Watch The New Laetitia Sadier Video For "Love Captive"!

LAETITIA CALLS FOR TRADE FREES
FIND ME FINDING YOU IS OUT MARCH 24TH! WATCH "LOVE CAPTIVE" HERE! Find Me Finding You , the forthcoming album from the Laetitia Sadier Source Ensemble, is bound to be a deeply appreciated expression when it drops on March 24th - not only does it present a fusion of new and familiar collaborative elements that strike the ear with scintillating freshness, but the songs that are sung survey all the energies that are surging athwart the globe in these troubled times. In Laetitia's experienced activist hands, these ambitious propositions and dire proclamations give inspiration to a powerful vision of a new world coming - and don't worry, one of well-considered freedom instead of walls and cages.

"Love Captive" is the second song shared from  Find Me Finding You  and the first video from the album. This duet with Hot Chip's Alexis Taylor (featuring also an expectorating cornet performance by Rob Mazurek) lends romantic voicing to a central tenet of Laetitia's  Find Me Finding You thought: that, should we be responsible enough to endeavor into a world of basic incomes and open relationships, we would stand to take revolutionary strides as individuals and as a community. 21st-century flower children, leave the Dionysian model behind! Love without restrictions can be found with a principled, Appollonian approach. And after that, trade as well!

The video for "Love Captive" locates our heroine in the brutalist confines of a public amphitheater - with sheer faces of rock and concrete steps that are the site of ascent, descent and reflection for all the members of society. Laetitia looks on as bodies cross the frame, wearing coats against the cold, with the cranes of public works on the horizon. Moving from the reality of the everyday to the abstract shapes of a matching unreality, David Thayer's video finds revelation in the comparisons and contrasts. But this is only the beginning...

Don't forget - March 24th! And save these other dates below!

Wax Idols Share "Deborah" (Peter Remix) with Brooklyn Vegan; American Tragic Limited Edition Cassette out This Friday via Etruscan Gold Records

Wax Idols Share "Deborah" (Peter Remix) with Brooklyn Vegan American Tragic Limited Edition Cassette out This Friday via Etruscan Gold RecordsAnnounce Tour Dates With Thursday & March Brooklyn Headline Show  Photo Credit: Danielle Spires
Stream: "Deborah" (Peter Remix) at Brooklyn Vegan or SoundCloud
Watch: "Deborah" video at Noisey or YouTube
“It lives in a grim, melodic sweet spot between total bummer and feel-good sing-a-long, with a hook that sounds better suited for fits-pumping post-trauma than wallowing in the thick of it.” - The Fader
"I love Wax Idols; not just because vocalist Hether Fortune is such a fascinating enigma of a person with rose gold pipes, but because they make me want to dance” - Kim Kelly, Noisey
"While the sound of the band (mostly Fortune herself) is polished, like a black pearl, Fortune’s lyrics are often raw, and the emotions seem pretty close to the surface." - John Schaefer, WNYC
"Post-punk prodigies" - SPINWax Idols’ critically-acclaimed album, American Tragic, is reissued digitally and will be released on March 10 with limited edition alternate cover on purple cassette via the band’s label Etruscan Gold Records. The reissue, which can be pre-ordered at  Bandcamp includes an exclusive remix of "Deborah" from the band’s own Peter Lightning. Today Brooklyn Vegan premiered the "Deborah" (Peter Remix) and is also running an extensive interview with Wax Idols' Hether Fortune which discusses the band's newly launched Etruscan Gold Records, forthcoming album Happy Ending, tour dates with Thursday and more. Read the feature and stream the "Deborah" (Peter Remix)  HERE. Wax Idols have announced North American tour dates with the recently-reunited Thursday, a strong and vital pairing of groups both known for their unparalleled live performances and unique personal voices. Those voices are raised together in the current political climate, with two ultimatums: dethrone them all, and provide care and compassion for those who need it most. The upcoming tour will kick off on March 29 with a Wax Idols headlining show at Brooklyn Bazaar. Wax Idols will join Thursday in Philadelphia on March 30 at the Fillmore for a tour that will make stops in  cities such as Nashville, Atlanta, Los Angeles and more. The dates with Thursday will also include performances by Touché Amoré and Basement.
About the tour, Wax Idols' Hether Fourtune says:
I started going to punk/hardcore shows when I was around 13. I saw Thursday every time they played within a 200 mile radius of my rural home in Michigan for years. My consistent & devoted presence at their shows made an impact I guess, because when I reached out to Geoff years later as an adult he remembered me. We formed a friendship & he in turn became a fan of this band. Geoff and I have a uniquely powerful bond that has seen us both through many seasons of life. I feel truly honored to know him and to have the opportunity to play to Thursday audiences — the very same audience I grew up in.

