Kita Alexander Returns with Heartfelt "Hotel" EP - Out Today!

Kita Alexander has today released her sophomore EP, Hotel, which is out now through Atlantic Records. The EP comes off the back of last year’s Like You Want EP, which has garnered mass critical acclaim and been streamed by fans all over the world in excess of 25 million times. With influences ranging from Stevie Nicks to Cat Stevens, this new EP promises to only accelerate this phenomenal talent’s global assent.

The EP’s title track is the type of song that stops you in your tracks. Laid over beautiful, minimal production, Kita’s dusky alto voice helps the emotional, sombre lyrics leave a lasting mark on whomever they share company. Kita had this to say about the track: “I have this place inside of me which I usually keep locked shut and buried deep. It has always scared me to think what will come out if I opened it. At the time when I was to write Hotel, my partner lost a loved one. The only way I thought I could help was to dig up that feeling inside of myself and unlock the emotions that I had tried bury 3 years ago when my sister passed away. This song is dedicated to my friends and family and everyone else who has lost someone to the other side or lost a loving relationship. It's written as a beacon of hope that one day we will bump into them and see them again down the line in this adventure of life and the next one we call death. Dedicated to Natassja Claire Alexander.”

Hotel also features the track Damage Done, which is accompanied by a beautiful video filmed in Byron Bay and featuring Australian surfer Josie Pendergast, and A Girl, which is a throwback to the signature Kita sound that made fans fall in love with her in the first place.

At only 21 years old, Kita’s atmospheric synth-pop sound ensured that debut EP Like You Want gathered a huge amount of attention, and outlets like The Guardian, NME and i-D were quick to notice. Her two singles, My Own Way and Like You Want To, have been listened to over 4 million times on Spotify alone and found support in the UK from the likes of Radio 1 very early on. “Still It’s Not Over” illustrates the album’s reflective mood and shows Erasure’s spirit of resistance is undiminished with lyrics that serve as a potent reminder of the band’s place in the gay rights movement.

World Be Gone  sees the award-winning songwriters giving the world and recent political upheavals a thoughtful examination and, as highlighted on the painted artwork showing a ship's masthead rising up from being submerged in the stormy waters, looking forward to the future.

Written, performed and produced by Erasure and mixed by Matty Green, MOJO have described the album as “A triumph of achingly beautiful pop protest music.”

World Be Gone  will be available on CD, limited edition orange vinyl, regular vinyl & cassette and is available to pre-order now.

“'Grave Slave' is S&M for your ears,” says Lombardo. “Patton’s vocal range and intensity are on full blast throughout this entire album. We're coming at you hardcore, but leaving you with a kiss.”

“As the song states, we can blow out the candles on the urinal cake,’” adds Pearson. “A track like this only makes complete sense in this climate... absurdity, pigs, neo-fascist authoritarianism... the American dream is alive and well. Filmed in Detroit between the hours of 6pm and 6am, the video is directed by Hazel Hill-McCarthy III – the Los Angeles-based filmmaker who’s previous work includes a documentary featuring Throbbing Gristle’s Genesis P-Orridge. Watch the video HERE. "We Are a Mirror” is taken from ADULT.’s collaborative album  Detroit House Guests  which was released in March by Mute.

Along with this new visual offering, ADULT. are pleased to announce a special performance at the esteemedMovement Festival in their Detroit home base on Sunday, May 28. Joining Nicola and Adam will be Shannon Funchess of Light Asylum who also featured on Detroit House Guests and can be seen in the previously released video for “We Chase the Sound.”

Recently, ADULT. traveled to Nashville where they performed in Jack White’s hallowed Blue Room at Third Man Records. The audio from this show was recorded direct to acetate and will be released later this year as part of the Live at Third Man Records series.

Detroit House Guests is a project conceived by ADULT. based on the visual artist residency model ­– each musician came to ADULT.’s studio for a three week period with the parameter that they all live, work and collaborate together. The result - a total anthropological sound experiment and a full length album.

The album features collaborations with a whole host of musicians and artists – Douglas J McCarthy from Nitzer Ebb, Michael Gira from Swans, Shannon Funchess from Light Asylum, Robert Aiki Aubrey Lowe aka Lichens, Austrian thereminist Dorit Chrysler and multidisciplinary artist Lun*na Menoh.

Kuperus and Miller also make sculpture, paintings, films, photographs, performances, videos and installations. They strive to intersect the lines between art and audio and have exhibited their work at institutions such as the Austrian Cultural Forum (NY), Mattress Factory (Pittsburgh), Detroit Institute of Arts (Detroit), MOMAS (Saitama, Japan), and Centre d'art contemporain de Meymac (FR). They have shown their film The Three Grace(s) triptych at spaces such as Anthology Film Archives (NY), Distrital Film Festival (Mexico City), and Grey Area for Art and Technology (SF).

“Confident in its own weirdness, ‘Love in the 4th Dimension’ is as enjoyable as the live shows that birthed it.” - QThe Big Moon will join Marika Hackman on a co-headline tour of North America this summer in support of their debut album  Love in the 4th Dimension  (StarTime International/Columbia Records). The tour kicks off in Los Angeles on July 29 with shows in Seattle, Minneapolis, and Chicago before concluding in Brooklyn at Baby’s All Right on August 16. These dates mark The Big Moon’s return to North America since SXSW and last month’s VEVO DSCVR:live show at The Knitting Factory in Brooklyn where the band played songs from their debut album to a packed crowd. VEVO captured their performances of “Sucker,” “Bonfire” and “Pull the Other One,” which offer a taste of what to expect this summer. The Big Moon just wrapped a U.K. tour and will hit the festival circuit this summer with performances at Dot to Dot Festival, Green Man Festival, Reading & Leeds Festival, and more. Recorded in London throughout the summer of 2016, Love in the 4th Dimension was co-produced by Catherine Marks and Juliette Jackson. The 11-track debut has receivedrave reviews in the U.K. with The Guardian declaring it “nostalgic indie with wide-eyed conviction (4/5 stars)” and The Line of Best Fit proclaiming it’s “an album full of straight up bangers (8.5/10).”

The FADER’s Anupa Mistry met Ibeyi in Cuba, where they discuss the significance of the country, growing up in Paris where they first practiced batá drumming and Yoruba chants, and the strong influence of Afro-Cuban faith practices on their music. They also speak about honoring the death of their father and sister in music, their emotional 2015 self-titled debut album they made as teenagers, and their forthcoming album for XL Recordings — a more uplifting and vital effort made during a dark time in the world.
Ibeyi is 22-year-old French-Cuban twins Lisa-Kaindé and Naomi Diaz.  Since the release of their stunning self-titled debut album in February 2015, Ibeyi have been captivating audiences across the globe with their unique blend of modern pop, hip-hop and electronic influenced with the traditional sounds of Yorùbá. In 2016 as Ibeyi finished up a global tour and headed back into the studio to work on their sophomore album, the adoration their music had garnered revealed itself through requests for: the twins to perform at the Chanel Cruise 2016/17 fashion show in Cuba, an appearance in Beyoncé’s video for Lemonade, and Maura Bigonzetti’s ‘ Deep ,’ a performance choreographed to music by Ibeyi for Alvin Ailey’s Dance Theatre.
