"The duo deliver a faithful, but blistering cover of "Problems" alongside Matlock and Cook, with Liguz injecting her melodic vocal turn with plenty of Johnny Rotten-esque snottiness." – Rolling Stone
“What a performance!” – Eddie Vedder (Pearl Jam)
“Bags of attitude. There ain’t enough of this in the world right now.” – Mani (The Stone Roses, Primal Scream)

UK duo SSHH is joining forces with some of the most influential rhythm sections in history to come up with a collection of covers titled ISSUES – because all bands have them. The debut album from singer Sshh Liguz and guitarist Zak Starkey, also known as a drummer for Oasis and The Who and son of Ringo, includes a whole host of special guests to weave together a genre-bending strut through the last five decades of music. The first taste of ISSUES is the Sex Pistols revival “Problems,” featuring original Pistols bassist and drummer Glen Matlock and Paul Cook, respectively, and it’s certain that the rest of the Pistols would not be disappointed.

ISSUES is a modern homage to all of the epic bands that made SSHH what they are today. The idea behind the record was simple. Zak and Sshh had been asked to do a radio series on SiriusXM, chatting through the music that has influenced them. But why not go a step further? Why not find the original rhythm sections from those bands and play with them? Why not make an album in the process?
The first call went out to Glen Matlock and Paul Cook, the bass and drums, the meat and veg of the Sex Pistols. If they were up for it, everyone would be up for it, and they were. And thus, during the last week of November in Los Angeles, the project began. Clem Burke, Blondie’s drummer, turned up in the studio on day one to cut an unorthodox “One Way or Another”. Day two, Marilyn Manson’s rhythm men, Twiggy Ramirez and Gil Sharone, arrived for their turn. Fellow musicians Santa Davis and Fully Fullwood (of Peter Tosh’s Word, Sound and Power) also came forward and re-recorded Tosh’s original version of “Get Up Stand Up”, with an added touch from Eddie Vedder.

Second Single from Beyond Now, New Album Set for October 14 Release
McCaslin & Co Kicks Off U.S. Tour Next WeekKnown as "David Bowie's Last Band" - The New Yorker/WNYC
"Donny McCaslin Was David Bowie's David Bowie" - The Nation
New York, NY - September 9, 2016 - One week ahead of their U.S. tour, saxophonist Donny McCaslin and his band, featured on David Bowie's Blackstar, have shared a new track from their upcoming album,
Beyond Now
. Set for October 14 release on Motéma Music, the album is dedicated to and inspired by Bowie.
Today, Rolling Stone premieres "Warszawa," McCaslin's all-instrumental cover of the song co-written by Bowie and Brian Eno from Bowie's 1977 release Low. Recorded nearly three months after Bowie's passing, the cover and Beyond Now are deeply influenced by the band's extraordinary experience collaborating with one of the greatest artists of all-time on his final album.
Comprised of core Blackstar personnel, bassist Tim Lefebvre (Tedeschi Trucks Band, Saturday Night Live), drummer Mark Guiliana (Meshell Ndegeocello, Brad Mehldau), and Jason Lindner (Now Vs Now) along with guitarist Nate Wood and producer David Binney, Beyond Now 's repertoire is expansive, featuring Bowie songs, covers of Deadmau5, MUTEMATH, and the Chainsmokers, as well as compelling McCaslin originals including the title composition, inspired by a song McCaslin recorded for Blackstar that didn't make the album.
The once in a lifetime opportunity to work with David Bowie came after composer Maria Schneider, a longtime collaborator, recommended McCaslin and his group to Bowie. Schneider and Bowie were collaborating on the track "Sue (Or in a Season of Crime)," which featured McCaslin as a soloist. In June 2014, Bowie heeded Schneider's advice and made a visit to hear McCaslin and company at the 55 Bar in Greenwich Village. Soon after, Bowie began corresponding with McCaslin over email and sending music, forming a new collaboration and friendship that transpired through the recording of Blackstar until Bowie's passing. The result is B eyond Now , which documents "David Bowie's Last Band" as they were processing both their grief and Bowie's distinctive impact.

