Polyvinyl Records and Tancred are excited to share, “Control Me”, the latest single off Out of the Garden, the forthcoming April 1st LP from the talented musician and songwriter also known as Jess Abbott. Produced by That Dog’s Anna Waronker and Off!/Redd Kross member Steven McDonald, Out of the Garden has already been hailed as a “phenomenal” new album by NPR Music. “Control Me” premieres today via USA Today’s For the Win, who note that “If you’re a fan of The Breeders (and how could you not be?) this is a song you will love.” Tancred are in the midst of a national spring tour in support of the album. Upcoming tour dates below.

“Out of the Garden is just phenomenal… this to me feels like a breakthrough, I feel like they’ll have a good year.” - NPR Music
“You can sense the catharsis in this song’s defiant, retrospective lyrics and aggressive guitar parts. On top of that there’s the grungy, almost surf-rock bass parts, upbeat drum patterns, and crisp vocals, all of it strongly communicating Abbott’s message.” - Stereogum (on “Sell My Head”)
“Going by first single ‘Sell My Head,’ she's rocking harder than ever.” - Brooklyn Vegan
Written over a two-year period during a break from touring, Out of the Garden’s emphasis on re-defining feminine expectations was shaped by primary songwriter Jess Abbott’s experiences living in Minneapolis and working at a liquor store in a rough part of town. “I learned how to speak up when I needed to and how to truly be myself without reservation,” Abbott recalls. “I felt afraid walking home at night, and after a couple of months I just got sick of it and started getting into self-defense and self-empowerment as a means of coping. Finding my own strength changed everything.”
After writing and tracking every song in her apartment, Abbott enlisted Kevin Medina and Terrence Vitali to add drums and bass to her demos. The band then traveled to LA to record with McDonald and Waronker. As a result, Out of the Garden showcases Tancred shedding its former skin in favor of a bolder and infinitely more confident sound. Says Abbott, “Out of the Garden represents doing what you want, what you need, without letting anything or anyone stop you - and smiling while you do it.”

CLARE MAGUIRE ANNOUNCES NEW ALBUM & SHARES "ELIZABETH TAYLOR"
CLARE MAGUIRE ANNOUNCES
STRANGER THINGS HAVE HAPPENED
ALBUM COMING MAY 27th; LISTEN TO FIRST SINGLE 'ELIZABETH TAYLOR' http://po.st/ETSc

Clare Maguire listens to all sorts of artists these days; they have only one thing in common. "They are true to themselves," she says. This, more than any genre or sound or era, is all that matters to the 27-year-old singer-songwriter right now. "It's a certain attitude that I'm really drawn to," she explains, "and it really doesn't matter what music it is, and it doesn't matter who the person is. That's the inspiration for me."
This much is clear in Maguire's new music. After a moment away from the spotlight, the Brummie chanteuse is back in full force - still with that amazing, swooping, haunting voice, but with more raw, fragile vulnerability. Clare wrote the majority of this album at home on her piano, with her sausage dogs, on a diet of pizza and cups of tea, listening to everything from Rihanna to Johnny Cash, "If it sounds a bit rough around the edges, it's fine," she reasons, "because that's who I am."
She posted a series of songs online herself over the past year to high praise from the likes of Pitchfork, Fader and Rookie. These beautifully fragile tracks also caught the attention ofChristopher Bailey, head designer at Burberry, who invited Clare to perform at multiple runway shows across the world, a creative relationship which continues to flourish.
Now Clare is poised and ready to release her brand new album, Stranger Things Have Happened, with brand new single, "Elizabeth Taylor", the first song to be heard from the album.
A true artist and musician, Clare wrote the entire album herself and was heavily involved with the studio recording process, drafting in modern British greats like pianist Sam Beste (best known for his work with Amy Winehouse) and producer Blue May (Kindness, Robyn, Kano and more).
Stranger Things Have Happened will be released on EMI Records on May 27th!

