ADULT. West Coast tour 2017
ADULT.
RELEASE NEW VIDEO FOR “WE ARE A MIRROR” FEATURING DOUGLAS J McCARTHY
PERFORMANCE WITH SHANNON FUNCHESS CONFIRMED
WEST COAST TOUR BEGINS TONIGHT[image error]Photo credit: N KuperusADULT. (Detroit’s Nicola Kuperus and Adam Lee Miller) have released a new video for “We Are a Mirror,” featuring Nitzer Ebb’s Douglas J McCarthy. Filmed in Detroit between the hours of 6pm and 6am, the video is directed by Hazel Hill-McCarthy III – the Los Angeles-based filmmaker who’s previous work includes a documentary featuring Throbbing Gristle’s Genesis P-Orridge. Watch the video HERE. "We Are a Mirror” is taken from ADULT.’s collaborative album Detroit House Guests which was released in March by Mute.
Along with this new visual offering, ADULT. are pleased to announce a special performance at the esteemed Movement Festival in their Detroit home base on Sunday, May 28. Joining Nicola and Adam will be Shannon Funchess of Light Asylum who also featured on Detroit House Guests and can be seen in the previously released video for “We Chase the Sound.”
Recently, ADULT. traveled to Nashville where they performed in Jack White’s hallowed Blue Room at Third Man Records. The audio from this show was recorded direct to acetate and will be released later this year as part of the Live at Third Man Records series.
Detroit House Guests is a project conceived by ADULT. based on the visual artist residency model – each musician came to ADULT.’s studio for a three week period with the parameter that they all live, work and collaborate together. The result - a total anthropological sound experiment and a full length album.
The album features collaborations with a whole host of musicians and artists – Douglas J McCarthy from Nitzer Ebb, Michael Gira from Swans, Shannon Funchess from Light Asylum, Robert Aiki Aubrey Lowe aka Lichens, Austrian thereminist Dorit Chrysler and multidisciplinary artist Lun*na Menoh.
Kuperus and Miller also make sculpture, paintings, films, photographs, performances, videos and installations. They strive to intersect the lines between art and audio and have exhibited their work at institutions such as the Austrian Cultural Forum (NY), Mattress Factory (Pittsburgh), Detroit Institute of Arts (Detroit), MOMAS (Saitama, Japan), and Centre d'art contemporain de Meymac (FR). They have shown their film The Three Grace(s) triptych at spaces such as Anthology Film Archives (NY), Distrital Film Festival (Mexico City), and Grey Area for Art and Technology (SF).

Warbly Jets Share "Alive" Remix & Summer Tour Dates

US, UK & China Tour Dates This Summer
LA's Warbly Jets burst onto the scene last November with their debut single " Alive ," an infectious jam that infuses the grit of straightforward rock 'n' roll with the catchy hooks of Britpop. Since then, the song has racked up an impressive amount of plays and garnered praise from the likes of LA Weekly, KROQ, and Beats1's Matt Wilkinson, who called the track "gutsy, melodic, and catchy-as-hell." It was also used as the official song for Liam Gallagher's Pretty Green SS17 line and earned the band slots opening for acts like The Dandy Warhols, The Mystery Lights, and Night Beats.
Today, Warbly Jets share their own remix of the track, which preserves its catchy vocal melodies but adds a heavy layer of buzzing synths and pulsing rhythms. Relying on their background in electronic music and a desire to push their creative boundaries, they turned the single into an addictive, dance-worthy banger. You can stream & share the "Alive" remix via Soundcloud .

