WIRE Announce Fall Tour Dates; Critically Acclaimed Album Silver/Lead out now on pinkflag

"With much of their recent material, Wire continues to keep true to themselves in a way that makes old fans stick around, while still freshening up their sound enough to engage new generations with each new decade of music." - Stereogum

WIRE have announced its fall North American headline tour in support of its critically acclaimed studio album, Silver/Lead. The upcoming dates follow up the band’s successful West Coast tour and DRILL festivals in Los Angeles, Leeds and Berlin. WIRE will be touring the U.S. and Canada with the tour kicking off on September 16 in Chicago at The Metro and will include three shows in Brooklyn at Baby’s All Right. The band will also visit markets such as Boston, Washington, D.C., Philadelphia and Toronto. All upcoming shows are listed below.
Silver/Lead is the 15th studio album from musical pioneers Wire. It arrived on the 40th anniversary of their debut performance. Yet it’s about as far from nostalgia as you could get. This is the sound of a uniquely addictive 21st century psychedelic post-punk.On Silver/Lead, Colin Newman and Matt Simms’ guitar work is alternately jagged and luminous, while bassist Graham Lewis’s ear-catching lyrics are vivid yet oblique. Meanwhile, drummer Robert Grey provides a virtual masterclass in percussive minimalism. But it’s how the various instruments mesh together that really counts. And Newman’s production creates a sonic space in which even the smallest gesture is accorded some recognition.Highlights include the optimistic dazzle of “Diamonds In Cups,” with its almost T. Rex-style buzz and chug, and the moody swing of “This Time.” Elsewhere on the musical spectrum, there’s the menacing widescreen grandeur of "Playing Harp For The Fishes" and breakneck-paced guitar pop of "Short Elevated Period."Wire are one of the world’s most ground-breaking bands, their influence acknowledged by bands as diverse as Blur, Sonic Youth, R.E.M. and Savages. But they have never been interested in exploiting past glories. For Wire, there is only ever one possible direction: forwards. So it’s perhaps not surprising that over recent years, they’ve played strings of sold-out shows, achieved career-best record sales, and been cited as a strong influence by yet another generation of bands.Wire’s last three albums garnered nothing but rave reviews. From 2013’s strangely beautiful Change Becomes Us (“It’s fantastic.” – Pitchfork) to the crackling motorik of 2015’s Wire (“It’s all really well turned, potent and crisp.” – The Guardian), and last year’s punchy mini-album Nocturnal Koreans (“It's a cracker and sounds defiantly modern.” – The Quietus). Consequently, although it may be being released on the band’s 40th anniversary, Silver/Lead is an album which has nothing to do with the past and everything to do with the future. "Brooklyn band that's been playing a gazillion shows lately (and seem to have as many scheduled), which is always a good sign."

Brooklyn-based "surf noir" garage psych band Fruit & Flowers announce their debut EP, Drug Tax, due out June 30th via Little Dickman Records. Today, the band debuted their first single and music video from the forthcoming release on Brooklyn Vegan . Watch "Out Of Touch" HERE, and check out the upcoming tour dates, including their EP release show on June 29th at Baby's All Right.
Fruit & Flowers are one of the most active bands in the NYC area, and have been deemed one of "NYC's Hardest Working Bands" by Oh My Rockness. The band embarks on its third tour of 2017 in July to Canada and the Midwest in support of Drug Tax. Fruit & Flowers' exuberant, electric performances draw a local following. Ana Becker's angular, expressive guitar style and Lyzi Wakefield's gritty rhythmic backbone merge a post-punk heaviness with psychedelic warmth. Committed and charismatic front woman Caroline Yoder summons a fervent energy, surrounded by distinct, warm and refreshing three part harmonies, the bedrock of Fruit and Flowers' sound.
Conceived in a Bushwick loft with broken AC during the summer of 2015 by Caroline on bass and Shaw Walters on drums, the band was soon joined by Lyzi Wakefield and Ana Becker on guitars and vocals. The band agreed to play its first show at Northside festival just weeks after formation and wrote the record in a furious fit of hot nights and inspired mornings. The band became fully realized when Shaw handed the role of drummer to Jose Berrio (drummer-cum-art director), whose inimitable style elevates the strong rhythmic character of the band.
Drug Tax was born out of necessity, capturing the grit and rush of New York City summer and the newfound chemistry between the bandmates. Weaving together the perspectives and expressions of the band's multiple songwriters, Drug Tax unfolds to present the unique and varied voice of Fruit & Flowers. Lead single "Out Of Touch" is about the ennui of a missed love opportunity, with soaring, sultry vocals, beachy surf rock riffs and fuzzy bass. Album tracks range from the sultry moody and beautiful "Dark Surf" to the post-gothic title track "Drug Tax."
Drug Tax was recorded at Thump Studios in Greenpoint, Brooklyn. The EP was engineered and co-produced by John Thayer, and mixed and mastered by George Harris. Jose Berrio designed the band's logo and album art.

