MIRANDA LEE RICHARDS will perform a private acoustic show in Hollywood next Wednesday, May 3 at The Record Parlour. Later next month on Wednesday, May 31 she'll perform with her full band for a record release show at the Bootleg Theater (2220 Beverly Blvd.-Los Angeles).
MIRANDA is nearing the release of her brand new album, EXISTENTIAL BEAST due out on June 16 on Invisible Hands Music. This beautifully constructed new release is characteristic of the effortless, 70's-influenced, country-tinged psychedelia evident throughout the Los Angeles native's previous work. EXISTENTIAL BEAST was recorded in Los Angeles with producer Rick Parker, best known for his work with Black Rebel Motorcycle Club and features the first single "Lucid I Would Dream," chosen by BBC 6'sLauren Laverne as a "headphone moment." EXISTENTIAL BEAST is a political album, examining the issues of our time, but with the intent of tackling these tough and often taboo subjects in a poetic and heartfelt manner. The title is also a mash-up of terms, referencing the existential crisis that has in turn arisen. MIRANDA says of EXISTENTIAL BEAST, "In essence, we are all still working within those animal urges of fear, competition, survival and sexuality which are deep-seeded and manifesting in varying ways and degrees for different individuals, depending on where they are at. But like it or not, these tendencies have been revealed, within our leaders, our countries and ourselves; it is indeed a pivotal and transformational time and there is much work to be done."
Born in San Francisco after the summer of love and before the dawn of disco,MIRANDA LEE RICHARDS grew up in an artistic and bohemian environment that has informed her adult life and work. After graduating from San Francisco School Of The Arts, she began to pursue a musical career. She met Kirk Hammett from Metallica who taught her to play Mazzy Star songs on guitar. Her early demos reached Anton Newcombe and she joined his band, the Brian Jonestown Massacre. MIRANDA then signed to Virgin Records and released her debut album The Herethereafter, a mix of folk, psychedelia, country and indie pop, and found fans worldwide. The critically acclaimed follow-up album Light Of X--the title of which comes from a dream about harnessing beams of light to travel in time--followed in 2009 via Nettwerk Records.
In 2016, MIRANDA unveiled Echoes Of The Dreamtime on Invisible Hands Music, which received rave reviews across in the U.K. and U.S., as well as national airplay with MOJO giving the album 4 stars and hailing the first single, "The sublime 'First Light Of Winter' is the moment it all comes together, Richards transcending her influences and, no longer constrained, arriving atpsychedelia's higher plane" (1/2016). EXISTENTIAL BEAST is yet another confident and inspiring piece of work from MIRANDA, sure to excite her ever growing fan base. New HAIM Single "Want You Back" Out Now
SOPHOMORE ALBUM 'SOMETHING TO TELL YOU' OUT JULY 7Today HAIM release "Want You Back," the first single from their forthcoming album 'Something To Tell You,' out July 7 on Columbia Records. "Want You Back" was produced by Ariel Rechtshaid.
Last week HAIM announced the news of their new album with a video of the band performing new track "Right Now" live in studio. The recording session was shot and directed by Paul Thomas Anderson (Magnolia, There Will Be Blood, Boogie Nights). Pitchfork noted "the song is hardcore HAIM," going on to say "this is what HAIM does best, create a small universe in a song, then soundtrack it with ample fire." The New York Times heralded the new music's arrival saying "anyone worried about the vitality of mainstream rock music need not: HAIM is back,' and NME declared "HAIM return to storm the summer."
As previously reported, HAIM will debut new music live on Saturday Night Live on May 13 (with Melissa McCarthy hosting).

New York City dance-punk band !!! (Chk Chk Chk) recently announced the release of their new album, Shake The Shudder, out May 19th on Warp Records. The album was premiered with the lead track "The One 2", which was featured on BBC 6Music Radio, KCRW, KEXP and has racked up over 400k streams in the last month. The latest single "Dancing Is The Best Revenge" elaborates on the dance performance elements of the first video by giving the song to some ladies who could really walk the walk and perform the song in the spirit of reinvention. "Dancing Is The Best Revenge" was premiered today onBeats1 with Zane Lowe and you can stream HERE.
Lead singer Nic Offer describes the idea behind the video *(http://chkchkchk.net)*:When we recorded Dancing Is The Best Revenge I pitched up my voice, becoming Nicole Fayu in the studio - much like Prince became Camille and Morrissey became Ann Coates. the groove felt like a strut or walk and i imagined it akin to drag or ballroom culture.
After The One 2 video featured such strong dance performances, and was filmed in the historic LA venue Jalisco, we decided to give the song to some girls who could really walk the walk and perform the song as in the spirit of reinvention. We traded some outfits and makeup tips and they helped me become IRL Nicole Fayu. Dancing with them was a blast, and it was great to finally see the song walked. I have to admit, I'm not used to being out performed in a video.
These ladies ignore a world that tells them who they should be - they take the stage, walking as whoever they want to be, and that's their best revenge. Maybe you'll never put on heels, maybe you'll never walk onstage, maybe you'll never be anyone else, but maybe this song/vid/story inspires you to try something you haven't before."