Fruit & Flowers 'Drug Tax' EP
DIGITAL SERVICING: Fruit & Flowers - Drug TaxOut Friday June 30th, 2017 via Little Dickman Records
Photo Cred: Fernando ForeroWATCH & SHARE: Fruit & Flowers - "Out Of Touch""If you go to a lot of DIY-ish shows in NYC chances are you’ve seen Fruit & Flowers, one of the hardest working new bands of the moment, making super-catchy indie rock."
- Brooklyn Vegan
"...the perfect soundtrack for slowly slinking through NYC's July haze, while possibly spotting a UFO over the Manhattan skyline."
- Bandsintown
"Brooklyn band that's been playing a gazillion shows lately (and seem to have as many scheduled), which is always a good sign."
- The Deli NYC Brooklyn-based "surf noir" garage psych band Fruit & Flowers announce their debut EP, Drug Tax, due out June 30th via Little Dickman Records. The band debuted their first single and music video from the forthcoming release on Brooklyn Vegan . Watch "Out Of Touch" HERE, and check out the upcoming tour dates, including their EP release show on June 29th at Baby's All Right.
Fruit & Flowers are one of the most active bands in the NYC area, and have been deemed one of "NYC's Hardest Working Bands" by Oh My Rockness. The band embarks on its third tour of 2017 in July to Canada and the Midwest in support of Drug Tax. Fruit & Flowers' exuberant, electric performances draw a local following. Ana Becker's angular, expressive guitar style and Lyzi Wakefield's gritty rhythmic backbone merge a post-punk heaviness with psychedelic warmth. Committed and charismatic front woman Caroline Yoder summons a fervent energy, surrounded by distinct, warm and refreshing three part harmonies, the bedrock of Fruit and Flowers' sound.
Conceived in a Bushwick loft with broken AC during the summer of 2015 by Caroline on bass and Shaw Walters on drums, the band was soon joined by Lyzi Wakefield and Ana Becker on guitars and vocals. The band agreed to play its first show at Northside festival just weeks after formation and wrote the record in a furious fit of hot nights and inspired mornings. The band became fully realized when Shaw handed the role of drummer to Jose Berrio (drummer-cum-art director), whose inimitable style elevates the strong rhythmic character of the band.
Drug Tax was born out of necessity, capturing the grit and rush of New York City summer and the newfound chemistry between the bandmates. Weaving together the perspectives and expressions of the band's multiple songwriters, Drug Tax unfolds to present the unique and varied voice of Fruit & Flowers. Lead single "Out Of Touch" is about the ennui of a missed love opportunity, with soaring, sultry vocals, beachy surf rock riffs and fuzzy bass. Album tracks range from the sultry moody and beautiful "Dark Surf" to the post-gothic title track "Drug Tax."
Drug Tax was recorded at Thump Studios in Greenpoint, Brooklyn. The EP was engineered and co-produced by John Thayer, and mixed and mastered by George Harris. Jose Berrio designed the band's logo and album art.

LISTEN TO "BOYISH"
Today, Japanese Breakfast has shared "Boyish," the latest from her upcoming album, Soft Sounds From Another Planet. Of the song, Michelle Zauner says "Craig Hendrix [band member and the album's co-producer] and I wanted to produce this sort of grandiose Roy Orbison-esque ballad. We wanted the chorus to have big arrangements, lots of harmonies and synth strings, to create a really sweeping, melancholic effect that mirrored the nature of the lyrics. The song is about jealousy and sexual incompetence. It's about feeling ugly."
The follow up to Japanese Breakfast's critically acclaimed debut is a work of self-reflection that looks out at the cosmos in search of healing, finding inspiration in science fiction, outer space, and the Mars One Project. Soft Sounds From Another Planet is available for pre-order now and due out July 14th on Dead Oceans.
Japanese Breakfast has also announced a free record release show matinee at Brooklyn, NY's Union Pool on July 15th and some dates in Europe. The band is currently on tour with (Sandy) Alex G and Cende and have some upcoming US dates with Tegan and Sara. All dates below.

Courtney Barnett & Kurt Vile touring together this fall In support of forthcoming collaboration LP
Courtney Barnett & Kurt Vile touring together this fallTour is in support of forthcoming collaboration LP