CHRISSIE HYNDE TEAMS WITH DAN AUERBACH

The Pretenders has announced the release of its long-awaited new album. ALONE (BMG) arrives everywhere on October 21 and is available for pre-order now, with all orders joined by an instant grat download of the album's electrifying first single, "Holy Commotion." The complete album tracklisting is below.
LISTEN TO "HOLY COMMOTION" HERE
ALONE was recorded with The Black Keys' Dan Auerbach at his Easy Eye Studio in Nashville and mixed by Tchad Blake (The Black Keys, Elvis Costello, Richard Thompson). The album was initially conceived as follow-up to legendary bandleader Chrissie Hynde's acclaimed 2014 solo debut, STOCKHOLM, but as its songs and sonics took shape, the collection soon revealed itself as the first all new Pretenders LP since 2008's BREAK UP THE CONCRETE. ALONE sees the one and only Hynde backed by a team of what she proudly calls "real people playing real instruments," helmed by the multi-talented Auerbach and featuring Nashville session luminaries including bassist Dave Roe (Johnny Cash, Loretta Lynn, Sturgill Simpson), pedal steel pioneer Russ Pahl (Blake Shelton, Don Williams, Luke Bryan), and guitarist Kenny Vaughan (Marty Stuart & His Fabulous Superlatives, Lana Del Rey, Ray LaMontagne), as well as keyboardist Leon Michels and drummer Richard Swift - both charter members of Auerbach's adventurous garage rock combo The Arcs. Hynde and Auerbach made for ideal foils, two idiosyncratic songwriter/musicians each possessing a deep knowledge and even deeper love of rock 'n' roll, both of course hailing from the City of Invention itself, Akron, Ohio. Though neither remain, Akron continues to inform both artists' work, the Rubber City's long history of progressivism and ingenuity, hard work and musical experimentation, are all very much present in their first full-length collaboration. ALONE indeed bears all the trademarks of the Pretenders' legendary canon - raw and rollicking riffs, poignant balladry, taut hooks and indelible melodies, all in service of Hynde's heartworn, ever-unsentimental songcraft. Nearly four decades on from The Pretenders' epochal 1980 debut album, Hynde's instantly identifiable voice is perhaps more emotional, more aggressive than at any other time in her career as all the vocals were recorded in 48 hours. That extra bit of edge only serves to add fire to new Pretenders classics like the brutally candid "I Hate Myself" and the defiant title track, a spiky rocker that sees Hynde extolling the joys and virtues of solitude. "We were in the studio hanging out," Hynde says, "and the guys were talking about their families and their wives and I said, 'Well, I do everything alone. I go to the cinema alone. I go to restaurants alone. I live alone. I pretty much do everything on my own. I don't mind.' Dan says, 'Write a song about it.' "The more I thought about it," she continues, "I thought, I've heard 1,000 songs in my life, they're all about, I am so tired of being alone. I can't live without you. Since you've left my world has fallen apart. When am I going to see you again? Marry me and be with me for the rest of my life. I have never heard anyone celebrate being alone in a song. I couldn't think of one."
Other highlights include "Roadie Man," a softly sung paean to the hard working touring crew that has been kicking around Hynde's unrecorded songbook for more than 25 years, the seductive "Let's Get Lost" (co-written with songwriting superstars Amanda Ghost and Dave McCracken), and "Never Be Together," featuring an inimitable contribution from legendary twang bar hero Duane Eddy. "As soon as you hear one note you know who it is," says Hynde. 'I don't get real excited about vintage guitars and stuff, but I do if someone else is playing them that brilliantly." ALONE marks Hynde's first musical effort since her extraordinary 2015 memoir,
RECKLESS: MY LIFE AS A PRETENDER
, hailed by the New York Times upon its release as "honest and distinctive...first and foremost, a love letter to rock and roll." "RECKLESS is more than a well-written, thoughtful memoir," raved the Huffington Post. "It's a cultural history of the rock scene in the 60s and early 70s, told by an astute observer who, perhaps unwittingly, reminds readers that improbable dreams can come true." Hynde "(writes) with the sort of candor and humor rarely found in bookss," declared the Boston Globe, noting, "Bad girls sometimes finish first." "(Hynde] writes just like she lives," wrote the Daily Beast, "and just like she makes music. She does it her way, which is an inimitable multiplicity of things: impulsive, untamed, ragged, proud." The Pretenders begin a North American tour with Stevie Nicks on October 25 at Phoenix, AZ's Talking Stick Arena and ending December 18 at The Forum in Inglewood, CA. The complete tour dates are below. An AMEX pre-order begins today at 10am ET. VIP tickets will be available. All tickets can be purchased via ticketmaster.com. THE PRETENDERS

