Today, Philadelphia’s Hop Along and Boston’s Speedy Ortiz announce a national co-headline tour throughout May as well as festival appearances at Waking Windows, Shaky Knees and Sasquatch!. The bands will be swapping performance slots every night of the tour which kicks off May 6th at Waking Windows Festival and wraps up May 27-29 at Sasquatch!. The combination of these bands, both known for their devastating and raw live shows, will be a force to be reckoned with.Speedy Ortiz’  Foil Deer , released last April via Carpark Records, lends a more polished sound and a pop sensibility that stands out to long time fans and new converts alike. Fronted by Sadie Dupuis, who  NPR  called “One of rock’s most compelling young voices....masterful” and including Mike Falcone on drums, Darl Ferm on bass, and Devin McKnight of Grass is Green on guitar, the group have spent the last year on an almost endless cross-continental touring jag, tagging along with the likes of The Breeders, Stephen Malkmus & the Jicks, and Thurston Moore. The record, full of lyrical complexity, guitar-based excursions and light-footed fun,  gained overwhelming recognition from the likes of Rolling StoneThe New York Times, PitchforkSPIN, and many many more. Purchase via CarparkiTunesAmazon or your local record store.Hop Along have been making waves since the release of their sophomore album  Painted Shut  last year on Saddle Creek. Featuring Frances Quinlan on vocals and guitar, Mark Quinlan on drums, Tyler Long on bass and Joe Reinhart on guitar, the album debuted at #7 on Alternative New Artist Albums#10 on Top New Artist Album Chart and saw the band featured as a staple on the year-end “Best of 2015” lists with Rolling StoneNPR,PitchforkSPINVultureUSA TodayNoiseyMTVEntertainment Weekly, and more. Captivating stories of desperation and weary awakening are highlighted by fuzzed out grunge guitar riffs and Quinlan’s trademark howl—“a prickly, unfettered masterpiece” (Stereogum). The record is available at the Saddle Creek Online Store, iTunes, Amazon and independent record stores across the globe.

Fat White Family Updated North American Tour Dates w/ Gateway Drugs, Dilly Dally

Updated Fat White Family North American tour dates
(with Gateway Drugs, Dilly Dally)

'Songs For Our Mothers' out now via Without Consent/Fat Possum Records

"A truly bracing performance." The Independent (live revew) “Studiously crafted and meticulously executed from start to finish, if any doubts remained as to whether Fat White Family were the most important rock and roll band of their generation, this should put a lid on it once and for all. For Songs for Our Mothers is of a rare breed of record that's both of its time yet timeless in nature.. “ Drowned In Sound “What makes them special is that it’s organic. Their music is an extension of themselves, pure id, and that’s what makes them so enthralling. This is the sound of a death-or-glory headlong charge.” Line Of Best Fit "There's a lot to be said for saying the wrong thing." The Quietus/lead review “Fat White Family never sought to embrace high art. High art thrust itself upon them.” NY Observer ”…off-kilter, anthemic passages.” Autre

“Any album that makes you worry about yourself is worth exploring. It’s even better if it’s excruciatingly cool in the process. Fat White Family have built a nonstop, sit-down kind of album that grips you all the way through its strangely elegant finish. But where Songs For Our Mothers really triumphs is in its ability to take you somewhere totally new – even if you’d prefer not to know where that is.” Pancakes And Whiskey “Affliction and addiction shape their twisted worldview, and while their musical translation of this mindset—infusing the darkly-shaded psychedelia of Velvet Underground with the cheap electronic throb of Suicide— is anything but pretty on the ears, the group’s knotted noise feels inviting.” Pitchfork “…a brilliant, dirty, miserable, provocative, dirge of an album” Louder Than War "eye-curdling electronic-subverting monsters that evolve into persistent, inescapable jams." Rolling Stone Australia “…the band's most intricate and best recordings yet. It’s as if they’re goading, ‘Sure, criticise us, but just listen to these choruses!’ NME North American Tour Dates:

Wussy Release Video for "Dropping Houses" + New Album Out Next Friday 3/4

Wussy Release New “ Dropping Houses ” Video

Forever Sounds Out March 4th

On Tour Now

“America’s best songwriting band might now be among its best soundscaping ones”
 - SPIN

“A swaggering, bleary, distorted churn topped off by another virtuoso vocal duet
- Stereogum

“Maximum singability and staying power” - Pitchfork

Following the release of lead single Dropping Houses ”, Cincinnati’s Wussy has now added a dynamic visual accompaniment to the track. Premiered today on Stereogum and directed by Scott Fredette, the video offers an ominous twist to a modest performance video. With colorful bursts of light and flashes we see the band contrasted against a black background with the overlay of vibrantly layered stills of galaxies, shooting stars, and eerily abstract treetops. The lyrics look back on a toxic relationship and reference the Wizard of Oz through a singable wall of noise and fuzzy melodic swirl. Dubbed by SPIN as “their most challenging and densely textured to date”, the band’s sixth full-length Forever Sounds will be released March 4 via Shake It Records & Damnably (UK/Europe).

