"SPECIAL HIGH" FROM DRINKING FLOWERS

FLAUNT MAGAZINE PREMIERES "SPECIAL HIGH" FROM
DRINKING FLOWERS
NEW SWIRLED ORDER  OUT MARCH 18th VIA MANIFESTO RECORDS LISTEN / EMBED "SPECIAL HIGH" HERE
"It's the hymn of a disgruntled generation searching for, and waiting for, an epiphany that can only come from within."- Flaunt Magazine
" The track draws instant comparisons to Depeche Mode and The Cure in my head."- Paste Magazine Los Angeles post-punk revivalists Drinking Flowers have shared the second single off of their upcoming album New Swirled Order. "Special High" premiered this morning viaFlaunt Magazine. The band also took some time to chat with the writer about their favorite tracks from the UK in the 80s. Check out the track and feature here! Taking from the book of Factory Records era post-punk, "Black Monday" is an incredibly dark yet, catchy slice of synth-pop. Vocalist / guitarist Alex Galindo explains, "'Black Monday' popped into my head, and it seemed to be the perfect two words to capture my feelings at the time. I was depressed, completely uninspired from my day job, and felt trapped. I wanted to make a really dumb and simple pop song with a lot of repetition and only a couple variations floating around. It's sort of a metaphor for the constant flow of uncreative non-liberating work most of us find ourselves doing." Drinking Flowers originated in Orange County. Shrugging off the shackles of surf and garage, they quickly moved to LA and within a few years established their own pop underground with a couple of washed out EPs. Most notably the transitional "Shadow Show" - whose cover art saw a collaboration with Vice News artist Alex Schubert. New Swirled Order will grace your ears March 18th 2016 on LP, digital & cassette.

Daniel Ash "Stripped" coming 4/8, his first studio album since 2002

Daniel Ash "Stripped" coming April 8th
His first studio album since 2002 features appearances by John Fryer, Adam Bravin of She Wants Revenge, Mat Mitchell of Puscifer, and more For over 35 years, Daniel Ash (Bauhaus, Tones On Tail, Love & Rockets) has been one of the seminal figures in alternative music; whether for his wildly experimental guitar playing or for his sardonic vocal stylings, or perhaps even for throwing in a bit of saxophone. Having defied categorization by fusing elements of electronica with punk, goth, and glam rock, Ash has earned the status of a living legend.
Stripped  (Main Man Records) is Ash's first studio album since 2002. The album features all "re-takes" done in a style that resembles dub-step, variations of EDM, Atmospheric and Ambient "A-La Brian Eno Meets Bowie". Avid fans may recognize the songs but in reality they are at times completely different in a genetic recombination passing through a centrifuge
The biggest commercial hit by Love and Rockets was "So Alive" which in itself is a masterpiece. the record went to #3 on the Billboard Pop charts. Legendary producer of the original John Fryer was tapped for the new version of "So Alive" along with "Love Me" and the Bauhaus classic, "Slice Of Life."
Stripped  also features producer Mat Mitchell of Puscifer on the track "Christian Says" and Adam Bravin of She Wants Revenge on "OK This Is the Pops." Both classic songs are originally fromTones On Tail, the band born out of the ashes of Bauhaus and later became Love and Rockets.
Stripped  also features the never released until now new song "Come On"

Puce Mary announces "The Spiral" LP for Posh Isolation, stream 'Night Is A Trap II' now

PUCE MARY ANNOUNCES THE SPIRAL LP
OUT MARCH 25TH ON POSH ISOLATION
STREAM "NIGHT IS A TRAP II"  HERE
The Spiral  is Frederikke Hoffmeier'ss third solo LP for Posh Isolation under her Puce Mary moniker, and follows where last year's critically acclaimed Persona left off.

Working more precisely than ever, The Spiral binds the listener in a tight web of sharp synthesizers, hammering percussion, obscured vocals, field recordings, and blistering noise. Puce Mary manages to at once honour the history of industrial music and noise, as well as transform it. The Spiral is harsh, but the aggression of the compositions never feels unnecessarily overstated. It is an album that is easy to get dragged into but brutally hard to get out of, disclosing the underhand of control as censurable nurture.

The Spiral goes through an extreme spectre of emotions, trying to be everything, feel everything, at once. The vestige of safety in dominance and submission is antagonised as audience and artist take turns being dealt blows. The Spiral charts this instability as a perennial tonic in sound.