MOSSY Premieres "Electric Chair" Live Video
MOSSY PREMIERES "ELECTRIC CHAIR" LIVE VIDEO
SELF-TITLED EP OUT MAY 13 ON I OH YOU
Mossy -- Sydney musician and actor Jamie Timony -- brings a dramatic flair to the new live video for his single "Electric Chair," which premiered today on Bullett. The video, directed by Timony and his younger brother Ben, is shot in a playful style reminiscent of Harry Nilsson and features Mossy performing a theatrical stripped-down piano version of "Electric Chair." Bullett says the video "brings new depth to 'Electric Chair.' The singer coos, playing passionately at the piano, before breaking the third wall, slipping into some bizarre trip and cueing an eerie, spliced-in laugh track."
WATCH "ELECTRIC CHAIR" LIVE!
"Electric Chair" will appear on Mossy's self-titled debut EP, out May 13 on I OH YOU. Check out the original song and Kris Moyes-directed video here.
MORE ON MOSSY:Jamie Timony is what some people call a Renaissance man. A songwriter since 16, Timony fell in love with music from an early age before going on to act in critically acclaimed stage plays, in feature films alongside the likes of Geoffrey Rush and Willem Dafoe, and expressing himself with visual art. Now under the name MOSSY, he's adding music to the impressive career he's built as a multi-talented artist. "Playing music just makes everything feel good. It's a spiritual practice. It makes me feel closer to everything. Like I'm in the right place," he says.
MOSSY recorded his forthcoming EP while sleeping on blowup mattresses in a basement studio on New York's Lower East Side. Produced by Dean Tuza with additional production from David Kahne (The Strokes, Paul McCartney), MOSSY also got a helping hand from engineer to Beyonce and Jay Z, Stuart White. "He was in the studio next door to us and we became friends. He'd pop into the studio to find out what we're up to and he was enjoying what we were doing," MOSSY says.
Having polished the results of those New York sessions, MOSSY is releasing his debut self-titled EP with the lead single "Electric Chair." Blending psychedelic haze with crackling drum machines, "Electric Chair" swaggers with big synth and guitar hooks and a stomping beat. Elsewhere on the EP, MOSSY drops mesmerising and laid-back jams from the acid house beat of 'Shipping Yard' to the woozy, love song dedication of "Waterfall" with its blazing 70s rock riffs. Split down the middle with tingling jazz skronk of instrumental interlude "Spa," it all culminates with "Ginsberg," in which MOSSY's heartfelt crooning cuts through the noise and goes straight for the soul.
A lover of the pop songwriting of The Beatles and poignant lyricism of Leonard Cohen as much as the noisy theatrics of The Horrors and Deerhunter, MOSSY seamlessly weaves his eclectic tastes into a record as catchy as it is intricate. Now signed to I OH YOU, MOSSY is finally ready to bring those production talents to the world.

MOOGFEST 2016 UNVEILS AMBITIOUS DAYTIME PROGRAM - DURHAM, NC MAY 19-22

OF CONVERSATIONS, WORKSHOPS, MASTERCLASSES AND FILM SCREENINGS LED BY ARTISTS + TECHNOLOGISTS INCLUDING LAURIE ANDERSON, GZA, DANIEL LANOIS, THE ORB AND REGGIE WATTS
Four-day festival explores new technologies pushing the boundaries of creative expression to take place in Durham, North Carolina from May 19-22
Durham, North Carolina (March 23, 2016) – Moogfest 2016 today unveiled an ambitious daytime lineup of events that features many musical artists, including Laurie Anderson, GZA, and Daniel Lanois, leading master classes, workshops, and conversations that explore the technologies, innovations, and ideas that make the festival’s cutting-edge evening performances possible. To celebrate the legacy of Bob Moog, an engineer who worked in partnership with artists to invent new creative tools, Moogfest reimagines the tech conference and music festival by taking the best of both formats to create a completely new type of experience. Hailed as “a sci-fi dance party with a Ph.D. in STEM” by The New York Times , Moogfest 2016 will gather more than 250 technologists, musicians, and artists -- from Grimes and Gary Numan to Jaron Lanier and Dr. Martine Rothblatt -- to explore new technologies that are pushing the boundaries of creative expression. For the first time, Moogfest will take place in Durham, North Carolina, named one the hottest cities for tech in 2016 by Business Insider, and just a few hours from the employee-owned Moog Music factory in Asheville.
Reflecting its role as an incubator for experimentation across technology, art, and music, Moogfest enlisted The Haxan Cloak and Smashing Boxes, a Durham-based digital design firm, to collaborate on turning the Moogfest website into instrument. Dubbed “_substrate”, it allows fans to manipulate individual audio tracks by swiping, tapping, and clicking the screen, resulting in a totally unique audio and 3D visual experience for each user. The experience launches with a remix by The Haxan Cloak (Moses Sumney’s cover of Laurie Anderson’s “O Superman”), and will expand in the coming months to feature other Moogfest artists.
Watch the tutorial on how to use _substrate HERE.