Public Access T.V. Share New Video For 'End of an Era'

Public Access T.V. Share New Video For 'End of an Era' Public Access T.V. are happy to share their brand new video for 'End of an Era,' a track taken from their debut album Never Enough , out on Friday, September 30th on Cinematic. Watch here Speaking on the track and video, filmed in the band's base of New York, they explain: We've been told playing in a rock & roll band in 2016 is a ridiculous thing to do. For all of us though, it isn't a question of wanting to do it or not. We have to do it. I left home and quit school at 16 to play music. Music is all we know and love and this song is an ode to us following that path. The label wanted David LaChapelle to do this one, especially 'cause it's the pop sugar injection song and, they hope, a little pot of radio-friendly unit-shifting gold. But, we said 'nah give us your money and we'll do it ourselves'. So we took their money and bought a 1986 Dodge 600 and a mini DV cam and did what we normally do - but for your voyeuristic pleasure. The band will be playing on Friday, September 23rd in NYC @ Mercury Lounge. Leopold and His Fiction Release New Song + Video "Cowboy"
Leopold and His Fiction Release New Single + Video “
Cowboy
”via
VEVO

Kick Off Global Tour
Darling Destroyer Coming Early 2017
The newly Austin-based Leopold and His Fiction have released single “ Cowboy ” today along with a visual accompaniment via VEVO . The video mirrors the self-mythologizing swagger of the track and relives the excitement of classic crime dramas. The vivid, filmic “Cowboy” jumps seamlessly between nostalgia and modernism. Frontman Daniel Leopold says of the video, “it is an introduction to the album as a whole”. When asked about the video’s theme, Daniel comments, “as composed and set in their ways an individual can be they have to be ready to compromise when called upon to do so. Sometimes it’s pulled off other times it’s not.”
In addition to the new single and video, the band has kicked off on a global tour this week with stops in New Orleans, London, Hamburg, and more including a hometown show in Austin, Texas. Leopold and His Fiction combine gritty ingenuity with delicately crated lyrics and blistering guitar work to bring the audience an impactful performance.
Daniel was born and raised in Detroit where he first began playing music. He then moved to California to study writing where he started crafting songs for the first time – combining years of practice on the guitar with his literary inclinations. Releasing their self-titled debut in 2006, Leopold and His Fiction built up a reputation as a powerful live act and landed gigs supporting ZZ Top, Gary Clark Jr., and Dr. Dog. Between their sophomore release Ain’t No Surprise and 2012’s 3, Daniel co-founded the folk outfit Cowboy and Indian, and spent several years touring. He has now returned to Leopold and His Fiction and is revisiting his approach to songwriting, straying from his novelistic tendencies. You can expect the upcoming album to be the band’s most dynamic yet.

