Skating Polly dropped their New Trick EP – featuring Louise Post and Nina Gordon fromVeruca Salt and produced by Brad Wood (Liz Phair, Sunny Day Real Estate, Smashing Pumpkins) – on April 28th via El Camino Media. They kicked off news of the EP via NPR who premiered the video for “ Hail Mary ,” noting that the song “…showcases Skating Polly's characteristic moodiness, as well the more subtle layers of harmonies that Post and Gordon brought to the new songs.” Post wrote about how she and Gordon first hooked up with Kelli Mayo (17) and Peyton Bighorse (21) and gave a really great account of their experience working together for The Talkhouse last week, read HERE .
Kelli and Peyton’s brother Kurtis Mayo (20) officially joined the band following the recording of the new EP and has been on the road with them since they started touring in support of New Trick on May 1st. NOISE POP ANNOUNCES THE RELAUNCH OF HISTORIC MUSIC VENUE CAFÉ DU NORD AT SWEDISH AMERICAN HALL
NOISE POP ANNOUNCES THE RELAUNCH OF HISTORIC MUSIC VENUE CAFÉ DU NORD AT SWEDISH AMERICAN HALL
SF STALWARTS ROGUE WAVE KICK OFF SUMMER CALENDAR JUNE 1 WITH TICKETS ON SALE NOW
FULL CALENDAR COMING THIS SUMMER
SAN FRANCISCO, CA (May 11, 2017) – Noise Pop Industries is proud to announce the return of Café du Nord as a music venue, in collaboration with Swedish American Hall owner Dylan MacNiven (Woodhouse Fish Company and West of Pecos). The Summer calendar kicks off with a relaunch party June 1 featuring Rogue Wave, and Bay Area music fans can expect a full slate of live music, DJ nights, comedy and more in the months ahead.
Café du Nord has a long history as a popular venue and beloved landmark for Bay Area music fans. Noise Pop is working to restore that heritage and light up the room with cheering patrons once again. The subterranean room will complement the programming Noise Pop has been presenting upstairs at the Swedish American Hall since 2015, and cement the historic building’s role as a hub for the local music and arts community.
“With so many challenges facing the Bay Area arts community, we are happy to help restore an amazing piece of its musical landscape. So many fond memories have been created at Café du Nord and the Swedish, and we hope to inspire many more in the future
,”
says Kevin Arnold, Founder of Noise Pop.
Shows are already underway at the venue, with a full slate of programming kicking off in June. Some renovations have been made to accommodate live music in the room and continued improvements will happen over the next year. Currently scheduled performers include (in chronological order): Emel Mathlouthi, LA Takedown, Rogue Wave, VHS Collection, Nina Diaz, Bombadil, Avi Buffalo, Fictionist, Slow Dancer, My Jerusalem, Roselit Bone, Meatbodies, Goon, Turtlenecked, The Velveteins, Moon Bounce, The Life and Times, Tobin Sprout, Eagle Rock Gospel Singers, and Ben Ottwell.
The Du Nord food and beverage program will continue to serve favorites from the previous menu, including the Burger Du Nord and bucket of fried chicken; they’ll also be adding new items such as the Woodhouse lobster roll.
Most recently, Noise Pop brought multiple nights of after-hours music programming to Café du Nord during Noise Pop Festival, which included secret sets from Thao (of Thao & The Get Down Stay Down), Cathedrals, Jay Som, Hamilton Leithauser, Geographer and Con Brio.
Find the calendar of upcoming Café du Nord music performances online at www.swedishamericanhall.com/main/calendar.

State of the art audio and video technology ensure an unforgettable experience from every seat in the house: Massive screens, lasers, fireworks and, of course, a staggering selection of the best songs ever written or performed make every Paul McCartney show a once in a lifetime event that transcends and elevates the potential of live music. The newly added dates in New Jersey, New York, Brooklyn and Uniondale all go on sale to the public on May 12 at 9am. Oh Land
to Play Hollywood Forever
w/ The Mynabirds on May 30

“…a delicate, melancholy ode to wisdom and age…” – NPR
“Strobed, sweaty, vigorous…join her in the jam.” - FADER
“…a jubilant celebration of resilience, peppered with bells, reedy synths and repeated 'high up' choruses.” – Rolling Stone
“…shows her musical evolution and maturation into an innovative vocalist.” – NYLON
“…irresistibly catchy…” – Paste
Nanna Øland Fabricus, known to fans around the world as Oh Land, came into the music scene in 2008 under less than conventional circumstances. When ten years of training and a budding career in ballet was abruptly ended by injury, a life in music began.
At the age of 22, Fabricus wrote and produced her first album Fauna, which was released to much critical acclaim. Having recorded most of the album by herself in her bedroom, Fabricus discovered an early knack for production. She has since released four studio albums and collaborated with renowned producers Dave Sitek, Dave McCracken and Dan Carey, amongst others. As a songwriter she has worked with Sia, John Legend and Pharrell, to name a few.
Fabricus has spent the better part of the past five years touring the world in support of her albums, headlining tours, intermixed with supporting dates for such acts as Katy Perry and Sia. These albums have paved the way for a growing discography of hits, with “Sun of a Gun”, “White Nights”, fan favorite “Wolf & I”, “Renaissance Girls” and “Head Up High.”.
Fabricus has also established herself as a classical composer, playing with Lang Lang and Joshua Bell at Carnegie Hall, orchestrating whole concerts for the symphony orchestra in her native country of Denmark, and writing other scores for film, TV and theater. Her most recent was scoring a 40-minute ballet for the Danish theatre in Copenhagen in 2016, a collaboration with the Queen of Denmark. The music from this ballet has been released an album, Askepot , and is available worldwide (Listen on Spotify HERE).
Fabricus is currently writing her next international release that will follow the just-released video for “Love You Better”, directed by filmmaker Kristian Levring. Watch the stunning video HERE .