The announcement comes as two of this generation's most exciting and unique singer-songwriters reveal that they have completed a collaboration album for release later this year.
The inter-continental duo will share the stage, performing songs off their upcoming album as well as delving into their respective back catalogues and covering a bunch of classics, all backed by their band 'The Sea Lice,' a revolving cast of musicians including Janet Weiss (Sleater-Kinney, Wild Flag), Stella Mozgawa (Warpaint),Rob Laakso (The Violators, The Swirlies, Mice Parade) and Katie Harkin (Harkin, Sky Larkin and touring member of Sleater-Kinney and Wild Beasts). "A cookin' band and an intercontinental country duo for the ages-minus the country," says Vile.
Courtney recalls the seeds of the collaboration:
"In 2014 I scored a support slot opening for Kurt at the Abbotsford Convent [outside Melbourne]. We met briefly after the show but I was a bit nervous and didn't wanna bother him, just grateful for the gig. Years later we started bumping into each other on the festival circuit all around the wide world and we became friends. He hit me up when he was coming to Melbourne next and said he thought we could work together."
As Kurt tells it:
"I just love her voice in general... great lyrics of course... I love all her music but the song that really hit me was "Depreston"-I know it's popular but her voice is so good in that song and it's so pretty and sincere... i'm a sucker for that kinda song: instant classic.
It started out as, maybe we'll do a split 7" together but then I figured let's make it a 12" so it doesn't get lost in the world, shoot for 5 songs. It wasn't until i had another KV tour booked for the following summer in Oz that we thought we should record as much as we can, just see what happens, no major goal to make it a full length, but it came together that way 'cause the vibe was so strong with everyone."
For Courtney, the admiration is mutual:
"I'm a huge Kurt fan. Smoke Ring was one of my first purchases on vinyl. I was getting over a big break-up, unemployed and drifting and I would just lie on my bed and listen to 'Peepin' Tom' on repeat. One of the most beautiful and luscious albums I ever heard. Me and Jen fell in love to that album."
Kurt and Courtney have partnered with Plus 1 so that $1 from every ticket goes to support the ACLU and their work defending and protecting our individual rights and liberties. Support for the Courtney Barnett and Kurt Vile (and The Sea Lice) tour will be Australian songwriter Jen Cloher.
The album is the result of 8 days in the studio spread over almost 15 months when Courtney and Kurt's respective touring schedules allowed for them to be in the same place at the same time. It will be released later this year jointly by Matador Records, Marathon Artists and Milk! Records.

Ariel Pink releases new single, "Another Weekend"
ARIEL PINK RELEASES NEW SINGLE, “ANOTHER WEEKEND,”
VIA MEXICAN SUMMER
Pink’s First New Solo Material Since His Acclaimed 2014 Album Pom PomStream “Another Weekend” via SoundCloud ; Pre-order “Another Weekend” 7-Inch Here
Ariel Pink today releases a new single, “Another Weekend,” via Mexican Summer. The track represents the Los Angeles-based artist’s first new material since his collaborative EP with Weyes Blood, Myths 002 (January 2017), and his first solo release since his 2014 prog-pop opus pom pom, to which Pitchfork gave a Best New Music designation, and which The New York Times described as “a delightful, typically schizophrenic collection: wickedly dark and funny one moment, sweet and sentimental the next, and at other times as gleefully unhinged as Pink has ever been.”
Stream “Another Weekend” via SoundCloud. The 7” single, whose B side is the song “Ode To The Goat (Thank You),” is available for pre-order here.
On the new track, Pink sets a serene but complex scene for the next chapter in his curious career. Encapsulating the lingering euphoria of a weekend gone regrettably over the edge, the song finds him whispering sweetly while speaking in morose volumes. It’s a dichotomy that has long characterized Pink’s pathos and body of work, which has navigated a staggeringly broad stylistic range and has remained both ambitious and playful throughout.
Pink has prolifically written, recorded and released his singular brand of pop music for well over two decades. With “Another Weekend,” he has returned to the setting of his first recordings: his bedroom. The song is a shimmering entry in his unrivaled canon.

