"Think of a transcendentally twisted fairy tale from hell in beautiful chaos, and you’re right there with Collapsing Scenery" -Flaunt
"[Metaphysical Cops'] accompanying video, realized by Collapsing Scenery's multi-instrumentalist and sound artist Don Devore, reflects the tension within the song through visual abstraction and disorientation." -Purple
"[Metaphysical Cops] opens with an 8-bit feel that could serve as a dark backdrop for an early ’90s fighting/adventure game with Debris’ smooth, breathy vocals sitting on top. Then things get trippy, becoming much more ambient and chaotic with huge atmospheric sweeps and whomping sequences. Get ready for a hell of a ride." -Stereogum
Collapsing Scenery’s music and creative process represent the world as the band wishes the world were: playful, polyglot, intense, committed, politically engaged, free, open, and without boundaries or hierarchies.C.S. formed in the terrible autumn of 2013, under a pall of paranoia and disgust, as predator missiles rained on Middle Eastern heads and each day brought news of further surveillance of innocents and more aggressive pursuit of those who had the nerve to inform us about it.Against this backdrop, erstwhile collaborators Don De Vore and Reggie Debris put aside the stringed instruments on which they’d first learned to play music and on which they were comfortable and versed, and assembled an impressive pile of analog electronics: samplers, step sequencers, synths and drum machines, all supplemented by effects pedals usually applied to guitars. From the largely improvised sessions, many accompanied by drummer Ryan Rapsys, the seeds of songs began their germination. Lyrics that Debris had been amassing over years of political rage and frustration began to find their homes when paired with ad-libbed instrumentals. Melodies and cadences alchemically emerged as the words settled into their natural rhythmic patterns. These elements create dizzying music that by turns touches on punk, industrial, techno, hip-hop, free jazz, soul, disco, folk balladry, and whatever other spirits happen to inhabit the recording studio at any given moment.

EXPLODED VIEW - New Band Fronted by Anika Premiere New Single Orlando; Announce Self-Titled Debut Album
EXPLODED VIEW
ANNOUNCE DEBUT SELF-TITLED ALBUM DUE AUGUST 19 VIA SACRED BONES
PREMIERE NEW TRACK 'ORLANDO' VIA FACT MAG
(Photo credit: Andrea Martin)"While ‘No More Parties’ reflected the sort of roughness you’d expect from an entirely improvised album, the new ‘Orlando’ takes a much more subtle and delicate approach. Over an eerie guitar shimmer and drum shuffle, Henderson delivers wistful, haunting vocals that lock right into the tense groove. It’s a testament to their chemistry and a good reason to keep an eye out for their debut this summer." - FACT MAG “No More Parties..wavers in thrilling intensity, but throughout, a consistent, piercing tick-tock counts down to the end of an era.” - Pitchfork “The group's lead singer, Anika, conjures the specter of Nico with her ethereal vocals.”
“A 5 Star Song” - NPR “The rhythm unchanging, the presence of the synths grow, building cold landscapes of nuclear winter, and green fields that sway in the wind of the mind are turned into steel shards that rattle and hum, crash and unnerve. A promising anthem for our future.” - IMPOSE
After recently signing to Sacred Bones Records, new four-piece Exploded View, fronted by German/Bristol political- journalist-turned-musician/singer Anika, announce news of their debut self-titled album, due August 17th. The band are sharing new track 'Orlando' from the forthcoming record. Please listen ‘Orlando’:
https://soundcloud.com/sacredbones/exploded-view-orlando
While lead single ‘No More Parties in The Attic’ is laden with an enticing no-wave, post-punk sound, layered with distorted guitars and ominous drones– ‘Orlando' chimes in with echoing vintage synths, courtesy of Hugo Quezada that clash with a chilly electro backbeat and an anthemic soulful bass line setting the tone. With her disarming quietude nursery rhyme like vocal delivery, Anika remarks on the creation process: “Well, that day I was speechless and empty; a reflection of the times. I became a vessel for the past; the only way to deal with or help understand the present. Enlightenment came with the help of some strong leading ladies; A certain author, a certain film and a certain actress. Go figure.”
The four musicians discovered a new sound, several steps removed from the krautrock-isms of Henderson’s previous work during their rehearsals and live performances in Mexico City. The straight to tape sessions that followed in the San Rafael neighborhood, ventured somewhere new; a lighter place, unguarded, veering from any script. Improvisation was the guiding principle and the source of the band’s inspiration. The studio itself was outfitted so that every sound produced in the room would be recorded. A Tascam 388 8-track captured everything – fully live, fully improvised, first-takes only. Produced by Thulin and Quezada and mastered by Josh Bonati in NYC. Exploded View (Jessy Bulbo / Nos llamamos) to form Hector Melgarejo(Robota) and Riotboy sweetheart Hugo Quezada (Crocodiles producer) synth-head Martin Thulin to critical acclaim in 2010. ANNOUNCE DEBUT SELF-TITLED ALBUM DUE AUGUST 19 VIA SACRED BONES
PREMIERE NEW TRACK 'ORLANDO' VIA FACT MAG

Go figure.”

The Last Shadow Puppets Share Music Video for 'Miracle Aligner'

North American Live Dates in July and August

"The compilation of songs on Everything You've Come To Expect is electrifying. This is proof that Alex Turner has still got it, brilliant." - MXDWN"While both Turner and Kane have stockpiled accolades on their own, there is definitely a dark, creative menace that ignites when they collaborate...The lyrics, devilishly wedded to their echo-chamber-laden arrangements and sneering Bowie-esque croons, play like coded spells set to music." - All Music

David J (Bauhaus) presents his tribute to David Bowie, out June 10
[image error]DAVID J WITH FEDERALE AND FRIENDS: The Day That David Bowie Died 10"
A RECORDINGS (UK) / AUK 125EP
release date: 6/10/2016
list price: $15.98DESCRIPTION
David J (of Bauhaus and Love and Rockets), Portland band Federale (including Collin Hegna of The Brian Jonestown Massacre), and friends present a tribute to David Bowie. David J recalls how it happened: "As with every David Bowie album from Hunky Dory on, I purchased Blackstar on the day of its release. I was on tour at the time and had set aside the evening of Saturday, January 9 to immerse myself in it (post show) via headphones in the dark, dark basement of that night's venue, an old house in suburban Seattle. The album blew me away. Once again Bowie had dared to dive into wild unchartered territory and it was thrilling to tag along. The following day I travelled by train to Portland having booked a recording session there on the Monday. That night David Bowie left the planet. In a state of shock I played the new album for the second time. Now with an entirely different perspective. Listening to it in that very weird, poignant and strangely exalted state I was struck by the notion that Bowie had created an incredibly complex and layered swan song and had, in effect, transformed his death into an astonishing work of art. By the time the final track came on I was weeping copiously. Those tears needed somewhere to go. They ended up in a song. One that simply poured out of me. I recorded it the next day. (Props to Revolver Studio owner and engineer Collin Hegna for assembling such a great group of musicians at such short notice in order to fully realize the work at hand.)" --David J, 2016TRACKLISTING
