Cate Le Bon Unveils a New Video for "Love Is Not Love"!

CATE LE BON PONDERS THE MEANING OF LOVE CRAB DAY  IS OUT NOW!

As Cate Le Bon departs the US following her triumphant national tour to spend the summer playing dates across Europe, we have the pleasure of unveiling a new video from her acclaimed album  Crab Day !

"Love Is Not Love" is directed by the wonderfully idiosyncratic Turner Prize nominee Phil Collins (just like the short film)! The video, shot in Berlin, seesCate being joined by an elite troupe of dancers to engage in some seriously avant-garde yet clinically synchronized dance routines! Buckle up kiddos, things are about to get weird. WATCH  "LOVE IS NOT LOVE"  HERE "A coalition of inescapable feelings and fabricated nonsense, each propping the other up. Crab Day is an old holiday. Crab Day is a new holiday. Crab Day isn't a holiday at all." -- Cate Le BonCate Le Bon Online: Order- https://www.dragcity.com/products/crab-day Drag City- http://www.dragcity.com/artists/cate-le-bon

ELIOT SUMNER Announces Summer 2016 Tour Dates

ELIOT SUMNER Announces Summer 2016 Tour Dates    Eliot Sumner performs on Jimmy Kimmel Live!
"She's traded in the pop sensibilities of her youth for the darkness and worries of adulthood with excellent results" -  Consequence of Sound
"There's a newly minted swagger to her pop" -  Noisey
"It's engaging stuff that inspires you to move with an '80s-influenced beat"  - Stereogum
"Eliot Sumner will have you dancing with new single 'After Dark'" -  Billboard
"[Information] feels cohesive-a blended margarita of dazzling synth layers and Sumner's signature vocals, dreamily masculine and coolly compelling" -  Flaunt
"The husky vocals give ['Species'] a goth vibe, the analog synth sequencing provides a minimal wave foundation, shards of angular guitar tear through the refrain and the multi-tracked chorus is pure pop catharsis" -  Idolator
"Eliot Sumner gives us the chills with her new track 'Firewood'" -  Earmilk
"['Dead Arms & Dead Legs' is] a pretty huge pop song, with Sumner's androgynous alto sounding dusty and world-weary over a cloudy melody, anxious percussion, and-by song's end-a seasick swell of feedback" -  The Fader Eliot's talents as a songwriter and instrumentalist gained praise upon the release of four new songs last year -  "Dead Arms & Dead Legs" "After Dark" "Firewood"  and  "Species"  - as well as the release of Information. Influences from Krautrock-inspired riffs to pulsing synth-pop rhythms paired with her signature alto are heard throughout the record. 2015 also marked Eliot's first North American tour with On An On in August and September followed by a European tour in November.  In 2014, following the release of her first EP, Eliot joined Lykke Li as support on her European tour dates. The backstage antics of Eliot and her band were captured in a three-part behind the scenes documentary featured on i-D, "On the Road with Eliot Sumner and Lykke Li" -  PRESS HERE  to watch.

Fear of Men release "Trauma" video, 'Fall Forever' out 6/3 via Kanine Records

FEAR OF MEN RELEASE "TRAUMA" VIDEO
ANNOUNCE FULL US SUMMER TOUR & EU FALL TOUR
FALL FOREVER OUT 6/3 VIA KANINE RECORDS

WATCH THE "TRAUMA" VIDEO
Brighton, UK's Fear of Men have shared an Eleanor Hardwick and Sam Boullier directed video for "Trauma," one of the previous singles from the band's upcoming album, Fall Forever. Stereogum, who premiered the video today are calling it "powerful." Fall Forever is available for pre-order now, and out June 3rd on Kanine Records.
Daniel Falvey of the band said "for this video we were interested in bringing the album cover to life - exploring the tension in that image and the dichotomy it depicts of intimacy and resistance. Incorporating this image, Eleanor and Sam's treatment reflects Jess's lyrics in depicting two dancers grappling with trauma in the form of black liquid that engulfs them."
Describing the video, one of it's directors, Eleanor Hardwick explains "we wanted to represent trauma as an oozing black liquid, much like Hippocrates' four humours. Trauma to me is something like a stain, that is often transferred between beings who pass it on to one another like a disease that cannot be removed. So for the video, we wanted to use choreography to look at two opposing ways one can deal with the trauma that is transferred onto you: by fighting to undo the past, and trying to remove a stain that has already made its mark on you - versus taking that stain and accepting that it will become your future; not denying it, nor being defined by it, but continuing on in despite of it, and using that trauma to your advantage."