Visuals will debut on thesongsays with his beautifully well-rounded novella of an EP, The State Of Things. The label has long focused on the romantic and conceptual currents of dance music and Visuals joins the tight-knit roster with three stunning songs that perfectly fit the thesongsays ethos while bringing together the diverse elements of his musical background. The Brooklyn-based singer, songwriter and multi-instrumentalist - whose work debuted on Nicolas Jaar’s Other People imprint - excels not only through his distinctive vocal style and melodic richness, but also through the acute subtlety of his lyrical content. The record’s A-side is a case in point: pure tropical melancholia that finds Visuals lyrically sifting through the modern contradictions of everyday life over lambent pads and off-kilter percussion: “I couldn’t tell hell from paradise / I’m so caught up in the state of things.” While the vocals recall the realm of indie, the quirky textures and post-production (courtesy of DARKSIDE member Dave Harrington and Berlin-based house producer and drummer Louis McGuire ) gesture toward the electronic. On the flip, the buoyant bass line of "Days Of Our Youth" anticipates an infectious chorus that feels perfectly anthemic for spring and summer: "Days of our youth on fire / Burning in your eyes." It’s an expertly crafted and arranged piece of music that lends itself to adventurous DJs wanting to give the room something counterintuitive and unusual. Completing the release is "No Handle"—pensive, deep, and hypnotic for the noir corners of early morning dance floors.

HIGHASAKITE AND HASTA TEAM UP ON "SOMEONE WHO’LL GET IT" REMIX
HIGHASAKITE AND HASTA TEAM UP ON ‘SOMEONE WHO’LL GET IT’ REMIX
‘SOMEONE WHO’LL GET IT’
OUT NOW – TAKEN FROM‘CAMP ECHO’, RELEASED MAY 20 [PRE-ORDER]
‘Someone Who’ll Get It (Hasta Remix)’: soundcloud.com/propellerrecordings/highasakite-someone-wholl-get-it-hasta-remix-1
Teaming up with production wunderkind Hasta, Norway’s Highasakite reveal a stunning rework of new single ‘Someone Who’ll Get It’ . It’s a brooding twist on the slow jam; a soft and bridled build replacing the track’s signature gunfire with hushed keys, fingerclicks and billowing bass. Stream/embed ‘Someone Who’ll Get It (Hasta Remix)’ HERE.
Hasta is the production alias of 18-year-old Norwegian producer Thomas Wesenlund Wahl – a name synonymous with dark, bass-heavy soundscapes and high-speed production. Having remixed the likes of Mura Masa and Preston Harris, Hasta went on to release blog-buzzing original ‘Tropical Nintendo’ in 2015, earning the collective praise of FACT and THUMP. The ‘Botanique EP’ of late last year is hailed an exciting new chapter for the young producer, combining elements of jazz, R&B and atmospheric 808.
Since surfacing on The FADER / BBC Radio 1 (Huw Stephens), ‘Someone Who’ll Get It’ has clocked in excess of 2.5 million streams, with the partnering video also afforded a high-profile premiere on Vogue. Watch it HERE.
It serves the first taste of Highasakite’s sophomore LP ‘Camp Echo’ – a namesake taken from one of seven detention camps within Guantanamo Bay – and lands ahead of a hefty summer tour schedule, including festival billings at The Great Escape, Latitude Festival and Øyafestivalen, alongside a UK/EU Headline Tour in May. Full dates below…
Championed by the likes of Pitchfork, NME and The Guardian, Highasakite’s debut album of 2014 ‘Silent Treatment’ now claims the record for longest consecutive run in Norwegian chart history, having spent 105 weeks in the Top 40.