Ahead of their sophomore album release, Sharkmuffin opens up and gets personal with “Leather Gloves”, now streaming exclusively via The Le Sigh. The track delivers emotionally charged lyrics, backed by Sharkmuffin’s signature garage-crunch sound with a bit more echo and a jangly percussion beat, a bit more Ride than Hole this time. The band adds another new touch -- first-time lead vocals from bassist Natalie Kirch! Kirch had this to say about the track:“Without getting too specific, ‘Leather Gloves’ is about unrequited love and the feelings associated with that. It is the first song I have ever sang lead on for Sharkmuffin, I'm still working up the courage to sing it on stage, but I promised my bandmates I'd premiere it live at our Tsuki record release [May 3 at Sunnyvale, Brooklyn].”

Releases From KG, Alison's Halo and Bethany Curve Out May 19
May 19 will see Manufactured Recordings add to their exemplary Shoegaze Archive Series with the addition of 3 new releases; Alison Halo's Eyedazzler, KG's Come Closer, We're Cool,and Mee-Eaux, the debut release from Santa Cruz post-shoegazers, Bethany Curve.
Alison's Halo were born in Phoenix 2 decades ago and were led by spouses Adam and Catherine Cooper. The Big Takeover's Jack Rabid notes, "Alison's Halo trafficked in spectacular, effects-laden, ethereal guitar majesties, but were distinguished by Catherine's lovely vocals as shimmering as their six-string mélanges." They recorded two demo cassettes, Slug and Halo and in 1995 their debut single, "Dozen" was released on Independent Project Records. Alison Halo's first album, Eyedazzler 1992-1996, was a CD compilation of songs the band wrote created between those years and was released in 1998. Listen to "Out Of The Clear here.

Come Closer, We're Cool, is a collection of early 90's fuzzy noise pop by KG, the longtime project of Mulhouse, France's Rémy Bux. Started in 1988 as a solo bedroom project, Bux's early experiments involved a two-track recorder, a rigged synthesizer, and a great deal of ingenuity. Eventually procuring a four-track recorder, Bux began recording more seriously. Following a move to Strasbourg near France's German border to study musicology in 1991, it wasn't until 1993 that Bux went into Strasbourg's Downtown Studio to record the first KG 7". A second single co-released by Lo-Fi and Orgasm Records featuring the same line up was released in 1996.Come Closer, We're Cool compiles these early singles as well as tracks from a shelved release on Slumberland Records and other unreleased tracks. While similarities to Isn't Anything-era My Bloody Valentine and the Jesus & Mary Chain's Psychocandy abound, KG's approach is markedly different by blending the swirling textures of shoegaze and dream pop with the immediacy and minimalism of punk. Mee-Eaux was the debut release from 90's second wave shoegaze band Bethany Curve. The band takes their name from a street sign near the cliffs of the Monterey Bay in Santa Cruz where they formed in 1994. Mee-Eaux, originallyself-released on cassette only, was a 45 minute, 10 track introduction to Bethany Curve's dark space-rock approach to the droning, melancholic, distorted, and ethereal tones that had come to be associated with the shoegaze sound. The band's motto, Atmosphere | Arrangement | Sound | Layering | Noise, is a perfect reflection of Bethany Curve's compositional and performative approach to their debut effort, and remained so through the release of three more LPs: Skies a Crossed Sky(1996), Gold (1998), and You Brought Us Here (2001) on Unit Circle, and their final release, the Flaxen EP (2003), released on Kitchen Whore Records. Final track "Mey Voy" appeared on Cherry Red's 2016 shoegaze compilation, Still In A Dream: A Story Of Shoegaze 1988-1995, and the band also appeared on Dewdrop Records' 2002 compilationHalf Gifts: A Tribute To The Cocteau Twins with a cover of "Ivo." Following the release of the definitive edition of their seminal double concept album, The Texas-Jerusalem Crossroads , Lift to Experience has released a new video for “Falling From Cloud 9.” The video follows the band as they gather and prepare to play together for the first time in over 15 years. The video was filmed by Clay Grier and edited by Erica Silverman. Watch HERE .
The band has also announced they will release the Falling From Cloud 9 EP on May 12, 2017. The EP will feature the original version of “Falling From Cloud 9,” an acoustic version of the track recorded at XFM in 2001, plus a very special recording from one of the band’s many John Peel sessions.
Lift to Experience formed in Denton, Texas at the end of the last millennium by Josh T. Pearson, Andy Reginald Young and Josh “Bear” Browning. Their rise was fast and their reign was short. Following the release of their long-form masterpiece, the band imploded at the peak of their career due to a series of cruel tragedies. In this short time, however, Lift to Experience achieved high critical acclaim and were so beloved by John Peel that he invited them to record three Peel sessions in just five months, and the band were included in the Best 125 Peel Sessions of all time.
