" ...she's crafted one of the most moving pieces of music likely to be released this year."
NPR

“edgy pop” - The New Yorker

“If Kurt Cobain and PJ Harvey had a daughter she might write fuzzy quaalude-rock
tunes like this duo’s charismatic Annie Hardy” - SPIN

“The austerely funereal, organ-pumped ode “Batman” (named after the superhero onesie Silvio was wearing the day he died) echoes the fragile, childlike yearning of Daniel Johnston” - LA Weekly

“After my son died, it all had to come back out. … Writing these songs saved me.”

Annie Hardy began her illustrious career as lead singer, songwriter and guitarist of Giant Drag over a decade ago and she returned to the public eye with her critically acclaimed solo debut, Rules, this April. The album features contributions from Don Bolles (The Germs)Stephen McBean (Pink Mountaintops, Black Mountain)Petra Haden (That Dog)DJ Bonebrake (X) and Joe Cardamone (The Icarus Line). Crafted during a period of time during which she lost both her baby to SIDS at 17 days old as well as the baby’s father, her boyfriend Robert Paulson, the record is simultaneously beautiful and tragic. The honesty of the record envelops listeners inviting them to engage with the extreme tragedy in an almost voyeuristic capacity. Today,  The Los Angeles Times  shares the video for album single  “Train” , we encourage you to post & share!

Produced by Joe Cardamone of LA post-hardcore band The Icarus Line, on RulesAnnie trades in the grunge-pop grooves of Giant Drag for experimental art-punk, exposing her fragility in a way she never has before. Often compared to bands such as My Bloody Valentine and PJ Harvey, Giant Drag played Coachella and the Reading and Leeds festivals as well as touring with Scissor Sisters, Pretty Girls Make Graves, The Jesus and Mary Chain and many more. After surviving two years of incredible personal loss, Annie Hardy returns to release a powerful poignant solo debut. Stay tuned for more opportunities to catch her live coming soon.

Tancred debuts new song "Birthday Candles" + on tour this summer

TANCRED SHARES NEW SINGLE “BIRTHDAY CANDLES”STREAMING TODAY ON THE FADER
B-SIDE TO CRITICALLY-ACCLAIMED ALBUM OUT OF THE GARDENOUT NOW ON POLYVINYL RECORDS
ON TOUR THIS SPRING/SUMMER WITH PWR BTTMPhoto Credit: Tucker Leary
Tancred (Jess Abbott) is thrilled to share new song “Birthday Candles,” a previously-unreleased B-side to her critically-acclaimed 2016 album, Out of the Garden, which is out now on Polyvinyl Records. Premiering today on THE FADER, they praise the "smart and self-aware" song as a more "introspective and melancholy" counterweight to Out of the Garden's "spunky fury." “The song idea came from a dream I had about blowing out candles on a birthday cake,” Abbott shares, expounding upon the track’s inspiration, “and how you can be surrounded by people and still feel really isolated and alone.” Tancred will embark upon a spring/summer tour with label mates PWR BTTM later this month; all upcoming tour dates are listed below.

With the release of “Birthday Candles” comes the news of Abbott’s amicable and mutual departure from Now, Now. Both Abbott and KC and Brad are excited to continue pursuing their desired creative direction through Tancred and Now, Now respectively, and are grateful for the experiences they shared together during Now, Now’s period as a trio. Read Abbott’s full statement on Facebook.

Produced by That Dog’s Anna Waronker and Off!/Redd Kross member Steven McDonald, Out of the Garden has been hailed as a “phenomenal” new album by NPR Music, with lead single “Sell My Head” being praised by Stereogum for how it “simmers with a uniquely bold energy”. “Out Of The Garden,” wrote THE FADER “is a full-on blast of power pop with an angry shadow behind it. Lead singer and songwriter Jess Abbott's voice sounds like it came straight out of 1999; she's got those perfect, subtly nasal pipes that sound like the sweetest, chewiest, most long-lasting bubblegum.”

Kelly Lee Owens (Smalltown Supersound) > 'Throwing Lines' video > watch here

KELLY LEE OWENS

NEW VIDEO FOR “THROWING LINES”

DEBUT ALBUM OUT NOW ON SMALLTOWN SUPERSOUND

NEW UK & EU TOUR DATES

watch the video here:
https://youtu.be/oyx-lpJYGCg “Kelly Lee Owens sounds ethereal and jittery at the same time — not an easy thing . . . Her sounds are the rounded, rubbery boops and pings of techno, ricocheting all around; a steady but understated beat carries [“Anxi”] into a complete transformation halfway through.” – The New York Times

“[Kelly Lee Owens] mixes dream pop and ambient techno on her immensely varied and fully-formed debut.”
-- Pitchfork
London-based producer Kelly Lee Owens is announcing her first ever North American tour in support of her self-titled, debut album, released this past March via Smalltown Supersound. On stage as on record, Kelly blurs the line between throbbing techno and pop vocal performances.

Additionally, Kelly now presents the video for “Throwing Lines.” As Kelly describes it, "This is one of the poppiest tracks on my record and it could have had a showy video to match, but it feels good to take the piss instead - out of myself and that world.”

Kelly Lee Owens bridges the gaps between cavernous techno, spectral pop, and Krautrock’s mechanical pulse, It brims with exploratory wonder and delves into a variety of moods - sadness, anxiety, and darkly shaded ecstasy - with a trippy-eyed clarity and confidence. Since announcing her debut album, Kelly has quickly become regarded as one of the most exciting new artists to watch from the likes of  Pitchfork, Rolling Stone, Entertainment Weekly,  and way beyond.