What people are saying about The Helio Sequence:
“The Helio Sequence has created a euphoric, career-defining album.” [9.2 / 10] - PASTE
“...10 infectiously compelling tracks in 36 breathtaking minutes...Songs that would have been furiously epic on recent THS works are marvels of restraint in length and production, particularly the nervous slink of “Upward Mobility,” the elegant swagger of “Stoic Resemblance” and the thrilling pop insistence of “Deuces,” which all clock in at less than four minutes.” [Essential New Music] - MAGNET
"...The duo’s latest is an ambitious, smart, and memorable collection of crisply produced clean-channel rock that shows all the newcomers how it’s done." [8/10] - FLOOD
“This collection of songs is lush and atmospheric, leaning heavily on layered, orchestral ambience rather than on the chirping indie-pop choruses of the band’s past. Album opener “Battle Lines” surges with melancholy, each note fraught with a moody pensiveness. It expands from there, as if the musicians are not necessarily expressing anything different, but expressing the same things differently. The collection as a whole is lovely and contemplative, building a certain feeling around the listener.” - Relix
“Stoic Resemblance” matches harmonious psychedelic chorus with a brisk krautrock pulse.” - Stereogum
“”Stoic Resemblance” is among the most pop-friendly things the duo have put to tape. Of course, “pop-friendly” to The Helio Sequence takes the shape of more direct song structures and vocal hooks. Naturally, it’s all filtered through their signature kaleidoscopic filter, hitting a chord somewhere between gauzy and taut. At a tight three minutes, “Stoic Resemblance” shows The Helio Sequence at their most spontaneous and their most playful, which is not only a surprise turn from the studio-intense direction that’s long defined them with surprisingly fun results.” [Song of the Day] - KEXP
“It’s a hit of catchy goodness with a funky bassline with a chorus of “oh na na nas.” It’s a bonafide jam.” [“Stoic Resemblance”] - KCRW
“The Helio Sequence’s first eponymous album is their sixth, and symbolizes a creative rebirth of the Portland—by way of Beaverton—duo...“Stoic Resemblance” is the first of the results to come trickling in, and its groovy bass line, coupled with a 21st centuryinterpretation of CCR guitar and set behind Steve Miller Band-esque vocals, has us eagerly anticipating the other nine.” - Willamette Week
“A snappy and steadily groovin’ indie pop number…” [“Stoic Resemblance”] - Consequence of Sound
“A rager by comparison, rhythmically reminiscent of Beck...It’s great to find the Helio Sequence upping their game, and being a little less stoic.” [“Stoic Resemblance”] - Buzzbands

YEASAYER
SHARES NEW TRACK
“GERSON’S WHISTLE”
FROM AMEN & GOODBYE
THE NEW ALBUM OUT APRIL 1 2016
NEW TOUR DATES ANNOUNCED

Photo credit: Eliot Lee HazelToday Yeasayer shares “Gerson’s Whistle,” featuring guest vocals from the legendary folk singer Suzzy Roche of The Roches. The track is from their forthcoming fourth studio album, Amen & Goodbye, released April 1, 2016 on Mute.
Listen to ‘Gerson’s Whistle’ HERE
Amen & Goodbye is the follow-up to 2012’s Fragrant World. Moving away from a digital-heavy approach, Yeasayer recorded Amen & Goodbye live to tape at Outlier Inn Studio in upstate New York, then brought on board Joey Waronker (drummer - Atoms For Peace / Beck) to deconstruct everything in order to make the final document.
The finished album has, as a loose concept, an underlying narrative informed by religion and transcendence, the afterlife and the search for meaning, and the songs stream together like a collection of strange fables from the Bible of some universe that does not yet exist. Amen & Goodbye features Yeasayer’s trademark sound without sounding like anything the band has done before.
Amen & Goodbye will be released on gatefold vinyl, featuring album artwork - a tableau of sculptures, actors and digital images - created by the renowned artist David Altmejd. In case you missed it, the band released a behind-the-scenes peek at details from Altmejd's tableau, ending with a final zoom out to reveal the entire mise-en-scène. Watch it HERE and listen to album track, “Prophecy Gun,” along with the previous album teaser videos.