Following the release of their cult classic debut in 2005, “to certain fans of Lucinda Williams, Crazy Horse, Mekons and R.E.M., Wussy became the best band in America almost instantaneously with...Funeral Dress” (SPIN). Made up of Chuck Cleaver (Ass Ponys), Lisa Walker, Mark Messerly, Joe Klug, and John Erhardt, the band has truly come into their own on the new album. While their pop sensibilities remain intact, the mix and instrumentation are more reminiscent of the band’s noise-heavy live shows. The album’s ten tracks are full of hope, determination, heartbreak, deception, aliens, the supernatural, the everyday, friendship, love and second chances. Get a glimpse of what the album has in store with the official track listing below and be sure to catch Wussy on their nation wide tour happening now.

The Dead Ships to play March 7 at Studio at Webster Hall & March 9 at Rough Trade; Share "Company Line" with Consequence Of Sound

The Dead Ships Share "Company Line" With Consequence of Sound

On Tour This Spring With Le Butcherettes

Festival Appearances Including Noise Pop, SXSW & Coachella Announced

“Sounds like The Strokes if they’d reinvented themselves as a folk punk band.” - Entertainment Weekly

"Righteous pure rock" - MTV

“Their tuneful charisma separates them from the legions of garage-rock imitators” - LA Times

“The lovechild between Alabama Shakes and the Black Keys" - CMJ

Stream: "Company Line" via Consequence Of Sound or SoundCloud

Consequence Of Sound has premiered The Dead Ships new single "Company Line."  The new single offers a peek at the band's full-length album due later this year. The Dead Ships' frontman Devlin McCluskey told Consequence Of Sound, “So many things seem intentionally set up to give you the sensation of falling. And I think when people feel out of options they’ll pull whatever ripcord they can find. I started writing about buying into things that no one ever wanted, how and why that happens and what it feels like to be stuck in that place, but I think it ended up more like an ole fashioned f*ck-tha-man song (which I’m completely on board with). Fascism does seem to be in fashion these days.” The single was produced by Broken Social Scene’s Brendan Canning who also worked with the band on last year's EP 1 and features cover art by acclaimed street artist Greg “Craola” Simkins.

The Dead Ships have also announced upcoming tour dates with Le Butcherettes. The upcoming tour will make stops in Chicago, New York, Philadelphia, Toronto, Washington, D.C., Atlanta and more. The band will also be performing at San Francisco's Noise Pop Festival and Austin's SXSW Music Festival before play at Coachella in April. The Dead Ships' Devlin McCluskey told Buzzbands LA, "This [Coachella confirmation] came out of nowhere. It always seems like there’s some invisible hand working for bands to get to the next level, but we have no label, no booking agent, nothing like that. It’s such a surprise.” He adds, "It feels like 2016 is going to be a really fun year for us.  We’ve just worked and worked and worked and worked. It seems like it might be paying off.”

The Los Angeles-based band is touring in support of "Company Line" and their latest release EP 1 which is available now to download on iTunes or BandCamp. The EP was produced by Broken Social Scene’s Brendan Canning and marked the first time Canning produced a record for a band he wasn’t a part of, and The Dead Ships made the most of the experience. McCluskey told Consequence Of Sound, "Getting to work with Brendan Canning on your guitar-driven indie rock is like getting to work with Barry Bonds on your steroid regimen (allegedly).”
In the three years since the Dead Ships traded punches at their first living room practice, LA's howling garage rock trio have toured the shadiest parts of the continent, slept on the grimiest couches, and been named one of the city's best live shows (DoLA, Grimy Goods). Balancing feral and soulful, they've most recently released EP 1, produced by Broken Social Scene's Brendan Canning, with emotional lead single "Big Quiet" spending 5 weeks at number one on KROQ's Local's Only. From celebrating youthful innocence to comprehending life after tragedy, singer Devlin McCluskey writes songs that are pensive yet upbeat. Building off influences such as The Pixies while maintaining their comparison to The Strokes, The Dead Ships are a reminder that honest guitar rock still has its place in this world - and it's a loud one.

Sune Rose Wagner said of ‘Run Mascara Run’, “…'Run Mascara Run' was partly inspired by a trip to the Bronx in NY with my mentor Richard Gottehrer and the one and only Dion, of Dion And The Belmonts fame. I remember distinctly Dion telling fantastic stories of gang life, girl crushes and of course Doo Wop. Hip Hop of course has always been a huge influence on everything I do so for the first time I decided to add a spoken word, stream of consciousness, rap part to a Raves tune. The notion of girls going off to war, instead of men has been haunting me for quite some time, imagine if that was the case! Images of the War in the Pacific, California surfer boys grieving the loss of their girlfriends or wives, etc. What if bombs had fallen in George Lucas’ American Graffiti? This is quite a schizo tune! Rave On X…”