With an already impressive discography and live career, Frederikke Hoffmeier has manifested herself as a key voice in new industrial music. The Spiral is further proof that she has earned her praise.

EFG Share New Single "Outlier" / Announce Limited Edition 7"

INTERVIEW MAGAZINE PREMIERES "OUTLIRE" BY EFG
BAND ANNOUNCES EXCLUSIVE 7" WITH "OUTLIRE" B/W "SUZANNE" 7" OUT APRIL 1 VIA BODAN KUMA RECORDINGS
  STREAM / EMBED "OUTLIER" HERE

Los Angeles psych-rockers EFG are excited to share their explosive new single "Outlier."  The track premiered this morning on Interview Magazine. Stream // embed "Outlier" here.

The band has also announced a limited edition 7" designed by Julian Gross (Liars) for "Outlier" backed with the single "Suzanne" which will be released via Bodan Kuma Recordings and is available for pre-order here.

EFG is comprised of Imaad Wasif (lowercase, alaska!, The Folk Implosion and ex-Yeah Yeah Yeahs), Josh Garza (Secret Machines) and Tom Biller (musician and producer Liars, Warpaint, Kate Nash).

In the time they've been a band they've released two epic conceptual rock EP's, including a blistering cover of Scott Walker's
"The Electrician," of which Walker himself said, "Amazing. Both song and video."

The new 7" 'Outlier b/w Suzanne' is an evolution for the band, the songs black around the eyes and rough around the edges, with Wasif as their narrator, white-knuckling their vehicle straight off a cliff.

"If a song can come from visions and dreams then Suzanne is the white-mare, the meta specter of conscious and subconscious love and hate, tinted through a Leonard Cohen afterworld with Garza & Biller's rhythms as its thundering hoof-beat."
I. Wasif

The music is all snarling riffs and beats; experimentation gone awry and an alchemy creating all sorts of Spritus Sanctus.

"Outlier" is available as a download with every pre-order 7" purchase via bodankuma.com. The track will also be available as a single download from all digital retailers.

Destruction Unit shares new music video, announces European tour dates

DESTRUCTION UNIT SHARES NEW LIVE VIDEO FILMED IN LONDON
ANNOUNCES EUROPEAN TOUR DATES
NEGATIVE FEEDBACK RESISTOR OUT NOW ON SACRED BONES                                                                                                            "The Arizona quintet Destruction Unit go about their business in a way that inverts most recieved ideas about how a rock group evolves...each subsequent album has sounded rawer, punkier, and more enraged than the last - the opposite being vastly more common."  - The Wire

"In about five years, Destruction Unit, from Tempe, Ariz., has wormed its way toward its present status as one of the most hair-raising bands in North America. It plays tight, fast punk wrapped in deep layers of pulsating fuzz: The effect is something between a ritual and an attack. "Negative Feedback Resistor" delivers you a band in its own world, but the record is intensely charged, almost floating, saturated with wild action." - New York Times

"'The Upper Hand' is the sound of a band exploring the outer limits-experimenting and coming up with a sound that connects the dots between massive and empty. It's a full encapsulation of what Destruction Unit do, and it's one of their best recordings to date." Pitchfork

Destruction Unit are heading to Europe this June in support of their critically acclaimed record Negative Feedback Resistor. Today the band are sharing a psychedelic live video of album track "If Death Ever Slept" from a recent London show at the Shacklewell Arms. It was shot and edited by Soundyoucansee in collaboration with Bad Vibrations.

Japanese experimental trio NISENNENMONDAI: Share new track and trailer from album produced by ADRIAN SHERWOOD

