Sigur Rós announce Norður og Niður, expansive year-end event

Sigur Rós announce Norður og Niður, an expansive takeover of Iceland's largest arts venueHarpa Concert Hall
Watch a trailer for the event here: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=4a8EEITjLps

This December Sigur Rós cordially invite you to go to hell. "Norður og Niður" means "go North and go down", but translates more accurately as "everything's going to hell". For six days across Christmas and New Year the band will set up residence in Reykjavik's state-of-the-art venue, Harpa, to fill the shortest days with the brightest array of music, art and performance from Iceland and beyond.   New Year is the perfect time to join Sigur Rós on the 66th parallel, in the world's most northerly capital. The band will perform four concerts in Eldborg, Harpa's main hall, on December 27, 28, 29 and 30. These will be the first shows by the band in Iceland in five years, and their most intimate since the tiny regional shows on the Heima tour more than a decade ago.  Elsewhere in Harpa, Norður og Niður will host musical performances, art installations, dance pieces, film screenings, spoken word and impromptu happenings, many of them featuring the extended network of friends and collaborators that they have met and worked with throughout their twenty-plus year career. With a capacity of only 1,500 per show, tickets for each Sigur Rós performance will be strictly limited to two per customer and released by proof of ID. Tickets for the Sigur Rós performances and travel packages will go on sale to public on Monday May 15, with the rest of the full program for Norður og Niður to be announced later in the Summer.   To be first in line to purchase Sigur Rós Eldborg tickets, with pre-sale Friday May 12, register atnordurognidur.is Reykjavík's reputation for being able to throw a party is not lightly earned, and Norður og Niður will significantly ramp up a holiday season already filled with fun, festivities and a truly insane arsenal of fireworks. No-one lights up the dark days quite like the Icelanders. So, in addition to enjoying the Norður og Niður program at Harpa, taking a few days to experience the best that Iceland has to offer is highly recommend. The band will be offering full travel and tour packages, including flights, hotels, transfers and, of course, concert tickets. Travel and tour packages also allow options to buy now and pay later.

THE DAMNED MAKE TRIUMPHANT RETURN TO 40TH ANNIVERSARY TOUR AFTER CAPTAIN SENSIBLE'S INJURY

THE DAMNED CAPTAIN SENSIBLE, FEELING NO PAIN, RESUMES 40TH ANNIVERSARY TOUR SITTING ON 'THRONE' POSTPONED MONTREAL, BOSTON AND NEW YORK SHOWS RESCHEDULED FOR LATER THIS MONTH THE DAMNED SIGN LABEL DEAL FOR NEW ALBUM IN THE WORKS
Photo: Andrea Beck Less than a week after Captain Sensible fell offstage at their sold out show in Toronto, resulting in a broken rib, The Damned were forced to postpone three shows this past week, including Montreal, Boston and New York (dates are rescheduled for later this month). On Saturday night, the band made a triumphant return at a sold out Stone Pony in Asbury Park - sitting on a specially built 'throne' (created by bandmates and crew), Captain appeared to be feeling no pain as he blasted through the 90 minute set (plus two encores), confirming that the 40th anniversary tour is definitely back on!  "As movement is a bit awkward currently, I played last night seated, but it all went swimmingly and this epic 40th Anniversary tour is now firmly back on the road. We've played some great venues on the trip... and Asbury Park's Stone Pony is up there with the best of 'em. But I have to say I wish I'd waited till here before backflipping off the stage, as this one was only 3 feet high. D'oh!” Captain Sensible.  The Damned also announce a new label deal with Raw Power Management, the international artist management company, who have signed the legendary band to their label, Search and Destroy, a joint venture with Spinefarm Records/Universal.  This new venture will see The Damned release their first new album for nearly ten years on Search and Destroy. The as-yet-unnamed new album will be recorded this summer and is the follow up to, ‘So, Who’s Paranoid?’, which came out in 2008. Formed in 1976, The Damned really need no introduction… As well as releasing the first ever British punk single and album, they also broke further new ground as the first UK punk act to tour America. Cited as one of the most influential punk groups of all time, they also contributed vastly to the gothic rock genre and influenced an entire generation of future hardcore punk bands such as Black Flag and Bad Brains, with their fast paced energetic playing style and attitude, as well as heavyweights such as Green Day and Guns ’N’ Roses (the latter acknowledged the debt when they covered “New Rose” on their 1993 album, ‘The Spaghetti Incident’). Along with the Sex Pistols and The Clash, the Damned helped spearhead the punk movement in the UK and they continue to wave the flag for originality, stick two fingers up to mediocrity and celebrate a DIY punk ethos in the face of plastic entertainment and scripted reality, four decades and ten albums later (and still on the road). The band's hugely influential classic debut single, 'New Rose', celebrated its 40th anniversary last November with a limited edition 7” release via BMG. Featuring original artwork, picture disc and exclusive fold out poster, it's a must have collectable release of one of the most influential records of all time. Their classic debut long-player, ‘Damned Damned Damned’ (the very first British punk album), was originally released by Stiff Records on February 18th 1977 and, to celebrate the 40thanniversary of the band’s dramatic breakthrough, BMG also released a very special Art Of The Album: Deluxe Edition of that incredible debut album on February 17th, almost exactly 40 years to the day since its original issue. Currently on a world tour, the band's two month North American run began in Los Angeles April 6th, and they also play a series of UK festivals this summer (check the band's website for details). David Vanian, Captain Sensible, Monty Oxymoron, Andrew 'Pinch' Pinching, and Stu West will head back into the studio after the North American dates to start work on a brand new album, their first since 2008's 'So, Who's Paranoid?' A pre-order link for the CD, colored vinyl, as well as exclusive merch (and experiences) is available at PledgeMusic.   See The Damned live – it will be a night out that you will remember for a very long time... REMAINING NORTH AMERICAN SHOWS: May 9 - Baltimore, MD - Sound Stage ^^^May 11 - Atlanta, GA - Masquerade/Heaven ^^^May 12 - Lake Buena Vista, FL - House Of Blues ^^^May 13 - St, Petersburg, FL – State Theater ^^^May 14 - Fort Lauderdale, FL - Revolution ^^^May 16 - New Orleans, LA - House Of Blues ^^^May 17 - Houston, TX - House Of Blues ^^^May 18 - Dallas, TX - House Of Blues ^^^May 19 - Austin, TX - Mohawk Outdoors ^^^ SOLD OUTMay 21- Phoenix, AZ - Marquee Theater ^^^May 23 - Brooklyn, NY - Warsaw ^^^ (rescheduled date)  SOLD OUTMay 24 - Boston, MA - Paradise Rock Club ^^^ (rescheduled date) SOLD OUTMay 25 - Montreal, QC - Club Soda ^^^ (rescheduled date)

