Last week, Waterhouse unveiled the lead single, "Katchi" off of the upcoming album. The track features his pal Leon Bridges and riffs on Bridges' family name for a massage - "Katchi." "Leon and I were in Fort Worth hanging out at a friend's place getting massages. He was laying on the table while I strummed the chords, bare chested, he shouted out "she give me KATCHI!"... His mother's old Louisiana Indian term for 'loving touch'. We rode it out and next thing we know we had a straight cruiser," Waterhouse told The Fader.

With Never Twice, Nick Waterhouse returned to his original collaborator, producer Michael McHugh (Black Lips, Ty Segall, Allah-Las). McHugh was a local legend in the oft-underrated Orange County music scene that Nick grew up in. McHugh was the first person to ever put Nick on tape and in an effort to re-capture the vibrancy of the Huntington Beach scene of Nick's youth, he invited McHugh up to his current home of San Francisco to work the boards once again. Once he had McHugh on board, Nick began cold-calling his favorite players, all of whom miraculously said yes. Jazz musician Bob Kenmotsu's contributed flute, Tom Waits and Elvis Costello collaborator Ralph Carney on sax, Dr. Lonnie Smith protege Will Blades on Organ and a virtual whose who of muso legends on horns, bass and guitar. The result is an exuberant and impeccably recorded album of songs, showcasing Waterhouse's prowess as a musician and a band-leader.
PRAISE FOR NICK WATERHOUSE
"The verses are built on the feet-shuffling groove of jazzy drums and keys as Waterhouse bewails his life's stagnation ... He refuses to sit still for long, however, as the funky refrain kicks everything into fifth gear with driving guitar riffs that bring to mind classic rhythm and blues bandstands, all decked in golds and blacks and blues." - Consequence of Sound
"Swoony vocals that recall jazz singers like Cab Calloway and Jack Jones, Waterhouse has been hailed as the second coming of soul, infusing a distinctly California surf-rock spin to the genre.'- VOGUE"Waterhouse's show of intensity arrived through an incendiary combo of momentum-building saxophones...riding a grand, Spector-esque wave, punctuated with start-and-stop pacing, a love of musical space and Waterhouse's utilitarian voice singing structured three-minute rockers." - Los Angeles Times
"Waterhouse straddles the line between rock grit and smooth, sultry R&B. It's sexy, it's smart, and it's definitely worth another round in a bar in the middle of a dark and stormy night."- Esquire

Nashville's Savoy Motel are an intensely orchestrated and unique hybrid of glam rock, boogie, soul, power-pop, garage, punk, dance music and showmanship all rolled into one. Between the four members (Jeffrey Novak, Jessica McFarland, Mimi Galbierz and Dillon Watson) they've previously played in hometown staples like Cheap Time, Heavy Cream and Rat Traps. The four piece hit the road this fall with The Dandy Warhols in support of Savoy Motel - full list of dates below, more TBA.Savoy's whole package opens up their horizons, and yours, to a sound made by four friends tired of witnessing music eat its own tail; with unclouded judgment, creative refinements, and peerless technique, they grab that tail and stick it into a wall socket, putting the cap back on 15+ years of rock revivalism and strident genre adherence. And they make it seem easy.
"We use rock and roll as a vehicle to reach and promote the feeling of TOTAL FREEDOM," claims Watson. "Savoy Motel is defined more by a feeling than a sound. I hear this feeling in other acts too ... Miles Davis, Little Richard, the Osborne Brothers, Faust, The Rolling Stones, all the best ones. And the diversity of records I knew TOTAL FREEDOM from was also encouraging to me early on in regards to the band, because it made me realize what potential and widespread appeal our music could have."

Kan Wakan unveils video for ‘MOLASSES’
KAN WAKAN
Unveils video for ‘MOLASSES’https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=ReNw76zpgSMPremieres on The Beat Magazine~ off Kan Wakan’s sophomore Triple-LP entitled “Phantasmagoria” due out Spring 2017Kan Wakan is Gueorgui Linev, the producer, film composer, synthesizer scientist, songwriter, and multi-instrumentalist whose full-length debut ‘Moving On,’ dissolves the genre- breaking electronica of Massive Attack, Air and Zero 7 into a bottomless sea of 20th century minimalism, psychedelic soul and ambient atmosphere. It’s been two years since the release of the highly acclaimed ‘Moving On,’ which was mentioned in countless Best of Year lists, but 2016 will mark a new chapter for the LA- based, Bulgarian musician who was recently named in the LA Weekly as “One Of The Top 10 Young Songwriters In Los Angeles”. With new single, ‘Molasses’ and triple-LP ‘Phantasmagoria’ soon on the way, this marks the first time Linev has incorporated multiple guest vocalists. Having produced music for and worked with the likes of Moses Sumney, Sofia Philharmonic Orchestra, & Thundercat it was time to incorporate a few collaborations of his own with close friend Elle Olsun providing ethereal vocals for debut new single Molasses.Inspired by a recent trip back to his birthplace in Sofia, Bulgaria, Linev wrote Molasses on his grandmother’s piano just days after she had been taken to the hospital in a coma.“Molasses is allowing the weight to fall with a hope, a self-heartened embrace of the burgeoning we see before us. A clearing and a rising fog, that moment when we take stock of our surroundings and realize we have changed.”WEBSITE http://www.kanwakan.com INSTAGRAM https://www.instagram.com/kanwakanFACEBOOK TWITTER SOUNDCLOUDhttps://www.facebook.com/kanwakan https://twitter.com/kanwakanhttps://soundcloud.com/kanwakan