The Dream Syndicate Signs to Anti-

THE DREAM SYNDICATE SIGNS TO ANTI- RECORDSAnti- Records is pleased to announce the signing of influential Los Angeles indie rock pioneers The Dream Syndicate. Originally active from 1982–1988, The Dream Syndicate reformed in 2012 after a lengthy hiatus. Founding member Steve Wynn explains, “The Dream Syndicate and I are very excited to be part of the Anti- family. I like the way they embrace artists with a rich and lengthy history who believe that their best and most relevant work is still ahead of them.”Today in the Los Angeles Times several artists select and discuss their favorite Dream Syndicate songs. Contributors include J Mascis (Dinosaur Jr.), Ira Kaplan (Yo La Tengo), Peter Buck and Mike Mills (R.E.M.), Chris Robinson (Black Crowes), Vicki Peterson (Bangles), Japandroids and novelist George Pelecanos. Read now at [link]The Dream Syndicate was formed by current members Steve Wynn (guitar, vocals) and Dennis Duck (drums), along with Karl Precoda (guitar) and Kendra Smith (bass). The band blended the exploratory guitar duels of Television with post-punk and psychedelic garage rock influences, tossing in bedrock elements like Bob Dylan, the Velvet Underground and the Stooges, paving the way for much of the indie rock explosion in the years that followed.Wynn’s edgy, existential lyrics were offset and bolstered by the push and pull of the band’s lean, raw mix of two guitars, bass and drums on the band’s widely heralded debut “The Days of Wine and Roses”. The band’s sound expanded to a more cinematic approach on the follow-up LP “Medicine Show” after which Mark Walton (who is in the current lineup) took over bass duties. Two more albums—“Out of the Grey” and “Ghost Stories”— followed before the band split in 1988.In 2012 the band reunited for a Spanish festival with new guitarist Jason Victor, a brilliant player and the perfect foil Steve was looking for when they joined forces in Wynn’s solo band a few years before. Several tours followed in both the US and Europe, bringing the band’s sound to an audience who had caught up to what they were laying down 30 years before. With both a reclaimed and newfound popularity, the band went into the studio in 2016 to create a wildly anticipated new chapter.Information on the new album by the Dream Syndicate is forthcoming. The Dream Syndicate European Tour DatesOct 14 Oslo – RockefellerOct 15 Göteborg – PustervikOct 18 Copenhagen – VEGAOct 19 Hamburg – Uebel & GefährlichOct 23 Amsterdam – BitterzoetOct 24 Paris – Centre Barbara Fleury Goutte-d’Or (FGO)Oct 25 Turin – Spazio 211Oct 26 Milan – Magnolia SegrateOct 27 Bologna – LocomotivOct 30 London – The LexingtonNov 01 Leeds – Brudenell Social ClubNov 03 Leuven – Het DepotNov 04 Athens - Gagarin

SHEER MAG announce debut LP 'Need To Feel Your Love' - Hear first single "Just Can't Get Enough" now
SHEER MAG
ANNOUNCE DEBUT FULL-LENGTH NEED TO FEEL YOUR LOVE OUT JULY 14 ON WILSUNS RC
UNVEIL FIRST SINGLE "JUST CAN'T GET ENOUGH"

LISTEN / SHARE "JUST CAN'T GET ENOUGH" HERE "'Just Can't Get Enough' is a straight up and down rock ballad about ACTUALLY being in love, which is something we don't often write about without being cynical in some way. Being away from the one you love is hard. This song speaks as if that feeling for that person is something as natural and powerful as a gravitational pull." - SHEER MAG
A tear in the firmament.
Beyond the noxious haze of our national nightmare - as structures of social justice and global progress topple in our midst - there lies a faint but undeniable glow in the distance.
What is it?
Like so many before us we are drawn to the beacon. But only by the bootstraps of our indignation do we go so boldly into the dark to find it.
And so SHEER MAG has let the sparks fly since their outset, with an axe to grind against all that clouds the way. A caustic war cry, seething in solidarity with all those that suffer the brunt of ignorance and injustice in an imbalanced system.
Both brazen and discrete, loud yet precise, familiar but never quite like this - SHEER MAG crept up from Philadelphia cloaked in bold insignia to channel our social and political moment with grit and groove. Cautious but full of purpose.
What is it?
By making a music both painfully urgent and spiritually timeworn, SHEER MAG speak to a modern pain: to a people that too feel their flame on the verge of being extinguished, yet choose to burn a bit brighter in spite of that threat.
With their debut LP, the cloak has been lifted. It is time to reclaim something that has been taken from us. Here the band rolls up their sleeves, takes to the streets, and demands recompense for a tradition of inequity that's poisoned our world.
However, it is in our ability to love - our primal human right to give and receive love - that the damage of such toxicity is newly explored.
Love is a choice we make. We ought not obscure, neglect, or deny that choice.
Through the tumult and the pain, the camaraderie and the cause, the band continues to burn a path into that great beyond.
But where are we headed?
On NEED TO FEEL YOUR LOVE, they make their first full-length declaration of light seen just beyond our darkness. Spoken plainly, without shame:
It is love.
This - is SHEER MAG.