Last month, Noisey premieree of the official video for "Deborah" from American Tragic. The video was filmed in Oakland and Los Angeles produced by  Omar Acosta  (Stretch and Bobbito) who says, "It was great working with Hether and the rest of band. A true storyteller, each of her pieces have power behind them with a deep narrative you can feel within your soul. We wanted to stay away from the traditional glossy music video opting instead to captivate the energy at actual shows. it appears as if viewed through the eyes of a roadie or a stage-hand. The single, 'Deborah,' is real with meaning and story that is featured throughout the tour setting a foundation for more to come."
Wax Idols are a four-piece based out of Oakland, CA; their sound calls on the mutated aesthetics of varying strains of post-punk (songwriting elements from darkwave and Factory/Rough Trade pioneers, as well as the complex interplay and emotion of post-hardcore), without carbon-copying those who made these maps. Hether Fortune's powerful voice as the songwriter, arranger, producer singer and guitarist is at the center, but this makes no other member of the band a replaceable element. Their work together is what makes Wax Idols' energy these days so vital.
The band’s recent single,  “Everybody Gets What They Want,”  is taken from their forthcoming (and fourth) album Happy Ending, set to be released later this year. Happy Ending is a concept album exploring the posthumous consciousness of a fictional protagonist who can still fully perceive the world around herself. “In a grave, just for you,” Fortune sings with a certain slyness, exploring the abstraction & finality of death from both philosophical and personal perspectives. She also sees this album as a way to process increasing anxieties & fear within the current sociopolitical landscape. This dual theme of political anxiety and personal experience is one Fortune began exploring in seriousness on Wax Idols’ critically-acclaimed third album, American Tragic, which Pitchfork proclaimed “smartly unpacks a pretty universal experience—the sadness, nostalgia, and occasional euphoria involved in letting go of something you once cared about, even when it desperately hurts.” Wax Idols Tour Dates:03.09: Oakland, CA @ Starline Social Club

ABOUT GIRLPOOL:Life has been a whirl for Girlpool since the release of their acclaimed 2015 debut Before the World Was Big. Shortly before the record came out, Harmony Tividad and Cleo Tucker relocated from their hometown of Los Angeles all the way across the country to Philadelphia, where they quickly became embedded in the local D.I.Y. scene. "Before BTWWB, I was just out of high school, living in my old neighborhood," recalls Cleo Tucker. "Then we started touring in a way we'd never done before. I really started to experience the duality that was beginning to exist in my life: tour/not on tour." After a chaotic and informative year spent floating around the East Coast, both bandmates moved home to California at the start of 2017. Girlpool have been seemingly everywhere at once, exploring all the world's offerings with open minds and notebooks. All the lessons they learned, about the earth and about themselves, are gathered together in their sophomore record and ANTI- debut, Powerplant. Over 10 days in August 2016, Girlpool holed up at Los Angeles' Comp-ny studios to record and mixPowerplant with Drew Fischer. For the first time, Harmony and Cleo were joined by a third performer, drummer Miles Wintner, a friend who easily meshed with the tightknit duo. The decision to add percussion came as a natural decision for Harmony and Cleo; "Cleo and I just were driving down the New Jersey turnpike when she mentioned that it might be exciting to expand our sound for the new songs," says Harmony. "The songs we were writing had the potential of getting really climactic," adds Cleo. "I think percussion adds a new part of the musical dynamic that we want to explore."Girlpool's eagerness to evolve should come as no surprise; in the same way that there were little traces of their self-titled EP on BTWWB, on Powerplant, the pair shed their old skins with more eagerness than before. "In some ways I feel more courageous and mature and in other ways I feel smaller and softer, sometimes even more fragile than ever," says Harmony, adding that while the inner self is always changing, ultimately the end is a closer self-truth. The 12 tracks that compose Powerplant grow and burn with greater fire than the duo have possessed heretofore. Both bandmates were heavily inspired by Elliott Smith, the Cranberries, the Cocteau Twins, Brian Eno, Arthur Russell, and Graham Nash; the influence of each appear in the record's deliberate and intricate guitar work ("Fast Dust," "She Goes By") as well as its embrace of dissonant noise ("Corner Store," "Soup"). Though they were living apart for most of the writing process, the pair still managed to write all but four songs together, another testament to their dedication to Girlpool and each other. Now 21 and 20, Harmony and Cleo confront projections, despondency, apathy, romanticization, love, and heartbreak with a more devastating emotional pragmatism than before. "Looking pretty at the wall is my mistake in love installed/While the moth doesn't talk but in the dress the holes you saw," they sing on opener "123," perfectly refracting the truth. More humorous (but still heavily symbolic) lines are delivered with equal poignancy, like Harmony's disclaimer on "It Gets More Blue," "The nihilist tells you that nothing is true/I said I faked global warming just to get close to you." Both bandmates believe that radical vulnerability and honesty are essential to discovering oneself. "I see vulnerable softness as a place where the honest self can come forward," Cleo explains, saying that on Powerplant, Girlpool aimed for sincere expression. "As a society I feel that we perceive softness and vulnerability as traits that are 'weak,' and people emotionally disconnect themselves in order to avoid going through everything they feel," Harmony adds. "I think what is most important right now is empathy, and in order to have empathy we must first feel what we, ourselves, feel." Perhaps what really makes Powerplant a home run is that Girlpool understand exactly how to use their incisive lyrics, soft textures, hushed harmonies, and soaring hooks for maximum emotional impact. In these moments, when Harmony and Cleo's voices join together to deliver transcendent transmissions straight from their hearts, Girlpool become a league of their own.