NISENNENMONDAI SHARE MORE MUSIC AND TRAILER FOR FORTHCOMING ADRIAN SHERWOOD-PRODUCED ALBUMSTREAM THE TRAILER AND TRACKAlbum title: #N/ARelease Date: 6th May 2016Label: On-U SoundFormat: 2LP // 2CD // DigitalCat No: ONU131
[image error]
“Minimalistic techno, thudding machine-pulse and whale-cry atmospherics achieved using just classic power-trio kit.” -NME
“This is music that beguiles and enchants, hypnotises and seduces, takes you into your consciousness and shoots you out of it. Crucially, this is music you can dance to.” - The Quietus
“Restraint and repetition urge the listener into an altered state of consciousness. This is a joyous sound that lifts and releases the spirit.” - The Wire"With walls of distortion and a pummelling rhythmic backbone that fluctuates between krautrock`s repetition and free-rock calamity, bassist Zai, guitarist Ma-Chan and drummer Hime have formed an unassuming juggernaut” - Dazed & ConfusedThe second music to be shared from the #N/A album, this edit of 12-minute closing track '#5' demonstrates the trio's uncanny ability to take the standard power trio set-up of guitar-bass-drums and produce all manner of otherworldly sounds. With a constant bass pulse and metronomic hi-hat keeping the horror movie tension of the track taut, whipcrack rimshots and spiralling shards of barely identifiable guitar noise disappear into a black hole of dub delay. This is ritualistic trance music for the dancefloor.

There's definite parallels to be drawn here with producer Adrian Sherwood's other contributions to the 'metal dance' genre: re-assembling Einstürzende Neubauten's "Yü-Gung" in 1985; helping Ministry reinvent their sound from synth-pop to menacing Electronic Body Music on the Twitch album (inspiring one half of Glasgow DJ duo Optimo in the process); working with seminal Sheffield synthesists Cabaret Voltaire; kickstarting Nine Inch Nails' career with his production work on the classic Pretty Hate Machine; even his own music as part of Tackhead - cut-up fragments of newsreels, noise and cavernous beats. Whilst Nisennenmondai's music is a world removed from these 80s industrial experiments, #N/A demonstrates Sherwood masterfully applying his dub production skills to another kind of metal machine music.
#N/A (literally, Nisennenmondai with Adrian Sherwood) is a new studio album which sees the cult Japanese trio filtering their epic motorik jams through the mixing desk of the legendary dub producer.
Nisennenmondai are three girls from Tokyo, Sayaka Himeno (drums), Yuri Zaikawa (bass) and Masako Takada (guitar), who have been playing instrumental music together since 1999. From their initial beginnings as a noisy no wave band openly referencing influences such as Sonic Youth, DNA and This Heat, they have since honed and streamlined their sound into a more minimalistic pulse with an emphasis on the hypnotic possibilities of repetition, creating a sound that can be likened to ‘organic techno’.
Much beloved by other musicians including Battles, Prefuse 73 and Chris & Cosey (Throbbing Gristle), in recent years they have made more connections to dance culture, in particular with their 2015 collaboration live and on record with electronic producer Shackleton.
Recording their new album with Sherwood has resulted in them sounding bigger than ever before, with a greater emphasis on small rhythmic details and subtle dub touches, reminiscent in places of the classic Basic Channel sound.
This international edition of the album includes 2 bonus ‘live dub mixes’. Whilst Adrian showed considerable restraint in his production job on the studio album, on a subsequent live date at Tokyo’s Unit club he was recorded deploying a wild array of FX tricks, dropping in splashes of cavernous reverb and space echo delay to the performance of two pieces from the band’s previous album N’.
The three members of Nisennenmondai met at their university and formed the band soon after. They mostly released music on their own Bijin label, with the compilation album Neji/Tori released by Norway's Smalltown Supersound in 2008, whilst N’ followed in 2014 on Blast First Petite. The band are known for their dynamic live show, and despite little mainstream media attention, have built a substantial international following. They have played dates in Australia, Austria, Belgium, Croatia, Denmark, Finland, France, Germany, Holland, Italy, Iceland, Poland, Portugal, Norway, Spain, Switzerland, Sweden, UK and USA.
Described by allmusic's Heather Phares as "taking as much inspiration from the cool kids at school as they do from experimentalists like This Heat, The Pop Group, Sonic Youth, DNA and Neu!, Nisennenmondai compose raw and repetitive (post) punk instrumentals, which can be groove-oriented whilst also having a no wave/disco vibe. Himeno tirelessly pounds at her snare and bass drum while slashing her cymbals, while Takada adds layers of delay and clangy sounding distortion.”
Prefuse 73 said in an interview with Dazed & Confused: "John Stanier from Battles had told me that they were sick. They start to play. Next thing you know, these three tiny diminutive women were making us look like idiots because they were so incredible". The band were chosen by Battles to perform at the ATP Nightmare Before Christmas, that they co-curated in December 2011 in Minehead, England. Subsequently, Battles invited the band to tour with them in the states.
