NOISEY
"Local LA-based brother-sister duo XYLØ have made some noise over the past year with a handful of moody electro-pop tunes..." - KCRW
"The haunting vocals are strong yet not overpowering and every aspect of the well timed production elements added to the track feed into a storm of dark and melancholy energy which drips heartache." - Earmilk "They blur lines between jittery, forward-thinking electropop like Purity Ring or BROODS, and the grandiose Hollywood dramatics of Lana Del Rey." - The Line of Best Fit "Chase Duddy's subtly-gritty production style sprinkled with bright samples of Paige's soft and honest vocals is an approach to music that couldn't possibly fail." - The New LoFi

Lily & Madeleine's new album "Keep It Together" out today, nationwide tour confirmed
LILY & MADELEINE’S KEEP IT TOGETHER OUT TODAY ON NEW WEST RECORDS
NATIONWIDE TOUR CONFIRMED [image error]
Lily & Madeleine’s anticipated new full-length album, Keep It Together , is out today on New West Records (iTunes).
This is the third full-length album from the acclaimed sister duo and is already receiving widespread critical acclaim:
“Lily and Madeleine have been gifted with ‘blood harmony’; their voices were born at home together, share familial characteristics, and lock in perfectly with one another, sounding rich and effortless.”— Baeble Music
“…a musical dreamscape.”— Entertainment Weekly
“…a more dynamic and mature sound…”— Indianapolis Star
“…pure beauty…The harmonies from these Indiana-based sisters have always been outstanding. But now on their third album, Keep It Together, Lily and Madeleine have added more texture to their songs.”— NPR Music
“…melding harmonies in that special way only simpatico siblings can.”— Paste Magazine
“Lily and Madeleine have been craving a change: Their new album…is built from the desire to be taken seriously and the knowledge that comes with becoming an adult in the world.”
— Rookie Magazine
“Lily & Madeleine prove there’s still beauty in the world, and that sisterly love, coupled naturally with evolving talent, can make for an impassively powerful album.”— Under the Radar
In celebration of the release, the sisters will embark on a U.S tour this March, which includes shows at New York’s Joe’s Pub, Nashville’s The High Watt and L.A.’s The Troubadour. See below for complete tour dates.
Recorded at home in Bloomington, Ind. with producer Paul Mahern, who also helmed Lily & Madeleine’s lauded debut and sophomore albums, the 10-song record features the help of friends and touring band members Shannon Hayden (cello, mandolin, guitar, Moog) and Kate Siefker (drums, percussion, guitar, bass).
Of the project, Madeleine comments, “Working with a closer knit team of just four ladies helped tighten our sound and unify each track into a complete collection. The title of the album is a lyric from the first track ‘Not Gonna,’ which Lily wrote. This simple phrase has a lot of meaning to us: keep your shit together, keep our relationship as sisters together, pressure to keep our image a certain way as young ladies.”
Lily adds, “Along with reflecting on the personal bonds that Madeleine and I both have, I also really wanted to focus more on the bigger picture and write about the experience of being a white woman in America and a collegeage kid in the 21st century. As I attempt to further discover who I am as an individual, the way society wants me to define myself is becoming clearer. It seems to me that young people are the same everywhere: regardless of race, gender, or socioeconomic class. All young adults are in the same boat, trying to figure out what makes us individuals and trying to find our value in society.”