While the band's Jessica Weiss describes the sense of trauma tackled in the song as "the undefinable anxiety and damage that all of us suffer at some point at the hands of another. It's how we deal with it that defines us...To me, dealing with trauma is not about looking back, it's about taking that experience and putting it under your own control, letting it become a part of you." For her, the song is about "empowerment through taking control."
The band has also announced a full US tour in the summer and an EU tour in the fall. All dates below.

MUDCRUTCH'S NEW ALBUM '2' OUT TODAY ON REPRISE RECORDS NATIONAL TOUR KICKS OFF MAY 26TH

MUDCRUTCH'S NEW ALBUM '2' OUT TODAY ON REPRISE RECORDS NATIONAL TOUR KICKS OFF MAY 26TH "The new album is as fiery and romantic as a youthful tryst, a rock 'n' roll experience unsullied by the inevitable passage of time and unspoiled by the burden of experience...as vital as a band a third it's age" - Boston Globe "Classic Petty - rollicking, anthemic roots rock, built around the veteran singer-songwriter's unmistakable voice and the impressive musical interplay between his bandmates." - Rolling Stone "The group that once carried Petty to stardom is now taking a victory lap, sifting through its past and basking in belated grace." - NPR "'Picks up where the debut left off, with trace elements of Southern swampiness mingling with sun-kissed West Coast mellowness." - Chicago Tribune "Impossible to resist choruses" - American Songwriter "Superb songwriting"- Consequence of Sound Mudcrutch's highly anticipated forthcoming album is out today. is turning out to be much more than a sequel to the band's eponymous 2008 debut and a classic in its own right. The album premiered on NPR's First Listen and is receiving stellar reviews across the board. Mudcrutch was initially formed in 1970 in Gainesville, Florida and is the precursor to the legendary Tom Petty & The Heartbreakers. Tom Petty (bass/vocals), Tom Leadon (guitar/vocals), Benmont Tench (keyboards/vocals), Mike Campbell (guitar/vocals), and Randall Marsh (drums/vocals) make up the band's current line up. In 1974, Mudcrutch was signed to Shelter Records and moved to Los Angeles where they released one single, "Depot Street," to very little fanfare. The band broke up in 1975 and could have settled for being a legend, but instead Mudcrutch rose from the ashes in 2008 to remind us that the golden age of rock and roll bands still have a few treasures to unearth. Their debut, made some thirty-three years later, was an unexpected hit. Longtime Tom Petty and the Heartbreakers fans will rejoice in hearing lead vocals by Mike Campbell and Benmont Tench, as every member of the band wrote and sings lead on at least one song. The album includes seven originals written by Tom Petty, including lead single 'Trailer,' which Stereogum lauded as "a quintessential Tom Petty song full of yearning and nostalgia over the twangiest of guitars, soulful harmonica, and subdued drums." Purchase and/or stream '2' at the following links:AmazoniTunesSpotifyApple Music Mudcrutch begins their first tour of the US with rock and roll newcomers The Shelters as openers. Below are tour dates for Mudcrutch: Monday, May 23, 2016 Northridge, CA @ Plaza Del Sol (Benefit For The Midnight Mission)Tuesday, May 24, 2016 Northridge, CA @ Plaza Del Sol (Benefit For The Midnight Mission)Thursday, May 26, 2016 Denver, CO @ Ogden TheaterSaturday, May 28, 2016 Chicago, IL @ The Riviera TheatreSunday, May 29, 2016 Chillicothe, IL  @ Summer Camp Music Festival Tuesday, May 31, 2016 Nashville, TN @ Ryman AuditoriumThursday, June 2, 2016 Atlanta, GA @ TabernacleFriday, June 3, 2016  Cincinnati, OH @ Bunbury Music FestivalMonday, June 6, 2016 Washington DC @ 9:30 ClubTuesday, June 7, 2016 Philadelphia, PA @ The FillmoreFriday, June 10, 2016 New York, NY @ Webster HallSaturday, June 11, 2016 New York, NY @ Webster HallTuesday, June 14, 2016 Port Chester, NY  @ Capitol TheaterWednesday, June 15, 2016 Boston, MA @ House of BluesSunday, June 19, 2016 San Francisco, CA @ The FillmoreMonday, June 20, 2016 San Francisco, CA @ The FillmoreWednesday, June 22, 2016 Oakland, CA @ The Fox TheatreSaturday, June 25, 2016 Los Angeles, CA @ The Fonda TheatreSunday, June 26, 2016 Los Angeles, CA @ The Fonda TheatreTuesday, June 28, 2016 Santa Ana, CA @ The ObservatoryThursday, June 30, 2016 San Diego, CA @ Humphreys

Australian bluesman CW Stoneking's "The Thing I Done" premieres at PopMatters + tour dates!