"a psych-influenced rocker that tips its hat to everything from the Crazy World of Arthur Brown and post-punk to '70s cinema in one fell swoop. It's a howler of a track that's as much fun to listen to as it is to identify the films in the accompanying video" - CLRVYNTDion Lunadon (of A Place To Bury Strangers / The D4) is now streaming his new LP viaConsequence of Sound. The debut solo album is out this Friday, June 9th on Agitated Records, you can preorder it here.
Dion Lunadon's debut solo album was recorded over a three-month period in Brooklyn, NY. The album features Robi Gonzalez (APTBS) on drums and Blaze Bateh from Bambara on select tracks including "Fire", and also features mixing by Chris Woodhouse (Mayyors, Ty Segall, The Intelligence, Thee Oh Sees) on select tracks including "Com/Broke". It is available for preorders now via Bandcamp.
During a short break in touring with APTBS, Lunadon had a rush of inspiration in the form of a creative spasm — a neurotic impulse to make a batch of songs and do it right then and right there.
What resulted is quite a jump away from his work in APTBS and draws more influence from bands like Toy Love and The Gun Club, as well as New Zealand unknowns such as Gestalt and Supercar.
Dion Lunadon’s debut Self-Titled album is set for release on June 9th via Agitated Records.

PHOENIX Presents "Ti Amo Speciale" + Album Out June 9
PHOENIXPresents:"Ti Amo Speciale"
Ti Amo Out Friday!Band Performing on Jimmy Kimmel Live on June 12th

Photo by PHAMToday, in celebration of their forthcoming album Ti Amo , out Friday via Loyaute/Glassnote Records, Phoenix present "Ti Amo Speciale" available now on Apple Music. Set on an Italian talk show, "Ti Amo Speciale" sees our four French heroes playing three songs from their highly anticipated new record - celebrated new single "J-Boy," summer slow jam "Goodbye Soleil," and a stripped down version of the album's title track, while being interviewed about the new record. Directed by Warren Fu, and referencing Italian variety shows from the late 70s/early 80s, "Ti Amo Speciale" is the perfect look into Phoenix's dazzling sixth studio album. WATCH "TI AMO SPECIALE" NOW
In addition to this, Phoenix will also be performing the song "Ti Amo" onJimmy Kimmel Live this Monday, June 12th on ABC. Check your local listings for time. Praise for Phoenix and Ti Amo :"It may be the band's most unabashedly romantic record yet..." - New York Times "...from the two glittering promo tracks from Ti Amo ("J-Boy" and the title track), it seems all but certain that Phoenix will be keeping pace -- sexy, synthy, enigmatic discotheque pace -- with their upcoming sixth album." - Billboard "Phoenix albums - all of them - sound like being in love..." - Vulture "Listen to Ti Amo at the right time, in the right mood, and it might start to sound like a symbol of a better world, or at least a welcome respite from the worst parts of this one." - MTV "...Ti Amo is tightly composed, but so steeped in breezy, hazy romanticism that you might forget that you're listening to a thing that started as nothing, that was labored over for years... And if Phoenix can make you forget how hard they're working, maybe they can make you forget how hard you're working too-the highest achievement of pop music. A safe haven, so to speak." - GQ "Phoenix found a way to stay lively and starry-eyed when the world is closing in; the romantic, inclusive vibe of songs like 'J-Boy' and 'Fior di Latte' counteract the received wisdom that we have to get grimmer in grim times. A beautiful album like this might not turn back the tide on its own, but it'll remind you of how the world should be." - Spin Phoenix tour dates:6/7/17 Morrison, CO @ Red Rocks %6/10/17 San Francisco, CA @ Live 1056/11/17 San Diego, CA @ X-Fest6/13/17 Phoenix, AZ @ Marquee Theater 6/14/17 Las Vegas, NV @ Brooklyn Bowl 6/15/17 Los Angeles, CA @ Hollywood Bowl &6/24/17 Worthy Farm, Pilton, UK @ Glastonbury Festival6/29/17 Vilanova i la Geltru, Spain @ Vida Festival6/30/17 Marmande, France @ Garorock Festival7/1/17 Montreux, Switz @ Montreux Jazz Festival7/6/17 Lisbon, Portugal @ NOS Alive7/7/17 Bilbao, Spain @ Bilbao BBK Live7/8/17 Hérouville-St-Clair, France @ Beauregard Festival7/9/17 Belfort, France @ Les Eurockéennes Festival7/13/17 Aix-les-Bains, France @ Musilac Festival7/14/17 Carhaix, France @ Les Vieilles Charrues7/15/17 Dour, Belgium @ Dour Festival7/16/17 Berlin-Ferropolis, Germany @ Melt!