The new recording comes on the heels of the prolific duo’s highly-regarded sophomore release, Fumes, and is the their third full-length album in three years, following an EP and two LPs on Sufjan Stevens’ label Asthmatic Kitty. Of their last effort ELLE Magazine asserted, “...the twosome, known for their pinpoint harmonies and vocal precision, had no reservations about flipping the script this go-round: They amped up the production and gave their new album…a far more bombastic sound,” while NPR Music praised, “Fumes is a misleading record, the way a masterfully performed dance is misleading: It looks easy only because the complexities behind it are unfathomable to outsiders. There’s a borderlessness to Lily & Madeleine that leans from seamlessly natural to mesmerizingly preternatural, hinting at deeper forces at work than skill and practice.” Since their debut in 2013, the duo has performed on CBS’ “This Morning,” KCRW’s “Morning Becomes Eclectic,” NPR Music’s “Tiny Desk Concert” series and “A Prairie Home Companion.” Keep It Together track-listing

Tickets sales for April and May will be announced in the coming weeks. For more details on the Installation Shows, see below.Beach House’s 2016 North American and European tour schedule resumes Monday, February 29th in Cleveland at House of Blues and has been extended through August 12th-13th at Eaux Claires Music Festival in Eau Claire, Wisconsin. New highlights include: London’s Field Day June 12th; Pitchfork Music Festival in Chicago July 15th-17th; Pickathon in Happy Valley, Oregon August 5th-7th. Depression Cherry (released Aug. 28, 2015) is the second consecutive top 10 album for Beach House, coming in at #8 on the Billboard Top 200 chart, and spent 5 weeks at #1 on the CMJ Top 200. Thank Your Lucky Stars (released October 16th, 2015) entered at #38 on the Billboard Top 200 chart and peaked at #5 on the CMJ Top 200 chart.Beach House’s Thank Your Lucky Stars and Depression Cherry were recorded during the same two-month span, and produced by the band and Chris Coady at Studio in the Country in Bogalusa, Louisiana. Both albums are available now in North America from Sub Pop, in Europe from Bella Union and in Australia from Mistletone.MORE FROM BEACH HOUSE ON THE INSTALLATION SHOWS: PLEASE READ BEFORE PURCHASING A TICKET
We are very excited to announce a series of performances interspersed throughout our North American spring tours. They will be taking place in galleries, art spaces, community centers, and various other alternative venues. Here are the cities and dates:March 2nd - Chicago April 10th - Austin
March 4th - Toronto April 21st - Los Angeles
March 8th - Montreal April 26th - San Francisco
March 12th - Boston April 29th - Portland
March 20th - Philadelphia May 1st - Vancouver
March 22nd - New York May 3rd - Seattle
March 23rd - New York
March 24th - Baltimore WHAT TO EXPECT
We are going to install a design we have created and play as a two-piece within this “installation." The performance will be continuous without breaks. Due to the lack of stages, the audience will be expected to sit on the floor (bring a pillow!). The show will feature songs mostly from Thank Your Lucky Stars, Devotion and our self titled record (songs we can play as a two piece). This is by no means a "stripped down" or intentionally intimate performance. The design requires a maximum audience of 200, so that all can see the performance space. THE CONCEPT
It has always been difficult to carry the initial moments of creativity that inspire our music through the process of making and releasing a record. There are many chances along the way for the feeling to get lost. A lot of “bedroom” bands experience this when they get to the studio or the stage. This installation performance is an attempt to elicit this pure, embryonic state of mind for ourselves and our audience.
A NOTE ON TICKET PRICES
The ticket costs for these alternative-space performances are much higher than our normal shows. This is due to the very high production costs and low ticket number. The ticket price is set as low as possible in order to cover our costs and not lose money on the show. We sincerely apologize if it’s unaffordable for any fans who may want to attend.

“In 1999, two Seattle-based rock bands broke up. Their members were frustrated and disillusioned with the creative limitations and ethical complications that came from mixing art, commerce, and sincere religious devotion. The members of these two bands decided to undertake an experiment together. They would start a new band—one that was angry, sarcastic, vulgar, and aggressively antisocial. They would perform in Neo-Fascist uniforms. Their wives and girlfriends would dress up as battered domestic abuse victims while carrying giant pictures of AK-47s. They would feature go-go dancers and male strippers on stage and a performance artist who gorges himself on bananas until puking them into a fishbowl. And their published manifesto would declare that this was ‘the music that would usher in the apocalypse—RECONSTRUCTION! AMEN!’ They called themselves Raft of Dead Monkeys.”