Hundred Waters share new single "Particle"

Hundred Waters have just shared "Particle," an early taste of their forthcoming third album, which they have been writing and self-recording/producing over the past three years. It's a deeply personal song that reflects a period of profound change within the band wherein the relationships of the members have shifted into unfamiliar territory, reflected in the song's rapidly morphing textures.    Listen here:https://youtu.be/PEkng2Un5n8
The band is currently finishing their next LP, due in late 2017 on OWSLA. This Sunday, May 14th they'll perform at the fourth annual FORM Arcosanti (the festival they founded and curate in Arizona); a special set that will include first-ever performances of some of their new material. The festival's 2017 headliners include Solange, Father John Misty, James Blake, Future Islands, and Skrillex.
"Particle" is being offered as free download-for-follow (Spotify, Facebook, Twitter, Email) via the band's website hundred-waters.com.

Stream/share "Keep Running (One Bit Remix)"
Tei Shi will kick off a run of US tour dates tomorrow, playing two nights of sold out shows at Brooklyn's Rough Trade. The New Yorker notes, "The spindly compositions that Valerie Teicher records as Tei Shi are fierce in their modesty, making spare use of whispered high notes and loud screams for a well-studied blend of Janet and Gwen." She'll go on to play Boston, DC, Camden as well as Field Trip Music & Arts Festival in Toronto and Cayuga Sound in Ithaca, NY. A full rundown can be found below. Purchase "Keep Running (One Bit Remix)"

Acclaim for Crawl Space:
"Tei Shi may have been a long time coming, but "Keep Running" feels like the debut of an artist properly establishing her musical identity with plenty of potential for success."  V Magazine
"Swooning synth-pop and the latter's psychedelic soul" Stereogum
"Prepare your roommates for the impromptu karaoke sessions you'll be having to this song all year long." Cosmopolitan, 25 Albums to Obsess Over in 2017
"Shimmering vocals, pulsing basslines, sultry synths and a vulnerable-yet-cool-girl attitude"  PAPER
"'Crawl Space' draws the focus in on Tei Shi's compelling and sultry vocals like never before" Clash Magazine
"Tei Shi's acrobatic vocals shine once again on "How Far,"... The track - which pairs gut-wrenching lyrics like "If it pleases you to see me struggle/ I will" with dreamy guitars and buzzing production - explores the thin line between love and destruction. And it'll stick with you."  FADER
""Keep Running," a silky slip of R&B pop, a little Jesse Ware, a little Solange. The video, directed by Agostina Gálvez, which you can watch below, features the Colombian-born singer back to brunette, in various satiny numbers, curving her body with the sensual ease with which she delivers her melodies."  Noisey
"Fluttering above light, synth-driven production, the singer's sunny vocals shine, asserting herself as both a prolific producer and acrobatic vocalist."  Out Magazine, Women In Power-Pop: 50 Musicians Taking Over