Updated 2017 US & International tour dates
B-Sides and Rarities will be available in North America from Sub Pop, Europe from Bella Union and Australia/New Zealand from Mistletone
On Friday, June 30th, Beach House will release the B-Sides and Rarities album, a 14-track compilation of songs from throughout their career so far. The album features 2 previously unreleased tracks “Chariot” [link here] and “Baseball Diamond,” which were recorded during the Depression Cherry and Thank Your Lucky Stars sessions (both Depression Cherry and Thank Your Lucky Stars were released, 2 months apart, in 2015).
Beach House says of the release, “When we announced that we were releasing a B-sides and rarities album, someone on Twitter asked, ‘B-sides record? Why would Beach House put out a B-sides record? Their A-sides are like B-sides.’ This random person has a point. Our goal has never been to make music that is explicitly commercial. Over the years, as we have worked on our 6 LPs, it wasn’t the ‘best’ or most catchy songs that made the records, just the ones that fit together to make a cohesive work. Accordingly, our B-sides are not songs that we didn’t like as much, just ones that didn’t have a place on the records we were making.”
“The idea for a B-sides record came when we realized just how many non-album songs had been made over the years, and how hard it was to find and hear many of them. This compilation contains every song we have ever made that does not exist on one of our records. There are 14 songs in total.”
Beach House’s B-Sides and Rarities will be released on CD / LP / CASS / DL and is available for pre-order now [link here]. LP pre-orders in North America through the Sub Pop Mega Mart and select independent retailers will receive the Loser Edition on crystal clear vinyl (while supplies last). A new T-shirt design will also be available.
Beach House has also added new dates to their 2017 international headlining and festival tour schedule. Highlights include: August 13th in Castelbuono, IT at Ypsigrock, August 16th in Sestri Levante, IT for an appearance at Mojotic Festival, and a string of September dates with friends and former labelmates Fleet Foxes (with stops at the Hollywood Bowl and Red Rocks Amphitheatre among those).

Andy Shauf - Early To The Party

ANDY SHAUF RELEASES NEW VIDEO FOR “EARLY TO THE PARTY” INTERNATIONALLY ACCLAIMED ALBUM THE PARTY IN STORES NOWAndy Shauf has delivered a delightfully surreal new video for his song “Early To The Party.” The track is from Shauf’s critically heralded album The Party , which Stereogum called “a lovely, luxuriant thing” and the Independent described as “a baroque-pop exercise with echoes of Seventies smarties like Harry Nilsson, Randy Newman and Steely Dan.”In a recent Washington Post piece on the resurgence of concept albums, they write of The Party , “the songs themselves are rhythmically taut and painstakingly arranged, underscoring the tension wafting through the room… Love triangles, trapezoids and pentagons quickly collapse into existential loneliness and supernatural weirdness.”The new clip, directed by Luke McCutcheon & Michael Yablonski (Andrew Bird, Young Galaxy), depicts an offbeat and surreal party attended by an collection of eccentric Twin Peaks-like characters. They socialize with one another, dance alone, and eventually engage in a strange party game which ends on a both poignant and unnerving note.Watch the new video for Andy Shauf’s “Early To The Party” here: https://youtu.be/PSSLIAYit8k Andy Shauf is currently on tour in support of his album The Party .Live DatesMay 17th, Music Hall of Williamsburg, Brooklyn, NY, US – SOLD OUT