THE COMPLETE HISTORY OF SEATTLE is an experimental take on the tired rockumentary genre. In it, the Raft of Dead Monkeys story is mixed with personal and surreal digressions that explore the larger social/artistic/religious implications of the band within its specific historical context of the City of Seattle at the turn of the millennium — including the part they played in the founding of Mars Hill Church, one of the biggest and most controversial mega-churches in America. For more information from filmmaker Nick Toti about the official and unreleased works of Raft of Dead Monkeys, including the introductory DBM EP (1999), Joey The Pigfucker (2000), and Thoroughlev (2001), history and assessment can be found here, at Nick’s blog:http://www.interestingproductions.org/blog/2016/2/20/raft-of-dead-monkeys-an-introduction

Sam Beam and Jesca Hoop on the album Love Letter for Fire
Watch: Sam Beam and Jesca Hoop on the album Love Letter for Fire
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=AifcPhNqMB8
Sam Beam (of Iron & Wine) and Jesca Hoop present the story behind Love Letter For Fire via a short film. The two discuss the process of how their collaborative album came to fruition and how two people not in love wrote an entire album of love songs. The clip also features exclusive performances of the two in a stripped down and intimate setting [link here].
Love Letter for Fire will be available on CD / LP / DL / CASS worldwide April 15th through Sub Pop/Black Crickett Recording Co. The thirteen-track album features the single “Every Songbird Says” and was produced, recorded and mixed by Tucker Martine (Modest Mouse, Decemberists, Neko Case) at Flora Recording & Playback in Portland, and mastered by Richard Dodd in Nashville.
Love Letter for Fire features Beam and Hoop on vocals and guitar along with Robert Burger (keys), Eyvind Kang (violin, viola), Glenn Kotche (drums, percussion), Sebastian Steinberg (bass) and Edward Rankin-Parker (cello). Love Letter for Fire is available for preorder at Sub Pop Mega Mart, iTunes, Amazon, Google Play, and Bandcamp. LP preorders through megamart.subpop.com will receive the limited Loser edition on Smoke-colored vinyl (while supplies last).Sam Beam and Jesca Hoop have scheduled a North American tour in support Love Letter for Fire, which begins Tuesday, May 17th in Ann Arbor, MI at The Ark and ends Saturday, June 11th in Chicago, IL at Thalia Hall. Please find a complete list of tour dates below.More on Love Letter for Fire:
The inspiration behind Love Letter for Fire was Sam’s love of classic duets, most of which are ones he grew up hearing on the radio. “Some of my favorite songs are duets, because the narrative is expanded. It’s not just a monologue. It’s a conversation, and so it gets complicated. I had melodies over the years that I’d been compiling that I thought, this sounds like a classic Kenny and Dolly, ‘Islands in the Stream’ kind of thing, or George and Tammy”. While the record itself is not Countrypolitan in nature, the two have carved out something that feels wholly original and should have no trouble appealing to fans of their previous work.
Over the course of thirteen songs Love Letter for Fire brims with a joyful energy, contrasting Beam and Hoop’s songwriting styles yet never feeling forced, nor pandering. Veering from disparate pop (“Every Songbird Says” / “Chalk It Up To Chi”) to introspective folk (“One Way to Pray” / “Soft Place to Land”) to a few things in between (“Welcome to Feeling” / “Midas Tongue”), the record never rests solely on just the two voices but rather showcases the new chapter of songwriting each found in the collaboration. Beam notes: “(Jesca) brought a lot of energy and a lot of heart in places where I would be cerebral, she would bring heart. In places where I would be steady, she would add an exclamation point.” Recorded in Portland, Oregon with the steady hand of Tucker Martine, the album features a collection of handpicked musicians. The band includes Rob Burger, a frequent Iron & Wine contributor, Sebastian Steinberg (Soul Coughing, Fiona Apple), Teddy Rankin-Parker (Primus), Eyvind Kang (Decemberists/Tzadik and Ipecac labels) and Glenn Kotche (Wilco). This particular set of musicians had never worked together, but quickly found themselves on equal footing. For Beam it was a bit of a dream team: “It was a really fun band, and a lot less guitar than I usually have on my [Iron & Wine] records. Tucker and the band were able to help bring out what’s inside of you that you might not know is there (read more at Sub Pop).” Tour Dates