Kan Wakan unveils lead single ‘MOLASSES’
KAN WAKAN
Unveils lead single ‘MOLASSES’https://soundcloud.com/kanwakan/molasses-3~ off Kan Wakan’s sophomore Triple-LP entitled “Phantasmagoria” due out Spring 2017Kan Wakan is Gueorgui Linev, the producer, film composer, synthesizer scientist, songwriter, and multi-instrumentalist whose full-length debut ‘Moving On,’ dissolves the genre- breaking electronica of Massive Attack, Air and Zero 7 into a bottomless sea of 20th century minimalism, psychedelic soul and ambient atmosphere. It’s been two years since the release of the highly acclaimed ‘Moving On,’ which was mentioned in countless Best of Year lists, but 2016 will mark a new chapter for the LA- based, Bulgarian musician who was recently named in the LA Weekly as “One Of The Top 10 Young Songwriters In Los Angeles”. With new single, ‘Molasses’ and triple-LP ‘Phantasmagoria’ soon on the way, this marks the first time Linev has incorporated multiple guest vocalists. Having produced music for and worked with the likes of Moses Sumney, Sofia Philharmonic Orchestra, & Thundercat it was time to incorporate a few collaborations of his own with close friend Elle Olsun providing ethereal vocals for debut new single Molasses.Inspired by a recent trip back to his birthplace in Sofia, Bulgaria, Linev wrote Molasses on his grandmother’s piano just days after she had been taken to the hospital in a coma.“Molasses is allowing the weight to fall with a hope, a self-heartened embrace of the burgeoning we see before us. A clearing and a rising fog, that moment when we take stock of our surroundings and realize we have changed.”"Molasses"marries the soft ease of Zero7 with the production style of Massive Attack. Featuring snaking vocals from Elle Olsun, it writhes through hypnotic melodies, striking pianos, and even a harmonica solo." - INDIE SHUFFLE“So sweet, that it’s like a sugar rush pulsing through your system” – NYLON“It’shighlylikelythatbeatproductionwillbecomeanOlympiceventby2024atthe latest, and native born son Kan Wakan (born Gueorgui Linev) already is in gold medal form.” - PASSION OF THE WEISS“Mixing different genres in a song is definitely a difficult endeavor, however when done well, very original, experimental vibes can becreated, and here with LA-based producer Kan Wakan’s new single, “Molasses”, we have exactly that.” - HILLY DILLY“Kan Wakan returns with a stunning (and at one juncture, surprising) single, “Molasses”, the first new music since that 2014 album we swooned over. New Album A Loud Bash Of Teenage FeelingsOut September 23rd On Polyvinyl Records
On Tour Now
Philadelphia's Beach Slang will be releasing their new album, A Loud Bash Of Teenage Feelings , out this September 23rd on Polyvinyl Records, and today, the band have shared the video for their single "Atom Bomb." Noisey premiered the bombastic track, calling it "the fastest rager from A Loud Bash of Teenage Feelings."
Stream "Atom Bomb"
Beach Slang's second full-length is a crash-and-thunder collection of songs about what it takes to keep yourself going, to make it through the rest of the night-hell, through the rest of your youth-and beyond. Frontman James Alex wrote much of A Loud Bash Of Teenage Feelings on their first album's support tour, during which he spent a lot of time with the kids who'd picked up the record.
The band previously shared the song "Punks in Disco Bar". The video was described by NPR as "...a glimpse into what it's like to be young, misunderstood and out of place, yet finding belonging in each other. It's the perfect complement to "Punks In A Disco Bar" and an ode to the motifs and life-affirming mission of Beach Slang." Watch it HERE.
Nice things said about "Punks in a Disco Bar";"The song will certainly be instantly recognizable to fans of the band's previous work, with the same never-caring, heart-punching, loud-things-loving lyrics and thick Minneapolis-style riffing of Beach Slang's debut LP - if a touch wearier than last time out." - Spin
"the heart-on-the-sleeve punks have already become the kind of band that fans rush to get tattooed all over their bodies. Well, those fans had better make room for some new ink..." - Consequence of Sound
"We need endorphin-heavy, heart-on-sleeve, major-chord, grin-inducing punk rock right now. I mean we need it. There's a goddamn duty of care: punk has to hold people to account and spit against authority, but sometimes you need to smile like an idiot and let go." - Noisey
"This new track seeps with feelings of youth and their accompanying frustration. Very punk guitar drowns the entire two minutes and 41 seconds, and the vocals don't hold anything back. It's just what you'd expect from a song called "Punks In A Disco Bar," and that's not a bad thing." WXPN