Middle Kids Announce North American Fall Tour
MIDDLE KIDS ANNOUNCENORTH AMERICAN FALL TOUR
SHARE COVER OF CAR SEAT HEADREST"FILL IN THE BLANK," LISTEN HERE
PLAYING LOLLAPALOOZA, OSHEAGA, LIFE ISBEAUTIFUL, AUSTIN CITY LIMITS & BUMBERSHOOT

The September tour follows on from a smattering of August dates, including Lollapalooza, Mo Pop, and a one-off show opening for Sylvan Esso at Celebrate Brooklyn in Prospect Park.
US audiences were last treated to Middle Kids in March of this year, when the band tore through the country, winning hearts at each and every show. That tour, which took in SXSW and a sold-out Baby’s All Right, also saw the band make their late night TV debut on ‘Conan’; perform sessions with KCRWand KEXP; and record a 4-song session for Sirius XMU. The full Sirius XMU session premieres tonight, Wednesday May 17th, on SiriusXM, and in advance of the airing, we are pleased to share a cover of Car Seat Headrest’s ‘Fill In The Blank,' as performed by Middle Kids’ Hannah Joy, exclusively for Sirius XMU. Listen to Middle Kids’ version of ‘Fill In The Blank’ by Car Seat Headrest HERE. The band’s debut single, ‘Edge Of Town,' continues its ascent at alternative radio, picking up new adds from SiriusXM Alt Nation, WWCD, KRBZ, WEQX, and KRXF, in addition to the continued support from Sirius XMU. ‘Edge of Town’ has now been streamed almost 7 million times on Spotify.MIDDLE KIDS NORTH AMERICAN TOUR DATESWed July 26 || Brooklyn, NY || Celebrate Brooklyn at Prospect Park Bandshell *Sun July 30 || Detroit, MI || Mo Pop FestivalThurs August 3 || Chicago, IL || Lollapalooza Sun Aug 6 || Montreal, QC || Osheaga Music FestivalThurs Aug 31 || Vancouver, BC || Biltmore CabaretSat Sept 2 || Seattle, WA || Bumbershoot Thurs Sept 7 || Minneapolis, MN || 7th Street EntrySat Sept 9 || St. Louis, MO || LouFest Sun Sept 10 || Columbus, OH || The Basement Tues Sept 12 || Toronto, ON || Horseshoe Tavern Wed Sept 13 || Montreal, QC || Petit CampusFri Sept 15 || Boston, MA || Brighton Music Hall Tues Sept 19 || Philadelphia, PA || Johnny Brenda’s Wed Sept 20 || Washington, DC || Rock & Roll Hotel Fri Sept 22 || Atlanta, GA || The Masquerade – Purgatory Sun Sept 24 || Las Vegas, NV || Life Is Beautiful Thurs Sept 28 || Los Angeles, CA || Teragram Ballroom Fri Sept 29 || San Francisco, CA || The Independent Sat Sept 30 || Santa Cruz, CA || The Catalyst Atrium Mon Oct 2 || San Diego, CA || The Casbah Tues Oct 3 || Phoenix, AZ || Valley BarThurs Oct 5 || El Paso, TX || Lowbrow Palace Oct 6-8 || Austin, TX || Austin City LimitsOct 13-15 || Austin, TX || Austin City Limits