SLOAN'S 'ONE CHORD TO ANOTHER' 20TH ANNIVERSARY FALL TOUR
SLOAN'S 'ONE CHORD TO ANOTHER' 20TH ANNIVERSARY FALL TOUR BEGINS SEPTEMBER 21ST TICKETS ON SALE NOW
Photo: Jannie McInnes Over the course of their 25 year career, the four songwriters in Sloan have amassed an outstanding collection of over 200 songs on eleven studio albums. Recently named one of Canada’s top five bands of all-time in a CBC critics poll, Sloan continue to write, record and tour well into their third decade together. 2016 marks the 20th anniversary of Sloan's best-selling album “One Chord To Another”. To celebrate, the band have taken to the road performing the classic album in its entirety before returning to the stage for a second full set of hits and fan favourites. It's an evening with Sloan not to be missed. “One Chord to Another” was a fiercely independent declaration from Sloan, whose career had all but come to a close after their sophomore release “Twice Removed”. It called attention to each of the band's four-songwriters while embracing classic studio techniques and a DIY approach. The album was first released on their own murderecords imprint before being picked up by The Enclave for release in the USA. It was awarded the Juno Award (Canadian music industry’s Grammy) for Best Alternative Album in 1996, and is Sloan’s top selling album to date. This year, Sloan are performing over 70 “One Chord To Another” shows across North America. Fall dates in Eastern Canada and across the United States are on sale now. Read the Noisey interview

Tancred (Jess Abbott) is excited to debut the music video for “Pens” today as she prepares to hit the road for the next three months, playing dates in the US And Europe in support of her critically acclaimed new album Out of The Garden (Polyvinyl Records). The music video for “Pens” was directed by Andrew Weinberg with Art Direction from Nicole Kugel, and aside from taking cues from Stranger Things and other horror movies, it features a cameo from Sadie Dupuis of Speedy Ortiz playing the role of evil incarnate. Upcoming tour dates and more on the video below.

“I based the video treatment entirely on the lyrics,” says Abbott. “I wanted to have my plain reality be slowly overcome by this shadowy underworld. I wanted evil to seem really seductive and just take me with it. But evil is still evil no matter how sexy it is so I still needed to die at the end. The directors, Adam and Nicole, created the abstract shots. We had a lot of calls about horror movies and shows, and of course we were writing this when Stranger Things came out so we were all inspired by the visuals in it.”
Produced by That Dog’s Anna Waronker and Off!/Redd Kross member Steven McDonald, Out of the Garden has been hailed as a “phenomenal” new album by NPR Music, with lead single “Sell My Head” being praised by Stereogum for how it “simmers with a uniquely bold energy”. “Out Of The Garden,” wrote THE FADER “is a full-on blast of power pop with an angry shadow behind it. Lead singer and songwriter Jess Abbott's voice sounds like it came straight out of 1999; she's got those perfect, subtly nasal pipes that sound like the sweetest, chewiest, most long-lasting bubblegum.”
Written over a two-year period during a break from touring, Out of the Garden’s emphasis on re-defining feminine expectations was shaped by primary songwriter Jess Abbott’s experiences living in Minneapolis and working at a liquor store in a rough part of town. “I learned how to speak up when I needed to and how to truly be myself without reservation,” Abbott recalls. “I felt afraid walking home at night, and after a couple of months I just got sick of it and started getting into self-defense and self-empowerment as a means of coping. Finding my own strength changed everything.”
After writing and tracking every song in her apartment, Abbott enlisted Kevin Medina and Terrence Vitali to add drums and bass to her demos. The band then traveled to LA to record with McDonald and Waronker. As a result, Out of the Garden showcases Tancred shedding its former skin in favor of a bolder and infinitely more confident sound. Says Abbott, “Out of the Garden represents doing what you want, what you need, without letting anything or anyone stop you - and smiling while you do it.”

What people have said about Morgan Delt:
“Lots of people are making music like this in 2016, but very few are making it this impressively.” [Phase Zero] - All Music
“Morgan Delt has moved to Sub Pop and upped the ambition for this excellent follow-up.’ [Phase Zero, 8/10] - Uncut
“A powerful intoxicant rather than just another retro genre exercise” [Phase Zero, 4/5] - MOJO
"Lush, verdant psych perfect for your next interstellar trip." [Phase Zero] - Brooklyn Vegan
“...The disjunction between Delt’s words and melodies feels greater and more desperate—with that tension giving the music a hidden power.’ [Phase Zero] - Chicago Reader
“Drenched in psychedelia, Phase Zero is dripping with dreamy sounds that ooze from your speakers' pores like day-after LSD sweat. Yes, the '60s psych-pop references are accurate, but his best work also draws from the mind-altering repetition of Spacemen 3 or Can, carved down into three-minute pop songs.” [Phase Zero] - Under the Radar
"I Don't Want To See What's Happening Outside" sounds like the kind of music you'd listen to on a perfect sunny day. But Morgan Delt not only doesn't want to go outside, he can't even bear to look out his window.” [“I Don’t Wanna See…”] - NPR Music
“His new song “I Don’t Wanna See What’s Happening Outside” is a piece of crystal-clear underwater pop music, and it sounds a bit like recent-vintage Tame Impala might sound if they drifted much further out into space.” - Stereogum