KING HOKUM RECORDS

WEST COAST TOUR DATES CONFIRMED

“immaculate, old-world musicianship”—Rolling Stone
“Stoneking’s delivery is indistinct but beautiful in the way Tom Waits’s growl can be beautiful.”
The Guardian
“The Australian’s authentic early blues sound…only adds to the impression that, somehow, he is the real McCoy.”—The Age
“Classic electric chicken grease chords, a three-piece backup harmony, rhythmic bass and claps fitting for a jitterbug or bouncy two-step combine for a feel reminiscent of early Ray Charles.”
—Stereogum
PopMatters is premiering the track “The Thing I Done” from  Gon’ Boogaloo , the upcoming third full-length album from ARIA Award-winning Australian artist C.W. Stoneking (out June 3 on his own King Hokum Records). Stream/share the track at http://popm.at/22hs7cP.
In celebration of the forthcoming release Stoneking has added a run of west coast dates to his first ever North American tour, including stops at the Vancouver Folk FestivalPickathon and Chicago’s Do Division Festival. See below for a list of dates.
Hailing from Australia’s remote Northern Territory, Stoneking grew up listening to gospel, ragtime and Chicago blues, citing American musicians including Son House, Robert Johnson, Skip James and Bukka White among his earliest influences. “When I first heard it I thought it was kinda funny music,” Stoneking explains, “because it was so deconstructed and not really adhering to any rules that I’d been told music [should] fit into.” The Guardian notes that “you get the impression that he is so completely immersed in the era of the earliest folk recordings that his shambling, clattering sound is a default setting, not an artistic choice. Hearing Stoneking perform live is, somehow, like listening to an old ‘78 recovered from a dusty attic in New Orleans.”
Stoneking’s debut album, 2006’s King Hokum, garnered extensive critical praise in his native Australia. ABC Radio National’s “Breakfast” named it the 2006 Album of the Year and it was nominated for Best Blues/Roots Album at the ARIA Music Awards. His follow-up, 2008’s Jungle Blues, won the ARIA for Best Blues/Roots Album and was nominated for Best Independent Release, Best Male Artist and Best Album Cover Art. The album was also shortlisted for the Australian Music Prize and saw Stoneking perform the tracks “Jungle Blues” and “Jungle Lullaby” on “Later…with Jools Holland” during his European tour.

LUNA LONG PLAYERS: '92 - '99
6 x LP Boxed Set
Out Today On Captured Tracks
In 1992, Dean Wareham followed the posthumous buzz of Galaxie 500 by forming a new band: Luna. Initially joined by Justin Harwood (of the Chills) and Stanley Demeski (of the Feelies), the group went on to sign to Elektra Records, tour with the Velvet Underground, collaborate with Tom Verlaine and Sterling Morrison and ultimately release five stunning albums over the course of the 90’s.

Deemed “the best band you’ve never heard of” by Rolling Stone, Luna remained under the radar for most of their career despite gathering a rabid cult following. It’s not hard to see why this is the case, as the three albums featuring the original lineup (plus guitarist Sean Eden on the latter two) act as a perfect synthesis of the members past bands, blending the simplicity of Galaxie, the heavenly pop melodies of the Chills and the quick and intensely precise drumming of the Feelies into one fluid package.

This box set gathers together those five albums from the 90’s,  Lunapark  (1992),  Bewitched  (1994),  Penthouse  (1995),  Pup Tent  (1997), and  The Days of Our Nights  (1999),  a collection which in total would ultimately cost $400+ on the open market. Exclusive to the box set is a sixth LP entitled  Rarities a compilation of demos and B-sides recorded contemporaneously. Accompanying the records is a 12×12 book featuring archival imagery, an interview with Dean Wareham conducted by Noah Baumbach and an oral history with the band and their producers, all housed in a beautiful textured canvas box. As the majority of these records were never released on vinyl outside of limited pressings, this is a boon to longtime fans and new listeners alike.
