyLos AngelesTuesday 25th November before ending the tour with the final “Low Life” and “Brotherhood” show at House Of Blues, San DiegoWednesday 26th November.
All of the “Low Life” / “Brotherhood” concerts will include the singles and B-sides from New Order’s most prolific period. From August 1983 up to 1987, taking the audience from “Confusion” to “True Faith”, with both “Low Life” and “Brotherhood” performed in full alongside all the other tracks from that fans consider New Order’s greatest period including “Thieves Like Us” “Bizarre Love Triangle”, “The Perfect Kiss” and many more.
Aside from the Los Angeles’ Roxy date and the Pomona Glasshouse Date, The Light will also be supporting themselves at the concerts performing a selection of Joy Division material prior to the album performances.
Having released “Blue Monday” and “Temptation”, by this period, New Order had grown in confidence and attained increasing success in the UK and internationally. Praised for their creativity, boundary pushing and consistent touring, the albums saw the group finding their niche and signature sound, fusing their rock, indie style with new emerging electronic equipment and bringing melody and emotion to their techno experiments. Both the singles and the albums for this period stand out as some of the finest work ever produced by the band.
Marking the high period of New Order artistically, the critical plaudits heaped upon “Power, Corruption & Lies” was followed by similar notices for “Low-Life” and “Brotherhood”, considered as a trio, the band’s greatest albums which were achieved through a period of intense hard work which brought significant results and advancements. Having raised their profile with “Blue Monday”, still the biggest ever selling 12” in history, the band continued to define their status with their diffident attitude to promotion, Peter Saville’s iconic design and their disregard of mid Eighties video culture and the MTV generation.
“Brotherhood” itself took a unique approach, splitting the rock side of the band to the first side of the album, with tracks “Paradise”, “As It Is When It Was” and “Way Of Life”, whereas the flips side was electronic, taking in the two singles and also “Every Second Counts”, a finely tuned electronic ballad regarded as the counterpoint to “Leave Me Alone
With The Light’s concerts running up to 1987, New Order enjoyed their biggest international hit “True Faith”. Some seven years after the demise of Joy Division and a decade on from first forming, the band had come full circle to hit heights never thought possible, showing that “Dreams Never End”.
With a set list so full of classic records and fans favourites, many never heard for some twenty five years or more, this music defined the times and still sounds current today.
Peter Hook & The Light’s “Lowlife” & “Brotherhood” concerts chart New Order’s final stage of evolution from the post punk of Joy Division to defining themselves as electro pop pioneers at the cutting edge of the emerging club scene in the mid to late Eighties.

Kim Deal recently revealed the fourth installment of her new solo series on 7" vinyl. The new single out today, features "The Root" and "Range on Castle" co-written by Deal and Nagler. Version 1 will feature artwork by Vaughan Oliver (official release) while Version 2 will be a strictly limited [1000 copies] white label edition. The tracks are also available digitally via iTunes and all major digital outlets.  Brooklyn Vegan  premiered the lyric video for "The Root" directed by MORGAN'S BROTHER which is also available to post and share at YouTube.
After running into fellow musician and friend Morgan Nagler in the driveway of a recording studio in Los Angeles, Kim Deal was inspired to make music.
"Listening to the demo she gave me I was reminded of how much I love her voice," Deal says. "I asked her to come over and play music with me."
For the creative duo many hours would be spent in great collaboration.
Deal played most of the instruments and sings lead on "The Root" while Nagler's voice effortlessly guides "Range on Castle."
"We took turns singing, rewriting words in magic markers and connecting and re-routing the colorful snakes and cables," Nagler says.
While Deal played, Nagler recalls pressing the Record, Stop, Play and RTZ buttons on various tape machines.
"I think the tracks sound cool," Deal says. "We knew we needed to put them out as one of the 7"s in the Kim Deal Solo Series."

The Mountain Goats announce "Twin Inhuman Highway Fiends Tour"

In June, The Mountain Goats will descend upon the west coast in their duo formation of John Darnielle and Peter Hughes, affectionally named The Mountain Goats Twin Inhuman Highway Fiends Tour 2014.
John on the duo dates:Last year Peter and I did a couple of duo tours: the U.S. one took us as far west as Chicago, and the European one went all the way out to Barcelona. We don't really get a chance to do the duo thing much any more. It is a blast, and it gets us into all-ages rooms, and we get around to a bunch of  songs that've been lurking in shadowy corners for ages waiting for the bright fuel of the footlights. I would like, therefore, to alert the west coast, my old stomping grounds, that we are stomping your way duo-style for the first time since 2007, and that all the shows are all-ages, and that if the all-ages duo tour from last summer is any indicator, it is going to be a huge party.
The Mountain Goats also have several solo dates this month in the northeast, and the full band will regroup for the Merge 25 Festival in July.