Yowler, the moniker and solo project of Maryn Jones (All Dogs, Saintseneca), has announced that Double Double Whammy will be doing a vinyl reissue of her critically acclaimed debut, The Offer, which was a cassette only release til now. The reissue includes a bonus track titled "Go," which NPR premiered today and is saying "no matter the depth of the loneliness in Jones' lyrics, Yowler's songs exert a kind of empathetic, magnetic pull. She might be alone, but she makes you feel alone right there with her." The Offer reissue is available for pre-order now and is due out June 16th via Double Double Whammy
Yowler has also announced 2 upcoming shows in New York, all dates below.
PRAISE FOR YOWLER:"Maryn Jones uses her guitar and voice to create something more complex than it first appears. Her deep, sad songs don't feel restricted to a single person, and when synthesizers, drums, or extra voices seep in, they show up as naturally as weather. " -Pitchfork
"Esoteric, fantastical... She makes personal battles sound epic in nature, quietly willing a delicate and inviting atmosphere into existence." -Stereogum
"The Offer burns down like a candle in a dark room. The last fragile flickers are as compelling as the brightest burn" -Consequence of Sound
TOUR DATES:5/20 - New York, NY @ Vulture Festival (Highline Stages) *7/15 - 7/15 Brooklyn, NY @ Baby's All Right ^
* w/ Cut Worms, Snail Mail and Yohuna^ w/ Bellows, Real Life Buildings and Common Holly
ABOUT YOWLER:Stretched across many years, states, tours and projects, Maryn Jones has always been moving from one thing to the other. Living in more houses than one can count on two hands, and years spent touring the country with her other bands All Dogs and Saintseneca, it is clear that a driving force in Jones' life has always been change. One constant rooted amongst all of the back and forth has always been some manifestation of a solo project.
The range has been diverse; from playing guitar alone next to a tape recorder at the age of 15, to playing songs under her own name sitting on tables in punk houses, to her current state; playing venues and larger stages under the latest form, Yowler. Culled from the spaces where quieter things reside amongst the chaos and constant flux, Yowler has become a home in which Jones' most intimate thoughts and reflections can live and take shape.
Jones' first release under the moniker Yowler, a 2015 Double Double Whammy- released cassette The Offer, is a wintery cold reflection on unwanted change, sadness, and the facing down of the realities of loneliness and mental unrest. The songs are somehow quiet even when the instrumentation builds, and clear, even when there is a hazy quality to the recordings. This is likely due to Jones' voice, which is at once soft and penetrating, warm and distant, and which floats assuredly among the woven arrangement of guitars, synths and harmonies surrounding it.
Since The Offer's original release, Jones has made a move from Ohio to Pennsylvania and has continued to tour and travel fairly consistently with all three of her musical projects. Jones is currently living and recording another Yowler album in Philadelphia.

Blonde Redhead have released the music video for the title track of their new EP, 3 O’CLOCK (2017, Asa Wa Kuru/Ponderosa). The video was filmed live in Amsterdam at Paradiso Noord on March 10th, 2017, during a stop on their most recent European tour. Directed by Alex Caroppi and filmed by Ortensia Braga, the video captures the unrestrained energy of the live performances that Blonde Redhead has come to be known for.Blonde Redhead have also announced tours dates for July 2017, including a European festival circuit and a 4-stop tour of the United States West Coast. The European tour sees them performing at BBK Festival in Bilbao (ES), Festival les George in Fribourg (CH) and Dour Festival in Dour (BE), among others. The full list of tour dates is below. 3 O’CLOCK EP3 O'CLOCK was released March 10th, 2017 on the band's own label, Asa Wa Kuru Records. This melancholic EP, with an aromantic graft, follows the tour that, in 2016, saw Blonde Redhead reinvent their cult album Misery Is A Butterfly with a string quartet. The new atmospheres developed during this tour emerge occasionally in the pieces of 3 O’CLOCK, as the band pushes even more in the direction of a massive presence of strings and wind instruments such as the viola, cello, violin, clarinet, oboe, flute and trumpet. The EP was made with the help of, among others, the string quartet ACME (American Contemporary Music Ensemble), and Eyvind Kang, an American composer and violinist who collaborated with Blonde Redhead on Misery Is A Butterfly and the latest tour in support of the albumUpcoming Tour Dates05.18.2017 / The Kitchen (Simone & Amedo Pace live score experimental films / NY, NY
