Additionally, Die Antwoord will be providing the first 200 people with a CD purchase of the album from Amoeba Records in Los Angeles free access to the Jimmy Kimmel Live! performance. Brooklyn DIY genre-benders Dinowalrus have unleashed the second track from their upcoming LP: the synth-psych-gaze “Light Rain” is now streaming exclusively via new site CLRVYNT, along with an in-depth feature on frontman Pete Feigenbaum’s take on physical media as a recording artist.

The track is featured on their upcoming studio album, FAIRWEATHER, a spacey exploration of vivid sonic vivacity, due September 23. The track is driven by a pulsing krautrock beat and, like much of the album, could be described as the sonic and lyrical equivalent of a light spectacle - “Life rushes by when I stand still,” sings Pete Feigenbaum. Along with flowing synths and electronic beats, it also harkens back to classic rock n’ roll as it ends with a driving guitar solo.
Although heavily dosed with electronics, FAIRWEATHER contrasts the dystopian industrial arpeggiators of their previous albums with a warm, timeless palette of organs, looped breakbeats, and radio-ready vocals, including the occasional psychedelic flourish of reversed guitars and exploding delay trails. As a result, the music moves forward by looking back, bringing to mind the work of contemporaries like Jagwar Ma, Tame Impala, and Deerhunter, while also incorporating some of the more exciting and psychedelic pop sounds of the early ’90s Creation Records back catalog with aesthetic nods to The House of Love, Primal Scream, and Ride.
Dinowalrus will be playing a hometown release show at Rough Trade NYC on September 25 (tickets available here). The band will be joined by Sharkmuffin, Dead Leaf Echo, and Drawing Boards.

Before The Flood Has Its World Premiere Today At Toronto International Film FestivalTrent Reznor, Atticus Ross, Gustavo Santaolalla and Mogwai have created music for the feature documentary Before the Flood . The film, a call to action from longtime environmental advocate Leonardo DiCaprio and actor/filmmaker/Oscar-winning documentary producer Fisher Stevens (The Cove, Racing Extinction), will have its world premiere today at the Toronto International Film Festival. Acting as music supervisors for the first time, Reznor and Ross worked in tandem with Santaolalla and Mogwai to compose a blend of music with a cohesive vision, resulting in the score for Before the Flood along with an album to be released in October. Details to follow. "The incredible music composed for Before the Flood was one of the most unique collaborations I can think of in scoring a film," said Fisher Stevens. "Reznor, Ross, Santaolalla and Mogwai become one voice in capturing the emotion and feeling of Leonardo DiCaprio's journey to understanding where we stand in terms of climate change, how far gone we are, what can we do about solving this issue and why people are still resistant to understanding how important it is." Before the Flood will be in theaters in New York City and Los Angeles beginning October 21. The film will air globally - in 171 countries and 45 languages - on the National Geographic Channel starting October 30. ###

This is the follow up to their critically acclaimed self-titled debut. The album is available now on iTunes, Apple Music, Amazon, GooglePlay, and streaming on Spotify. The band previously released two tracks from the album, their #1 Alt Radio hit single (in Canada) "Push + Pull" and the dynamically soothing and somber "Strange Habit." "Thematically, Touch has been inspired by our human experience over the past few years, just as much as our time spent as a band on the road," notes songwriter and vocalist, Leah Fay. "Touring constantly provides a strange view of the world because you're in transit more often than you're still. We became sensitive to the varying reactions we'd get from any given audience depending on the cultural norms and politics of a place. Because humans love to categorize in an effort to understand, Peter and I were often perceived as these opposing forces, representing "light vs. darkness", "female vs. male", "sweet vs. scary" blah blah blah, with each of us just dying to get a word in edgewise. These types of assumptions had a massive influence on the way we wrote the lyrics for this album because we knew we didn't want to feed into that sort of boring archetype. "They have the...certain ne sais quoi it takes to be goddamn massive, and my money's on them headlining festivals across North America within the next five years." - Consequence of Sound July Talk's sophomore album, Touch , is out today on Island/Universal (US and UK/Europe) and Sleepless Records (Canada.) This is the follow up to their critically acclaimed self-titled debut. The album is available now on iTunes, Apple Music, Amazon, GooglePlay, and streaming on Spotify. The band previously released two tracks from the album, their #1 Alt Radio hit single (in Canada) "Push + Pull" and the dynamically soothing and somber "Strange Habit." "Thematically, Touch has been inspired by our human experience over the past few years, just as much as our time spent as a band on the road," notes songwriter and vocalist, Leah Fay. "Touring constantly provides a strange view of the world because you're in transit more often than you're still. We became sensitive to the varying reactions we'd get from any given audience depending on the cultural norms and politics of a place. Because humans love to categorize in an effort to understand, Peter and I were often perceived as these opposing forces, representing "light vs. darkness", "female vs. male", "sweet vs. scary" blah blah blah, with each of us just dying to get a word in edgewise. These types of assumptions had a massive influence on the way we wrote the lyrics for this album because we knew we didn't want to feed into that sort of boring archetype. We became drawn to the idea of what it actually means to be a living breathing human. It's messy and visceral and unpredictable." Full track listing is below.
